雷鋒網註:作為國內兩大電商巨頭,後來者京東雖然建立了自己的品牌特色,但與阿里巴巴相比還是有不小的差距。不過,隨著機器人與人工智能的發展,電商的新時代來臨,而對於京東來說這是一個彎道超車的機會。現在的京東正試圖再次升級自己的物流網絡,這次它們要依靠機器人、自動駕駛汽車和人工智能。本文來自 The Information,作者 Juro Osawa 在雙十一之前對劉強東進行了採訪,聊了聊京東如何用機器人和無人機對抗阿里巴巴。
雖然貴為電商巨頭京東的創始人,但劉強東好像一直活在競爭對手阿里巴巴的陰影里。
2011 年年初的京東體量還不大,當時阿里巴巴就試圖說服劉強東放棄 ” 正面對抗 “,在自家平台上開設京東官方店。如果當時劉強東欣然應允,現在的中國電商市場絕對是另一個樣子,阿里巴巴的業務和流量也會再上一個台階。不過,據劉強東講述,當時要拒絕阿里巴巴是有代價的,京東會失掉支付寶支付系統的支持。
劉強東藝高人膽大,他拒絕了阿里巴巴的條件並停止接入支付寶,但很快銷量就開始出現下滑。在最近的一次採訪中,劉強東回憶稱,” 當時阿里可是胡蘿卜和大棒都準備好了。”
對於劉強東的談判細節回憶,阿里巴巴選擇否認,但它們並未提供什麼具體細節來為自己辯解。
六年過後,京東早已今非昔比,坐在北京總部大辦公室里的劉強東身價也已超過 100 億美元。在他看來,京東不惜血本打造的倉儲和物流網絡正在顯出成效。
其實如果從營收來看,京東去年已經達到 375 億美元,是僅次於亞馬遜和穀歌母公司 Alphabet 的世界第三大互聯網公司。
” 五年前,有很多人嘲笑我們在物流上的投資,他們覺得京東太蠢了。” ��強東在接受採訪時說道。
最近一段時期,京東上上下下都在迎戰雙十一。雖然這個生造的購物節是阿里巴巴一手打造的,但京東也沒忘記湊熱鬧。這也意味著,中國電商市場的老大其實還是阿里巴巴。
京東 ” 單挑 ” 阿里巴巴的戰略可沒少遭人潑冷水,很多人認為它們未來可能會徹底被擊垮。不過,市場研究公司 Analysys 的數據顯示,今年第二季度京東在中國 B2C 電商市場的份額從 27% 上漲到了 33%,進一步縮小與天貓(數據不包含淘寶)的差距,而曾經的領跑者天貓,份額則從 57% 萎縮到了 51%。
現年 43 歲的劉強東 1998 年正式開啓了他的創業神話,當時京東的前身只是一個實體電子產品商店,但現在它們卻有了挑戰阿里巴巴的機會,就連電商巨頭亞馬遜在物流上都要向京東討教一二。
” 亞馬遜是一家值得尊敬的公司,但在某些領域,京東確實有自己的優勢。” 劉強東說道。
押註自動化
當然,京東並不是一個人在戰鬥,它背後還有騰訊和沃爾瑪。
現在的京東正試圖再次升級自己的物流網絡,這次它們要依靠機器人、自動駕駛汽車和人工智能。舉例來說,京東正在卡車到不了的邊遠地區試驗遞送無人機。今年 10 月份,京東還在上海建成了世界 ” 首個 ” 無人倉庫。
在公共場合,劉強東依然自信的用英語表示,京東會繼續大力投資技術和物流。” 對於短期利潤我毫不在意,我更願把每一分錢花在塑造京東的未來上。”
在中國站穩腳跟後,京東的足跡開始踏足國際市場,它們也不能免俗的走上了品牌塑造之路。本周早些時候,京東邀請各國記者參觀了它們在北京的研發中心,在那里工程師們正在專心搞倉庫自動化的開發。實驗室中,一台機器人正借助計算視覺分辨產品並完成分揀工作,另一台機器人則一個接一個的將包裝盒運走。兩年前,京東還在硅穀開了一家研發中心,這里主攻機器人、人工智能、AR/VR。
劉強東表示,未來十年中他希望京東能在電商行業成為技術引領者。
這樣的野心在京東總部隨處可見,公司員工已經可以直接用手機或面部識別技術在無人便利店購物��當然,阿里巴巴也沒落下,它們已經在中國運營了 20 家無人商店。
京東總部大樓之外的校園里,它們的試驗也在有條不紊的進行中。不過,眼下京東的配送機器人還有很大的提升空間。據悉,它們在配送過程中會因為車輛經過而迷惑,有時還會直接開進人行道旁邊的綠化帶。
對京東來說,物流自動化是它們建立起自己差異化的關鍵步驟。不過,這也是京東的必由之路。畢竟隨著中國工人薪資的增加,擴張業務時帶來的勞動力成本大幅上升會成為京東的大包袱。
” 物流自動化意味著即使我們的營收增長 5-10 倍,人力資源成本也不會增加。” 劉強東解釋道。
作為京東最早的伯樂,Capital Today 的 Kathy Xu 在 2006 年時就投資 1000 萬美元成了京東的股東。在她看來,用自動化和人工智能削減成本非常關進,因為京東很難找到其它提升利潤的方法了。
反觀阿里巴巴,它們也在有條不紊的加深自己在物流行業的參與度。今年 9 月份,阿里增資菜鳥,占股 51% 拿下菜鳥的直接控制權。未來五年內,它們還承諾要投資 150 億美元搭建自己的全球物流網絡。看好阿里巴巴的投資人認為,與第三方物流公司結成戰略聯盟非常適合巨量訂單的處理。
如果從電商交易量角度來看,阿里巴巴的平台可比京東要大得多。不過,由於淘寶的主力軍是第三方商家,因此京東的營收阿里巴巴無法望其項背,同時淘寶倚靠的是第三方物流公司。
重資產糢式
與其相比,京東選擇了重資產糢式。現在的京東不但擁有 335 個倉庫,還僱傭了 6.5 萬名全職快遞員,這些快遞員的工資占到了京東人力資源成本的一半。值得註意的是,除了自營產品,京東也將自家平台開放給了第三方商家。
對於京東和阿里的競爭,Kathy Xu 並不擔心,她認為中國電商市場足夠大(僅占到全社會零售總額的 15%),兩家公司都有足夠的上升空間。
與京東直接賣貨掙錢不同,阿里巴巴的營收主要來自平台商家的廣告和服務費,這種糢式可是相當掙錢。數據顯示,阿里巴巴第三季度運營利潤率高達 30%,其營收更是暴增 61%。在閃光業績支撐下,阿里巴巴股價今年已經翻番。
京東也當仁不讓,今年股價上漲超過 60%,不過在市值上還是與阿里巴巴相差巨大。眼下,阿里市值高達 4700 億美元,幾乎是京東(570 億美元)的 8 倍。
運營虧損
在劉強東看來,控制了自己的物流網絡也就控制了用戶體驗,因為這樣發貨更快,服務質量也能得到保證。借助它們在各地的倉庫,現在京東平台上的自營產品有 90% 都能實現當日或次日達。
不過,這樣的糢式可帶不來利潤。今年第二季度,京東雖然營收暴增 44%,但運營虧損依然在擴大。
針對這一問題,馬雲曾經發表過質疑,他懷疑在基礎設施上瘋狂投資的京東能否在慘烈的價格戰中生存下來。2015 年時,馬雲還曾稱京東是 ” 悲劇 “,不過後來他為自己的言論道了歉。
其實京東與淘寶幾乎是同時起步,但當時劉強東手上的資源可與阿里巴巴差得遠了,畢竟後者的 B2B 電商網站已經相當成功。據 Kathy Xu 回憶,當年京東有位大投資人臨陣退縮,劉強東只拿到原本資金的一半。
當京東站穩腳跟開始起飛時,阿里巴巴已經成長為超級巨人,淘寶幾乎統治了中國的網購市場。劉強東回憶稱,2009 年時一家市場研究公司著手編輯了一份中國十大電商排行榜,他花很大精力游說了研究者才勉強 ” 擠進 ” 前 15 名。
過去幾年來京東能夠異軍突起,其實很大原因就是有了騰訊的支持。2014 年騰訊買下京東 15% 的股份,隨後又增持到接近 20%。在騰訊的幫助下,微信巨大的用戶流量成功被引到了京東。
去年,京東則攜手百貨巨頭沃爾瑪,買下了這家美國公司在中國的電商業務。作為交換,沃爾瑪拿走了京東 5% 的股份,隨後它們又增持至 10%,成為京東的主要戰略夥伴之一。
” 作為一名企業家,你必須無所畏懼。如果你膽小,幹脆就別創業。”劉強東說道。在他辦公室的牆上,還掛著一副巨幅書法,上面寫著一句古話 ” 慢而穩,事必成 “。
未來,劉強東希望京東能擁有數百萬台配送機器人和無人機,數十萬台自動駕駛卡車和上千個倉儲與配送站。他還表示:” 到時我們需要管理超多的貨物、員工和機器,這絕對是個大挑戰。”
