10 Wedding Sherwani Trends 2022 Grooms Must Know
A wedding sherwani for the groom is available in a variety of fabrics, colors, and patterns. The groom’s sherwani is made of silk, brocade, terry wool, and velvet, with rich artwork such as beads, mirrors, sequins, and embroidery. Chikankari, Kashidakari, Kashmiri, Zardozi, Phulkari, Jaal, and Kantha are the most popular types of needlework.
This is one of the most important factors to consider. When it comes to choosing a sherwani for your wedding, you may hear a lot of advice: you won’t wear it very often, you can spend the money elsewhere, everyone in a marriage just stares at the bride, and so on. Don’t pay attention to any of it. It’s your wedding (a once-in-a-lifetime event), and you want to look as beautiful as the bride. Choose a sherwani for a wedding with profuse embroidery and embellishments and a high-quality fabric (ideally brocade or silk). Your sherwani should be fashionable, exquisite, and classy, and it should make you stand out in the throng so that all of the guests can recognize the groom from afar. Because of a cheap, low-quality sherwani, you should not finish up looking like the groom’s brother and feeling terrible throughout your wedding!
We’ve put together a guide for the latest wedding sherwani 2021 that will help you pick the best version.
Embroidery Sherwani
The printed sherwani for men for a wedding can never match the power of the intricate details in the embroidered versions.
The embroidery usually done by skilled craftsmen can help create a vibrant look as well as add the extra touch of details in the groom’s attire. When done with more finesses, embroidery can also breathe life into the patterns, and the figures created on the attire.
Along with zari, embroidery makes the sherwani design for a wedding look even more rich and flamboyant.
Silk Sherwani
Silk is not just a flowy fabric, but also shows richness in its texture. The silk sherwani is perfect for grooms who wish to have an intimate and subtle wedding. The silk fabric gives the groom’s attire a light look and also gives the wedding a low-key look that sets it apart from the standard shimmery weddings.
Sherwanis made from this fabric can be perfect for summer weddings or other wedding ceremonies. With a silk sherwani, you can also make the shift to Indo western sherwani for lighter weddings. You can also wear silk apparel as a sherwani for a wedding function.
Lucknowi sherwani
Lucknow is not just known for its intricate embroidery work but is also known for the same being fone on men’s clothing. The lucknowi sherwani and Kurtis for men have been long in style and continue to rock the market.
The lucknowi sherwani has been famous for its intricate detailing in the designs which sets it apart from the general options available in the market.
Ivory sherwani
The grooms are adhering to Ivory as their color scheme, but skipping the vital aspects! Yes, the most popular choice among the new grooms is a trendy ivory sherwani.
For example, sticking to a traditional color yet still making a fashion statement. Is it possible to get any better than this?
As a result, we’ve compiled a list of the top 10 sherwani designs that will complete your groom’s ensemble. Don’t forget to save the ones that suit your ideal outfit requirements to a Pinterest board.
Along with an ivory sherwani, a jodhpuri sherwani for a wedding can also fit well for flamboyant functions,
Raw silk sherwani
Raw silk, also known as Dupion silk, is a 100 percent pure silk fabric with bumps or slub on the surface that give it a lovely texture. Raw silk yarn is made from broken cocoons or waste silk left in a cocoon after unreeling the center, and it possesses all of the attributes of silk except smoothness when spun into yarn. As a result, this yarn’s woven fabric has a rough appearance and a coarse surface. It’s well-known for bridal and heavy-duty occasion wear, and its strong character makes it ideal for hand embroidery. In different parts of India, raw silk is referred to as Resham or Dupion Silk.
Velvet sherwani
Velvet has always been linked with royalty, and deservedly so! Be it royal blue or maroon, shades and colors in the velvet fabric give it a regal and timeless look. Apart from the fabric, the embroidery or the stonework that is done on the sherwani’s also give it a striking look.
The velvet fabric being a thick one, it is a perfectly suited one for weddings in the monsoon and winter season.
The velvet sherwani due to its royal feel can be added to the list of the latest sherwani design marriage.
Zari sherwani
Zari has been the dominating factor in the previous times as well as the recent times. The designs might differ but the old age style of styling and prepping up sherwanis for the big day has remained the same.
What beautifies the zari designs most is the intricate designs that are mostly done by the craftsmen that give rise to the finesse it has been created with.
Sherwani with stonework
A Sherwani with stonework can give you a regal look on your big day. Not just the bling of the stonework is worth swooning over, but also the colors that create a prism can also get heads turning on.
As for the conventional styles, sherwani’s with stonework fit both sides.
Floral sherwani
Grooms and other males in traditional functions could only be seen in solid color kurtas or off-white sherwanis a few years ago. However, today’s Indian men boldly wear something as unconventional as a flowered sherwani. And if you think floral and macho are mutually exclusive terms, the flowery sherwanis you’re about to view will convince you otherwise!
There are two types of people when it comes to fashion and personal style: those that cling to the classics and those who prefer to explore. Throughout history, the ‘classic’ code has dominated men’s fashion. White, black, grey, blue, and other similar colors are thought to be more manly than others.
Fusion sherwani
Most weddings will feature Indo-western fashions such as cross-chest bandh galas, achkan styles for length, embroidered chest motifs with modern placement, and safes.
Grooms, like any other bride or bridesmaid, struggle to discover the perfect wedding outfit! Choose your favorite sherwani and put together a dazzling ensemble.
Brides have a plethora of styles and options, but believe me when I say that guys are no different! With brides stealing the show with their color and embroidery selections, the industry for grooms apparel responds with a plethora of options, ranging from color ideas to embroidery to distinct styles!
Grooms nowadays are more concerned with their attire and if it is particularly noteworthy or not. I’m sure you found this site after doing endless research on what to wear on your wedding day, whether you’re a bride seeking outfit alternatives for your soon-to-be husband. Whatever the case may be, we’ve compiled a list of over 30 sherwani styles for your big day, and trust me, you’ll look like a king.

PotpourriHK - Our Story
Eleven years ago, on the eve of Asthami of Durga Puja, I landed in Hong Kong with my 3 1/2-year-old son. My husband’s recent shift in career from sea to shore job made this change possible. Making this change was not an easy one from me. I left behind my family, friends, my known city and country behind in search of a new beginning, a new way of life, new career-a new everything.
I was lucky to be born in one of the most culturally, intellectually, socially conscious regions of India-West Bengal. Along with the love for food Bengalis all over the world are also famous known for their love for the quintessential Bengali saree. We all grew up seeing our grandmothers, mothers and aunts sporting the traditional “Gorod” saree during the Durga Puja days, a simple “Tant” for regular house wear in summers, the unforgettable “Benarasi”, or “Kanjivaram” silks for family weddings, the of course the intricately hand embroidered “Tussar with kantha” and of course “Dhakai Jamdani” for special family gatherings.
My mother was no exception. I will forever remember, the unadorned, yet pure look she had after bath each day-a red bindi on her forehead, a broad bordered “Tant” saree, (preferably in varying shades of yellow-her favourire colour) and her slightly wet hair loosely tied in a “khopa” or knot as its commonly known in Bengal. It was only natural, that my elder sister will eventually follow in similar footsteps, yet with certain minor changes, that affected the fashion trends of the day.
Other sarees over the years, followed suit-Kota, Shambhalpuri cotton, the reinvented and largely modernized handloom and Khadi cotton sarees, Kalamkari and Chanderi hand block printed sarees and many more. Not just sarees, the salwar kameez, ethnic printed skirts, kurtis- have now all become a part of not just Indians all over the world, but people from other countries, favor Indian garments, mostly because of their fine quality cotton, linen, silks and their intricately hand woven, hand embroidered designs and patterns.
With this heritage in fashion I landed in Hong Kong. Upon coming here, I was amazed by the multitude of well-dressed people from all walks of life and from their immense cosmopolitan background. I also noticed the unfortunate lack of any good, affordable Indian clothes store, housing our finest, cottons, silks, linens. The handful of shops, home entrepreneurs that were here, were selling inferior quality sarees, salwar suits, Kurtis and other traditional wear at exorbitant prices, keeping the price amount same, while changing the sign from Indian rupees to Hong Kong dollars.
This appalling state made me think about my own clothes line, where I wanted to share my rich heritage in fashion at affordable prices, without compromising on quality. Hence the birth of Potpourri. Check out my online store at https://potpourrihk.com .
My online store houses, traditional Indian sarees, for all occasions be it a simple kitty party for the social butterfly, to the glamorous Diwali functions, formal office parties, birthdays, naming ceremonies or weddings. Alongside sarees, I also bring to you a wide range of cotton, linen, handloom, clothes such as ethnic printed long skirts, palazzos, divided skirts, that are functional for everyday wear for all women, Indian or otherwise, young and old. My love for Indian clothes, also attempts to popularize our garments in this cosmopolitan country, where women are always keen to dress up in style and flare. Through this venture, I dream of bridging the gap between the customer and the hard-working craftsman scattered all over India.
