Chicken Soup Cook - Off
It is cold outside. Would you like to warm up? Many people warmed up this past weekend by sampling savory soups at the Cincinnati Chicken Soup Cook-Off. It was held in Amberley Village at the Isaac M. Wise Temple Center. Single adult admission was $6, single child admission was $3, family admission – any size was $16. There were a large number of attendees who came, tasted and voted for their favorite soup. This was the 13th annual Chicken Soup Cook-Off. “This event was found in 2003 and from the beginning it has been a huge success” said volunteer Victoria Hitchcock. This event was so popular that parking was limited at the Wise Center. Additional parking was available at the Mayerson JCC right off of the Ridge exit south of Cross County Highway. People could park there and catch a shuttle bus service. Professional entrants were Jewish Hospital, Kroger, Belterra Park, Izzy’s, McAlister’s Deli, Seasons Retirement Community, Bravo Deerfield, Bravo Mason, Barresi’s Restaurant, Bravo Rookwood, JCC, Montgomery Inn, Stone Creek Dining Company, The Wich, Bombay Brazier, Pit to Plate Barbeque, and more. There were both Amateur and Professional entrants. “People cook gallons of chicken soup and each entrant makes extra soup that is donated to the Over the Rhine Soup Kitchen” said volunteer Jason Anderson. Due to the large number of volunteers and the many people that participated, this event appeared to be a success. The proceeds from the cook off have enabled the Wise Temple Brotherhood to provide services to Wise Temple and the Community.
