Oproep Verkenning Nationale Museale Voorziening Slavernijverleden

Aanleiding hiervoor is het initiatiefvoorstel 'Een stap naar verdere verkenning van het Amsterdamse slavernijverleden' van de raadsleden Blom (GL), Duijndam (SP) en Mbarki (PvdA). Op 20 december 2017 heeft de Amsterdamse gemeenteraad unaniem ingestemd met dit initiatiefvoorstel. De nationale museale voorziening is bedoeld voor iedereen. Het trans-Atlantische slavernijverleden is een onderbelicht deel van de Nederlandse geschiedenis. Met de museale voorziening wil de gemeente Amsterdam het historisch bewustzijn en kennis bij het publiek vergroten, en de koppeling leggen met het heden. Uitgangspunt is een voorziening die een aanvulling vormt op en in verbinding staat met de bestaande museale en culturele voorzieningen die zich met het slavernijverleden bezighouden.

This was a weird experience last time I went... It started out as straight up sound art then veered into sci-fi fantasy. If that's your kind of thing then go!

Wet Sounds - underwater sound art gallery touring swimming pools. A project by Joel Cahen.

This came to dundee as apart of the Neon digital arts festival-IMMENSE. By a long way the best exhibition/experience I have had.

The day before I took part in a sound narratives workshop too where we created a crazy story about an evil old fish woman with her plankton chain gang and a hypnotic singing mermaid. Our sound was then played underwater at Wet sounds. So not only did i hear and experience amazingness i helped create it too. All round success. Highly recommend it.
