Jor mela celebrations at Gurdwara Bir Baba Budha, Thatha Gurdwara Bir Baba Budda Sahib
Gurdwara Beed Baba Budda Sahib is situated on Chaabal - Amritsar road near village Jhabal Kalan in district Amritsar Punjab India. Baba Buddha ji spent much of his life here.
Also known as Gurudwara Bir Baba Buddha, this is situated in the revenue limits of the village of Thatta, 20 km south of Amritsar. The shrine honours and commemorates Baba Buddha (1506 - 1631), the venerable Sikh of the time of Guru Nanak who lived long enough to anoint five succeeding Gurus.
He spent many years looking after the "bir", literally a reserved forest used for cattle grazing, said to have been offered to Guru Arjan by Chaudhari Langah of Patti out of his private lands. According to Gurbilas Chhevin Patshahi, it was here on 21 Assu 1651 Bk/20 September 1594, that Mata Ganga the wife of Guru Arjan, received blessings for an illustrious son (the future Guru Har Gobind, Nanak VI) from Baba Buddha. This gurudwara is popularly known as simply Bir Sahib, is situated about 2 km northwest of Thatta. The sanctum, where the Guru Granth Sahib is seated on a canopied seat of white marble, is a metre high square platform at the far end of a rectangular hall constructed in 1951.
The 70 metre square Sarovar is to the north of this hall. A spacious divan hall was added in 1975. Guru ka Langar with a large dining hall and a two storeyed residential block for pilgrims are in a separate compound. The Gurdwara is managed by a local committee under the auspices of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. Besides the daily prayers and the celebration of important anniversaries on the Sikh calendar, largelyattended divans take place on the first of each Bikrami month. The biggest function of the year is a religious fair held on 21st of Assu, corresponding with 6 October. Today millions of people visit at Gurdwara Bir Baba Buddha to get His blessings. His birth is celebrated worldwide. Today, a jor mela is being celebrated at Gurdwara Bir Baba Budha, Thatha. Let us remember the great personality Baba Buddha's contributions.

Jor Mela: Baba Budha Ji
Baba Buddha is accepted as one of the greatest Sikh personalities during the period of Sikh Gurus. He has a unique privilege of being blessed by the first six Gurus. He led a life of an ideal Sikh for more than one hundred years
He was one of closest companions of the guru Nanak (the first Guru of Sikhs). He is considered as one of the most revered and sacred saints among Sikhs.
He was the first head Granthi (priest) of Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple Amritsar, Punjab)
Baba Buddha, the most venerated primal figure among Sikhs was born on 6 October 1506 at the village of Katthu Nangal, 18 km northeast of Amritsar in a Randhawa family. Bura, as he was originally named, was the only son of Bhai Suggha Randhawa and Mai Gauran.
He attained such an eminence in Sikh piety that at the time of installation of Bhai Lahina as Guru Angad (Nanak II), Guru Nanak asked Bhai Buddha to apply the ceremonial tilak on Bhai Lehna’s forehead. He continued to serve the Gurus with complete dedication and remained an example for the growing body of disciples. The Guru spent his time in meditation for one year and six months. Sikhs could not trace the Guru. They approached Baba Budha, who led them to Khadur. He prevailed upon the Guru to give up seclusion and resume his duties.
He subsequently retired to a bir (forest), where he tended the livestock of the Guru ka Langar. That place is now known as Bir Baba Buddha Sahib.
Besides the daily prayers and the celebration of important anniversaries on the Sikh calendar, largelyattended divans take place on the first of each Bikrami month. Jor Mela at Sri Goindwal Sahib
LOCATION
Situated at a distance of 24 km from Tarn Taran and 48 km from Amritsar, Govindwal is connected with the former place by road. One Gonda (Govinda) Marwaha originally lived there. The village was named Govindwal after him.
HISTORY
Guru Angad Dev is said to have started the building of Govindwal in 1546 or thereabout and to have entrusted its construction to Amar Das. In 1552, when the Guru realized that his end was drawing near, he installed Amar Das as his successor and asked him to shift to Govindwal from where he was to guide and direct the activities of the sect.
Govindwal was quite important commercially and otherwise during the Mughal period, as it was situated on the then highway from Atari to Govindwal. At Govindwal, there was a very well known ferry on the River Beas and a brisk trade was carried on. With the opening of railway lines from Amritsar to Kasur (now in Pakistan) and from Amritsar to Lahore, the town lost its importance as a trading-centre and, with the lapse of time, became a deserted place. Lofty buildings in a dilapidated and practically deserted condition are seen even today.
ABOUT IT
There is a Gurdwara built by Guru Amar Das. The institution of langar, originally started by him, owes its origin to this Gurdwara. The Guru would not allow any disciple to see him until he had taken food from the langar. There is a baoli (well with a flight of stairs), with 84 steps, within the Gurdwara. It is said that a person by reciting the Japji at each step attains salvation. A considerable portion of the Adi-Granth-the composition of Guru Amar Das-was composed at Govindwal.
FAIR CELEBRATIONS
A fair is held at Govindwal in Bhadra (Bhadon) when the place presents a jubilant look for about a week.
Its a Place of Eternal Peace Founded by Guru Amardas Ji
Nihang singh go to play in that fair
Its the most beautiful views of fair over there

Jor Mela at Sri Goindwal Sahib
ABOUT GOINDWAL SAHIB
Goindwal Sahib is on the banks of river Beas and is a significant place of Sikhism. Goindwal is situated at a distance of 30 km south-east of Amritsar city. Guru Amar Das Ji established this place and personally helped in the construction of the Gurdwara and Baoli (well) with 84 steps leading down to it. Guru Amar Das said that whoever recited the entire Japji prayer of Guru Nanak on each of the 84 steps with a pure heart before bathing in the Baoli would receive spiritual emancipation. Besides, there is 'Langar' the famous community kitchen of Guru Amar Das, where each visitor is offered food free of cost. It has been recorded by a Sikh historian that Emperor Akbar also took meal in the Langar, before meeting the Guru.
HISTORY AND LOCATION Goindwal (ਗੋਇੰਦਵਾਲ), also known as Goindwal Sahib, is located in Taran Taran district in the state of Punjab in India about 23 km from Tarn Taran Sahib. In the 16th century it became an important center for the Sikh religion during the Guruship of the Guru Amar Das. Goindwal is on the banks of the river Beas and is one of the focal points of small scale industries of Tarn Taran district.
Guru Amar Das (the third Guru or the third Nanak) stayed in Goindwal for 33 years where he established a new centre for preaching Sikhism. A Baoli, paved with 84 steps was constructed there. Some devout believe that by reciting Japji Sahib, the divine Word revealed to Guru Nanak Dev at each of the 84 steps after taking a bath in the Baoli provides Moksha, liberation from 84,00,000 cycles of life of this world and unity with God (mukhti). Goindval is where Guru Amar Das met Guru Ram Das, the next Guru. Guru Arjan Dev was also born there on 15 April 1563. It is called axis of Sikhism as it was the first center of Sikhism.
Today the Gurdwara and Goindwal Baoli is visited as a prime tourist destination and the massive langar or the community kitchen provides food to a large number of visitors every day.
HISTORY BEHIND GURUDWARA SHRI BAOLI SAHIB AND SHRI GOINDWAL SAHIB
Gurdwara Shri Baoli Sahib & Shri Goindval Sahib are situated in the Goindwal Sahib in Taran Taaran Distt. This is the first Sikh pilgrimage which was prepared under the supervision of Shri Guru Amar Das Ji in year 1616 AD. GURU SAHIB then blessed this holy place and decreed that whosoever does 84 paaths of JAPJI SAHIB with a pure heart and baths in the BAOLI SAHIB shall be freed from the cycle of birth and death. Shri Guru Amardas JI himself performed Seva of Gurdwara Baoli Sahib.
