Decided to let myself have some Kairro. It's been ages since I touched that AU and every time I do it feels self indulgent. Don't know why, a lot of people seem to really like it.

Prompt: "They don't care about you."

Randomly Selected Whumpee: Kai

Selection method: Asked a student I passed in the halls to choose a number.

“How many times do I have to beat you over the head with it!? They. Don’t. Care. About. You.” Morro snarled.

Kai raised his bloodied face and debated what comeback to use.

“I don’t know. How many times do I have to tell you that I’m not going to let you use your paranoia against me?” Kai said, his lip dripping wine red drops onto the concrete.

“They’re your abandonment issues.” Morro countered.

He was calming down and changing tactics. Probably realized that Kai’s temper had gotten the best of him again.

Morro made an excellent mirror to show Kai how ugly his anger could get if he didn’t control it.

“As if you didn’t have any of those yourself.” Kai laughed, wincing from the pain it caused him.

He just had to buy enough time for the others to find him. Nya was going to turn the whole room into a water park as soon as she saw Morro.

The trick was holding the line against the emotional manipulation. Hard to do when the manipulator lived in you head so long he left some of his things in the guest room.

“I left Wu, remember?” Morro said.

His smirk had Kai convinced he was looking at a mirror for a moment. It was to be expected. It went both ways after all.

Kai knew why Nya looked at him like a stranger sometimes. She never said anything about it, but Kai saw her every time she did it.

It had an effect.

Kai had slowly stopped bragging after Lloyd was forced to admit that he sounded more like Morro when he did it. When all of your friends get noticeably uncomfortable every time you get excited that you won a video game, you stop commenting on it.

Kai wondered how he used to sound when he would brag. How was it different? Did Morro get that trait, or did it disappear? Which one of them had “stronger” bragging mannerisms? If Morro got his way and they fuse, who would they sound like?

Would they sound like Kai when they told jokes? Would they keep that smirk, or would it disappear?

“And I never trusted anyone else long enough to get left behind.” Morro finished, yanking Kai from his thoughts.

He couldn’t think of a good retort. It had only been half a second, but Kai’s mind had wandered miles away from the conversation. It must’ve shown on his face, because Morro snarled again.

“I see you don’t have my focus.” Morro said sarcastically.

It wasn’t Kai’s sarcasm. It was a difference they still had.

Morro grabbed Kai’s face and dragged him up.

“Listen to me. They are waiting for the chance to get rid of you. You serve them now, but what happens when you get annoying? Too angry?”

Morro leaned in so close, Kai could smell the strange ghostly scent his spirit had.

“They will leave you.” he whispered.

“Like my parents?” Kai said with an eye roll.

He saw where Morro was going with it and he was sick of the line of thought.

“If the people biologically programmed to love you couldn’t manage it, why do you think they can?” Morro said as he dropped Kai.

Kai scrapped himself off the ground.

“Because they’re good people.”

“And your parents weren’t?” Morro said with a predatory grin.

Kai shivered and looked away, but he had thoroughly been caught off guard and didn’t have a response.

Just when he thought he had control of the conversation; that he had everything guarded, Morro came at him from an angle he didn’t think of and crawled under his armor. It was how it work from the very beginning.

“So, we agree he doesn’t ‘deserve’ to be the Green Ninja?”

Kai shook his head clear.

“So you don’t think your parents were good people?” Morro asked in a mocking voice.

“I-” Kai could only make the one sound.

“Because you’ve always defended them to Nya. You wanted to be a blacksmith and continue their legacy. You honor them every year on the Day of The Departed.” Morro continued.

“I do.” Kai whispered.

“That doesn’t sound like you hate them.” Morro said.

He was leading Kai to something. Kai didn’t like it, but he didn’t know how to break out of it.

“I don’t.” he confessed.

“But you should.” Morro pointed out.

He sounded so much like Kai’s therapist when he said it. It make Kai’s breath shake. He didn’t like the conversation. He wanted Morro to go back to trying to convince him the other ninja didn’t care about him.

“You should, but you don’t. Is that right?”

Morro didn’t give Kai a chance to answer.

“Then wouldn’t it be a good thing if I could hate them for you? If I could be angry for you? Then you can hate them like you should!”

Kai covered his ears. He knew what he was feeling. It was the same thing as the first time.

“He didn’t ask to be the Green Ninja. We did! Destiny passed up not one, but two perfectly good options to force the responsibility onto a child. That doesn't seem fair. You’re right, he doesn’t ‘deserve’ that! We could not only take what we worked so hard for, but relieve Lloyd of all that pain. That’s a good thing, right? We could work together and fix it!”

That sinking feeling that Morro was making sense. Scrambling for an argument, but nothing making as much sense as Morro’s words. Desperate to not agree, but finding no other thought in his mind.

Kai could only bite his lip and hope his friends were just around the corner. He wasn’t holding out for much longer.

What do you think would have happened in s5 if Kai had been possessed by Morro? Make it angsty

I really like Ivy’s Kairro AU but that’s not mine so I have to come up with something original now don’t I

Well going down the path of “Kai is jealous of Lloyd so Morro turns him against him!” Is too boring and predictable so Kai does everything in his power to hold Morro back. Kai’s love for his family is very strong and he does actually manage to endure the torture

In your kairro AU if they end up permanently fused I wonder how that would affect everything plus I have a headcanon that the time blades can't reverse someone soul the blades can only affect the body not the soul so even if they use the time blades Kai and morro will still be permanently fused together and I think by season 7-8 or 9 everyone has gotten use to kairro even jay because they all spend time together

I want to try to write for this, but my muse is kind of hiding from me as of late and I don't want to pry her out rn. So pin in this.

Your kairro AU reminds me of the song guts from unlike pluto it surprisingly fits the AU perfectly at least to me

You know I don't think kairro can be akumatized in your miraculous au simply because of the fact he is basically 2 souls in one body fused together plus he can burn the akum if it lands on him even if it lands on him I don't think hawkmoth would like the inside of kairro mind at all

I dropped Miraculous after Thomas started going on unhinged Twitter rants so IDK what new lore got introduced, but is there truly noway for two souls to share an Akuma?

Man I wonder how Kairro Skybound will be. I know Kai isn't in that season much and it wouldn't be that interesting without Morro but also I'm thinking about how awful it must be for Kai. At that point, Kai is trying to recover from Morro but the media is harassing the ninja and the fans are not leaving them alone. So Kai's recovery is probably already really difficult but adding the media and the fans on top if it probably makes it worse. I'm assuming. Sorry this post is so long.

That is something I hadn't thought of yet.

The ninja probably try to get away with just not saying much about it, but fans are going to notice Kai's behavior change and demand answers.

Morro is a more private person, and Kai's temper isn't going to respond well to feeling like people are prying.

He ends up doing some things that are ill-advised by PR. Word gets out that he’s seeing a therapist. Trashy tabloids are running wild, things are getting worse.

Dareth however earns his keep and works himself to the bone to keep it all managed. He gets the love triangle stories rerun with Jay, Nya, and Cole’s permission to distract from Kai. It works pretty well before Nadakhan upsets things.

After Nadakhan is defeated, Jay starts to see the same therapist as Kai, though less frequently. Said therapist encourages them both to be more open about their issues, and Kai finally starts speaking about some of it publicly. The narrative changes from Kai being unstable, to how dangerous their line of work is for their mental states. Dareth pushes this hard. Once Kai gets comfortable talking more about it, he becomes a spokesperson for destigmatizing mental health.

Kairro au: what if their memories started mixing together as well and caused even worse identity crises? Like kai and morro start having "childhood memories" of wu working at the forge or training with nya at the monastery as kids and they start losing grip on what actually happened in their lives? They'd have memories of completely different things happening at the same age and I could totally imagine that messing with someone--whether it's kai, morro, both, or kairro if they completely fuse

Whumptober 10

I decided to do some post-possession Kairro for this.

Prompt: Hospital

Randomly Selected Whumpee: Lloyd

It was raining. Lloyd didn’t know if that was welcome, or an insult to their situation. He was trying not to think about it.

Kai sat pensively, looking small in his hospital bed. He’s cheeks were starting to fill back out and his skin was finally looking like healthy color again. Lloyd was happy to see Kai physically improve, but mentally, Kai was still hurting.

He cough and Lloyd took the opening.

“Do you want some water?” Lloyd asked.

“Oh so now you care about what I want!?” Kai snapped.

Lloyd shrunk back. It wasn’t Kai’s voice he heard. Kai wasn’t that bitter. Kai’s anger was more raw and open, not spiteful and guarded like that.

Kai sighed, sounding more like himself again.

“Sorry Lloyd. I didn't mean it like that...I just….I’m angry.” he said, turning his eyes onto his blankets.

“I’m not sorry.” Lloyd said.

Kai’s face turned angry again, but he didn’t look up.

“I’m not sorry that we saved you. I’m only sorry we didn’t manage to do it sooner.” Lloyd said.

Kai turned away form him. Lloyd pouted. He wanted Kai back to normal so much.

“I hate that parts of you disappeared.” Lloyd tired.

“Only the weak parts.” Kai said quietly “They weren’t important.”

“They were important!” Lloyd insisted.

Kai finally looked at him with a blank stare.

“They were important because they were you!”

Kai scoffed at him. Lloyd hated it. He hated how it wasn’t Kai. He hated how the body language wasn’t right, how Kai was holding himself differently. Lloyd hated seeing flashes of someone else like that.

“And what if I was better without them, Lloyd?” Morro asked.

“Did it feel better?” Lloyd asked.

Kai’s face dropped into a surprised look, having been caught of guard by Lloyd’s question.

“Did it feel like you were better, Kai?” Lloyd asked firmly, making intense eye contact.

Kai’s gaze folded over to the side.

“It did and it didn’t.” he admitted.

There was no denying how awful it felt. Kai was still physically recovering at the very least, but his emotions were an even bigger wreck. Like the torn apart aftermath of a tornado. And Lloyd was there like a first responder, trying to pick through the debris for what could be saved.

At the same time, it had been oh so comforting.

“I was enough.” Kai said. “I felt proud and strong. For the first time in my life I felt like I could actually take what I wanted instead of begging.”

A tear broke loose and rolled down Kai’s cheek.

Lloyd reach over and grabbed Kai’s hand.

“You’ve always been enough, Kai. You are strong! You’re the strongest person I kno-”

“That’s Cole.” Kai cut him off, his tone sounding dangerously foreign again.

Lloyd gulped. He tried to focus on how Kai’s hand was still as warm as it always was.

“Cole didn’t save me from a volcano.” Lloyd said, holding Kai’s hand in both of his now. “Cole didn’t stay up the whole night with me after the Tomorrow’s Tea and let me break things. Cole didn’t volunteer to go to museum for me because he wanted to give me a break.”

Kai shuddered. Lloyd hoped it wasn’t a sob. He wasn’t sure of he could handle seeing his big brother cry again. That was near the top of his list of things he never wanted to ever experience again. It ranked over the final battle.

If only he hadn’t complained. If only he’d gone to the museum himself. If only he hadn’t hid behind Kai like a little kid again. When was Lloyd going to stop acting like a baby?

The rain outside was mocking him, Lloyd decided. He also decided that he hated hospitals.

So here's my Kairro drawing I spent the last few hours on. I wish I had lighter colors to do his skin tone, but what can you do? I'm lucky I got it as pale and green as I did. All my greens are really dark.

The green aura was a last minute decision and I was scared I was going to ruin it, but I love how it came out.

It was fun. Good choice.

Ok but you said my drawing gave you an idea and now I'm curious !

I have been trying and TRYING to write a snippet, but it's not working!! I give up! Maybe someday, but this has sat in the inbox long enough!

Basically my idea was that Kairro's fire is green and it becomes a tell for when Kai is possessed. Like Morro convinces Kai to act as if nothing is wrong and they both consciously hide the more Morro traits. The others are suspicious about it, but write it off as leftovers from the possession, until they see the fire. There is no excuse for that.

Which I thought would be fun, but the snippet isn't coming together.

You think when Kruz saw Kai when he was going threw withdrawals with Morro he thought he didn't have much to worry about. So when he's fighting with Kairro he wasn't expecting how strong (and angry) he was?

Quick question about the Kairro Au, Do the ninja bring Kai along in the season 5 finale or does Kai just follows them without them knowing? It seems a bit dangerous to bring him along since Morro is after him.

Oh Kai is supposed to be restrained and sedated during that fight, since the withdrawal is at its worst. Kai is probably just as eager as Morro is to go back, despite how toxic it is. The ninja leave him p much tied up so they can go fight Morro first. Then they will come back and start Kai's therapy when the world isn't in immediate danger.

but Kai is determined and the ninja aren't the best at tying knots when they're stress I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Life didn't want to let me write this. I’ve been trying to get this done all day, but stuff kept interrupting. If the flow is shit, that’s why.

Prompt: “Stop, please”

AU: Kairro

“No.” Kai said quietly.

“No?” Morro asked incredulously. “What the hell do you mean no?”

“I mean no, Morro. I’m not going to do it again!” Kai said, trying to force anger in his voice.

“Kai! I need you!” Morro begged “You’re everything I never knew I was missing! Please! You can’t just leave me like this!”

Kai squeezed his eyes shut and turned away.

“Kai.” Morro said softly. “Kai please. I need you. You have so much love and I can’t go back to having none after feeling that!”

Kai bite down hard on his lip.

“You’re really going to do this to me? After everything!?” Morro snapped.

Kai cringed.

“I know you want me back too.” Morro said “I know it. You feel that hollowness. That missing piece. That need to come back.”

“We hurt people. We hurt each other!” Kai finally said.

“We didn’t know what we were doing! We know better now! It’ll be better this time!” Morro promised

“Morro…” Kai whispered.

“We’re the only ones that understood Kai! We belong together! You know we do! You’re a part of me, and I know I’m in there with you. Why would you want to keep us apart like this?”

“Because!” Kai yelled.

“Do you really want to be alone again, Kai!?” Morro said darkly. “With no one who understands the pain? They’ll never get it Kai! You need me! I’m the only one who knows!”

“I-I-…“ Kai stammered.

“Are you really happy being weak and alone? Just a pathetic boy that has to struggle to be useful enough to keep around?” Morro jabbed.

Kai took a step back.

“Did you forget that we’re the same? Abandoned! Underestimated! Left behind!” Morro said, advancing on him “You’re not strong enough without me. You’re the weak link by yourself. How long until you aren’t enough anymore? Until they leave you too!?”

“They wouldn’t.” Kai muttered

“Do you know?” Morro asked “What if they do? You’ll be alone and helpless!” Morro said “If they decide tomorrow that you’re not worth the trouble anymore, you’ll have nothing! You’ll be alone.”

“but they wouldn’t.” Kai tried to protest.

“And if they do? What would that leave you with Kai!?” Morro asked. “You’ll be left behind, and you’ll be too weak to do anything about it.”

Kai swallowed hard and tried to not look at Morro

“I know Kai. I know because it happened to me!” Morro said in a desperate voice. “I don’t want to feel weak and alone anymore. I know you don’t either. Let’s fix it! We can do that so easy!”

“I don’t want to.” Kai said.

“You’re broken without me!” Morro snapped. “You’re missing pieces and I’m the one that has them! You need me back if you’re ever going to feel whole again!”

Kai shuddered and hugged himself. Morro was right about that.

“Do you really want to stay broken and weak, Kai?”

“No…but.”

“But you’re just going to be selfish!” Morro yelled.

“That’s not fair!” Kai yelled.

“No. No. You get all your love and sunshine and I’m up the creek! I get it! But you know you’ll end up just like me eventually. That selfishness is going to ensure it!” Morro lectured. “The only reason they tolerate you is because you’re convenient cannon fodder. When you aren’t useful anymore they’ll leave you and you’ll be just like me! Alone! Abandoned! Weak!”

Kai turned away defiantly.

“They hate you.” Morro said.

Kai tuned him out.

“None of them think you can do anything! You’re a burden to them!”

Kai was covering his ears.

“They think you’re too impulsive and chaotic.”

“Stop.” Kai said

“They don’t understand you.”

“Stop!” Kai repeated.

“Nya will always beat you.”

“I said stop it!” Kai started to yell

“Lloyd will always beat you.”

“I’m not listening!” Kai yelled

“You’ve never been strong enough to protect either of them.”

“Shut up!” Kai yelled.

“You’re not smart. You’re too impulsive. You’re weak. You can’t keep anyone around!”

“Stop it!” Kai yelled, starting to cry.

“Nobody is ever going to care about you like I do. No one else is going to tolerate this mess.”

“Please! Just stop!” Kai yelled.

“And anybody that can, is going to get taken a way because you’re too weak to protect them!”

“Stop. Please.” Kai whimpered.

“There’s only one thing that’ll make it go away, Kai.”

“I don’t want to.” Kai sobbed.

“Do you really mean that?”

Kai shuddered and cried, falling to his knees.

“No.” he admitted. “I…I miss you.”

“So why are you denying me?” Morro asked.

“I….” Kai mumbled, trying to remember his reasons “I….I don’t…”

“You don’t know, do you?” Morro asked with a smug smile.

Kai stayed silent. He didn’t have answer to rebuff him with.

Morro reached out his hand.

“Let me fix it, Kai. You’re in pain and I can help.” He said sweetly “You don’t have to be weak or alone. Give me your passion and you can have my confidence. We’ll share our strength and be better together.”

Kai bite down on his lip and tried to talk himself out of it.

“Kai…. You know you’re broken without me.” Morro said. “We both are without each other.”

Kai was so tired of feeling broken. He reached out and took Morro’s hand. It was for the best. They were the only people that could balance each other out. There was nobody that understood him better and they belonged with each other.

Again, that was like pulling teeth to get written. It’s probably not as good as I wanted it, but at this point I don’t care.
