The party managed to escape into the sewers, but are unable to shake the guards. Armed with wands of magic missile the Istirian forces pursue them deep into the subterranean system, dealing heavy damage to the party front liners. Lumivarax goes down several times, much to Lillian's dismay as she struggles to heal him, but Victor saves him by breaking Haste on enemy wizards, causing them to abandon their chase.

With the guards fatigued, the party is able to slip away deeper into the tunnels under Dito. When they encounter a locked door Lydia manages to slip through in their more gelatinous form- but not unnoticed as Aknadin and Lillian clock the action, raising their suspicions about the strange "half-elf".

Worn out and low on health the party realized they aren't out of the woods yet as a bloated corpse rises from the knee deep water, the mummy grasping onto Lillian and cursing her with Mummy Rot.

Again the party is able to escape, and finally reach an exit overlooking the grand river that surrounds the city and marks the edge of the Istirian border. Safely on the other side they set up camp, Aknadin sending a message to update the queen on the disastrous peace mission to Istiria while Lydia and Buberry go hunting.

Victor, feeling the will of Sol driving him to protect Lillian and root out the foes who would have them falsely accused takes the oath of the paladin, asking Lillian to guide him. Sol, seemingly pleased, reaches out through them to cure Lillian’s mummy rot curse, the power turning a streak of Victors hair and Lillians purity ribbon a brilliant gold. Lumivarax welcomes Victor to the ranks of paladins.

Vanth meanwhile distances herself from the party to send a message to Corvus via her silver raven statue, asking if the Pike's death and their subsequent blame is part the Moon’s designs. Lumivarax attempts to attune to the Shadow Stone he found in the ruins near Trost, while Victor gifts Lillian a Ring of Spell Storing.

The next morning the Party heads back toward Augustine, encountering a seemingly deserted village. Lillian immediately recognizes it as the same one in her visions, but before she can warn the party properly Lydia ventures off to investigate alone, coming face to face with a dangerous shadow creature.
