I don’t think anyone has pointed it out before (or at least analysed it as much as I have) if they have I haven’t seen it but Jonny Sims giving all the main characters horror writer surnames is actually way funnier than people realise because of the fact that the main character has his name.

From an outsiders perspective who didn’t know that Jonny didn’t bother to come up with a different name for the main character it seems as though he is putting himself among the great horror writers and while I’m not denying he is a great horror writer because he is one, at the time he wrote Magnus series one he wasn’t known as a horror writer which makes him seem really arrogant which I find quite funny especially since as far as I can tell from the way he presents himself online, he isn’t at all arrogant and seems pretty chill

in my opinion, I think Thirteen Storeys by Jonathan Sims would be more of a leitner of the Vast, considering how the motto is quite literally "the only way out is up".
