Meet Kara Petraglia! A second year MFA Book Artist/Printmaker! Where are you from and do you have a website/blog? I was born in Yonkers, NY but grew up in Hollywood, FL. I went to the University of Florida in Gainesville, and then moved back to NY once I graduated. This back and forth has complicated pinning down this sort of question. I do have a website at www.karapetraglia.com. It's a little out of date, but new work should be going up soon. When you wake up in the morning coffee or tea? Coffee to begin with, and if it's not too crazy during the day I'll move in to tea. And if it is a crazy day, I'll stick with coffee. Childhood book that you obsessed over as a kid? One of my favorites is "The Fat Cat: A Danish Folktale" (http://www.amazon.com/The-Fat-Cat-Danish-Folktale/dp/0590021745) The tagline is: A cat grows fatter and fatter as he eats everyone he meets. My grandmother used to read this to me and do weird different voices. It's one of my favorite memories as a kid. When the tough gets going what do you do to make it work? Lately I've just been doing collage or watercolor paintings. They usually turn out horribly, but sometimes there's a little something in there that helps get me going. If it's writing, I used a word deck that I built in the first year of the program (in Susan Vigeur's class) to create phrases and word combinations to begin writing from. Stay tune for more info on upcoming WIP and Thesis shows as well as wonderful field trips and workshops going on this semester!
