Joaquin’s excitement was infectious and you couldn't help grinning as he gushed over the metal filling your garage. When he had returned home from finishing his tour you hadn't expected so much time to be spent on the revival of the wing suit he found himself in possession of. But if it made him happy, then you were happy.
You placed his mug of tea in one of the few free spaces left and took a seat on his lap as he pushed away from the bench. His arms automatically wrapped around you and his chin rested on your shoulder as he continued to work around you, stealing kisses every once in a while. You watched his nimble fingers work with the tiny screws and wires of all colours, once again amazed by the man you had married.
“What are you going to do with it once it’s fixed?” You asked as you took his hand away and kissed the small cut on his finger.
He leant back in his chair, pulling you back with him, and he looked up at the roof while you looked up at him. “There’s a lotta people out there who need help, and Sam’s got his own battles, y’know.”
You stroked his hair gently as he stared beyond the garage ceiling, at the world of possibilities. He had a heart of gold and there was no way you would ever dream of caging him your freebird. “You’ll be a great Falcon, baby.”
“How about Crested Caracara?” He chuckled as he melted you with his dark amber eyes. “It’s a bit of a mouthful.”
“Just a bit.” You agreed with a giggle before you saw the doubt creep into his eyes. “You don’t have to worry about living up to the name, you are more than enough.”
You hated seeing the wind leave his sails so you sat up and turned to cup his face, showing him how sincere you were. “Did Sam change Captain America’s name when he took up the mantle? No, and you won’t either when you take on the Falcon. I’m sure Sam had a million reservations before he took that shield and you will with those wings but baby, I don’t know anyone who deserves to fly them more than you. Anyone who says otherwise will have to deal with me.”
His lips tipped up and he tried not to laugh but he couldn’t help it, you were the sweetest, kindest woman he knew and he couldn’t picture you ‘dealing’ with anyone.
“Laugh it up, mister, but when it comes to my family I can be tough.” You tried to sound grumpy but completely failed and he just pulled you to his chest as he wrapped you in his strong arms.
“I love you so much, I hope you know that.” He said when he finally stopped laughing.
“I do.” You smiled, his lips drawing you in for a long kiss while his hands reached for the garage door remote, closing it for some privacy. “I love you too.”
