A RILEY JARED STEARNS RETROSPECTIVE

My name is Joshua Thomas Gallegos. And this is my Riley Jared Stearns retrospective, or as I like to call him “Jared the Jet”. Today I will be discussing his films and maybe a few things about his personality that have made me so obsessed with him and his Instagram feed.

This is a mock one on one interview I did with Riley, or not. If I had to describe his eloquence, he’d be a vivacious pink puma with peacock feathers and glittery silvery teeth, I adore Jared the Jet.

Our one-on-one interview took place inside a U-Haul cargo truck. It was sunny and it was recorded somewhere in Los Angeles.

Riley enters the U-Haul, he has an athletic body and wears super tight pants. He looks like a younger CM Punk, but no one ever mentions it. I am here, Joshua Gallegos, waiting in a director’s chair from Wal-Mart, snacking on cheddar popcorn. I arise with a grand smile and a bow.

Riley doesn’t bow but cautiously takes a seat in a much more inferior chair, one found near a dumpster. It probably smells, but he says nothing.

This is our conversation as follows:

Joshua: “Oh my god, Jared the Jet Stearns, this is a great honor.”

Riley: “Thanks for inviting me Josh.”

Joshua: “Ugh, Joshy please, call me Joshy.”

Riley: “Yeah, Joshy.”

Joshua: “So, Riley, you’re so fit, what is your secret?”

Riley: “Well, I skateboard a lot, eat a lot of veggies, drink water—”

Joshua: “And you do the jiu jitsu thing as well, like karate but not- it’s like grapple attacks with Brazil.”

Riley:” Uh, sure, you said we only had three min—”

Joshua: “Tell me about your new movie, Dual, I hear great things about it already, some critics kind of hate you now, but overall, your movies are always fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.”

Riley: “Well, it was shot in Finland, it stars Aaron Paul and Karen Gillan—”

Joshua: “I call her Gillian or giraffe girl—”

Riley: “Hey, that’s not nice- if you say something mean, I’ll leave—”

Joshua: “Yeah, bitch.”

(Cringe moment)

Joshua: “I’ve seen Karen naked on Google, I … I have no comment.”

Riley: “That’s because you’re an asshole- and we’re done.

(Riley tosses chair and exits U-Haul).

 I’m sorry, Riley. I think Karen is gorgeous and a brilliant talent. We haven’t spoken to each other ever since; I hope he forgives me.

 ROLEY STONE MAGAZINE

I first became aware of Riley’s existence before 2012. I saw every single one of his short films before he made The Cub, which made him into a legitimate writer/director when it screened at the Sundance Film Festival. He soon made his directorial debut with the movie FAULTS, which was made with a super tiny mosquito budget, and Ansel Roth was a megalithic loveable asshole, which is why I liked the movie.

The opening scene has Ansel in a hotel restaurant, reusing a food voucher and attempting to get away with it. But the waiter is on to him, he’s like, “wait, this guy is asking for catsup now… nobody does that.” And so, the cinematic giant that is Riley, uses his wizardry to enthrall us with uncontrollable laughter, when the waiter calls the manager. After further inspection of the voucher, Ansel continues to consume a bottle of ketchup like a mad Komodo dragon.

This is unique and foreshadowing of the looney debaser psychotronic madness that is Ansel. We know he is in penury; he clings on to this catsup for the sole purpose of being in control, he demands free food because he is a writer and the hotel celebrity attraction. Ansel wanted the respect he deserved, and that scene alone tells us a lot.

 I don’t want to get into a bevy of details when it comes to FAULTS, it’s a snake charmer, but you can probably read many more fun things about it online. I personally thought it was psychotronic cum laude Digorno fartness. It’s the only way I can describe that one viewing from almost ten years ago. I heart it, so fuck you reader. This is what you get.

 And then came THE ART OF SELF-DEFENSE. It starred Jesse Eisenberg, the guy from The Social Network. I can describe it as a weenie who becomes a sausage. That’s the character transformation. Who masturbates to black and white photocopied boobs? And he’s so thin, grotesquely thin.

I’d describe Riley as a man with dry humor. He’s like a dry McDonald’s plain kid’s burger. No cheese, no mayo, just two soggy sad buns, a meat and pickles. It’s not juicy, it’s just there to quench a kid’s hunger. That’s sort of his mission. Riley is saying “don’t savor me, just eat me dry with no coke, and if you do drink something you’re getting unsweet tea.” Or something like that. How for instance can we describe the scene when we see a slow-motion large penis in the movie TAOSD? Or the loveable Dachshund which I heard was viciously murdered in the production of the movie.

I do not own a shirt for this purpose. Dog murder is wrong. I still enjoyed TAOSD, but I was somewhat traumatized by its violent end. I can still recall a sequence in which a biker gang brutally films and murders an innocent man. It’s kind of like Mortal Kombat but with weenies. I only saw the film twice on Hulu, but I still remember the framing and odd fuzzy fetish twinkie bears. It is a layered art movie like a Hostess Twinkie. It has cream, but it does miss certain opportunities. I wanted Jesse Eisenberg to have sex with Imogen or maybe he’s into molesting children? What? Think of Fritz Lang’s ‘M’. It would’ve made this a deeper character Goodwill Hunting jostle mock clock.

 Riley’s new film ‘DUAL’ is now out in select theaters, mainly AMC venues and Drafthouse theaters. I’d have to Uber to a theater, which would cost me $40 plus ticket price since I don’t have a car. I am eager to see where he takes Dual, it’s not a low-rent Gemini Man, Will Smith is an asshole. Gemini Man is for pussy 4th graders, and DUAL is an adult movie which would require adult supervision if a 4th grader were to see it. It’s like a Dracula piano, or Phantom of the Opera monster playing the harmonic piano at night. That’s the energy I got from the trailer. Don’t sleep on Roley Bear, he’s got the goods and all the little kids are invited to take a lick.

Era uno de los ms jvenes de aquel equipo del PP compostelano. En su caso, solo se vio investigado y tuvo que ir a determinar a Lugo, pero no pas por trances mayores.

El otro imputado que tambin pis la crcel. Como directivo de la empresa que gestiona el servicio de aguas en Santiago, Mguez Rey fue sealado por De Lara por supuestos favores a polticos. Unas acusaciones que jams llegaron a sustentarse ni a concretarse, como la jueza Lpez-Suevos le afea a De Lara en su automóvil. Para l, estos siete aos han sido una tortura. Fue detenido, estuvo tambin en prisin preventiva y entre las medidas que se tomaron contra l se incluy la prohibicin de entregarse el pas, lo que le impidi poder examinar a su grupo poltica en el extranjero. Con todo, para l lo peor fue convivir con la preocupacin de su superiora, que falleci ayer de poder ver como el nombre de su hijo quedaba desinteresado.

Entre las merienda personas que han quedado libres en la ms importante de las piezas de la Pokmon en Santiago estn tres funcionarios el Concello: Roco Montas, Mara Moreno y Romn Otero. Este ltimo fue uno de los detenidos en su puesto, esposado en presencia de sus compaeros y pas treinta horas en el calabozo. Cmo no nos iba a afectar poco as? Yo sal esposado en el telediario y me vieron todos mis amigos. Tambin nos afect profesionalmente, porque quin va a ascender a un imputado en un caso de corrupcin? Nadie. Yo ped una permuta al Concello de Vigo y me la denegaron porque era el imputado, relata.

Otro de los perjudicados por la cuando menos errtica instruccin de Pilar de Lara en la Pokmon fue el exconcejal socialista Bernardino Rama, que recientemente tambin se vio libre por el archivo de otra habitación separada de esta fracasada macrocausa. La presentación de Xos Snchez Bugallo a la alcalda compostelana le ha hecho recuperar peso en el PSdeG–PSOE, ya que es uno de los principales amigos y consejeros del regidor.

La repertorio de desimputados en esta rama de la Pokmon santiaguesa la completan Jess Fuentes Maceira, un patrón regional que destac como promotor de conciertos, y Alexandre Ros Valls, que estaba al frente de una firma catalana.

En todos los casos, tras ir a los juzgados de Lugo a determinar en presencia de Pilar de Lara al principio de la instruccin, los imputados llevaban aos sin retener cero del procedimiento, aunque vean como se denegaban las peticiones de sobreseimiento que solicitaron algunos de ellos. El automóvil de archivo destaca que nunca qued claro qu se imputaba a ningún de ellos.

Un chorreo de desimputaciones previas en Ourense, Lugo y A Corua

La desimputacin de una docena de ex altos cargos y funcionarios en el Concello de Santiago interiormente de las macrocausas de la jueza Pilar de Lara no es poco circunstancial. Otros polticos, empleados pblicos o empresarios han arruinado exonerados tras aos de procedimiento ahora cuestionado desde otras instancias judiciales.

Adems de numerosos tcnicos y funcionarios, en A Corua fueron dos los cargos electos imputados en diciembre del 2013 por esa jueza: los concejales Jos Nogueira (PSOE) y Julio Flores (PP), que por entonces era portavoz del gobierno regional. Ambos defendieron su inocencia, pero eso no cambi su situacin jurídico y renunciaron a repetir en las listas de sus respectivos partidos, lo que supuso el fin de sus carreras polticas. Lo mismo ocurri con Xan Cajigal (BNG), que habón sido concejal hasta el 2011 y dio otro paso atrs al ser imputado.

Nogueira fue desimputado de una de las piezas que le afectaba en abril del 2016, cuando se archiv una investigacin sobre las supuestas irregularidades en unas obras ejecutadas en el pecera corus en el 2009. Pero otras piezas que tambin a esos tres antiguos cargos polticos y la mayora de los tcnicos y funcionarios corueses siguen abiertas, nueve aos despus de que De Lara pusiese en marcha las pesquisas en el 2011.

Casi ocho aos despus, los investigados en Ourense en el ámbito de aquella trama siguen en la misma situacin. Se imput al socialista Francisco Rodrguez, exalcalde, al directivo de la empresa Vendex, Adrin Cordero, a Fernando Varela, concejal del BNG y al superintendente de la Polica Local, por delitos de trfico de influencias y si correctamente no se han concretado a da de hoy cargos contra ellos ni se ha archivado la causa, que sigue en Lugo.

Meses despus del estallido de la Pokemon se imput al exacalde de O Carballio, Argimiro Marnotes, por trfico de influencias a raz de la contratacin de unos trabajos de desbroce, si correctamente qued exonerado en 2015 al no ver la jueza de esa asiento indicios de delito.

El exalcalde socialista de Lugo Jos Lpez Orozco ya consigui cinco archivos de causas abiertas contra l por Pilar De Lara. Dos de ellas estn relacionadas con la trama Pokmon: la adjudicacin de la gra y la Fbrica de la Luz.

Por su parte Xos Ramn Gmez Besteiro, ex presidente de la Diputacin de Lugo y secretario de los socialistas gallegos, sigue teniendo irresoluto su acusacin en el caso Garan, por la autorizacin en su da de la polmica urbanizacin. Besteiro solicit la recusacin de la jueza y una vez que fue sancionada incluso lo pidi en presencia de la Audiencia de Lugo, pero por ahora no fall y sigue imputado.
