Robyn does not mention her albums before her rejuvenation as the Robyn. Then again, these early albums of hers might not be as good as her later work, though they are worthwile. However, you notice she did compromise on them. Not a lot, mind you, but you keep getting that hunch she wanted to say more on them. While she did function quite well within the parameters of pop for the early noughts on her Don't Stop The Music, there are many hints on them this wasn't what she wanted, she seemed stuck. Nonetheless, her fitting the scene at the time so well got me to ask myself where she could've gone, had she continued with her compromise. I guess she would've been doing a Las Vegas Residence at this point or she could've played an Interpol agent on a CBS procedural.

Robyn wasn't always understood as, well, the Robyn. Yes, she had to have a difficult second album syndrome thanks to her being herself, but the reason for that had nothing to do with the quality. The disc sort of showed she could not fit towards what the scene wanted, i.e. remember this was the time of the early singles by Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. She tackled the topics neither of them could at that point, so she put her foot down and won, but the LPs didn't get released much outside Sweden. Then again, I do think the world at that point wasn't quite ready for her and I must also add she wasn't quite there as well despite some hints. However, My Truth – isn't a title a bit of a dare? – did provide her with an important step for her afterwards.
