I wasn’t ready for a city without Jenny, It seemed greyer, colder. I wasn’t ready to go back to the offices either. I knocked over several boxes of Kane’s possessions looking for a scarf Jenny had left behind. She had told me once, quietly, that It helped with adult sadness. I eventually found it folded under a seat cushion. I wore it all winter before losing it in the spring.
