Megumi Ishitani the salvation for the one piece anime
Megumi Ishitani is the director of (probably) the best episodes of the one piece anime and she is one of the reasons why the anime is still watchable for a manga reader. First, lets talk about her. Megumi Ishitani was born in the Hyougo perfecture, Japan in 1991. She graduated from the Department of Animation, Graduate School of Film and New Media at Tokyo University of the Arts, in 2015 and is now working with Toei Animation. Even though her workshop isn’t one of an experienced and important director - on the contrary she has only directed four episodes of known animes (One Piece and Dragon Ball Super), four full series little known (Katasumi no Uroko, Oshiri Tantei, Arara and Jurassic!) and one movie(Bijutsu Kyouiku) - she has just directed one of the best anime episodes there has ever been, this beeing One Piece episode 1015, wich received a 9.5/10 raiting on IMBD. This last raiting was a heavy hit on anime watchers, when it first aired it immediatly recived a 10/10 raiting and it lasted no longer than a day, in wich a large amount of haters entered the website and rated the episode a 0/10, just because it was one piece. This is a large fenommenon that has and is happennign in the anime community (the same happened with shingeki no kyiojin and gintama the movie). Going back to the episode it self, it was really a fresh air comparing it with the previous episodes. It has been long known that one piece’s pace is terrible, but in it’s most recent arc (Wano kuni) it really has been disapointing, while in the manga it has been one if not the best arc, in the anime it has been really slow and not that good, also it only has been a few episodes with good animation wich makes it really difficult to watch. For example, episode 1000 was suppose to be a huge hit and an amzaing feat, but it was an episode full of flashbacks and nothing really interesting, so it became huge disappointment for the fans. But in episode 1015, we got what we deserved, amazing animation, really great and epic scenes, and an amazing Megumi Ishitani’s style of episode. by this I mean that it’s an episode wich takes what’s in the manga and adds a lot of stuff that is nto really canon, but it gives information and lines of dialogue that deserves to be canon, non of those fillers that are really boring or those repetitive flashbacks. We gett scenes like the ones in the next two links(SPOLER WARNING): -https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yZRztgchmnU -https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LYqPCDhadY0 We can see that the style is very different, and the amount of detail given to it is amazing. And it’s because of theese reasons that we can say that Megumi Ishitani is the salvation of the one piece anime, giving the one piece anime watchers some hope that the anime is still ejoyable and able to be close to the manga in some aspects that lets you enjoy the real master piece that is one piece.
