Tiny excerpt from my Jess/Johnny fic because I am thinking about them right now ❤️ Full fic is set to be posted on June 1, 2024!

“I think…” McKay says, staring at Jess’ mouth. “That you’ve cooled off enough. You’re free to go.” If you want.

The deputy pushes himself to his feet and gives Jess a long look before slowly walking across the room towards the far door. There’s something deliberate in the way he moves, hips swinging a little more than before, and he pauses when he reaches the door, hand settling on the knob.

He glances back over his shoulder then, eyes dragging slowly from Jess’ boots and back up to his face. They stare at each other for a moment longer, and then McKay pushes open the door and disappears into the darkness of the back room.

He doesn’t close it behind him.
