#Jessica Rabbit was an icon in the sense that we finally got representation for women who prefer complete idiots and dorks

Well you see, all I had heard prior to this was that there was a Chip n Dale movie in the making, so I assumed it'd be in character, to say the least, or maybe a reboot of some sort. Which is why upon seeing this I was convinced this must have been a parody of the upcoming movie, although the voice acting should have been a dead giveaway, it seemed so absurd that I was more inclined to believe someone got both a John Mulaney and Andy Samberg impersonator than to believe it was real

That was quite the shock... not necessarily disappointing. Just a very what the fuck moment

I actually really like Samberg's work in voice acting, (I mean he was literally the number one reason why I bothered to watch the 4th Hotel Transylvania, he's such a precious dork in it) but it is still a bit uncanny to see the characters with grown men voices as opposed to the squeaky ones, regardless of the actor behind them

HOWEVER, I think that can also be used for a good pun... since in the movie they were actors for a tv show, i think it'd be pretty clever if at some point they mentioned that they made the squeaky voices on purpose for their characters and these are their actual voices. I hope they do smth like that instead of pretending that they had regular voices all along >_> if the fanfic writer can come up with an in-world explanation so can yall at Disney. That being said, I'm afraid I have a bias against John bc it's a bit hard to separate him from his voice after watching so many of his standups, but idt he's bad at it either

Just... grown up men voices sound so uncanny coming from them o-o

I'm also a bit iffy about the fact that even the 2D animation is still 3D animation made to look like 2D, bc COME ON, if there was ONE excuse to bring it back, it was NOW. Especially considering that the time when Chip n Dale aired was the height of 2D Disney animated shows. And it's not like yall dont have the budget for it, DISNEY >_> So yeah, I do hope it comes out more finished looking since the movement and the lighting does look a bit off, but I cant really see it being much different from what we see now given how long animation takes to finish

But honestly as a major fan of Who framed Roger Rabbit this is both exciting and concerning. Exciting bc Roger Rabbit really was a one of a kind movie and seeing that kind of premise used again and seeing his cameo is just cool. Like?? Roger Rabbit in the god forsaken year of 2022?? Hell yeah

But concerning bc Roger Rabbit was so GOOD at what it did. The animation was so fenomenal, the work behind it was so detailed and creative, that it just set the standard too high - especially considering how today we have much more resources to make it even BETTER, but no, they don't bother to. (Nostalgia Critic recently released a video breaking down the animation and world-blending tricks used to make Roger Rabbit flow so well and it's honestly fascinating how much care and creativity went into it. 17:55 for those interested). So, yeah, it's a bit disappointing to see something that could be a great 'sequel' just... not be bc they killed 2D

BUT it's also super meta apparently, and I guess it'll be up to the writing whether this is a good critic, or an obnoxious one. Either way, it looks fun and batshit insane, so yes i will be watching this, preferibly high on my meds on a call with friends so I can get the best experience out of it

Also, yes, I know it was a thing in the show... but the fact that they're using it as an 'addicted to crack' analogy still hit me on the back of the head like a swinging bat
