Jos Buttler helps Rajasthan to remain unbeaten
On Saturday, the Rajasthan Royals defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru by six wickets thanks to an unbeaten century from Jos Butler, who eclipsed Virat Kohli's opening IPL century (6).
In his 100th IPL encounter, Butler got his century off 58 balls with a six when Rajasthan needed one to win their pursuit of 184, with five balls remaining in the Jaipur match.
After scoring 35 runs in his previous three games, Butler found his form. He and captain Sanju Samson put up 148 runs for the second wicket, with Samson making 69.
Butler spoke of his winning smash over the deep mid-wicket fence, "Had a little bit of luck, did not time it well, just got over the rope, delighted with the win."
No matter how long you've spent playing the game, those tensions and worries persist. The mind is a powerful tool; all you need to do is persevere, work hard, and sometimes good fortune will find you.
Earlier, Kohli scored an undefeated 113 to lead Bengaluru to 183-3 after reaching his ninth IPL century in 67 balls, the highest by any batter.
However, his efforts were in vain as the first-time winners, Rajasthan, secured the top spot in the 10-team table with four wins, keeping them undefeated throughout the season, ahead of second-placed Kolkata Knight Riders, who have won three games in a row.
After getting off to a poor start, Butlerâwho, along with Chris Gayle, now has six tons in the IPLâblasted Mayank Dagar for three fours and a six in a 20-run sixth over, setting up the chase.
After Buttler came in to replace Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was out on the second ball of the innings, Samson also assumed responsibility for the opposition's assault.
At their home stadium, Samson and Butler captivated the audience with their beautiful strokeplay, hitting 16 fours and five sixes between them.
After Samson left, Rajasthan faltered a little and lost two more wickets, but Butler and Shimron Hetmyer, who scored 11 off six, held strong.
After reaching the three-figure mark with a single off Nandre Burger, Kohli, 35, hit his first century of the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League. He then removed his helmet and lifted his bat in front of the applauding audience.
"I want to keep the bowler guessing; I don't want to be too aggressive." They want me to leave quickly and hard," Kohli remarked.
It just takes maturity and experience. I prepare the game and play the conditions.
As he and captain Faf du Plessis put on an opening stand of 125 runs, with the latter hitting 44, to create the groundwork for the total, Kohli struck his third fifty-plus score of the season.
With a six off 39 balls, Kohli scored his half-century by smashing Riyan Parag below the belt.
Yuzvendra Chahal gave a catch to long-on and Du Plessis fell. To check the surge, Burger shortly bowled Glenn Maxwell for one.
Throughout his 72-ball innings, which included three fours in the last over, Kohli remained resolute and responded with four sixes.
With 316 runs in five games, the former captain of India solidified his place atop the batting table this year.
With Bengaluru, Kohli is still searching for his first IPL victory.

IPL 2022: Winners of Orange Cap and Purple Cap
Jos Buttler and Yuzvendra Chahal win the Orange Cap and Purple Cap of IPL 2022, respectively.
Debutants Gujarat Titans have won the IPL 2022 final against Rajasthan Royals to win their first title. They beat RR by 7 wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
It was a one-sided contest for the Titans who were asked to bowl first. The RR batting weren't able to score the big runs against the GT bowlers led by skipper Hardik Pandya, and could only manage 130 runs.
Titans who were chasing a target of 131 at their home ground, were well-prepared to face the RR bowlers. Opener Shubhman Gill remained unbeaten on 45 and hit the winning runs for his team.
IPL 2022: Orange Cap Winner
Jos Buttler has been in exceptional form all through the season, smashing 4 centuries for the Rajasthan Royals at the top of the order, and playing a big part in taking the team to the final. His scintillating form has helped him win the Orange Cap for IPL 2022. Buttler scored a total of 863 runs in 17 matches, which included four centuries and four half-centuries.
KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock, Hardik Pandya and Shubman Gill round up the top 5 of the highest-scorer list.
IPL 2022: Purple Cap Winner
Rajasthan Royal's key bowler Yuzvendra Chahal is the winner of the IPL 2022 Purple Cap. Chahal took a total of 27 wickets in 17 matches to top the leaderboard of the highest wicket-taker list. He is also tops the list of - most wickets taken by spinners in an IPL season. Though Chahal was on top of the list most of the times, later in the tournament he was in a close contest with RCB's Wanindu Hasaranga for the Purple Cap.
After taking one wicket in the IPL 2022 final, Chahal made the Purple Cap his.
Wanindu Hasaranga, Kagiso Rabada, Umran Malik and Kuldeep Yadav wrap up the top 5 of the highest wicket-taker list.

The Dravid effect in Nagarkotiâs road to recovery | Cricket News
JAIPUR: On the face of it, nothing has changed in the last two years for Kamlesh Nagarkoti. The pacer is as driven, as accurate and as lethal while playing in the IPL as he was two years back when he left everyone awestruck with his skill during the Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand. As he once again impressed with his bowling and athleticism playing for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) against Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday night, the world was yet again reminded of the talent that became almost anonymous after the World Cup outing.
Having completely recovered from the long-standing back injury, the right-arm bowler took two wickets and a couple of stunning catches joining other youngsters in the team to help cruise KKR to 37-run victory. It was his second game of the season and the tournament.
What everyone sees today is a result of the support system of which former India captain Rahul Dravid was an important part, and came to Nagarkotiâs rescue while he was struggling to come to terms with life while treading the long road to recovery.

Indiaâs 2018 Under-19 World Cup-winning pace duo of Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti led a clinical bowling display to help Kolkata Knight Riders register a comprehensive 37-run win over Rajasthan Royals in their IPL match on Wednesday. (BCCI/IPL/ANI Photo)
Mavi and Nagarkoti, who battled injuries in the last two seasons, claimed two wickets apiece, while Varun Chakravarthy also got two to restrict the Royals to 137/9 in 20 overs while chasing a target of 175. (BCCI/IPL/ANI Photo)
This was after star Australian pacer Pat Cummins (1/19 from 3 overs) dismissed Steve Smith (3) as the Royals crumbled on a tricky run chase to suffer their first defeat after two successive wins. The margin of defeat would have been much bigger but for Tom Curran who remained unbeaten on 54 (from 36 balls) for a lost cause. (BCCI/IPL/ANI Photo)
Jos Buttler and Smith started the proceedings looking to hit every ball in a 12-run first over off Sunil Narine. In-form Smith survived a dropped catch off Cummins but perished caught-behind taking an inside edge. (BCCI/IPL/PTI Photo)
Mavi (2/20 from 4 overs) then ended the dream run of Sanju Samson (8), executing a perfect bouncer, and followed it up by getting the dangerous-looking Jos Buttler (21 off 16) dismissed after power-play to have the Royals top-three out for 39. (BCCI/IPL/ANI Photo)
Nagarkoti (2/13 from 2 overs) then joined the party, picking the wickets of Robin Uthappa (2) and Riyan Parag (1) in the space of four balls in his first over. (BCCI/IPL/ANI Photo)
It was all over for the Royals after mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy (2/25 from 4 overs) grabbed the wickets of their last match hero Rahul Tewatia (14) and Jofra Archer (6). (BCCI/IPL/PTI Photo)
Earlier, Archer (2/18) hit the deck hard and clocked the fastest delivery of the tournament (152.1 kph) in a fiery spell, taking two key wickets of KKR â in-form opener Shubman Gill (47 from 34 balls) and skipper Dinesh Karthik (1). (BCCI/IPL/PTI Photo)
Archer dismissed Gill three runs short of a second successive fifty. In his next over, Archer dismissed Karthik with a beauty, full of pace that went straight with a bit of inswing and the KKR skipper was forced to play, edging straight to Jos Buttler. (BCCI/IPL/ANI Photo)
Andre Russell was finally promoted up at No. 5 but the star Jamaican became victim of Ankit Rajpoot while trying to accelerate the scoring rate. Russellâs wicket meant KKR lost four wickets for 33 runs in the back-10 and with KKR playing with an extra bowler, it was left to Eoin Morgan (34 not out) to prop up the total. (BCCI/IPL/ANI Photo)
âIt was Rahul Dravid who asked the BCCI to send Kamlesh to the UK for treatment. Moreover, every time they met while he was recuperating, Dravid used to motivate him, explaining how injuries are a part of a sportspersonsâ life and one must learn from that experience and come out stronger,â said the 20-year-old fast bowlerâs coach Surendra Rathore. Dravid who is currently the head of cricket at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) was the coach of the Under-19 team that won the World Cup.
01:57IPL 2020: Mavi, Nagarkoti shine as KKR beat RR by 37 runs
Not only Indiaâs batting legend, but the IPL franchise KKR too showed faith in the young knight from Jaipur by retaining him in the team despite his unavailability due to the injury. The Kolkata-based team had shelled out 3.2 crore on Nagarkoti in 2018, but made his IPL debut this season against Sunrisers Hyderabad on September 26. After completing his rehab and during the lockdown period, Nagarkoti worked extensively on his food position and batting. âThere were no major changes I suggested to him in his bowling. His action was getting a bit misaligned so we got that corrected. His landing foot was slightly across and his non-bowling arm was coming from inside. We worked on those. On alternate days he used to work on his batting as well where I used to set a target for him and gave throwdowns,â Nagarkotiâs coach said.

IPL: Rahul stars as Punjab outplay Rajasthan
IANS
(00:02)
Indore, May 6 (IANS) Opener Lokesh Rahul's unbeaten 84 helped Kings XI Punjab beat Rajasthan Royals by six wickets in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match here on Sunday. The win takes Punjab to third spot with 12 points in nine matches while Rajasthan, who faced their third consecutive defeat, are tottering at the bottom of the table with six points in nine matches. With this loss, Rajasthan's chances of qualifying for the play-offs are over. Chasing 152/9, Rahul's 54 ball knock, comprising seven boundaries and three sixes, helped Punjab chased down the target in 18.4 overs. Right from the start, opener Rahul cleared his intentions, slamming bowlers all around the park. Chris Gayle (8) and Mayank Agarwal (2), however, could support Rahul at the other end but Karun Nair (31) contributed handsomely. Rahul and Nair forged 50-run partnership for the third wicket before Nair was dismissed by Anureet Singh in the 11th over. New batsman Axar Patel (4) also went back cheaply but Marcus Stoinis (23 not out) supported Rahul and rotated the strike. Soon, the duo managed to overhaul the target with more than one over remaining. For Rajasthan, K. Gowtham, Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes, Anureet Singh scalped one wicket each. Earlier, teenaged Afghanistan off-spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman continued his impressive performance as his three wickets helped Kings XI Punjab restrict Rajasthan Royals to 152/9. After a 49-run third-wicket stand between Jos Buttler (51) and Sanju Samson (28), Mujeeb picked his English compatriot Ben Stokes (12) and Jofra Archer (0) in his second two-over spell to derail the Rajasthan innings. Mujeeb, 17, has now taken 12 wickets and is currently fifth in the list of most wicket-takers. The teenager not only took wickets but also proved to be economical right from his first two-over spell which put pressure on the Rajasthan top-order. After being asked to bat, Rajasthan rode on Buttler to get their runs, even if fellow opener D'Arcy Short (2) and Ajinkya Rahane (5) were dismissed with 35 on board for the western outfit in four overs. While captain and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin accounted for Short -- who was caught by Andrew Tye at midwicket -- Rahane's cut off a delivery from left-arm spinner Axar Patel saw Chris Gayle dive forward to pull off a stunning catch. Then Buttler and Samson put together an important partnership to lay a foundation for the flourish in the final 10 overs. But when all seemed to be going good, Samson pulled medium pacer Tye straight into the hands of Karun Nair in the fifth ball of the 11th over. Following the wicket, Rajasthan lost track as Mujeeb removed Stokes (12) and Buttler in the 13th and 15th overs respectively. Mujeeb struck for the second time in the 15th over to get rid of Jofra Archer (0) to reduce the visitors to 106/6. Stokes was dismissed by a relay catch between Mayank Aggarwal and Manoj Tiwary at the long off, while Rahul grabbed an outside edge of Buttler. Archer was foxed by a googly before the delivery rattled the stumps as Rajasthan innings was derailed. In the following over, paceman Ankit Rajpoot dismissed K. Gowtham (5), while Tye got rid of Rahul Tripathi (11) in the first delivery of the 18th over, with Rajasthan at 129/8. Later, Shreyas Gopal scored a brisk 24 off 16 deliveries to take Rajasthan cross the 150-run mark. Brief scores: Rajasthan Royals: 152/9 (Jos Buttler 51, Sanju Samson 28, Shreyas Gopal 24; Mujeeb Ur Rahman 3/27, Andrew Tye 2/24) vs Kings XI Punjab: 155/4 (Lokesh Rahul 84 not out; K. Gowtham 1/18)

'Hoping 2020 does a Rahul Tewatia': Rajasthan Royals changes Twitter bio | Cricket News
DUBAI: Acknowledging the heroics of Rahul Tewatia against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Rajasthan Royals changed its Twitter bio to pay tribute to the 27-year-old all-rounder. Tewatia, who was struggling to find his feet against Kings XI Punjab, went on to smash five sixes in an over as Rajasthan chased 224 against Punjab to gain a victory by four wickets on Sunday at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Rajasthan Royalsâ new Twitter bio now reads â âHoping 2020 does a Rahul Tewatiaâ.
The coronavirus pandemic has seen people stuck indoors this year and the global impact economically has been terrible, to say the least.
Rajasthan Royals chased down a total of 224 to beat KXIP by four wickets on Sunday. For the Royals, Sanju Samson, Steve Smith, and Rahul Tewatia all made 50+ scores to give their team victory by four wickets.

Nicholas Pooran then hit 25 not out from just eight balls while Glenn Maxwell (in the picture) remained unbeaten on 13. (Photo: PTI/IPL/BCCI)
Tewatia came out to bat at number four and he was struggling at one stage. However, in the 18th over bowled by Sheldon Cottrell, Tewatia hit five sixes to turn the tide. The left-handed batsman scored 53 as Rajasthan gained an improbable victory. Sanju Samson had played a knock of 74 runs against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and he followed it up with an 85-run knock against Kings XI Punjab. Skipper Smith made 50 against Punjab as well. For KXIP, Mayank Agarwal scored a ton, and it was his first hundred in the IPL. Agarwal made 106 runs from 50 balls with the help of 10 fours and 7 sixes to take the sideâs total to 223/2. Agarwal and KL Rahul put together 183 runs for the first wicket and created the record for the highest opening partnership for KXIP in the IPL. This stand between both batsmen is also the second-highest opening partnership in the history of the tournament. Rajasthan has now won their opening two matches in the ongoing edition of the IPL. They will next lock horns with Kolkata Knight Riders on September 30 while Kings XI Punjab will face Mumbai Indians on October 1.

Rajasthan Royals vs Kings XI Punjab: Sensational Tewatia hits five sixes in an over to take RR to incredible win over KXIP | Cricket News
SHARJAH: Rahul Tewatia struck five sixes in an over at the fag end of the match as Rajasthan Royals recorded the highest run chase in IPL history, beating Kings XI Punjab by four wickets in a high-scoring encounter on Sunday. Chasing a stiff 224 for a win, the Royals needed 51 runs from the last three overs and it seemed the fate of the match was already sealed but Tewatia turned the match on its head in a dramatic fashion, taking 30 runs from Sheldon Cottrell in the 18th over. Scorecard | Points Table In an unbelievable turn of events, Tewatia (53 off 31 balls and 7 sixes), who was struggling to connect the ball after being pushed up the order ahead of the likes of Robin Uthappa, suddenly shifted gears as he hoisted Cottrell for a series of sixes much to the amazement of his team-mates and opposition players. He was finally out in the last ball of the 19th over and after that Jofra Archer (13 not out) and Tom Curran (4 not out) took the Royals home.

It was the highest successful run-chase in IPL history, bettering the earlier record which also belongs to Royals, who had hit 217 while chasing 215 against erstwhile Deccan Chargers in 2008. Sanju Samson continued his dream run with a superb 42-ball 85, while captain Steve Smith also contributed a 27-ball 50 as RR continued their winning run.

Star England batsman Jos Buttler (4), who missed the Royalâs first match as he was in quarantine, lasted just seven runs with Cotrell dismissing him in the third over. But Samson was on a different level altogether as he kept on plundering the fours and sixes. He collected 21 runs off Glenn Maxwell in the 16th over before Mohammed Shami had him dismissed in the first ball of the next over. Earlier, opener Mayank Agarwal outshone his captain Rahul with a maiden IPL hundred as the duo pummelled the Royals bowlers into submission to post the highest total of this season so far. Agarwal and Rahulâs 183-run stand for the opening stand was the highest partnership for any wicket so far this season as they took apart the Royals bowlers who were also wayward in their line and length. The duo just missed the record of highest opening wicket partnership in IPL history by a mere two runs when Agarwal was out in the 17th over after hitting 10 fours and seven sixes during his magnificent 50-ball knock.

Nicholas Pooran then hit 25 not out from just eight balls while Glenn Maxwell also remained unbeaten on 13. Rahul was content to play second fiddle to Agarwal though the KXIP captain also made some brilliant shots during his 54-ball knock studded with seven fours and a six, continuing his rich vein of form after his 132 not out against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Agarwal surged ahead of his captain by reaching his fifty (from 26 balls) in style with a six off Shreyas Gopal and followed it up with another maximum to bring up KXIPâs 100 in the ninth over. KXIP reached 110 at the halfway mark. The Royals bowlers had no clue how to deal with the marauding opening duo. Only Ankit Rajpoot conceded less than 10 runs an over.
