On a similar vibe, Open the Sky is Extinction coded. In fact, Stray as a game is very Extinction coded

Okay, so about that old self indulgent Wistim Au.

Disclaimer before I go on:

I was frankly, losing it back then when I first came up with it so most of what I've got is from my incoherent rambles to myself. So it's not peer reviewed, it's not revised, I was the only one who ever heard of it so I didn't even bother to polish. It's 100% me shoving whatever I wanted into the plot with full disregard for canon

This was made right before the season 2 finale came out so it's not accurate to how that went down

Looking back at it now, it's not the best plot but eh, I had fun with it

Okay? Got it? Good.

So the Au (Which I've nicknamed Aether lord Au) was a what-if scenario for the conclusion of Hero's defeat. Basically, Steve managed to kill Hero after a battle and re-absorbed him. Sadly, both him and Withy had spent all their strength on beating Hero which meant that there was none left that could be used to sustain Steve's body. So, Steve's dying. He tries his hardest to convince himself and the others that he'd fine with it because really, he's been running on borrowed time. But him, Withy and Endy know that's not true. Imagine sort of like season 1's finale but there's no fight, just a quiet chat in the ruins of the destroyed village.

Alex tries to go for the killing blow but Endy decides that unlike last time, she's not going to just let him go. Both her and Withy will actually do something to help him. So they go fetch Endy's things

From which she fetches the totem. Steve refuses it, out of fear of what happened last time to happen again. But the demons insist, after all, he's without evil this time so the effect should be different. Ultimately, Steve accepts it right before dying and the totem's magic activates.

Unlike last time, when Steve was almost fully corrupted, the totem works in a different way. It restores Steve's body and infuses it with magic (Which somehow turns out to be from the Aether? I think I settled with the totem being a lost artifact from there.), turning into something else.

I never made like a proper design for him bc he mostly just existed in my head as the vibe of a character but he now looks something like this:

He still looks somewhat human but now he's something more.

So the plot from then on would be him getting Endy and Withy out of his head (Building a body for Withy, helping Endy's egg hatch) and learning from them what it means to be.. well, whatever he is now. He's obviously not going to heed their every advice (Bc some of it is not good sgjshs) but it's nice to not be alone when faced with something like this.

So yeah! I really like where canon ended up heading so I kinda ditched this Au shortly after but man, it's a fun Au (To me at least). As fun as it is to put Steve through the meat grinder, it's also nice to treat him to something good every once in a while. So why not make an Au where he turns into a demi-god lmao

I can't stop thinking about the implications of Miss Pauling throwing the Australium to the sea.

I mean. We saw what it did to the Australians just from them existing near it! What would it do to the fish??

And not only that but they threw it into the deepest trench they could find. Deep sea creatures are already messed up enough!!!

I don't even wanna imagine the horrors that will spawn from that single action. I mean, good for her but gosh, diving is going to become a lot more dangerous in the tf2 universe.

Thinking about @objectshowshipper's wistim swap Au this is what I've got

The story will obviously have to be different bc different characters but obviously everyone is eventually going to be there.

Alex is going to be some sort of beast obviously (Leaning really hardly into her Tma Hunt alignment)

I'm thinking maybe Steve could be some sort of mud or rock demon? I like the mud idea bc he could just become more liquid and spread everywhere when he's not feeling like doing anything but rock sounds very fun too (Leaning into his slight Tma Buried alignment)

Withy's name is William but he HATES the name so Withy it is.

I'm not sure what Endy's name could be honestly :/ I guess I could use her canon name of Jean but I don't know how much it works in here

Are Withy and the Jebs related here? Who knows! Jeb insists they are but Withy swears on his life that they aren't

I'm not sure how I feel about what I've got with Withy and Endy's human designs honestly but I like the idea of Withy's eyes being brown leaning towards red and Endy's staying purple (Picrew didn't have it as an option)

Also human Withy being built like a twig and needing glasses is really funny to me

Endy would use lots of jewelry for sure

I had a pretty clear vision for the Jebs and Ron tho

Didn't design the other 2 Jebs but I imagine them like a set of twins that just kinda sit back and 👁️👁️

Jeb probably plays a musical instrument (I'm going with banjo)

He's still super creepy but Endy can throw him now

Then there's Ron!

I like to imagine him as a weird albino kid that just kinda. Appeared one day

Nobody is quite sure when he showed up

They just know it happened a day when the group made the mistake of leaving the Jebs alone and when they came back to get them there was an extra one

Maybe Ron was part of a ritual that didn't quite work? (I know that was the idea for Hero but I think Ron fits too)

Maybe Ron got some level of power from it?

I'm not sure what Barbara's deal could be honestly. A part of me thinks it would be funny if she was the exact same like. The only one that didn't change at all

Idk but I'm having many thoughts about this Au you have no idea thank you for the delicious food

OH OH!!

Okay so if Steve is rock/mud, imagine if Hero was smoke. Like, a ghost-like entity. He loses his power and goes maybe to Ron? It would be interesting if Ron was part of an attempt to find an anchor/body to use to take back his power but it didn't work 100% so now he's stuck with Ron but in the back seat instead of the front.

How do you guys think Withy's heads work? Like, which one does the talking? I always imagined it to be the central one but hear me out, imagine these 2 different scenarios:

All the heads talk at the same time, so Withy outside of Steve's head is way louder than he was inside it. Imagine a very booming voice (Steve would've commented on it if he wasn't so laser focused on killing him)

Or instead, in a more silly route,

Withy taught himself to only speak through his middle head bc the other 2 have stupid, silly-sounding voices. Imagine the Sonic Snapcube fandub "Brother, you reset my voice module button. Brother!" bit (This was the only clip of it I could find athsgs)

I mean, the Jebs and Withy are cousins so it's not too farfetched

Well, I think it's kinda obvious but I really like Steve and Withy c: I LOVE their dynamic and they're both really interesting characters to me. The way they bounce off each other, the way they always end up back together (Don't ship it but hey, if someone wants to there's potential there), the way they both care for each other yet will never admit it out loud

Good shit.

I'm so excited for new episode (When it drops) bc of how much I can see a Steve crash out coming. He deserves one! It would be good for the group too (Would make their relationships a lot healthier ngl) as long as it doesn't occur at the worst time (Which I genuinely think it will bc drama)

I'm genuinely struggling to think of who could be the oldest demi-human (Maybe an oc?) so I'll just say my prediction for the last bits of the season.

Steve crash out

Hero reveal (Alex goes knives out, Withy, Endy and Steve drama bc "How come you never said anything???" "Bc if I did, you would all kill me, revive me and kill me again! Just like you said you would!" Followed up by an "Oh" moment from Withy hopefully)

The demi-human is either very helpful (Maybe he leads the group to the trial chambers?) or absolutely useless

The Jebs get kicked out of Ron's head, maybe they get thrown back in the box? Or get a body back bc "That's why you don't mess with them especially, Withy!"

And that's all I've got honestly. Everything else, I've already expressed

I was thinking about the season 2 finale again and I realized something.

(Season 2 spoilers under the cut, this one is for you, other person in the fandom that hasn't watched it yet c:)

So, remember when Barbara nukes Hero near the end? How it left him?

The enderman-like characteristics seem to be from having the Ender Dragon inside his head which made me think:

Is everyone who is possessed in this universe like that? How does Steve look like?? Especially in Season 1 where he has Withy, Endy and the Jebs???

And what about Barbara in the season 2 finale??? With the Jebs and Ron???
