Writing prompt 😄😈

While waiting for Nick at the police station, LaCroix bumps into Schanke's daughter Jenny, doing her homework: two reports, one on daily life in Rome, and the other on a famous Roman soldier.

She was going to do Julius Caesar, but he has a different general in mind...

As soon as I got this prompt, I immediately started writing it. Took three months (thanks to the holidays draining me) but I finished it!

Back in the present, as Schanke and Nick leave Stonetree's office, Schanke says, I thought you were on my side. Nick answers, Not when you're the one of the hunted. Schanke answers, You make it sound like open season. Nick says, I'm not making you go up north with Myra and Jenny. Schanke answers, Being holed up in some sleazy motel is better? Nick says, Okay, so go up north. Schanke says, I can't find this guy sitting on my ass, Nick. Nick answers, You not going to find this guy, Don. You're going to stay put so he doesn't find you. Come on.

Stonetree tells Schanke, It would be a good idea if you sent Myra and Jenny up there with 24-hour-a-day uniforms till we catch the guy. Schanke agrees, Yeah. Stonetree continues, It would also be a good idea if you went along. Schanke answers, Uh-uh. Sorry. Nick adds, It's different now. You're a target. The equation's changed. Schanke answers, Nick, I really don't think you understand the situation. Nick's mind goes to memory of the past.

In Capt. Stonetree's office, Schanke says, Jeez, he was after me, not Jimmy. Stonetree says, This guy would have hit you right then and there if he wanted to. Schanke answers, Then what the hell is that tattoo doing on my forehead? Nick answers, He's after both of you, but he wants you to sweat first. Schanke answers, It's working. Stonetree asks, Don, you still got that cottage up north? Schanke answers, Yeah. Stonetree tells Schanke, It would be a good idea if you sent Myra and Jenny up there.

Schanke says, Myra can do that too. Nick asks, Are she and Jenny okay now? Schanke answers, Yeah, thanks to you. I really got in over my head there, didn't I? Nick says, Well, you brought him down.
