Kailash - Mansarover Yatra is an ardous trip and on top of it, Indian government charges a hefty fee. In actual, the bare cost of the trip is less than 1/10th of what the government charges now. I hope Indian government is not practicing what Priests of Luther's time pardoned believer's sins for Money. May be, Indian govt. should allow anyone, make it accessible for a common man to take up Kailash-Mansarover yatra, just the way we allow anyone to trek Kedarnath or Climb up Tirumala to have Lord Venkateswara darshan. How many devotees would have climbed the Hill, had the TTD charged hefty sum : say Rs. 30000/- as an entry fee, medical charges for some checks  and some good amount for an individual's luggage to be carried up the hill ?  People's hope and faith can overcome many hurdles an individual can face during a spiritual journey and any governing body should exercise equality and help remove hurdles. In good old days, only few Hindus from every nook and corner of India could go and that too during their twilight  days, on a One-Way journey to Varanasi. Had it not changed now and should it not be same for Kailash-Mansarover Yatra ?

Around 5 lakh people visit Kedarnath and if the government allows/facilitate Common people for Kailash-Mansarover yatra, probably 2 lakhs people visit every year over 5 months. I don't think, there should be any problem allowing 2 lakhs piligrims to trek along Gungi-Kalapani-Taklakot route. We can put digital technologies to best use, use Aadhar card information or RFID for tracking, enroute we can provide eMedical facilities and other facilities that are pretty much feasible in present times. We are using Mules to still carry luggage. Can we not use Helicopters or Balloons to carry luggage? TTD had been providing some of the best Piligrimage services on Tirumala, very much affordable to a Common man. Why don't we involve an org like TTD to facilitate KMY. ?

Nepal tour operators had been conducting KMY pretty easily through a similar terrain via Simikot. Our MEA had been hand-holding this KMY as a prestigious tough project over so many years. Shouldn't it delegate now to some trust like TTD that would facilitate even Commons to undergo journey easily ?

Most of the Indians believe that walking on Himalaya Valleys on the way to Kailash-Mansarover as Holy, DevBhoomi. Few opine that stepping on DevBhoomi would liberate them from their sins and would attain Salvation. I think, the govt. at any cost should see that the traditional path to Kailash-Mansarover is made accessible to the Common Man.

I believe many who goes on Kailash-Mansarovar yatra could transfom for the better, transform from ego-centric nature to equanimous, eco-systemic nature.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

Upon your arrival at airport, our office representative will welcome you and then you will transfer to hotel. Overnight stay at Kathmandu hotel.

Day 2: Sightseeing around Kathmandu

Today, you will visit Pashupatinath, Swyambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bouddhanath stupa and many more places.

Day 3: Flight to Nepalgunj - (150m)

Today you will fly to Nepalgunj which is about 1 hour and then transfer to your hotel.

Day 4:flight to Simikot (2910m) and trek to Dharapuri - (2270m) 3 hrs Trek

We take flight to simikot and start our trek to Dharapuri for about 3 hours.

Day 5: Trek to Kermi - (2690m) 5 hrs Trek

Our lovely trail follows the meandering Karnali River as we pass shepherds herding sheep and goat in a timeless manner; here animals are loaded with local goods ready to trade at the border with Tibet. Another old tradition is the polyandry which is practiced throughout this valley.There is natural hot-springs located near our campsite at Kermi & plenty of time to enjoy them.

Day 6: Trek to Chumsa/Salle Khola valley - (3400m) 4 hrs Trek

While we reach to Salle pass then we follow right side small trail as flat one. Afterward, we walk through the pine forest and then Rhododendrons. Overnight in tented camp on full board meals. 

Day 7: Trek to Dharmasala - (4200m) 3 hrs Trek

IWe keep on following the beautiful river which is coming from the left valley of Dharamsala. Overnight in tented camp on full board meals. 

Day 8: Trek to Nyalu La pass (4990m) and Talung camp - (4380m) 7 hrs Trek

Today is one of the hardest days of the trip. We should carry enough drinking water & something to eat like dry foods. There is three parts to reach the top. First part is steeply ascended & rocky, afterwards visit a beautiful lake, second is slightly flat and the last part again steep. Today, you could have seen plateau of Tibet and Mt kailsh if weather permitted. From the Nyalu La 4990m top trail follows descend about an hour then mostly flat next two hours. Overnight in tented camp on full board meals. 

Day 9 : Trek to Jang - (4070m) 4 hrs Trek

Today, we trek down to Jang which is one of the biggest villages of the Limi valley & path follows beautiful & calm peace valley with incredible scenery. Overnight in tented camp on full board meals. 

Day10: Trek to Halji - (3670m) 3 hrs Trek

We follow the same valley to get Halji. It is naturally beautyful valley & we continue heading  to Halji. Overnight in tented camp on full board meals.

 Day 11: Rest day

Today, we can move to Til which is not so far. Overnight in tented camp on full board meals. 

Day 12: Trek to Til - (3600m) 2 hrs Trek

It's scenic valley through tress & field. Above the Til, there is also village where we do not visit but if you are interested to visit this village then climb up to the village but for the night you have to come back to the camp. Today, we could go ahead but lack of water we stop at Til. Overnight in tented camp on full board meals. 

Day13: Trek to Manepeme - (3970m) 2 hrs Trek

Today, we ascend long trail and descend too. It is amazing landscape and can see Karnali river. We have to set up our camp under the big rocks at Manememe. Somebody used to sleep under the rocks. Overnight in tented camp on full board meals. 

Day 14: Trek to Hilsa border and drive to Purang - (3770m) 3 hrs Trek

Trail is narrow and cliff, as you seen below into Karnali is so deep. This is why be concentrated while walk on you path. Our crew from Tibet, waiting to us. Before cross the border you need to provide some greetings & tipping to the crew who came from Simikot with us.And then drive to Purang about half an hour.  Overnight in tented camp on full board meals. 

Day 15: Drive to Tirthapuri - (4320m) 3 hrs Trek

After breakfast & if in previous day could not have finished officially documentation, finish it then drive to Tirthapuri via Darchen with scenery of the Tibetan plateau, Mt Gurla Mandata, Rashkyas Tal {lake}, Manosarovar lake & Mt Kailash. At Tirthapuri, there is a hot spring. Overnight in tented camp on full board meals. 

Day 16: Rest day (Optional excursion)

Today is rest day, We will visit around Padma Shambhaba caves monasteries & go for Kora. Overnight in tented camp on full board meals. 

Day17 : Drive to Darchen - (4670m) 2 hrs Drive

We drive back to Darchen, Visit around Darchen town & also Tibetan medicine center as well. If possible we will visit above Darchen for acclimatization & beware from the dogs. Overnight in tented camp on full board meals. 

Day 18: Trek to Drirapuk and start Kailash Parikrama - (5060m) 5 hrs Trek

Today, we start Mount Kailash kora from Darchen & certain camping stuffs carried by our supporter truck till Tarpoche tea shop then load on Yaks then start trekking from there our crew also. Overnight in tented camp on full board meals. 

Day 19: Trek to Dolma La Pass- (5630m) 3 hrs and to Zutulpuk - (4700m) 3 hrs Trek

This is the most important day of Kailash tour. Today we wake up early morning & after breakfast start to win the life timeline. We ascend approximately three hours to top of the Dolma La Pass 5630 meter abve sea level. & next 3 hours {first an hour gradually steeply descend} more to reach to the campsite. Overnight in tented camp on full board meals. 

Day 20: Trek for 3 hours and drive to Horcho Manasarovar lake - (4582m)

This is the most important day of Kailash tour. Today we wake up early morning & after breakfast start to win the life timeline. We ascend approximately three hours to top of the Dolma La Pass 5630 meter abve sea level. & next 3 hours more to reach to the campsite. Overnight in tented camp on full board meals. 

Day 21: Rest day

Explore around & visit Manosarovar lake. We will be at the lake till Chiu Gompa camp and mostly as high as Horchu. Overnight in tented camp on full board meals. 

Day 22: Drive to Thrugu GompaFrom the campsite we start to walk and after walking about an hour visit the Seralung monastery. Still, you can walk the direction of the campsite about an hour more and drive to the camp. It's a half day trip. Evening visit the Trugu Monastery. Overnight in tented camp on full board meals. 

Day 23: Drive to Chiu Gompa camp (Visit Gosul Gompa in between)

Today, we drive till Gosul Gompa and then can start to walk to Chiu gompa about 2/3 hours. Our staffs already could have set the camp at Chiu. There is a hot spring where you can take bath with certain amount paying. Overnight in tented camp on full board meals. 

Day 24: Rest day

Day 25: Drive to Dzongba (beside Brahmaputra) or New Dzongba - (4500m) 5 hrs Drive

This is the day of retuning to home. Today, we drive about 5/6 hours along the scenic landscape such Manisar, Payang & Bhramaputra with high passes above 5200m.Overnight in tented camp on full board meals. 

Day 26: Drive to Pilku Tso lake. Optional early morning drive to Zhangmu border) - (4330m) 5 hrs Drive

We drive along the interesting landscape with some passes. We can stop our Jeeps for taking pictures. We drive via Saga, cross the bridge of Bhrama Putra at Saga & continue drive to Pigutso. There is a lake but before Pigutso we could see one lake which is not Pigutso. You can walk to visit the Pigutso lake from the campsite about quarter hour. If you are decided not to stay at Pigutso then can be drive to Dzangmu next 3/4 hours. Overnight in tented camp on full board meals.

 Day  27: Drive to Zhangmu - (2300m) 4 hrs Drive

Today, we drive to Dzangmu via Thong la pass. And road brings you descend via Melarepa cave before reach to Nyalam 3782m. From Nyalam, drives between big hills and follow the Bhote Koshi, its scenic scenery along the way. Overnight in tented camp.

 Day 28: Drive for 20 minutes up to the Friendship Bridge and head to Kathmandu

Today, we are leaving Tibet land. Dzangmu where we stayed for the last night to friendship bridge, we drive about half an hour & our Tibetan guide prepared all necessary custom pass papers & time to say bye to Tibetan friends. We drive about 5 hours for Kathmandu. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 29: Departure

We will drop you to the International airport to catch your flight back to your home and pray for your Safe journey.

Itinerary Overview:

Day 01: Arrival in Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu (1350m)

After your arrival in Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu (1350m), we will be there with your name card. We will welcome you with Mala and transfer you to your respective hotel. Later in the evening we shall have a briefing about Kailash and our country Nepal.

Day 02: Fly to Nepalgunj (150m/492ft)

Today during the morning, we are going to visit Pashupatinath temple. This temple is a very famous and sacred Hindu temple, located on the bank of the Bagmati River. Pashupatinath temple was recognized as a UNESCO world heritage sites in 1979. After darshan, we shall drive toward to our hotel and prepare ourselves for our upcoming Yatra. Later in the afternoon we shall depart to the domestic Airport and fly to Nepalgunj by Yeti/Buddha airlines. This flight will take about 55minutes to reach our destination. Nepalgunj is a very hot place and as we arrive there we shall be transferred to the hotel.

Day 03: Fly to Simikot Humla (2950m/9676ft)

We take an early morning flight to Simikot. Flight will take about 55minutes to reach and land at Simikot airport. We will be there and transfer you to the Sun Valley Resort. Simikot is located in a mountain region and most of the people here follow Buddhism.

Day 04: Rest day at Simikot Humla

Day 05: Fly to Hilsa by Helicopter and Drive to Purang (3800m/ 12464ft)

We fly to Hilsa by helicopter; this flight will take about 20minute to reach Hilsa, once you land at Hilsa you shall cross Karnali River which is coming from Kailash region. Now we go through the immigration in China/Tibet side. These immigration formalities will take up to 30minutes and then drive continuously to Purang by bus. Purang is a small town with a beautiful landscape. You can walk around the in the evening and buy some trekking equipments etc.

Day 06: Drive to Holy Lake Manasarovar(4590m/15060ft)

Today we shall drive to Lake Manasarovar by bus; it will take 2 hours to reach (55km). On the way, you will see the Rakshas Taal. We will take short break and continue our drive to Lake Manasarover. Later in the afternoon we shall start Parikrama of Mansarovar- 105km and Holy Bath, Puja etc.

Day 07: Drive to Darchen (Kailash Base Camp) (4575m/15010ft)

Today we drive toward to Kailash Base Camp; it takes 45minutes to reach base camp, known as Darchen. Darchen is a small town like purang. It located in the case of Holy mount Kailash and is the starting point for pilgrimage in the region. In the evening you can even explore around the town.

Day 08: Drive to Yamdwar and trek to Diraphuk(4920m/16137ft)

Early morning trek, after breakfast, drive to Yamdwar. (15km) Yamdwar is the gateway to the parikrama of holy mount Kailash by foot. From here we can see the Kailash East/South face. From here our group will be divided into two. Parikrama group and non-Parikrama group. Parikrama group will start their trek by foot or horse. Non parikrama will drive back to Darchen by eco bus. Trekking will take about 5-6 hours to reach Diraphuk, the trail is not too hard. It might feel difficult because of the high elevation. From this point, you can see the best and closest view of Kailash.

Day 09: Trek to Zuthulphuk via Dolma la pass (4780m/15442ft)

We wake up very early in the morning with the Sherpa team, after breakfast we start up hill trekking to Dolma La pass (5560m/18236ft) this pass is the highest pass and the toughest part of our trek too. After Dolma La pass, we continue our walk as a down ward to the next valley Zuthulphuk. The holiest lake Gauri Kund is situated beyond the Dolma La pass. Hindu followers believe that, Lord Shiva’s wife Parvati was used to take bath in this lake. The total trekking to Zuthulphuk requires 10 to 12 hours and you have to cover 20 to 22km by one day.

Day 10: Trek to Zhongdo and drive to Purand/Hilsa (3800m/12464ft)

Early in the morning we shall start our trek to Zhongdo. Today trekking is quite easy and flat, after 2 hours, we shall reach Zhongdo and Eco bus will pick us up. Then we shall drive continuously to Purang/Hilsa.

Day 11: Fly to Simikot – Nepalgunj – Kathmandu

Early in the morning we get ready to fly by helicopter to Simikot. Flight will take about 20 minutes to reach Simikot and continue our flight to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj.

Day 12: Final departure

Today is the final day of this Kailash tour. We shall drop you off at the airport for your final departure, according to your flight schedule. And lastly fly back to your sweet home.
