Dr Shashank & Dr Juhi - An introspection of Juhi's initial feelings and impressions of the man
He was so handsome. So extraordinarily like the heroes in novels she didn't get much time to read with her medical degree but had still managed to indulge in once in a while... Especially now with Simran lending hers too. He was such a stereotypical goodlooking hero type. Tall and dark and handsome and brilliant... And often short and strict with them at the start, but quickly turning into the splendid mentor they all wanted to impress. Kind and good and brave and caring. A 100/10, borrowing Simran's language.
It was so hard not to lose her head over him. What was there not to? He didn't affect Simran as much, she was more used to him as he was her father's colleague. But Juhi saw him for what he was. Magnificent. A crush on him was the most natural thing in the world... And if it wasn't for Rahul and his shenanigans that kept her busy and showed her what an actual accessible and age appropriate romantic relationship is, she would have definitely lost her head, confusing awe and admiration for real ardour. It was anyway only a case of calf love, nothing to have come off of it of course... With the insurmountable differences of age, maturity and capability, let alone his relationship with Dr Smriti.
So instead... The crush transformed with time. Every moment she continued to find new reasons to like, admire and respect him. At a distance, she could have remained harmlessly infatuated, but with knowledge and familiarity, it became ... worship. He was her teacher, her God.
15 years later, it both amuses and mildly unnerves Juhi that her first initial and uninformed assessment of him still remains accurate. Darn it, the man was still so handsome. Even on a freaking hospital bed! With gray hair! (AND brilliant, AND kind. AND brave. Ugh! 100/10 forever.) How did his interns not walk about with his photo in their purses... Or did kids these days not do that any more? Maybe it helped that his daughter was their peer. That must be it.
Thankfully, Juhi thinks to herself, she's no longer the impressionable young girl who first landed at Sanjivani. So, - beyond her professional assessment of the (zero) changes the years have wrought - Dr Shashank could leave no impact on her.

Ram Jaane plot
A nameless boy, who was abandoned at a very young age, faces taunts from the other children in his village. He asks the priest what his name is, to which the priest answers Ram Jaane (God knows), which the boy accepts as his name. Ram Jaane and his friend Murli are caught stealing from a train by a corrupt police officer, Inspector Chewte (Puneet Issar). Chewte beats Ram Jaane in jail, but he is released without charge. Years later, Ram Jaane (Shah Rukh Khan) is working under Sameer Sanvla (Tinnu Anand) – Sanvla is murdered by Chewte and when Ram Jaane attempts to kill Chewie, he is again put in prison. When released from prison, Ram Jaane is taken by Murli (Vivek Mushran) to “Apna Ghar”, a home set up for the homeless – Murli believes that this is the best way to reform him, it is here where Ram Jaane is reunited with his childhood friend Bela (Juhi Chawla), whom he is in love with.
However, even in Apna Ghar, Ram Jaane still remains a criminal and even manages to influence the children in the house to follow in his footsteps. Apna Ghar is soon targeted by Baweja (G.P. Singh), who encourages his gang to attack Apna Ghar and all its residents, which Ram Jaane is able to stop. Ram Jaane is then seen shooting Baweja in the head. Chewte learns of Baweja’s death and is determined to have his murderer put in prison – he approaches Apna Ghar and starts beating one of the children, which leads to Murli and the others attacking Chewte and his fellow officers. In the riot, one child gets killed. Murli blames Ram Jaane for this tragedy and Ram Jaane runs away, he attempts to make Bela run away with him (as he believes she loves him), but she refuses. Bela is, in fact, in love with Murli – Murli realized this all along and reciprocated her feelings, but did not show it as he realized that Ram Jaane also loved her. Murli begs Bela to attempt to reform Ram Jaane. However, whilst trying to reform him, Bela begins to dislike him for his criminal ways. Bhau (Gulshan Grover), Ram Jaane’s rival and Technicolour (Pankaj Kapur), Ram Jaane’s former partner in crime hatch a plot to kill Ram Jaane – when he hears of their plan, he kills them both and then rushes to Apna Ghar to stop their henchmen from killing anyone. Eventually, Chewte arrives but is shot by Ram Jaane.
Ram Jaane is taken to court where he confesses to all of his sins – the court decides that he must be sentenced to death. The boys of Apna Ghar are in awe of Ram Jaane, as he plans to “die with a smile.” The boys think this is courageous and plan to follow in his criminal footsteps. Murli pleads with Ram Jaane not to die bravely, so the boys won’t want to follow his path, but Ram Jaane refuses. On the day of his death, with Murli and the boys watching, Ram Jaane feigns fear, crying and pleading for his life. One by one, the boys remove their red headbands, the symbol of being members of Ram Jaane’s gang. After his death, Bela and Murli read a letter from Ram Jaane to Bela, which states that he feels guilty for everything he had done and that he had planned intentionally for Bela to leave him and to go back to Murli.

The Trial's pivotal Track was inspired by a Sushant Singh Rajput, Rhea Chakraborty, and Arnab Goswami episode.
Three years ago, the COVID-19 pandemic was causing havoc in India, but the Sushant Singh Rajput death case was also receiving attention from the media and some online users. Rhea Chakraborty's portrayal as the villain eventually turned the situation into a media spectacle. A number of outrageous accusations—the majority of which lacked any supporting evidence—were made against her in connection with the actor's death. This iconic episode is covered in a key track in the most recent web series, The Trial, which debuted today on Disney+ Hotstar.
In the leading role, Kajol plays a mother trying to support her family after her husband is implicated in a bribery and sex scandal in The Trial. To make ends meet, she must work at a law firm. Every episode depicts Noyonika Sengupta (Kajol) battling a different case. The death of cricketer Mohit Singh, which occurred in mysterious circumstances, is one such case that is quite memorable. Juhi Bhatia, his girlfriend, has been detained on suspicion of aiding suicide. Despite the fact that the deceased is depicted as a sportsman, it is obvious that the Sushant Singh Rajput case served as inspiration for the film's creators.
The 2020 case is also notable because popular news anchor Arnab Goswami tried his best to persuade his viewers that Sushant Singh Rajput was killed by Rhea Chakraborty by presenting them with various theories. Daksh Rathod (Atul Kumar), a character based on him, also treats Juhi in the same way. Daksh Rathod is depicted as working for SNP News while Arnab happens to be the owner of Republic Network.
Crucial track in Kajol’s The Trial inspired by Sushant Singh Rajput – Rhea Chakraborty – Arnab Goswami episode : Bollywood News

Dr Shashank x Dr Juhi - Part 2
Maybe now Juhi begins to wonder how he loves her. What if it's all platonic on his side? But these butterflies in his presence and the sheer awareness of his physicality. Is it only in her head? Who can she talk to, confide in? Anjali has begun to thaw to her but yeah no way she's going to be able to talk through her physical attraction to Anjali's DAD. Fat chance.
Meanwhile, if they are out at dinner or a movie or just stopping by stores in a mall to pick things up, they're just routinely assumed to be a married couple. They spend most of their free days also together now.
Sure, they're workaholics, but they each - privately and then together - realize that some of the nature of their passion at work was driven by each other. The opportunity to be each other's work spouse all those years ago, to bring forward the best outcome every time... There was a precious high there. And it could only be gotten at work then! At first they were both single but hadn't found the balance with each other properly. Then he was married, then she was. Then he was widowed...but she had Rahul. And it wasn't right to revolve around the other if unrelated to work and hospital (they never even consciously considered it!). Later, after Juhi left Sanjivani, they both used work as a solace for loneliness. But now, they had each other. Truly had each other in a way they didn't before -- workaholics they needn't be anymore, couldn't be anymore. Not when there was happiness to also be had in a coffee outside, in trying to bake together, attend a furniture sale, go to a park, pick up presents for a baby shower (even though Anjali had insisted that it's just cheaper to buy online).
Anjali has finally thawed enough to have Juhi over at their home during weekends. The three of them can hang out; she and Juhi pick out movies on Netflix and Prime (and Hotstar, ahem) to watch. Anjali always has the last say in what they order in. None of them are great shakes at cooking but Shashank can do ok provided he is given enough time. Cooking is just like surgery he says, and one of his girls rolls her eyes, the other lights up and laughs. Sometimes they serve as his sous chefs and spend the night in, food, wine and a movie.
Anjali cannot help but be curious as to why Shashank and Juhi aren't physically demonstrative. At first she thinks it's because they're respecting her feelings and she's relieved, whew. But ... she's smart, observant. She can pick up the tension too. How Juhi lingers around Dad, as if inhaling in his essence without his knowledge. How Dad manages to walk around Juhi in the kitchen without really touching her. And she thinks, gosh, idiots (I agree).
So she gives them more space. She encourages Juhi to be over at their place more when she's not around. She innocently suggests to Dad and Juhi separately why some evenings aren't spent at Juhi's. And in a combination of wisdom and frustration, Juhi realized she's gotta make the first move with Shashank.
It's ... "Shashank" now. The first time it happened was when she had met some of his friends at the hospital. They joined forces to tease him about something and in the moment, she dropped her guard and called him, "Shashank". Of course he picked it up, glanced at her to indicate he had and she blushes at the slip of tongue. Later he said, "Acha lagta hai," when they were cleaning dishes together at her place at night.
"Kya sir?"
"You know, jab tum mujhe naam se pukar te ho" Hadn't he dispensed with Dr Singh, Dr Juhi, eons ago in their relationship?
"Acha? Aur kya acha lagta hai aapko..."
He didn't rise to that bait, wouldn't any other lover have rhapsodized?
Instead, "so what do I have to do to hear it again?"
She laughs and splashes water onto him. He grabs her arm. The smiles are slipping off their faces, their gazes are fixed and it's a... moment. "Sha... Shashank," she whispers.
Yeah, well no, she thinks later to herself, satisfied. It's not all platonic.

Will Do Patti be the game-changer for actresses who turn producers?
While we wish Kriti Sanon the best of luck with her debut film, Do Patti, which will be available on Netflix on October 25, we can only hope that it will be the first of many game changers: a huge success among actress productions!
We say this because, thus far, there has been an alarmingly high rate of flops when women become film producers. Even the few actresses who have turned filmmakers have had a dismal track record at the box office (Simi Garewal's Rukhsat, Hema Malini's Dil Aashna Hai and Tell Me O Kkhuda, as well as the telefilm Mohini and five films directed by Pooja Bhatt from Paap to Jism 2).
There are some exceptions. The exceptions in this list are insignificant, as we will see. Reena Roy's home productions, Muqabla (1979) and Sanam Teri Kasam (1982), were both hero-driven films, whereas Juhi Chawla's co-production, Chalte Chalte, was co-produced with an actor—Shah Rukh Khan—and directed by Aziz Mirza. Yes, Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika performed similarly. Priyanka Chopra Jonas' regional films, beginning with her smash-hit Marathi début, Ventilator, were profitable, while her Hindi film, The Sky is Pink, was not.
And the Rule! The list of flops is indeed voluminous, extending from Shashikala's Karodpati way back in 1961 (which, according to the late actress, "turned us into kangalpatis or broke!"), Nargis' Raat Aur Din and Sharmila Tagore's Tyaag to the aforementioned films as well as Neetu Singh's Chorni, Raakhee's Pugli, Taaqat (1982) and Zindagani, the Madhuri Dixit home productions, Dil Tera Aashiq (despite Salman Khan!), Yaraana (1996), Mohabbat (1997) and Padmini Kolhapure productions, Dav Pech and Rockford, and (according to rumor) the Zeenat Aman-backed Baat Ban Jaye are also examples.
As is customary, many of these films were "officially" produced by frontmen such as family members, relatives, or secretaries. "But the money obviously came from the star concerned!" says one industry source.
In the millenium, Lara Dutta's Chalo Dilli (albeit a wonderful film), Raveena Tandon Thadani's Stumped!, Manisha Koirala's Paisa Vasool, and Preity Zinta's Ishqk In Paris joined the list of flops. Shilpa Shetty's Dishkiyaoon, Anushka Sharma's highly anticipated NH10, Phillauri, and Pari (after which she chose the safe, OTT route with Bbulbul and Qala), Deepika Padukone's Chhapaak, and Taapsee Pannu's Blurr and Dhak Dhak (all excellent films). As evidenced by some of the examples above, it was not necessarily necessary for the actresses to appear in all of their productions. But that didn't change the situation!
Alia Bhatt made a spectacular debut with Darlings last year, which, like Do Patti, was streamed on Netflix, raising expectations for her next (this time theatrical) co-production, Jigra. However, that film, along with Kareena Kapoor Khan's The Buckingham Murders, collapsed like a house of cards.
The Trade View According to veteran distributor-exhibitor Raj Bansal, "Actresses are not as familiar with the commercial aspects as they should be." Filmmaking is about bringing something positive to the table, and they have their own perspectives on this."
He stated that there will always be stories that no one else wants to produce, but actresses believe they can create the best film for them! "It is always content that will hold, and if that does not, no film is going to work, however big the star," stated the director.
However, Bansal emphasizes the importance of budgeting. "A film like The Buckingham Murders has recovered its investment before the release through non-theatrical avenues and so it does not really matter if collections are not good!" He makes the case. "However, the terrain should be evaluated, and the target audience should not be limited to metropolitan areas. Also, if we look closely, directors such as Hansal Mehta (The Buckingham Murders) and Vasan Bala (Alia Bhatt's Jigra) do not cater to the masses."
