I read someone ask what the hell gisele did before Victoria’s Secret and they said she was just a VS model to them. 😭🤣

Well she didn’t sign her Victoria Secret contract until 2000.

Here’s a little of what she accomplished pre VS:

-in 1998 she worked for all the big Vogues in editorials,walked for every major fashion designer and had ad campaigns for Versace,Chloe,Ferre,Missoni,Ralph Lauren and Valentino. She was highly in demand. The new “it” girl in fashion. She had covers for British Vogue,Vogue Brazil,i-D,Allure,ELLe,Marie Claire,Cosmo,Arena magazines. She worked with the biggest photographers; Helmut Newton,Steven Meisel,David Sims,Patrick Demarchelier,Mario Testino,Michel Comte,Ellen von Unwerth,Michael Thompson.

-1999 she was so big in fashion, she won Vogue model of the year award at age 19 beating out other heavy contenders at the time Carmen kass,Angela Lindvall,Maggie Rizer and Frankie Rayder. Given to her by Anna Wintour…She went onto be put on the cover of American Vogue with the headline “return of the sexy model”. She was the poster child for the anti waif models. She was in ad campaigns for Celine,Dolce & Gabbana,Versace,Valentino. She went onto have 3 American Vogue covers all in one year at only age 19. When celebs were beginning to saturate the covers…covers for W magazine 3 times,ELLe,Vogue Brazil,Vogue UK,Vogue Paris,Vogue Italy, (the big 4 Vogues accomplished at age 19). Numero Magazine,Harper’s Bazaar. Continuing to work with all the photography giants.

#Repost @thefashionchronicler • • • • • • A friend of the artists of the Roaring Twenties, such as the poet Max Jacob and Jean Cocteau, he opened an art gallery in 1928 where he exhibited works by Salvador Dalí, Picasso and Jean Cocteau. But his parents were ruined by the stock market crisis of 1929 and he had to close his gallery. In 1935, he sold his first sketches of hats and dresses to some of the great couturiers such as Nina Ricci, Balenciaga and Claude Saint-Cyr. Before his debut in fashion, he also worked as an illustrator for Le figaro Illustré and created costumes for the cinema and the theatre. Detail with importance, Christian Dior’s sister, Catherine, was deported by the Nazis in Ravensbrück, for being a resistant. When she was lucky enough to survive, Christian Dior found the courage to spread his wings. In 1946, he left Lucien Lelong to found his own fashion house at 30 avenue Montaigne in Paris. Marcel Boussac, the king of cotton, invested 60 million francs in this enterprise. The couturier who considered perfume "the finishing touch to a dress" founded a perfume company at the same time as his fashion house: His first fragrance was the famous "Miss Dior" Perfume. In 1947, the first Dior collection was a revolution in post-war fashion. The designer invented the New Look style with radically avant-garde creations. He imagined a new feminine silhouette with rounded shoulders and a cinched waist, with a full, corolla-shaped skirt 20 centimeters off the ground. Mr Dior passed away in 1957, of what we call today a « burn out ».
