Jimmy Can't Give Curly Mercy

So I've seen people say that Jimmy putting Curly in the cryopod was an act of cruelty and they're right but for the wrong reasons. Most people say that because they believe Curly's state of being is so awful he'd be better off dead. Which is ableist for someone else to decide. Curly wanting to die would be one thing but no one asks post crash Curly what he wants. Nothing that happens to Curly post crash is for his benefit or done based on what he wants because no one seems to ask him or listen when he does make his wishes known.

Jimmy can't give Curly mercy because he's still dehumanizing Curly even at the end. He's also still Curly's abuser who has absolute power over him and can do with Curly as he pleases. Whether Curly lives or dies is entirely up to his abuser.

When Jimmy put Curly into the cryopod it was just an abuser deciding to let his victim live for the sack of his own ego. If Jimmy had killed Curly it would have just been an abuser murdering his victim because he was finally done with him. Jimmy can't give Curly mercy because he'd have to do what Curly wants and what Curly actually wants isn't even a concept to Jimmy because he can't see Curly as his own person.

Iirc he admitted it to the Polke hallucination only to use Curly as a scapegoat again! Seriously Polle's making fun of his victim complex and Jimmy's response is "Curly tried his best". After that Polle is like "you really believe that, huh? Then why are you so concerned with him?" Cause like Jimmy is still scapegoating Curly after everything he just said!

Jimmy after being a toxic, manipulative, abusive friend to curly for years, the reason curly lost all of his skin, his eye, ability to speak, and had to have all of his limbs amputated, which left him in a state of constant agony for months and months, physically and medically abusing curly when he was at his weakest and most vulnerable, causing the deaths of all of Curly’s beloved crew members, sawing off part of what remained of his leg and forcibly feeding it to him, and dooming curly to an uncertain fate: you’ve always been a better man than me, Curly.
