"HIS TAKE ON "THE THING" ILLUSTRATES ALL THE GOOPY BODY HORROR OF THE ICONIC SPLIT-FACE FROM THE FILM..."
PIC INFO: Resolution at 1000×1501 -- Spotlight on John Carpenter's "The Thing (officially licensed fine art poster), edition of 150, initially made available at Thought Bubble Comic Convention in Harrogate, UK, c. November 2024. Artwork by Leeds, UK-based, Eisner Award-winning artist and illustrator, John W. Pearson.
MINI-OVERVIEW: "...fusing traditional drawing techniques, digital painting, and collage to produce highly detailed and darkly compelling images across a range of printed media. His take on "The Thing" illustrates all the goopy body horror of the iconic Split-Face from the film, which was created by legendary effects artist Rob Bottin."
-- FANGORIA, "First Look: Eisner Award-Winning Artist And Illustrator John J. Pearson Takes On "THE THING,"" by Jason Kauzlarich, published November 13, 2024
“I fell in love with "The Thing" when I first saw it as a teenager. The paranoid claustrophobia against the bleak antarctic expanse blew my mind, but it was Rob Bottin’s insane visual effects that really resonated with me. I wanted to pay tribute to that in some way with the poster, painting my take on the iconic split-face against the stretches of space.”
– JOHN J. PEARSON, on the personal impact of "The Thing" and its effect on the poster design

funniest thing about the thing (1982) is that the titular thing is both a master manipulator who can perfectly replicate anyone but also a big bundle of nerves who flips out and starts screaming and turning into 5000 meat parts at once the INSTANT it’s found out

if my dog turned out to be a horrifying ancient murderous shapeshifting alien creature I would simply love and treasure them for who they really are. sorry about the carnage I guess but I'm different

"THIS THING DOESN'T WANT TO SHOW ITSELF, IT WANTS TO HIDE INSIDE AN IMITATION. IT'LL FIGHT IF IT HAS TO..."
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on promo shots for the two action figures from the now acclaimed 1982 sci-fi/horror movie "The Thing," both unleashed by McFarlane Toys in the fall of 2000, starting with "The Thing: Norris Creature & Spider."
BRAND: Movie Maniacs
GENRE: Movies & TV
PRODUCT TYPE: Action Figure
SERIES: Movie Maniacs Series 3
OVERVIEW: "Based on John Carpenter’s 1982 remake of the 1951 sci-fi/horror classic, "The Thing." Since the alien creature had no real form (it took the shape of whatever creature it consumed), McFarlane Toys created two separate figures, packaged individually. The second is the Norris monster that bursts from a dead character’s chest and is summarily burned to a crisp in the movie. This figure is packaged with a multi-legged, disembodied head creature from the movie."
PIC #2: Spotlight on "The Thing: Blair Monster" 6 inch action figure by McFarlane Toys, part of Movie Maniacs Series 3, released in September 2000.
OVERVIEW: "Based on John Carpenter’s 1982 remake of the 1951 sci-fi/horror classic, "The Thing." Since the alien creature had no real form (it took the shape of whatever creature it consumed), McFarlane Toys created two separate figures, packaged individually. The first is the Blair monster, the main creature at the end of the film."

"Who could catch Kira" this, "Who could catch Heisenberg" that, here's a new one:
Which characters, if they took Macready's place at the research station, could catch and destroy John Carpenter's The Thing before it can escape or assimilate everyone
My personal picks are most versions of the Doctor from Doctor Who, any version of Batman that has experience with aliens, and Agents J & K from Men in Black
