1st December,

“Cazel, what excites you the most?” They asked.

“Learning new things, and make friends I guess?” Well, You might want to know more about me later.

Oh, right! Meet my companion, sebenarnya ada banyak— tapi kali ini aku akan ceritain dulu 12 of them.

Sasyira Dealova Si manis yang selalu senyum tiap menyapa, dia ada di divisi publishing dan aku rasa cocok banget sama kepribadian dia yang sangat welcoming. Waktu ngobrol bareng, dia bilang gak punya alasan khusus karena ketimbang writing atau editing— panggilan hatinya ada di publishing.

Kenan Pradipta Kenan bercerita penuh antusias begitu kami bertemu, awalnya dia minat untuk masuk di divisi writing tapi berakhir ada di divisi publishing. Kenan suka sekali mengobrol, kalau kata dia sih meskipun banyak omong yang penting bisa bermanfaat di publishing. Publishing sendiri cocok dengan dirinya yang tipikal marketing, dan Kenan tertarik untuk berkembang lebih

Mera Cellea dKailee Jauh sebelum bergabung besama PopTeens, adik lucu satu ini sudah memiliki job di dunia tulis menulis. Beberapa karyanya pun sudah beredar luas, dengan pengalaman yang dimilikinya Mera ingin memperluas koneksinya dan juga belajar bersama staff lainnya.

Kayesha Lynelle Teman satu divisi ku, Kayesha yang tersenyum saat aku bahas mengenai edit, awalnya dia merasa pasrah. Meskipun ia belum terlalu terbiasa, tapi dia mau memulai semuanya dari awal dengan giat. Aku suka semangat yang dimiliki oleh dirinya! Dan aku yakin juga nantinya kita akan jadi divisi yang hebat.

Galeana Nathalie Sama seperti ku, Galeana berujar bahwa ia selalu mengedit di waktu luangnya. Galeana selalu tampil modis dan menjalani hari sebagai mahasiswi kupu-kupu alias kuliah pulang kuliah pulang, dan ketimbang gabut— mengambil divisi editing bukanlah pilihan buruk malah faktanya pilihan terbaik.

Mauricio Noelle Aku sama sekali gak kaget ketika dia bilang kalau dia E alias Extrovert mungkin itu alasan kenapa huruf E di namanya ada banyak. Ia memilih divisinya yang sekarang ini karena menyukai tantangan! Menurutnya, perlu skill untuk bisa menghubungkan banyak pihak. Dia juga sangat ekspresif, kurasa kita akan berteman baik.

Deril Arsyanendra. “Kaya mimpi!” Ujarnya ketika kami membahas mengenai saat keterima di PopTeens. Meskipun saingannya satu dunia, Kak Deril senang bisa diterima di divisi pertamanya dan senang dengan kerja sama yang terjalin baik.

Risa Zemira Aku dan risa bertukar pandangan mengenai hobi masing-masing, lalu kesan pertamaku adalah Risa menyenangkan dan ia pemerhati yang baik bagi teman disekitarnya. Risa berada di divisi writing karena sesuai dengan karakternya yang pintar menuangkan cerita dalam sebuah karya tulis.

Jan Razka Evander Bermodal rasa nekat dan keinginan lebih, teman baruku yang satu ini akhirnya berakhir di divisi yang sama denganku— editing. Dia memiliki beberapa basic editing dan katanya tertarik buat belajar lebih banyak hal lagi.

Jolie Ophelia Pilihan pertamanya divisi editing sama seperti diriku, how lucky i am bisa satu divisi sama Jolie yang ceria dan friendly. Baginya, editing itu adalah hal yang dia sukai ketimbang memilih wording atau publishing.

Deon Abraham Kakak seniorku yang satu ini sangat pandai menulis, aku pun kagum dan menjadikan dia sebagai panutanku. Kak deon mengaku tertarik dengan konsep project kali ini dan kesukaannya pada dunia writing membuatnya semakin yakin untuk berada di PopTeens.

Harlan Hardynata Kak Harlan yang begitu berwibawa dan ramah ternyata juga satu divisi denganku. Bekerja bersama kak Harlan membuatku banyak mengobrol dengannya, dia senang berada di divisi ini dan seringkali memberikan tips tentang semangat mencari inspirasi dari berbagai sumber untuk menghasilkan editan.

Kabir: Excuse Me Ayesha are you out of your mind!Micah is your ex and he was abusive to you! I don’t understand how could you let him back in your life?!

Ayesha: same way how Pari let you in hers!

Kabir: Ayesha! Don’t compare him with me!

Kabir: dyou want me to call a cab for you Ayesha?

Ayesha: are you kidding me right now Kabir?

Kabir: go ahead! I’m not stopping you. *shrugs his shoulder*

Ayesha: UNBELIEVABLE! *opens the door and and slams it back and walks out*

Kabir: *unwinds his window* Are you really gonna walk away now?

Ayesha: You crazy?! You just asked me to leave you moron!

Kabir: So you won’t fight back now Angsty Ayesha? Just because you’ve got Micah back in your life?

Ayesha: *walks closer to Kabir’s car* Honestly, you crazy! What do you want me to do now? What does Micah gotta do with all these? I’m done with your crap! Leaving right now!

Kabir: leave! Just leave! Go back to that shithole person but mark my words, you’d come back to me in no time!

Hectic Few Weeks Ahead For Miss World-Philippines Team

Arnold Vegafria and his Miss World-Philippines Team will have a few hectic weeks ahead of them after choosing forty lovely Filipinas as Official Candidates for next month's Finals, Aside from the grueling schedule of the national pageant, they are hosting reigning Miss World Vanessa Ponce De Leon of Mexico and more than seventy hunks from all over the world who are vying for Mister World 2019 Finals scheduled on August 23, 2019 at the Araneta Coliseum.

A welcome reception  party for Vanessa and the early arrivals was held at the Novotel Hotel last August 6, 2019. Vanessa expressed her excitement to be here in Manila and hopes to have fun times with her Pinay sister Katarina Rodriguez (miss World-Philippines 2018) and Megan Young (Miss World 2013). "Despite the hectic and fast paced schedule, I hope to enjoy the beaches here" she enthused during the short interview.

The men all mentioned that they would love to go to the world famous sights during their stay in the country. The Philippines is represented by UP alumnus JB Saliba who promised to show his co-delegates our renowned Filipino hospitality.

To India & back

After demonstrating our willingness to learn in class, writing an essay to confirm this and having our professors’ recommendation, 15 City University of New York (CUNY) students were chosen to participate in a Study Abroad Program in India.

The program was designed to allow us a practical approach to sustainability from a global perspective. At the end, we were expected to gain knowledge on the theory and practice of sustainable development, bridge our traditions with the modern world, spirituality with science and wisdom with practice, and also create an opportunity for cultural exchange, thereby broadening our perspective on life. For the most part, we will be accommodated at Govardhan EcoVillage (GEV), a “biodiversity hotspot” just outside the city of Mumbai, but will visit the heart of Mumbai and other outlying communities for a few days. 

We are from 4 CUNY Schools – Bronx Community College, La Guardia Community College, Medgar Evers College and York College.

Congratulations are in order for Miss Philippines (and former Binibini) Kayesha Chua for winning the 5th Miss Asia Awards 2019 in Hochiminh, Vietnam last night.

She was also awarded Best in National Costume where she wore a creation by Patrick Isorena.
