Salar: Log toh duaaon mein chaand bhi maangte hai, phir tumhe sirf ek chota sa ghar kyu?
Sitara: Chaand maangne walon ko ye andaza nahi hota na ki agar dua qabool ho gayi toh hatheliyan jal jayengi.
Salar: Aur kya pata ki duaaon mein maanga hua chaand thanda hi ho.
Sitara: Chaand agar thanda bhi hua toh hum rakhenge kahan? Humare ikhtiyar mein asmaan thodi hai.
Salar: Chaand rakhne ke liye zameen bhi buri nahi hai waise.
Sitara: Ab aise bhi kya anaa ki apni zidd poori karne ke liye asmaan ke jhoomar ko zameen par utara jaaye aur khaak mein mila diya jaaye.

Understanding the Breakers of Fasting: A Comprehensive Guide with FatawaPedia
Fasting during the holy month of Ramadan is one of the Five Pillars of Islam, serving as a means of spiritual growth, self-discipline, and devotion to Allah. However, to reap the full rewards of fasting, it’s essential to understand what can break or invalidate a fast, known in Islamic terms as Mufsidat al-Sawm (the breakers of fasting). Knowing these factors will help you safeguard your fasts and ensure that they are accepted by Allah. source:مفسدات الصوم
At FatawaPedia, we provide expert advice and resources to help Muslims understand the complexities of fasting, including the various actions that can invalidate a fast. Our services are designed to guide you through these rulings, making it easier to observe fasting with clarity and confidence.
What Are Mufsidat al-Sawm?
Mufsidat al-Sawm refers to any action or behavior that breaks the fast during the daylight hours of Ramadan, from dawn (Fajr) until sunset (Maghrib). These actions can range from intentional eating or drinking to actions that go against the spiritual purpose of fasting. The following are key breakers of fasting that every fasting individual should be aware of:
1. Eating or Drinking
The most well-known action that invalidates fasting is intentionally eating or drinking during fasting hours. Even the smallest amount of food or drink can break a fast. This includes:
Food and drinks: Any kind of edible or drinkable substance consumed intentionally during fasting hours will invalidate the fast.
Medication: Taking medicine orally, whether in pill, syrup, or any other form, also breaks the fast.
2. Intentional Vomiting
If a person deliberately induces vomiting, it invalidates the fast. However, if vomiting occurs unintentionally, the fast remains valid, and no expiation is required.
3. Sexual Intercourse
Engaging in sexual relations during fasting hours completely invalidates the fast and requires both Qada (making up the fast) and Kaffara (expiation), which involves fasting for 60 consecutive days or feeding 60 poor people.
4. Menstruation or Post-Natal Bleeding
For women, menstruation or post-natal bleeding (Nifas) invalidates the fast. During this time, women are exempt from fasting and are required to make up the missed fasts later when they are able.
5. Deliberate Masturbation
Like sexual intercourse, masturbation during fasting hours invalidates the fast and necessitates both Qada and Kaffara.
6. Smoking
While smoking does not directly enter the body through eating or drinking, it is still considered one of the breakers of the fast due to the physical and spiritual harm it causes.
7. Heart or Nasal Intakes
Using items such as nasal sprays, injections, or suppositories can invalidate the fast if they enter the body in a way that mimics eating or drinking.
