Eve: “Girls, quit it. You’re both pretty.”
Ezekiel: “I AM SO MUCH PRETTIER-okay.”
the sibling fighting in this episode is top tier and poor Eve has to deal with it while Cassandra and Jenkins are scavenger-hunting around the Library and being adorable

So I’ve been re-watching The Librarians again (okay, I’ve had it running for background while I work) and I noticed something which has to be a deliberate acting choice. Jenkins has a tendency to cross an arm over his chest and rest his hand over his heart. It is subtle, but it seems to be linked to his feeling emotionally vulnerable. At first I thought it was just a reflex, but then I realized--it isn’t Jenkins, it’s Galahad raising his shield. I’m not sure what to do with this...

"And some dude named Jeff" Season 4 episode 10
The Jenkins Episode. LOVE IT.
Full disclosure: I am a lifelong DnD nerd. I started with 3.5 back in the 90s. I am this label, this label is me.
It's kind of sad that Dolores gives the cats a sunny upstairs room and Jeff lives in the basement.
...now that I think about it, why does the woman have like 12 cats in one room, that's gotta suck for the cats and everyone involved.
Especially if Desi has pink-eye and Otto needs suppositories. Ew!
I love how the only inaccurate thing about the DnD nerds first scene is that they're rolling the dice rather haphazardly. Jenkins throws a d20 and a d12 (I think) at the same time...different sided dice throws are not a thing. Multiples of the same kind of dice, yes, especially to calculate the damage of a hit.
And Jenkins tosses the dice AT the figures on the map/table. Yeah, no. A dice tower would probably be employed with that small a table, but I get how that would be less visually exciting/take up too much screen time.
The DnD nerds were DEFINITELY in on Jeff's switcheroo plan. We hear them talking about it when Jenkins comes down the stairs. They were totally expecting a different person inside Jeff. The way they set Jenkins up to reveal himself shows some LARPing skill in my opinion. I've LARPed, it's just costumed improve with stricter rules lol.
I'm less sure Dolores/Jeff's mother knew about the switcheroo. (I called her Gloria in one of my stories, I need to fix that.)
The Jeff buttslapping Jacob scene. And the awkward aftermath. *Chef Kiss*
Oh look, they've all got costumes. Shocked, I'm shocked. Definitely LARPers. But...why would they wear that stuff to break into the Library? How did Jenkins present this to them? "Think of it as a live dungeon crawl"? Okay, then I'mma gonna concentrate on supplies and some kind of knife, a first aid kit, a shield, maybe some rope...not a cape, a head dress, and fishnet stockings.
I would have loved to see a version of this with the actors switched--John Larroquette acting like Jeff-inside-Jenkins ("how about we...make some magic..."), Andrew Caldwell playing Jenkins-inside-Jeff ("would you please stop setting off booby traps!")
It's really sad how few lines Ezekiel has.
Personal head canon: Ezekiel did some of the stuff Jeff is doing. Only, you know, he hid it better and was a bit cooler about it. We've seen Ezekiel use Munchausen's Top, the Spinning Wheel of Clothos, and have the attitude that 'rubbing up against anything magicky' can be a solution to rescuing Eve and Flynn in that one movie episode so yes. This carefree attitude towards power is why Jenkins worries about him.
The "gimme that boom" scene. C'mon Jenkins get more into it lol.
The Library teaching Jenkins about the best aspects of himself through the analogs of the new librarians. Cleverness from Schmidt/Ezekiel, Joy from Aurora/Cassandra, Persistence from Dennis/Jacob.
The knighting. Beautiful. Also getting the innocents out of the way before something truly dangerous?
"You think that was bad?! Wait 'til I get hold of you!!"
The little speech Jenkins gives to Jeff "what's the point of having a life if one does not live it fully," was so incredibly pertinent and needed when I was in a low place that I named my long-form fic after it. I should get back to writing that.
Jenkins' potion needs a jolt of magic to make it work. Noted!
"Bye Mom!"
What the heck were Dolores and Asmodeus doing while Jenkins and Jeff were scuttling down the stairs and making their way to the basement? Damn, I hope she locked herself in a bathroom or something.
The lightsaber in Jenkins' hands wasn't cut to shreds right away. More Galahad magic?
Ringpop FTW
How did they not see each other had changed? so weird.
Back at the Library--the carnage of Jeff is hilarious.
Eve's kiss (instead of Cassie) on Jenkins came out of left field but okay.
Awesome ending. If Jenkins cares for you, he spends time with you.
Beauty.
So many ideas for my fic came out of this episode.

I finished “The Librarians”, y’all. What do I do now? 😱
Maybe it’s time for a “Leverage” rewatch. That show is perfection.
A few thoughts first:
1. I weirdly enjoyed the shorter seasons. I felt like the show was more focused.
2. Jenkins. I just adored him. It is by far my favorite role with John Larroquette. The scene where he’s a D&D Dungeon Master was a thing of beauty.
3. I love Eve’s maternal vibes.
4. Love love loved Ezekiel’s character development. The looper episode broke me.
5. The ships, but also… not? I totally ship Jacob and Cassandra, but also Jenkins and Cassandra, and yet… I really liked how they just… were. I love a good platonic relationship just as much.
6. Judson and Charlene.
7. The series finale. I don’t know if they knew the show was ending or not, but this was one of the best series finales I have ever seen. Just beautiful.
I told my husband this show gave me “SeaQuest” vibes: a great cast of characters, episodes that almost always ended on a happy note, and just a feel good vibe when I watched it. A great comfort show. I adore “Leverage”, too, so it was meant to be.
If you haven’t seen “The Librarians” it is currently streaming on Freevee. I will definitely be purchasing this one.

Her First Shirt
First Sergeants, better known as (First) Shirts, are in a unit for the morale and welfare of the soldiers they've been appointed over. After a mission, Eve sees that this role is exactly what Jenkins fills on her team.

I made another thing
7.02.24 - Costumes - TinyRavenFeathers - The Librarians (TV 2014) [Archive of Our Own]
@jenksel @tran-shar
I keep writing about that And the Image of Image episode, I can't help it, it has everything. Jenkins to the rescue, a drunken Cassie, Jake at his best, a sneaky Ezekiel. It's just beautiful.

My money's on some ancient miracle worker that just likes to swim.
The throwaway lines in this show are remarkable.
Ezekiel: Do we have any holy water?
Jenkins: Yes, the swimming pool is blessed regularly.
By who!?!? Who does the blessing of the swimming pool? Is there an artifact for holy water? Is Galahad Catholic? I have so many questions!

July 4 - Why did she have to knock on the door now?
I could hear @jenksel and @tran-shar celebrating while I wrote this a couple days back. Writing spicy scenes still makes me blush. = = = = =
He opens the door. "Hey."
"Hi." She steps inside, drops her bags out of the way, and nearly leaps into his embrace. The door swings shut.
They hold each other silently, their bodies finding a new balance in closeness and warmth. It's such a contrast from the stark loneliness of the last two weeks that he kisses her forehead a little shyly. She nuzzles him lightly, it's adorable how every touch between them starts out soft, tentative. He squeezes her a little tighter. The scent of her shampoo pulls at his heart.
"Gods, I've missed you," he admits after a while.
"Mmph. Economy class is not kind," she replies, "But I can't make myself pay more money just for comfort."
He gently starts to steer her over to his couch, a comfortable blue behemoth with plenty of room for them both. She pulls away for a second, shrugs out of her coat and hangs it neatly, revealing a white button-down shirt and grey pleated skirt. He takes the opportunity to situate himself to one side of the couch, readying a place for her. She grins at his wordless invitation, kicks off her shoes before eagerly encircling her arms around his shoulders and fitting herself to his side.
"Rough trip?" he asks as his hands wander down her back, stroking softly.
"So glad to be with you," she smiles at him, "So glad to be home." He brushes his lips against her forehead again for that, sweetly. She raises her head and draws him into an intense kiss.
It's the same every time they connect. Relief travels through his body, he drinks down the quiet passion she offers him. There's no rush as her fingers comb through his hair and across the back of his neck like a blessing. He slips his hands under her loose shirt, resting them on the soft skin of her waist. What is it about this simple intimacy that makes him shiver so?
He can feel her hunger for him in her kisses, it's still amazing, still astonishingly wonderful that she's not only welcoming his advances but pressing back against him, challenging and insistent. Delightful creature. Her mouth opens under his and he loses control, just a little, no longer simply kissing but devouring her, pressing her to him now, her softness brushing the hard warmth of his base desire. His need only builds with every press and breath, every little delicious noise she makes as she pushes against him and crawls into his lap, straddling him.
Then she starts undoing his fly. He pauses (why, why is he still so shy about this?); she seems to sense his hesitation. She stops and smiles in such a comforting way that it calms his heart. Then she wrecks that peace completely when she guides his hands to her bare thighs and asks "Could you do me a favor, darling?"
"Anything." Gods, he'd set himself on fire if she asked right now.
"Grab my bottom," she requests sweetly.
Yes and yes. His hands slide up under her skirt and find not only a distinct lack of any sort of cloth but also an abundance of delectable softness. His mouth goes a little dry as she pulls his erection free from his pants and gives him a wicked smirk.
"Hmm," she muses in mock seriousness as she plays at examining him, "I dare say you've missed me, love."
Oh yes, he wants to say, but he's at a loss for words. Instead, he nods enthusiastically and kneads her ample bottom.
She leans closer and strokes his length, pulling a low groan from him. How did he not notice her shirt's half open, providing an opportunity to nuzzle her chest? He pulls her closer to taste her skin, her hand guides him under her skirt, oh yes...
There's the sound of heavy footsteps in flight that come to a skidding halt out in the hallway. Eve's voice suddenly rings out. "Jenkins!" Thudthudthudthudthudthud...
The lovers both freeze.
"Jenkins! we need you!" the Guardian calls in an especially piercing tone as she assaults the entryway to his quarters.
They both groan. He lets his head fall back, she drops her head to his shoulder with a small snort of resignation.
"Why," Jenkins mutters darkly to the ceiling, "why did she have to knock on the door now?"
His lover laughs.
