Daisuke!!! Yippee!!!
Nothing bad ever happened to that boy TRUST
I have. A lot of thoughts about him.
I really dig the father-son dynamic between Swansea and Dai. That's a given. I also like to think him and Anya act like "siblings," which is cute and endearing. The relationship with Curly seems positive to me too, a healthy authority... But that's not what I want to talk about.
My thoughts always circle back to Jimmy.
In the wiki, it says that they're relationship is very negative, and even tho I do agree in some way, I don't believe it's entirely true.
The obvious: Jimmy looks down and manipulates him. It's blatantly obvious in the way he talks Dai into going into the vent. The way Jimmy gaslights him about drugging Swansea. He makes it clear that he thinks Daisuke is a rich, spoiled kid who had no business being in the ship. Useless.
But I think there's something... else.
Daisuke tries to be friendly and upbeat with everyone, and that's just how his personality is. But I have the feeling, from the way the game presents, he trusted Jimmy.
He didn't sleep next to Swansea, nor Anya. He felt comfortable and safe enough to sleep right next to Jimmy.
When Anya locked herself in, he didn't run to Swansea. He came running to Jimmy.
As horrible as that man is, you can't convince me he didn't feel some type of positive way for Dai. I think he felt the slightest hint of fondness the longer they survived. He didn't give a single shit about Anyas death because Curly was still alive. But he Freaked Out over Daisukes death.
We can't see his expression, but the way I read it he was Mortified. The burden of Dais death made him snap, pushing him further down the spiral. The first thing Jimmy did is grab the gun to kill Swansea for what he did. Some may say that Jimmy did it out of a selfish need for survival, but a part of me feels he was fueled with revenge.
I think there's Some significance that he sat Daisukes corpse closest to him. Swansea and Anya furthest.
"Daisuke would have hated him if he knew"
I see the point, but I dont agree. Daisuke would have been disgusted, horrified. He would have never condoned Jimmy's action. He would have clowned on him, defended Anya and Curly.
But Daisuke is a good kid who sees the good in everyone. He's not innocent nor pure, but he has naive faith. You can't tell me if Jimmy actually did work to change, and had something to show for it, Daisuke wouldn't have believed in him.
Maybe he would have hated him, but more likely, Daisuke would have had forgiveness in his heart.
And I think that makes everything so much more tragic. I think it would destroy Jimmy more than being hated. He can deal with hatred. It makes it easier to cope and accept.
Anyway I'm working on an afterlife au where I explore all those things yippee
Those are all my opinions and personal headcanons, yall can disagree but I won't accept criticism <3

Knight Terrors: The Joker #2 is out and I have never had so much to chew on in my life. I'm trying to moderate my enthusiasm so I stop exceeding the image limit making these posts, but there is so much going on!!
(spoilers ahead as usual, along with violence, gore, and death as usual)
At the end of last issue, we were left with the mystery of what exactly is up with supposedly dead Batman's reappearance, but this issue answers that pretty quickly:
This is at first presented as Joker's dream-within-a-dream, but later we get confirmation that Joker is sleepwalking as Batman. Sleep-vigilante-ing. Sleepigilanting. He's a Batman Who Jokes!
With Joker awake, we find that some time has passed, and now Joker is married to Lena, the wife of Johann to whom Joker showed some kindness back at the real-world hospital before she died. They also have a child, Albert, who was also a dying patient at the hospital.
The poster is for an actual movie I haven't seen, but it's about a scientist who is betrayed by a wealthy patron who takes credit for his work, and then becomes a beleaguered clown who has a heroic and tragic end. Oh, Joker likes a movie about a clown who was betrayed by a rich guy? You don't say!
At first I was amused by the onesie, but then the story returns to Joker at work and we see that he's no longer wearing a plain gray suit. He's in his usual Joker colors, perhaps indicating that he's found comfort in this humdrum life? This corporate dullness is his identity now? Oh dear.
Also he's interviewing Mr. Freeze.
Joker asks why Freeze wants to work at WE, and Freeze says he wants to lay low now that Batman is killing people. Like the last issue, Joker insists that Batman is dead, and he also acts like his memory of his old life is fading.
Fair point, Victor, but I don't think you're getting the job.
Is Poison Ivy Joker's secretary?? Well, no one would look for her there, I'm sure. So long as she resists the temptation to poison her boss.
Cut to night: Joker starts sleepwalking.
Oh my god, Joker has his own dour bat-monologue. Batman's truest fanboy.
This brings me back to Joker War, when Joker told Bruce that Gotham City didn't want to be saved. But here Joker is, protecting her dead body for/as Batman anyway.
Gremlin Batman, being up front about his MO.
These clowns are with Gaggy, who sadly cannot get Joker to remember him but does receive some TMI.
Poor Gaggy. ANYWAY, we cut to a corporate baseball game between Wayne Enterprises and freaking LexCorp. In dreamworld, Jimmy Olsen works for Lex, at least until he jokes about how with Joker's sports ability, he should be called Batman.
omg AND BRUCE IS THERE
Damn right Joker is your man, Bruce!
Talk. Dinner. At Bruce's place. IT'S A DATE. So much packed into an instant classic batjokes panel.
When Joker arrives at the manor, Insomnia is there, and… like… there is so much going on.
- Joker seems to recognize Insomnia as his boss, but then instantly accepts that he's now Winchester, Bruce's butler. (Not sure if Joker noticed Insomnia was also the umpire at the game.)
- Insomnia tries to say that Bruce was called away, in a classic Batman bit, and when Bruce shows his face, Insomnia seems perturbed. He doesn't want Joker to talk to Bruce.
- YEAH BRUCE IS WEARING THE KILLING JOKE OUTFIT. The tourist costume that Joker wore when he shot Barbara. Alright. Okay. Alright. Okay.
There is so much going on!!
You may have noticed that Bruce called Insomnia Windham, not Winchester, and he misnames him again here, as Winthrop. Joker regularly does this to people, particularly henchmen.
Also, Joker earlier told Bruce that he can't eat seafood, but that's all that's being served. lol
Here's an extended version of a gag from Batman 1989, and also Joker noting that his sense of humor has resulted in lawsuits (but not in him being fired, of course). There's an implication that Joker's been muting his personality at work, adding a layer to all the jokes he unleashes when he sleepfights as Batman.
The next bit just calls for the full page.
- Bruce saying the world needs a little craziness, that the city needs Batman, so that life makes sense, so that it isn't boring.
- Insomnia trying to stop the conversation twice, and shut down by Bruce twice (again with the wrong names).
- Bruce saying he wouldn't be the same man if Batman died and indicating he knows Joker feels the same way. Batman is integral to both of their identities. Just laying it out there that Joker is acting as Batman so the city doesn't lose something irreplaceable.
- Bruce saying, jk, Batman is fine and whatever is wrong with Johann, Bruce must have dreamt it up. He's telling Joker what's going on in reality, that Batman is fine and this is a dream!
- Insomnia blames Bruce's rambling on a seafood allergy, but he's applying a trait of Joker's to Bruce. He's just strengthening the connection.
And maybe the allergy is supposed to be real for Bruce too, and not a throwaway, and he's eating like a ravenous animal, because he doesn't care, because like Joker he dives into danger even when it's idiocy. And because Bruce basically is Joker. Joker sees them reflected in each other, but also Joker's subconscious is telling him all this to bring himself back to reality. The TKJ outfit on Bruce of all people is glaring signal meant to shake Joker out of it. It's just wrong. But it's also that Joker is hearing the truth from someone he really knows. Yes, it's not the Bat who laughed with him in the rain, at the futility of trusting each other, but the face behind the mask is the man who wanted to help him anyway. Maybe Joker does want to trust him deep down I KNOW I'M RAMBLING THIS IS A LOT
And it all gets into Joker's conscious thoughts too. He's, uh, distracted at work the next day.
Hey, Freeze got hired after all!
HR can't have you being silly, Joker. You start killing people at work again like a good Batman nemesis, and then you might take the dream in a different direction! Insomnia doesn't want that, and he tries telling Joker that Bruce is just messing with him.
And Joker intends to clear his head, but when he goes home he discovers his secret corpse is no longer well-kept.
Batman's corpse, face down and ass up. What an image!
Joker's old life will not be suppressed!
As Joker loses it, he's contradicting himself. All this time he's been saying Batman is dead, but now it's "he tried to make me think that Batman might have died." Either his thoughts are scrambled up, or "he" actually refers to Insomnia, or maybe both. But regardless, now Joker needs to prove that Batman is alive. If Batman is alive, then the boring little life Joker has made for himself makes total sense. Batman has always made Joker's life make sense.
Joker resurrects his old skills and creates a plan to catch the Batman, but the logic behind it is that Batman is uncatchable. So if Joker's plan fails, then the Batman running around is real, and everything is okay. Then of course Joker takes a "nap" so we can see this plan come to fruition.
It starts with a gaggle of violent clowns attacking a couple on the street. "Batman," with no memory of this plan, appears to stop them, and is overwhelmed.
And one of the clowns releases toxin.
The Batman was caught, and he's exposed. He's not real. He's Joker, and he's dying. Batman is dead, and everyone needs him. Joker needs him.
And it's with this revelation that Joker wakes– and we get confirmation that it's shot-in-the-head, sewer rat Joker who is having the dream! This has to be confirmation that he's the real one, doesn't it? Right?? It's possible the other Joker had his own dream… But I have a soft spot for the underdog. I hope he's our guy and Mr. Waffles defects to his side. Then everything will be right as rain!
Speaking of, Joker does seem to shake the dream off pretty well. For now, anyway.
I wasn't sure how to interpret this at first, but I figure it's just that Joker doesn't care too much for these friends, and having weird dreams about Batsy is more appealing even if they're nightmares about losing him and becoming a defanged normie.
Still, I expect this nightmare will bolster this Joker, who started out lost and despondent, in his efforts to get rid of his doppelganger and re-establish himself as Batman's one-and-only nemesis. Maybe bring some flowers to smooth over the divorce thing, apologize for trying to cut his face off…

This is not the thought I had when I started writing this post but I think, in retrospect, last twilight was never as magical as I once thought, and furthermore I think that the magic was actually jimmy and sea the whole time. I would maintain that the story started off strong and the blossoming romance was extremely well executed, but there were always flaws in the writing and it was always shown that day had a lot of work to do and. well. wasn’t doing it. I don’t think I was picking up on it because sea made day so unbelievably endearing even as a supposed asshole that I either didn’t notice the red flags or ignored them. You have to understand, I was not a jimmy nor sea nor jimmysea fan before I started watching last twilight. I had not already seen vice versa and wai was so long ago that I don’t even remember having an opinion of him. I had never heard of the first show sea was in. I had not been anticipating this show since the pilot trailer and wasn’t even planning to watch it. I didn’t watch it when it came out. I think I waited like two weeks before I started it. I went into it with no feelings about jimmysea, I had seen criticism of jimmy’s previous performances and I didn’t know anything about sea other than him being jimmy’s branded partner so if anything I was… prepared for them to not do all that well. I wasn’t expecting much I guess. This is the first time I put on my clown makeup. Like I said, sea as day was so endearing to me from pretty early on, maybe not ep 1 but by ep 3 I was like that’s my baby!!! I don’t know why or how but he made me fall in love with day so bad, and nothing day did (until… u know….) ever made me love him less. I really can’t describe what about him I found so lovable especially when he was definitely an asshole and wouldn’t stop with the “u have zero tenderness in your body” nonsense lmao. I think sea just has some je ne sais quoi about him or something that’s like captivating. I did watch vice versa at some point while last twilight was airing and I found talay endearing too. Even though he was more mature or like. didn’t have such a spoiled baby quality to him, so I think it’s just something about sea idk. Hell I’m already endeared to his character in the trainee from bts footage and promo pics alone 😭 ok hopefully point made bc this post is already really long and I have a lot more to say lmao.
*I promise I know how to write proper paragraphs I just am trying to type what I wanna say before my brain moves on to a new thought lmao but let me give a line break for readability*
Let me try to talk about jimmy without waxing poetic. I had pretty low expectations for him bc I had seen ppl criticize his work before so how did I end up loving him so bad!!! The answer is he’s just good at what he does!!! Was he always this good? I didn’t have any qualms about his performance as puen and I can’t remember wai. I think he was also a minor character in enchante but I didn’t watch that. Anyway, if he used to suck he doesn’t anymore!! His growth is especially impressive bc acting isn’t even his main profession!!! I don’t want to harp a lot on why last twilight disappointed me bc I want this to be a jimmysea appreciation post first and foremost but the problem with mhok that jimmy obfuscated was he really didn’t have much to him. He had a tragic backstory that was never fully explored but aside from that it was just day on the brain all day every day how can I serve day how can I help day how can I care for day how can I make day smile like girl stand up 😭 jimmy somehow managed to make mhok (to me but I’m biased) the most compelling character in the show with just his eyes!!! His eyes held SO MUCH EMOTION that it made mhok feel like a much more substantial character than he ended up being. Trying to be short and to the point now bc this is getting out of hand but I want jimmy on my screen forever, he is so special to me!!!
Last point: mhok and day did not have en equal or super healthy relationship so why did it hurt sooo bad when they broke up? Again, it was jimmysea magic masking the flaws. The chemistry was undeniable and they seemed so in love! They were always so happy to be together that you almost didn’t notice how one sided their relationship was becoming. Their comfort in each other was so real and believable bc evidently that’s not acting! It’s clear that jimmy and sea enjoy their paired roles and enjoy working together in general. I’m not thinking of anyone in particular but I don’t think all pairs could sell this natural comfort as effortlessly bc they are not…. this naturally comfortable together lmao. Jimmysea’s innate charms are exponentially amplified when they are together. I firmly believe that if jimmy wasn’t mhok and sea wasn’t day then last twilight would not have been this loved (until it got to where not even jimmysea magic could salvage it 😭)
TLDR it was jimmysea magic that masked last twilight’s flaws so well that we were dumbfounded by that ending
#I got really into this and sorta ran out of steam#I started writing a totally different post but ended up rewriting it entirely once I realized the magic of LT was jimmysea all along#and I’m pretty sure it wasn’t 11:00 when I started it…… it’s 12:15 now 😭😭😭#also I see that I was like jimmy and sea are so special bc they’re just special but I’m hoping you get it#I might elaborate on this after sleeping on it idk#jimmysea#last twilight#also I have a bandaid on my thumb and typed this whole post on my phone so this was incredibly frustrating to write :)))))#anyway. they are so important to me!!!!!

not 2 be a clown but i really Do in my heart of hearts believe that destiel was supposed to go canon more explicitly with, if not full reciprocation from dean, then at least very obvious subtextual reciprocation. and that’s why everything is so messy in the last two eps. like i think about LAMP and that whole dance sequence and the subtext was THERE. dean’s aborted confession in the trap. dean questioning what’s real and the answer being ‘we are.’ it was all THERE and building. the confession, as much as we love it, was choppy as FUCK. it was badly edited, the shots are all over the place, extreme close-ups jumping to wide shots. the goddamn shove to the wrong wall. not good cinematography. and we know a lot of dean’s reactions were cut. we pretty much figured out the ‘don’t do this cas’ was supposed to come before the ‘i love you.’ we know cas was supposed to be in the last two eps. we Know he was meant to be in the finale. and i have Never bought the “jimmy” explanation for that either. i’m sorry but that does not make sense at all and it’s 100% in my opinion a lie they told to keep fans from being even more enraged abt cas being cut from the finale. like if he was never meant to actually be there then ok fine, sucks but ok. but if cas WAS meant to be there and they CUT HIM ??? RAGE !!!! like it makes no sense to bring back jimmy for the series finale even if they wanted to go the super tragic route like....noah fence to jimmy but who tf is thinking abt jimmy novak in 2020. and esp since cas was supposedly out of the empty and had ‘helped’ rebuild heaven....he’d literally be there !! people lie ok and they lied abt that jimmy ending lmao. esp after misha said there was ‘another ending’ where cas is in the roadhouse with dean and it’s in sam’s pov meaning years after dean died, meaning they’ve been in heaven together a long time at this point. anyways, my third eye is open and i’ve Seen the truth and i Know the real ending (which still would not have been great at all bc they’d be DEAD) involved dean and cas together at the roadhouse (i saw you funko pops) being no-so-subtextually flirty and sam showing up and kansas the band plays while deancas play footsies at the bar. but the see-double-yew killed it bc they suck and hate love. but i SAW it. i know it’s real. apollo prophecy ball hit me.
#when the spn tell all book / documentary comes out you'll all see#sorry i'm losing it#destiel nov 5th breakdown is really hitting#vic.txt#deancas#destiel#nov 5th#spn 15x18

random but Breaking Bad the Saul bits just make me deeply sad now. Kim wherever she is (and I don't think she's dead, maybe she's greyscale sad like Gene) is all over the place with him still, the Nacho reference cos obviously he's never going to find out he's dead, fact that "Saul Goodman" is there when Jimmy is self loathing, just... god you know?
IT KILLS ME ANON, IT BREAKS MY HEART INTO TINY PIECES AND THEN STOMPS ON THE FRAGMENTS AND THEN PUTS THEM THROUGH THE SAUL OFFICE SHREDDER
it's wild because saul was seen as the comic relief of brba for so long - fast talking, sleazy lawyer guy, with the funny one liners, who gets to say "you two suck at peddling meth," who bob said, "is tons of fun when he's in pain" because he's always a little pathetic, clad in his bright, clashing colors. he's the breath in the continually bleak, deadly world that show inhabits. but now? every moment of him is devastating. it's all a facade, it's lies and self-loathing and loss. it's all an absence - the void where jimmy should be, the loss of love where kim existed. (i agree that she's definitely alive, but whatever happens is going to be deeply tragic regardless.) jimmy's inherently good heart is buried with the brba incarnation of saul. he's an empty clown mask and now we know everything hidden or missing behind it. the reference to nacho, the utter TERROR about lalo, that's all recontexualized now (and probably will be even further). breaking bad is a ghost story, and saul isn't real. he's a specter of jimmy.

How impossible is for mike to kill papa varga. i mean, if IF the cartel wants him dead to send a message
I'm reluctant to answer because my ability to predict this show is so shit, but that's never stopped me before! Let me put on my clown regalia first
Okay, so my thoughts are it's not likely. Who would it be sending a message to? Only Mike and Gus know Nacho died for his father - what would Papa's death accomplish for Gus? Papa doesn't even know who Gus is and is not involved in the drug business at all. And Mike works for Gus, not the cartel.
If anyone were to go after him, it would be the Salamancas out of revenge, but honestly I think Hector barely even remember Nacho's dad. He's got other things on his mind.
Secondly, it feels much too bleak. Yes, this show is a tragedy and full of bleakness, but it's dark, not grimdark. Dark is when horrible things happen to characters that are a natural consequence of the story. Grimdark is when a gratuitous amount of suffering occurs for no other reason other than it's so ~twisted~
Nacho's fate was tragic but also triumphant. He is the only character in the BrBa/BCS verse (so far) who makes a sacrifice for love.* The narrative drives home that this was a triumph with the symbol of the blue flower - a beautiful bloom in the waste. It's hopeful.
If Mike kills Papa, Nacho will have died for nothing. To me, that doesn't fit his arc.
(*Jesse also is a special case, but he's much less in control of his destiny than Nacho is when he makes his final sacrifice. I'm not saying Nacho is morally superior to Jesse. I'm sure Jesse would have done the same, but the story didn't give him a chance. His arc is different. Jimmy also tries to make a sacrifice for love, but it fails. Again, this isn't a claim that Nacho is superior - just he's the one who gets the privilege of making a great sacrifice that saves his loved one)
On the other hand, Peter Gould mentioned Mike will go as dark as it's possible for him to go and I don't feel like we've seen that yet, and he is going to be tying up loose ends in this ep. So who knows. I hope I'm right - not sure I could take Papa being put down like a dog for no reason

For the character prompts: Jon, of course! And, if you’d like another, Danny :)
Jon:
general opinion: actual love of my life
hotness level: hot jon rights, i'm making a new category for him, hot in a feral, unhinged sort of way, i will die on this hill
hogwarts house: ravenclaw through and through
best quality: he! is full! of love! this man makes my heart hurt. he tries so hard to hang onto his humanity and he makes these awful, clumsy, human decisions which, at the end of the day, ends up being driven by the fact that he just. loves people. he was heartbroken over sasha when he discovered the not!them. he killed elias citing the friends he had lost. the hunters had a knife to his throat and he still was defending gerry's memory. he tried to save jordan kennedy in the only way he could. he loves in such a clumsy, human way and i love that for him. Alternative best quality: he's a total bitch and that's great
worst quality: the boy can't think two steps ahead to save his life. literally. he has almost died several times because he can't plan worth shit.
ship them with: martin, i love them together, but i also ship him with gerry? they shared exactly one (1) episode together but they had a fantastic dynamic in it and they both legitimately treated the other with respect as a person? which is just so huge for characters that were systematically abused and used? they're both people who are isolated and used and still trying to be good. it also just has a huge ships-in-the-night aspect to it. gerry was working with gertrude when jon was at the institute. they just missed each other. and maybe, if it hadn't, they could have had someone legitimately in their corner for once
brotp them with: tim. they! were! friends! I relistened to season 2 a few months ago and tim shows such genuine concern for jon towards the beginning, before it gets messed up. and in season 1, jon trusts him to look into the oliver banks statement when he was worried it was a prank from the other two. we see so little of their early friendship but they seemed to legitimately care for each other?
needs to stay away from: elias bouchard. jimmy magma. that man. my favorite part of nhthcth comments are all of the death threats elias gets. it's great.
misc. thoughts: he's just such a tragic character and he was human until the end. he was deeply flawed and i love that because it made him so human? he wasn't your typical hero protagonist. he was just. some guy. trying his best. and in the end, he didn't win. i love that. like, the real tragedy of jonathan sims is that he was human and failed in human ways, and losing his humanity was what people accused him of most.
Danny:
general opinion: actual love of my life
hotness level: absolutely off the charts hotness, he gets a new category too, this is not me saying this this is god's truth, canonically he is obscenely hot
hogwarts house: gryffindor, my only character inspiration for him was himbo and all the boy wants to do is explore exceedingly dangerous places, the boy is just here for a good and potentially fatal time
best quality: he's very straightforward in what he wants? i'm speaking specifically of him from nhthcth, i don't have much to work with when it comes to canon danny, but like, he doesn't get caught up in a balancing risk and reward like most people. he's going straight for the gold and not getting caught up in logistics. like, he's not willing to play the sacrifice game. tim is. tim is willing to say, i'll sacrifice myself to this job because it gives danny better odds. danny would have said tough shit, we're going to succeed on the shitty odds because that's the one that actually saves us all, fuck off bouchard. like, he would die for the people he loves but he's not going to crucify himself or anyone else early. he's very solid in what he wants and what he's willing to do to get there but he's very hard to play because he's going to go the distance even if it's risky
worst quality: he will not. fucking. back down. ever. which can be a good quality in some things but it can be a really really bad quality in others. he's stubborn as shit and willing to go to ridiculous lengths to realize what he wants and sometimes that leads him to be way more reckless than is necessarily good for himself or for his greater team. he's also kind of bad with nuance? like, with jon, jon's a good person to him. he does good things with his powers. jon is good and what he does is good. simple as that. which means he fails to grasp the sheer cost of the powers and how they're legit bad to use. like, this isn't one of those things where the power is a tool and all that matters is how you use it. the power is feeding an evil god and if you use it, you're choosing to torture the person on the receiving end every single night for the rest of their lives. and yeah, jon's using it against bad people, but the act itself is bad. doesn't necessarily mean jon picked wrong when he decided to do it that way, but it does mean that jon picked something bad.
ship them with: nhthcth danny is actually aroace and has no prospects in my mind
brotp them with: jon. i love him and jon as friends. danny legitmately does not want to use jon, which is something nhthcth jon needs so badly. danny really just thinks he's a cool guy he'd like to get to know and he'd treat jon like a person, not someone who can help him get what he wants. even tim is guilty of that, to an extent. jon is tim's way of saving his brother. for danny, jon is a huge part of keeping him alive, yeah, but he doesn't want jon in his life because it's helping him. he thinks jon is a great person to have in his life because he's the sort of guy who would risk his life for a stranger. also, he's an absolute riot, holy shit, keep saying those words you crazy magic man
needs to stay away from: Grimaldi, the clown wants to peel him like an orange
misc. thoughts: kind of heart, dumb of ass. force of chaos. love is stored in the danny.

if it’s too broke, don’t fix it
so let’s be clear about one thing.
i will be writing fix-it content for the way supernatural ended, because guess what, honk honk!! i’m a clown 🤡 and as it turns out when you spend your formative coming-out-of-the-closet years invested in TV’s longest queerbait, it’s not so easy to just stop caring. go figure.
but i will not be writing fix-it for 15x20, for a simple reason: to me, it’s unfixable.
look. i am more or less convinced by this point - by looking at the internal narrative, the meta analyses, the reactions of the various cast and crew, and behind-the-scenes evidence compiled by fans far more dedicated and detail-oriented than i - that some executive fuckery happened to the ending. nothing else makes sense, nothing else explains an episode that surreally bad, nothing else explains why the run time was so much shorter than usual and why the pacing felt so clunky and stilted, if not last-minute cuts. so, sure. i’m on board. the network got cold feet and decided to axe whatever destiel content the writers may have worked in (probably too little and too late, but that’s by the by). i can even believe they had a hand in the disappearance of eileen - a long-standing love interest, a deaf character, and of course, most importantly, a woman, from the final two episodes, because everything has to be about the brodependency, of course, of course.
however, even if you take into account the possible/very likely “no homo” revisions, you’re still left... with the rest of the episode. you’re still left with dean winchester - a character overwhelmingly read as bisexual, an abuse survivor, the poster child for PTSD both mundane and supernatural (no pun intended)... dying young on a random hunt. and this wasn’t the result of last-minute executive meddling: this was the plan from the start of season 15, and it’s why jensen struggled so much last year with accepting the finale (rather than any ~homophobic feelings~ about 15x18, which he only got the script for a couple months in advance and was reportedly completely fine with). and sure, there’s a chance executives may have had a hand in that too, but at the moment we have no evidence to believe so.
dean started the series as a traumatized kid who’s been turned into a weapon by a physically and emotionally absent father, an unforgiving and unloving man who raised him to believe his only purpose in life was to look after his younger sibling, whether that meant saving him or killing him. dean was parentified from at least as young as the age of 8, left to do the physical and emotional labour his father should have been doing for both him and sam. dean spent much of the series borderline suicidal, believing he had no intrinsic worth beyond what he could sacrifice to keep others safe. dean spent much of the series believing he would always die young and bloody, that sam was the only one of the two of them who would get to live a full life.
and the show decided to end by confirming all of that, by killing dean off as soon as he’d finally found freedom from destiny. and not even in a blaze of glory for some higher purpose, no-- he was killed off on a random case in what i’m sure some writer felt was a delightful example of ~tragic irony~. well, guess what? i’m not laughing. you lead viewers on an emotional journey for 15 years, they’re going to want catharsis at the end. this? this was the opposite of catharsis. i don’t know if there is an opposite of catharsis, but the internet suggests defilement (probably a good enough translation of the greek miasma) and that feels about right.
and that kind of defilement doesn’t serve the story, either-- because dean spent the later seasons coming to accept that maybe he could have a happy ending, that maybe he did deserve to retire, to enjoy his life, to finally rest - and he definitely didn’t mean rest in peace. the narrative led us on this journey of seeing an abused, PTSD-crippled character start to want more for himself - only to rip all that out from under him in the name of misguided ~high stakes drama. probably because happy endings for everyone are boring and cliché’d and having a ~shocking conclusion is better than having a good conclusion (s/o GOT finale). growth? healing? coming to see yourself in a better light and demanding more for yourself? unrealistic.
well, miss me with that shit. as a bisexual person who took a long time to come to terms with my identity, as an eldest daughter, as someone who deeply believes in the narrative idea of humanity trying and trying and trying until they finally reach happiness - fucking miss me with that gratuitous tragedy shit. i want soft epilogues. i want endings tied with a ribbon. i think we - especially the queer community, especially women, especially people who’ve struggled with low self worth and mental health - deserve it by now.
so, you see, it’s not so much that i can’t write a fix-it for 15x20. in fact, it would be simple enough to do - tragedy is easy to spin into emotional content. which i promise is not a dig at people writing or enjoying that kind of content, because i’ve read some myself, and it has been excellent; more power to you all. all i’m saying is it would be easy enough to write dean getting to heaven and seeing jimmy novak castiel in that roadhouse, whether or not kansas is playing. it would be easy enough to write dean driving to cas and them meeting under a starry sky, ‘the night we met’ playing in the background as it was originally meant to in 15x20, and to imagine them having a tearful, bittersweet, at least we finally have each other reunion.
the truth is that i won’t. i refuse to. even if i believe that the writers would have given us a destiel endgame if not for executive interference - and that still remains to be definitively seen - it’s not the endgame i would have wanted. it’s not the endgame we deserve after 15 fucking years.
queer characters shouldn’t have to die for the right to be happy. we deserve a soft epilogue - and i’ll write my own, damn it.

It: Chapter Two: Launch date, forged, plot, theories, rumors
http://tinyurl.com/y44jcsdp Stephen King’s It crawled again onto the scene in 2017, when the first of two movie remakes got here out. The second movie, based mostly like the primary on King’s 1,100-page 1986 bestseller, shouldn’t be a sequel — it is a continuation of the plot, going down 27 years after the primary movie. Members of the Losers’ Club from the primary movie have been recast with grownup actors, although the younger actors may even seem in flashback. A teaser trailer released in May focuses on a grown-up Bev Marsh, performed by Jessica Chastain, as she discovered that generally, you’ll be able to’t (and should not) go house once more. In early June, director Andy Muschietti confirmed that the film would head to San Diego Comedian-Con forward of the autumn launch. No phrase on what to anticipate, however some folks on workers are already having nightmares about pink balloons. Creator Stephen King himself apparently loves the movie — earlier than the trailer got here out, he raved about it in a tweet, saying, “Trying ahead to IT CHAPTER 2? You ought to be. I’ve seen it, and it is terrific.” Final summer time, Chastain, who took on the function of Bev from youthful actress Sophia Lillis, tweeted a photo displaying Lillis passing the story’s notorious pink balloon to her older counterpart. “If we’re telling the story of adults, we’re going to have flashbacks that take us again to the ’80s and inform the story within the current day,” director Muschietti told Entertainment Weekly (Muschetti additionally directed 2017’s It). From left to proper, the grown-up Losers. Invoice Hader as Richie Tozier; Chastain as Bev; James McAvoy as Invoice Denbrough; James Ransone as Eddie Kaspbrak; Isaiah Mustafa as Mike Hanlon; and Jay Ryan as Ben Hascomb. Brooke Palmer/Warner Bros. Photos Launch date, manufacturing information The film was filmed within the Toronto space within the late summer time and early fall of 2018. Canadian movie buffs took photos of the action and shared them online. In August, the Northumberland Information shared a shot of Pennywise perched on the shoulder of a Paul Bunyan statue in Memorial Park in Port Hope, Ontario. Paul and Pennywise make for a disturbing duo to make certain. Now enjoying: Watch this: It: Chapter Two trailer exhibits Pennywise coming again 2:56 Solid: Who’s who? Try a photograph of the grownup forged gathering in July 2018 as filming was about to begin. Plot information, rumors and theories Readers know what occurs: The plot is not any secret to anybody who’s learn King’s terrifying novel. The Losers’ Membership of misfit youngsters who fought killer clown Pennywise be taught that he is again 27 years later, and so they’re the one ones who can try and cease him. The King novel wove the 2 age teams collectively, however the motion pictures separate out the youngsters combating Pennywise within the first movie from their grownup variations doing the identical (with some seemingly flashbacks). And there have been some adjustments to King’s novel within the first movie, so there could but be some surprises, even for loyal King readers. Two grim scenes: Screenwriter Gary Dauberman instructed The Hollywood Reporter in Might 2019 that two disturbing scenes from King’s guide could be included within the movie. One includes a hate crime towards a homosexual character whose attackers are being influenced by Pennywise, and the opposite includes a tragic chapter in grownup Bev’s private life. Extra about Pennywise: Again in 2017, Invoice Skarsgård told Metro UK that this second movie will discover his creepy character much more. “It is a completely different story,” he mentioned. “However I am excited to delve in deeper to the character as there’s extra exploration for who Pennywise is.” Particularly, the actor has discussed a disturbing scene displaying a less-clown-like Pennywise within the 1600s that was shot for the primary movie and never used. Some are questioning if that might be included in Chapter Two. Buckets of blood: Chastain appeared on The Tonight Present Starring Jimmy Fallon in February 2019 and warned that there is a scene within the movie which may include the most important quantity of (pretend) blood ever spilled in a horror-movie scene. “The subsequent day, I used to be like, pulling blood out of my eyeballs,” she mentioned. Do not be like Mike: Director Muschietti mentioned in 2017 that the character of Mike, the one Losers’ Membership member who stays in Derry, might be completely different from the novel. “My concept of Mike within the second film is kind of darker from the guide,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “I need to make his character the one pivotal character who brings all of them collectively, however staying in Derry took a toll with him. I would like him to be a junkie really. A librarian junkie. When the second film begins, he is a wreck.” Scenes we’d see: After the primary film was filmed, producer Barbara Muschietti told journalists that some scenes did not match within the price range for that movie, however would possibly make Chapter 2. One scene particularly, a bloodbath on the Black Spot nightclub, could even open the brand new movie. “That sequence with the Black Spot, we predict it is gonna be an incredible opening for the subsequent movie,” Muschietti mentioned on the time. Whether or not or not that makes it to the opening scene, we must wait and see. We all know for positive that the movie will embody flashback scenes. Courtesy Warner Bros. Photos Tongue-twister: Screenwriter Daubman told Cinema Blend in September 2018 {that a} weird factor of King’s guide, referred to as The Ritual of Chüd, will play a job within the movie. Cinema Mix explains it like this: “The Ritual of Chüd is mainly a psychic battle of wills, however is translated by the creator with some very odd imagery. Particularly, the thought is that Pennywise and a member of the Losers Membership every prolong their tongues, overlap them, chunk down, after which change jokes till one get together laughs.” Do not get an enormous Coke: No affirmation for this, however one Twitter consumer claims that the movie is “virtually three hours lengthy.” Hey, after Avengers: Endgame, we’re all used to bladder-buster movies, proper? Turtle time: Within the guide, the traditional turtle Maturin is seen because the creator of the universe Although director Andy Muschietti was gentle on turtle references within the first film, he told SyFy Wire to count on extra within the second movie. “I feel within the second half, the turtle will attempt to assist them,” he mentioned. “Within the second film, the turtle left a couple of clues to their childhood that they do not keep in mind. They must retrieve these reminiscences from the summer time of 1989, and that is how we leap again to 1989.” Heartbreaker: Screenwriter Daubman says to carry your tissues. “The ending I feel will fulfill the viewers and possibly break their hearts somewhat bit,” he told Slash Film in September 2018. This story was first revealed in August 2018 and is recurrently up to date. Source link

‘Breaking Bad’ Cast Reunites To Celebrate The Show’s 10 Year Anniversary, And Gustavo Looks Nothing Like He Did On The Show
It has already been 10 years since AMC released a quirky drama series about a terminally ill middle-aged teacher who starts cooking meth. And it has been nearly five years since the critically worshiped, Emmy award-winning, Breaking Bad ended. To treat the fans of the show, its cast members have reunited in the pages of this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly, and it’s hitting us hard with nostalgia. The actors not only shared the memories from the set but posed for an exclusive photoshoot as well. Scroll down to check out how they talk about the show that made such a big impact on their careers.

“It was the best script I’d ever read, but nowhere in the pilot’s script does it say where that journey is going to go or how far it’s going to go,” says Cranston. “Is he just going to dabble in it for a little bit and then get out or what? And when [creator Vince Gilligan] told me he wanted to change this character from good to bad, completely, we realize that this has never happened before. So what Vince Gilligan did was change the construct of what was possible in series television. He changed it. It was all about stasis before. Whether you’re Thomas Magnum or Archie Bunker or Ross and Rachel, you are those people — or Tony Soprano — you are those people and you are reacting to different stimuli. But this is completely different. And he gave every one of us our own individuality.”

Aaron Paul (Jesse Pinkman)

“We were all so fortunate to be able to play characters in the show where it wasn’t just a one color, one tone, throughout the entire series,” says Paul. “We all had these beautifully complex arcs that we didn’t know where our characters were heading. And Jesse, I really love this kid so much, but when I first read the script, I had no idea where he was going. I mean, he was supposed to die at the end of the first season. Vince didn’t know where he was going, the writers didn’t know where he was going. But where they took him was just such a brutal struggle — this journey that he went on, that we all went on — it was incredible.”

Anna Gunn (Skyler White)
“Vince wanted her always to be such a strong person, somebody who didn’t fall apart and who didn’t wallow in self-pity but really always took charge,” says Gunn. “That was always really fascinating about her. That a mind as brilliant as [Walt’s] mind was, her mind was as brilliant in her own way. She was always trying to figure out, ‘Okay, this is the situation, this is the challenge. Now what do we do? How do we go into action?’”

Bob Odenkirk (Saul Goodman)

“The story is still going on for me,” says Odenkirk, who stars in prequel Better Call Saul. “But there’s a pretty big leap there, between the Saul in Breaking Bad and the Jimmy McGill-Saul of Better Call Saul. It was a blast and a challenge to play Saul in Breaking Bad. It was a very energized character…. It was also a challenge to get in a room with these actors, on this level. I was used to being around clowns. Children playing with mud pies. And then I’m suddenly in this top-notch [show], surrounded by these people…. You only saw one dimension of him pretty much in Breaking Bad, so this show was a setup. And then this has been a massive journey, where I can relate to the many sides that they brought to this character, in this second show.”

Dean Norris (Hank Schrader)
“One of the most interesting things for me was the fact that he went from a comic, kind of buffoonish character — which was really fun to play — to somewhere in the third season, becoming a much more tragic character,” says Norris. “It’s rare that you get to do that kind of an arc anywhere, to be honest with you. I think I might have asked Vince at some point, ‘Do I need to audition again for this?’ Because it’s a totally different kind of character.”
Betsy Brandt (Marie Schrader)
“I had never played a character that long before, and that right in itself is a gift, as an actor to be able to take a journey like that,” says Brandt. “We read the pilot and I said to my husband, ‘This is the best pilot that I’ve ever read.’ I love Marie — to this day, I love her, and I’m so thankful for the wonderful things about her and I’m so thankful for all her faults too because it was just ridiculously fun to play…. Someone asked me, because it’s been 10 years since it premiered, what I miss most. And, hands down, it’s the people. To get to make this kind of show with this group of people — I mean, it just doesn’t get any better than that.”

Giancarlo Esposito (Gustavo Fring)
“Bryan Cranston has been quoted as saying to me, ‘I don’t know how the guy does it, but he scares me because all of a sudden he turns around and he turns back and his eyes are dead,’” says Esposito. “I just used to look right through Bryan and he would just go, ‘Where, where does that come from, that cold and cruel look?’ But it’s something that gets developed and I know how to drop to get there, but it’s always in that place where we leave ourselves behind as actors and we take on the trappings and the physicality of the character that we’ve created that’s become a part of us.”

Jonathan Banks (Mike Ehrmantraut)
“He’s a hardass whose real downfall is his softness,” says Banks. “There’s a side of him that’s good that eventually destroys him. Whether he acts on it or not, he has a sympathy for the underdog, for the vulnerable. Mike is the guy, even to his physical harm, that would step in and protect somebody being bullied.”

RJ Mitte (Walter White Jr.)
“I felt I could really relate to Walt Jr. in many ways with the family situation and what was going on in my life,” he says. “It was really nice having a disabled character on television. Since Breaking Bad, I’ve been able to work with numerous charitable organizations and SAG-AFTRA’s Diversity Division. And it really helped open the door for a lot of people in the disability community with equal-opportunity employment, in how Walt Jr. was represented as a character, and not a disabled character. And it was one of those surreal experiences.”

Vince Gilligan (Breaking Bad creator)
“Being a student of television, I realized that in most television shows the characters maintained their characteristics throughout the life of the series. They didn’t really change,” says Gilligan. “I was very desirous of creating a show where the main character changed. I didn’t necessarily think of it in terms of being groundbreaking. I mainly worried that because it was a different take on the structure of a television show that that would be a ding against it and that it would make it harder to get made.”

MULTI REVIEW POST Everything, Everything - Paperback Book Edition READ: 3/21-22/17 4/5 "Risk everything . . . for love. What if you couldn’t touch anything in the outside world? Never breathe in the fresh air, feel the sun warm your face . . . or kiss the boy next door? In Everything, Everything, Maddy is a girl who’s literally allergic to the outside world, and Olly is the boy who moves in next door . . . and becomes the greatest risk she’s ever taken. My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla. But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He's tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly. Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster. " Alright, I confess, I saw the trailer for this with Beauty & The Beast in theaters. I'd heard about it for a while but the push was seeing the trailer. I realize the ending of the book is troublesome (and negates the point the book might have been trying to make) but despite the reveal I thought the book captured most of what it set out to do rather well. It captured isolation really, really well and despite certain points this was a fairly quick (and yet, sort of fluffy) read. I'll probably watch the film as well. ------------------------------------------ Seven Black Diamonds - Paperback Book Edition; Book 1 of a series READ: 3/16-23/17 4/5 "Lilywhite Abernathy is a criminal—she’s half human, half fae, and since the time before she was born her very blood has been illegal. A war has been raging between humans and faeries and the Queen of Blood and Rage, ruler of the fae courts, wants to avenge the tragic death of her heir due to the actions of reckless humans. Lily’s father has always shielded her from the truth, but when she’s sent to the prestigious St. Columba’s school, she’s delivered straight into the arms of a fae sleeper cell—the Black Diamonds. The Diamonds are planted in the human world as the sons and daughters of the most influential families, and tasked with destroying it from within. Against her will, Lilywhite’s been chosen to join them … and even the romantic attention of the fae rock singer Creed Morrison isn’t enough to keep Lily from wanting to run back to the familiar world she knows." I have a friend that recommended Melissa Marr's books to me when I was in my teens. I never picked one up till now and I found myself pleasantly surprised by her work. Okay, maybe the writing isn't the sharpest it could be but darn it this was just a fun read. I really loved the whole set up and this was actually my first time where faeries were the main mythology in a book. I'm pretty excited to see where she takes this because I could also smell the rockstar/fan OTP coming from a mile away and it was enjoyable overall and I want to see where the characters end up especially the lead. ------------------------------------------ Harley Quinn Vol. 1: Die Laughing (Rebirth) - ARC via Netgalley READ: 2/4/17; RELEASE: 3/21/17 3/5 "Harley’s back in this new Vol. 1 graphic novel from DC Rebirth! Her name is Dr. Harleen Quinzel—better known to her friends and enemies as Harley Quinn. Her very-very-ex-boyfriend the Joker may be the Clown Prince of Crime, but Harley’s the Queen of Coney Island! So when the zombie apocalypse threatens her li’l seaside stretch of paradise, who else would ya call to give the undead a blow to the head? In these platitudinous pages, the baddest bad girl in the entire DC Universe joins forces with everyone from her gal pal Poison Ivy to the New York City punk scene to take down anyone who stands between her and a good time—living, dead or undead. Fists will fly, hammers will fall, dudes will be brutalized and the ladies will rule the night! The acclaimed writing team of Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti joins forces with artists John Timms and Chad Hardin and draft a new beginning for DC’s craziest anti-hero in HARLEY QUINN VOL. 1: DIE LAUGHING—exploding from the blockbuster DC Rebirth event! Collects HARLEY QUINN #1-7." This was a well done compilation (sort of a mish mash of "the best of Harley Quinn") and I gotta say the writing as well as all the characterization was done pretty well. I also loved a look at some of the more colorful choices for covers.
