Comic Book Fan? New York Film Academy Graduate Works With Jason Flemyng on New Project

New York Film Academy graduate Elvire Duvelle-Charles served as Casting Director and Assistant to the Producer for new internet release, "Welcome to Hoxford," a fan film based on Ben Templesmith's comic book, starring Jason Flemyng (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, X-Men, Snatch). The cast also features Arben Bajraktaraj (Harry Potter, Taken) and Dexter Fletcher (Kick-Ass, Stardust, The Elephant Man). Elvire, who studied in 2007 for a year in the Filmmaking Department in NYFA New York followed by a second year in the NYFA Producing Department, comments that much of the film's success was due to the team behind it. "Putting the film together was a crazy challenge! We had very little money...We had to convince one by one talented and experienced people to work with us for free for a movie that would obviously not make any money...we ended up with 5 minutes of credits with hundreds of people!"

The outstanding production team led by director Julien Mokrani included make-up artist Jean-Christophe Spadaccini (Amelie, The Bourne Identity, A Very Long Engagement) and Thierry Arbogast as Director of Photography, who previously won Best Cinematography awards for films including The Fifth Element and Bon Voyage and won the Technical Grand Prize at Cannes Film Festival for She's So Lovely. Elvire comments that her time working on the shoot was aided by her experiences at NYFA: "I did both the filmmaking and the producing program at NYFA and in the end they helped me a lot for the project (not to say for ALL my projects since I graduated). The filmmaking program helped me be aware of the technical needs on one side and knowing how to react as wisely as possible when we faced technical issues. It also helped me a lot understanding precisely the expectations of Julien Mokrani for the casting which was a very long and different process. On the other had, the producing program helped me a LOT in being able to present things in an attractive way in order to convince both technicians and actors to work for free!"

Though the film was shot in September 2010, post-production took almost a year and the film has been released online for the first time. Fans can view the project in full by clicking here. In eleven days, it has already generated over 71 thousand views! So what's next for this NYFA Grad? Elvire is now working for France's #1 TV Channel TF1 as an assistant on new show "Après le 20h c'est Canteloup." She adds, "I'm hoping to work very soon on Director Julien Mokrani's next project!"
