Build idea for a silly fun street car:
First gen is300
Engine swapped to a 2UR 5.0L V8
Transmission swapped to an R154 5-speed
KAAZ 1.5 way diff, 4.3 ratio
KW fancy street coilovers with the hydraulic lift kit to give it more ground clearance.
18x8” stock looking rims with Michelin pilot sport cup 2 tyres
Valved exhaust for party mode and quiet mode, equal length headers for the sound.
Tune engine for cylinder deactivation purely to get some degree of fuel efficiency while driving.
FL5 Civic type r seats up front (supposedly the best oem reclining bucket seat ever reviewed)
Idk why but I keep coming back to the is200/300 as a perfect daily. Its small, RWD, manual with immaculate build quality and insane suspension geometry for its day. The very fact that BMW bought a few of them to take apart and baseline is wild. I’ll definitely be owning one during my life time, even if it’s an auto 2L that remains completely stock

Coilovers vs Bags - Which is Best For You?
Choosing between coilovers and air ride systems for lowering your car involves weighing various factors related to performance, convenience, and personal preferences. Let’s explore these suspension options in more depth.
youtube
Starting with coilovers, these are an excellent choice for enthusiasts seeking improved performance from their lowered vehicle. Coilovers offer adjustability in damping, rebound, and compression rates, providing a range from stiffer setups designed for track-focused driving to softer configurations ideal for daily commuting. Tuning the height on coilovers requires some effort and patience, often involving adjusting the threaded spring perches or collars. However, the payoff is enhanced handling, reduced body roll, and overall better performance on the road. The precision and customization options of coilovers make them favored among driving enthusiasts looking to optimize their car’s dynamics. Popular brands of coilovers we recommend and carry are: KW Suspensions, ST Suspensions, BC Racing, Fortune Auto, Ohlins, D2 Racing, H&R, HKS, Bilstein.
Shop All Coilovers Here
On the other hand, air ride systems offer unparalleled convenience and versatility when it comes to adjusting ride height. With air ride, altering the car’s height is as simple as clicking a button or turning a dial, allowing quick and effortless adjustments on the fly. This flexibility makes air ride systems perfect for achieving extreme low stances while still retaining the ability to raise the car for drivability over speed bumps or rough roads. The comfort level with air ride tends to be higher compared to coilovers, offering a smoother and more adjustable ride. We recommend Air Ride parts from: Airlift, Accuair, D2 Racing, KSport, Ride Tech, AirRex.
Shop all Air Suspension Kits Here
However, while air ride systems excel in convenience and versatility, they may not match coilovers in terms of ultimate performance. Generally, air ride setups are not as adept at handling aggressive driving styles compared to coilovers. The air springs in air ride systems tend to have more give, affecting handling and responsiveness, especially during high-performance maneuvers or aggressive cornering.
Both coilovers and air ride systems have their distinct advantages and limitations. Coilovers prioritize performance and handling, providing a tailored suspension setup for driving enthusiasts seeking improved dynamics. On the contrary, air ride systems offer unparalleled adjustability and convenience, making them ideal for those who prioritize versatility, extreme lowering, and ease of adjustment.
Ultimately, the choice between coilovers and air ride systems hinges on individual preferences, driving habits, and the specific goals for the lowered car—whether it’s optimized performance, extreme lowering, or convenience in height adjustment. Understanding these differences helps enthusiasts make an informed decision based on their priorities and intended use for their vehicle.

KW has developed two new Solid-Piston suspensions
Tumblr media
KW has developed two new Solid-Piston suspensions for the Lotus Emira: DTM suspension technology for retrofitting on both road and racetrack Fichtenberg (Germany), November 27, 2023 – As the British sports car brand Lotus gears up to exclusively offer electrified vehicle models, it bids farewell to its mid-engine sports car, the Lotus Emira. KW automotive, a renowned suspension manufacturer, unveils two four-way adjustable coilover suspension kits, the KW V5 and KW V5 Clubsport, both boasting TÜV approval for this iconic sports car. Both coilover kits utilize KW's innovative solid piston design, enabling independent adjustment of high-speed and low-speed compression and rebound forces. Offering a stepless lowering range of 10 to 30 millimeters, each kit caters to specific driving preferences. The KW V5 Clubsport coilover is meticulously engineered for regular track day enthusiasts with semi-slick tires, while the KW V5 coilover is recommended for those seeking to inject the Emira with the spirited handling of a Gran Turismo, prioritizing enhanced ride comfort. More at www.kwsuspensions.net KW automotive is one of the first suspension manufacturers in the aftermarket to offer coilovers with solid piston dampers, including parts certification. KW's successful KW Solid-Piston technology, initially developed for the GT3 customer sports program, is now used in increasing street and track day suspension applications. Even for off-road vehicles like the Mercedes-Benz G-Class or sport cars like Porsche 911, KW is developing its solid piston shocks. Converting the Lotus factory suspension to the KW V5 coilover or KW V5 Clubsport suspension does not compromise the Lotus's sporty handling. The era when upgrading to high-quality coilovers sacrificed ride comfort is long gone. "With the introduction of the V5 and V5 Clubsport coilovers, we now offer this cutting-edge technology for the Lotus Emira," says KW Brand Manager Florian Johann. "The significant advantage of our Solid-Piston dampers is that we can work more intensively with damper hydraulics and streamline the entire system for a more compact design." Notably, the KW V5 and KW V5 Clubsport suspensions for the Lotus Emira eliminate the need for external reservoirs with hose connections or fixed piggybacks. Unlike conventional mono-tube and twin-tube dampers where the working piston and valves can overflow, this is not the case with KW V5 coilover suspension kits. The entire oil column is displaced from the piston into the valve housing, equipped with independently adjustable high-speed and low-speed compression as well as high-speed and low-speed rebound valves. This damping technology allows the KW solid-piston-based suspension to respond with heightened sensitivity to factors like road irregularities, enabling smoother damping. Despite minimal suspension travel, this damping capability guarantees the Lotus Emira's stability and effortless control at its limits. Even on rough roads, the mid-engine sports car's handling can notably improve due to these characteristics. Individually Adjustable Four-Way Damping Both coilover suspensions offer independent compression and rebound valves adjustment, offering 14 clicks available in both high-speed and low-speed settings. High-speed and low-speed refer to the movement of the damper's piston rods, not the vehicle's speed. Fast piston rod movements occur during compression and rebound over rough or uneven asphalt, including when driving over bridge expansion joints. Slow damping velocities, on the other hand, applies to activities like acceleration, braking, and steering. "The best way to remember this is: anything that affects the suspension from the road is a high-speed input, while anything caused directly by the steering wheel or pedals is a low-speed input," explains Florian Johann. "The compression setting affects the compression phase, while the rebound setting is responsible for the rebound phase." The ability to independently adjust the V5 dampers in each parameter allows for increased ride comfort without sacrificing handling. For instance, users can tailor high-speed valve settings for a more comfortable compression and rebound, while opting for stiffer low-speed damping for sharper handling. For avid track enthusiasts, KW recommends the KW V5 Clubsport coilover suspension due to its higher spring rates, unibal-mounted attachment components, and optimized design for semi-slick tires. Both coilover suspensions available for the Lotus Emira come with parts certification, and the ride height can be continuously adjusted between 10 and 30 millimeters at both the front and rear axles. #kwsuspension #rpmmag #rpmmagazine Read the full article

Coilover suspension: what is it and what are the benefits?
Coilover suspension: what is it and what are the benefits?
Track racing is all about maximizing performance and speed, and having a properly set up suspension system can make a significant difference in achieving those goals. One of the most popular suspension setups for track racing is the coilover suspension system. In this blog post, we’ll discuss what a coilover suspension is, the benefits of using one for track racing, and how to properly set it up for optimal performance.
What is a coilover suspension?
A coilover suspension is a type of suspension system that combines a coil spring and a shock absorber into one unit. The term “coilover” is derived from the words “coil spring” and “over shock”. The spring sits on top of the shock absorber and is held in place by a threaded collar, which allows for adjustable ride height.
Benefits of using a coilover suspension for track racing
One of the main benefits of using a coilover suspension for track racing is its adjustability. The threaded collar on the shock absorber allows for fine-tuning of the suspension to suit the specific needs of the track and the driver. This adjustability allows for changes in ride height, compression and rebound damping, and spring rates.
Another benefit of using a coilover suspension is its weight savings. Coilovers are typically lighter than traditional shock and spring setups because they eliminate the need for separate springs and shocks. This weight savings can improve the car’s handling and reduce unsprung weight, which in turn improves acceleration, braking, and cornering.
Setting up a coilover suspension for track racing
Properly setting up a coilover suspen
sion for track racing can be a complex process, but following these steps can help ensure optimal performance:
Determine your goals: Before making any adjustments to your coilover suspension, it’s important to determine your goals for track racing. Are you looking to improve lap times, reduce understeer or oversteer, or improve overall handling? Understanding your goals will help you make informed adjustments to the suspension.
2.Adjust ride height: Adjusting ride height is the first step in setting up a coilover suspension. Lowering the car’s center of gravity can improve handling, but it’s important not to lower the car too much, as it can result in ground clearance issues.
3.Adjust dampening: Compression and rebound dampening are two settings that can be adjusted on a coilover suspension. Compression damping controls the rate at which the suspension compresses, while rebound damping controls the rate at which the suspension rebounds. Adjusting these settings can help improve handling and reduce body roll.
4.Adjust spring rates: Spring rates determine how stiff the suspension is. Stiffer springs can improve handling and reduce body roll, but they can also result in a harsh ride. Softer springs can provide a more comfortable ride, but can also result in increased body roll.
5.Test and adjust: After making adjustments to your coilover suspension, it’s important to test the car on the track and make any necessary adjustments. It may take several iterations of adjusting and testing before you achieve the desired performance.
Conclusion
Coilover suspensions are a popular choice for track racers because of their adjustability and weight savings. Setting up a coilover suspension for track racing can be a complex process, but following the steps outlined in this blog post can help ensure optimal performance. Remember to take your time, test and adjust, and always prioritize safety on the track.
What are some of the best brands?
KW Suspension: KW Suspension is a well-respected suspension brand that offers a wide range of coilover kits for various makes and models. Their products are known for their high-quality construction and excellent adjustability.
2.Bilstein: Bilstein is another popular brand in the suspension world, known for their high-performance shock absorbers and coilover kits. They offer a range of kits for various applications, including track racing.
3.HKS: HKS is a Japanese company that has been producing high-performance automotive parts since the 1970s. They offer a range of coilover kits for various makes and models, including some specifically designed for track use.
4.Ohlins: Ohlins is a Swedish company that produces some of the highest quality suspension components in the world. They offer a range of coilover kits for track racing, with their products being used by some of the top race teams in various motorsports.
5.Tein: Tein is a Japanese company that produces high-performance suspension components for a range of applications, including track racing. Their coilover kits are known for their adjustability and durability.
6.It’s important to note that the best coilover for track racing will vary depending on the specific make and model of your car, as well as your specific goals and needs. It’s always best to do thorough research and consult with a professional to determine which coilover kit is best for your application.

Novitec has upgraded the Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica with a subtle aftermarket body kit, new wheels and a retuned chassis Lamborghini presented the Huracán Tecnica in early April 2022. It closed the gap between the Evo and the STO and received several improvements from the start. Nevertheless, Novitec has made some upgrades to the model. Here we go. With the goodies from the tuner, the already sporty appearance of the super sports car is spiced up quite subtly with further changes. At the front of the vehicle, Novitec left the front apron unchanged, but replaced the hood. It has slits on the outer edges that direct the air through the component via integrated channels. This is to help stabilize the Huracán at high speeds. Novitec also added new rocker panels on the sides that visually lower the car and have integrated air intakes to cool the rear brakes. Aftermarket suspension options are also offered, further lowering the ride height. A set of sports springs lowers the car by 35 millimeters. An aluminum coilover kit developed in cooperation with KW reduces the ground clearance by the same amount and also offers 14 selectable damping settings. The Lamborghini's naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 engine remains unchanged. It still delivers 640 hp and a torque of 565 Newton meters. The car manufacturer transmits the power of the engine to the rear wheels of the super sports car via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Although nothing happens to the drive, the tuner offers Huracán owners the opportunity to change the exhaust sound of the engine. A high-performance exhaust system made of stainless steel or Inconel is therefore in the program. The Inconel system is also available with a 999 fine gold coating for additional thermal insulation. The exhaust system is integrated into the hexagonal tailpipes of the Tecnica from Lamborghini. The rear wheels are larger than the front, measuring 21 inches. 20-inch rims sit on the front axle. The rear tires are also wider than the stock Tecnica, which should improve the car's handling. The staggered wheels are from Vossen and are available in 72 colors with a polished or brushed finish. Novitec hasn't revealed many details about the interior, but the specialist does offer a range of options to meet all customer needs. The company offers various leather and Alcantara colors that customers can use to further customize their vehicle.

New Post has been published on https://www.vividracing.com/blog/pink-porsche-991-turbo-vrforged-d12-wheels/
We just had a very fun project here at Vivid Racing HQ that is this Porsche 911 991.2 Turbo. We gave it the VR Treatment full of amazing bolt-ons and a bit of carbon pieces. This combination turned the 911 Turbo into one and only full-blown a rocket ship! This car was bone stock except for it already had KW Club sport coilovers on it, which was awesome honestly a perfect platform for us to be doing some performance mods to make this car just a bit more enjoyable honestly just a really fun Street touring car future.
Let’s get into what exactly we’ve done to this car we added an Armytrix Valvetronic Exhaust system, a VR Performance Cold Air Intake system along with Diverter Valves and some aero bits to this car.
Shop all ARMYTRIX Exhausts Here
Our first step was installing an Armytrix Valvetronic Exhaust System, which gives you options to open or close the exhaust valves with a remote controller. When the valves are fully open for maximum flow and power, it creates an exotic tone and allows for higher performance. When the valves are closed, exhaust volume is reduced for a more comfortable drive.
Shop all VR Tuned ECU Flashes
The 991.2 Turbo performance was greatly improved with an ECU Flash. Like all turbocharged vehicles, changing the vehicle’s calibration allows for improvement of the vehicle’s throttle response, horsepower, and torque. The car will rev out faster, which will reduce the sluggish off-the-line feeling till the peak of the powerband hits. The mid-range pulls harder in its peak torque and horsepower zones, allowing the car to increase power all the way to redline.
In stock form, the 3.8L Turbocharged Flat 6 made an impressive 540lb-ft of torque and 487 all-wheel horsepower. After adding the intake and the exhaust, we made 465 WHP and 517lb-ft of torque on our Mustang. Keep in mind, that the 991.2 Turbo was running on 91 octane with our dyno room being over 100°F – you will experience much better gains in more optimal conditions. But once we added our Stage 1 VR Tuned ECU Flash combined with the Armytrix system, we experienced a respectable gain of 98 lb-ft of torque and 58 all-wheel horsepower. Keep in mind, that the 991.2 Turbo was running on 91 octane with our dyno room being over 100°F – you will experience much better gains in more optimal conditions. Ever since we’ve been doing the 996 turbos 997 turbos, all of the Porsche Turbos get a tremendous increase by doing an ECU tune.
More information on the VR Tuned ECU Flash for the Porsche 911 991.2 Turbo can be here
Let’s dive into Exterior Mods. We outfitted this 991.2 Turbo with some tasteful carbon fiber aero pieces. The first we did was adding the DarwinPro GT2RS Style Carbon Fiber Trunk Spoiler and the VR Aero Carbon Diffuser, this combination added serious sauce to the rear of the car. To balance out the rear, we added the ParwinPro Front Lip and the Porsche OEM RS Side Skirts. This completes the OEM+ aesthetic that we are looking to achieve.
  Shop VR Forged D12 Wheels
After the 911.2 has made its way back back to the owner @lambo_208, He’s done some sick final touches to the car with a fresh wrap and powdercoated wheels. The VR Forged D12 Wheels are designed to work with most OEM TPMS sensors, some OEM lug nuts, or aftermarket lug nuts and bolts. The wheels are also designed to work with OEM brakes and most big brake kits. The wheels feature engraved logos and a machined VR logo center cap. The front wheels are a 20×9 +45mm and the rear wheels are a 20×12 +45mm.
