My thoughts on Mumbai Police!
First of all, Prithviraj looked so hot as a cop. The uniform, moustache and smile, I am so in love with his look in the film.
Secondly, Prithviraj is so daring. He played a gay cop back in 2013. Some actors are not comfortable playing gay characters even today. This was not just a subtle hint and suggestion, here and there. There was actually a scene showing their relationship. I am so proud of being obsessed with this guy right now.
Though I felt the movie was dragging at places, but the final twist made up for everything. And what a twist it was? The film started with Antony searching for himself after memory loss. But he was literally searching for himself, the culprit.
The whole motive behind the murder was quite logical. The movie was made in 2013 and homosexuality got decriminalised only in 2018. So, he wasn't just facing a loss of reputation or employment, but possible arrest and prison time. He already was a hated cop with many enemies who wanted to destroy him. So, his intentions and desperate actions did make sense, even if they were morally wrong.
I have very mixed feelings about Antony Moses A or Rascal Moses. His actions really put me off but I can't deny he was hot. The swag, the mischievous smile, contemptible behavior for almost everyone except his friends, sister, and partner made him a complex character.
But Antony Moses B, has my heart. He was so vulnerable, especially when he found out about his closeted homosexuality. His anxiousness to get back his memory and life, his trying to manage the investigation without his memory, his occasional fumbles, everything was so heartrending.
Prithviraj played these two parts so differently. Their expressions, emotions and body language are all different. As the doctor said, they were not the same person, but two different personalities with similar skill sets. Prithvi really made me believe I was watching two separate personalities and not just a single character.
Other actors were also very convincing in their roles, especially Rahman. As Antony said Farhan was really smart. He knew Antony was the culprit and he was protecting himself. Hence, he made him bring back the investigation to proper track and finally got his 'who, how and why'.
Jayasurya was also good as Aaryan the idiotic, but endearing friend. Even though I find his behaviour of sitting in darkness while his friend was with his partner, quite creepy. His saying those mean words for his friend was so not done. Even if we excuse the behaviour as him being shocked and angry, he could have apologized instantly, instead of thinking of a grand gesture of dedicating the Gallantry Award. It could have saved his life. Sooner the apology, sooner the situation could be remedied. That's the basic rule.
Overall, I enjoyed the movie and loved the twist, the concept and the acting. I would definitely re-watch it.

Actor Jayasurya sticks to views on Kerala farmers' plight; draws criticism from Left social media handles
In his speech, the actor pointed out that a section of farmers went on a hunger strike on Uthradam Day to protest the non-payment of dues for procuring the paddy.
KOCHI: Actor Jayasurya stood his ground on the government’s inept handling of farmers’ welfare and said on Thursday that he raised the issue to highlight the plight of paddy farmers.
Jayasurya attracted trolls and critical comments from Left-backed social media handles after he spoke about the non-payment of dues to the paddy farmers. He also added that the youngsters are not choosing farming as a vocation due to the government’s failure to ensure proper payments to farmers at the concluding session of ‘Krishikoppam Kalamassery’, an initiative to promote agriculture in his constituency by Minister P Rajeeve, on Monday.
The actor spoke after the speech by Agriculture Minister P Prasad, who said that the new generation was not taking up agriculture because they “do not want their dress to be dirtied”. In his speech, the actor pointed out that a section of farmers went on a hunger strike on Uthradam Day to protest the non-payment of dues for procuring the paddy.
Jayasurya had also criticised Minister Prasad for his statement on the new generation being uninvolved in agriculture. “The agriculture minister said that the new generation doesn’t like getting their clothes dirty. It is not dirt that stops them from farming. They are seeing their parents fasting on Thiruvonam. How will they be interested in farming then?” asked the actor.
Jayasurya cited the example of his friend and actor Krishnachand from Kumarakom, who he said took up the protest on behalf of the farmers after the SupplyCo failed to pay him and other farmers the amount for the paddy they sold in the last five or six months.
Jayasurya said he had no allegiance to any political party and that he was bringing up the farmers’ issue just to highlight their plight at a public forum. Speaking to a TV channel on Thursday, the actor said he stood by what he said and refused to comment further.
However, the actor found support from various quarters, including the opposition parties. Congress leader and MP K Muraleedharan said Jayasurya raised relevant and pressing issues faced by the farmers in Kerala. “Jayasurya has no political affiliations, and the issues faced by the farmers should be addressed by the government immediately,” the Congress leader told reporters.
After Jayasurya’s speech went viral on social media, Agriculture Minister Prasad came out with a detailed explanation of the concessions and sops given by the state government to support the paddy farmers. “Unlike the actor, whose concern for the farmers is ‘seasonal’, the social workers and politicians are always working towards the welfare of farmers,” he told a TV channel on Thursday.
Speaking during the campaign for LDF candidate Jaick C Thomas at Puthupally on Wednesday, Prasad said Jayasurya’s statement was factually wrong. “Paddy farmers are paid Rs 28/kg. While the central government is required to pay Rs 20.50/kg, the state government adds another Rs 7.50/kg as it knows that the central government’s payment is not sufficient. However, there is a delay in the payment by the central government. And many banks did not cooperate to provide the funds for distribution to the paddy farmers. Even then, we distributed Rs 7.50 among the farmers in this Onam season. We have also communicated with the bank consortium,” said the minister.
Prasad further added that Kerala is the only state that pays the farmers. “The seeds are given free of charge; electricity is provided free of charge; and the farmers receive many other benefits,” he added.
Jayasurya also said that the state does not have any quality-checking mechanisms and urged the government to set up a basic quality-checking system. “The vegetables that we consume contain huge amounts of pesticides. We lack an effective quality-checking system. Here, anything may be sold. We end up eating second or third-rate products as a result of this. The government-announced projects are something we are proud of. But first, we want a basic system for quality assurance,” he added.
The actor also shared his experience visiting a rice mill in Palakkad and how the high-quality products were being exported to overseas countries.

Mollywood Actor-Politician Mukesh Accused of Rape by Actress Minu Muneer Amid #MeToo Scandal
In a significant development in Kerala's entertainment and political circles, veteran actor and politician Mukesh M has been accused of rape by actress Minu Muneer. The allegation, which is part of a broader #MeToo movement in the Malayalam film industry, has sent shockwaves through both the film fraternity and the political landscape of Kerala.
Minu Muneer, who is also known by her screen name Minu Kurian, filed a formal complaint with the Kerala Police, accusing Mukesh of sexually assaulting her in 2013. According to her statement, the incident took place in a Kochi hotel where Mukesh allegedly entered her room under the pretext of discussing movie roles and raped her. The actress also detailed this incident in a social media post, where she accused not only Mukesh but also other prominent figures in the Malayalam film industry, including Jayasurya, Maniyanpilla Raju, and Idavela Babu, of physical and verbal abuse during the same period.
The allegations against Mukesh have intensified the scrutiny on the Malayalam film industry, which has been under the spotlight since the release of the Hema Committee report. The report, commissioned by the Kerala government, highlighted the pervasive sexual harassment in the industry and has led to more women coming forward with their stories of abuse. Minu Muneer’s case is seen as a critical moment in the ongoing struggle for accountability in the industry.
Mukesh, a two-time legislator from the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and a popular figure in Mollywood, has denied the allegations. Through his legal team, he has dismissed the claims as "fabricated" and "politically motivated," suggesting that they are part of a broader conspiracy to tarnish his reputation. However, the accusations have placed immense pressure on both Mukesh and the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) government, with opposition parties demanding his resignation and a thorough investigation.
The Kerala Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. The charges against Mukesh include sections of the Indian Penal Code related to rape, criminal trespass, and outraging a woman's modesty. The investigation is expected to be comprehensive, involving the examination of evidence and testimonies from multiple sources.
This case has significant implications not only for Mukesh’s political career but also for the Malayalam film industry, which is grappling with the revelations of widespread abuse. Minu Muneer’s decision to come forward has been hailed as a courageous step, contributing to the larger #MeToo movement in India that seeks justice for survivors of sexual harassment and assault. Kerala agriculture minister counters actor Jayasurya’s statement on paddy farmers’ plight
On Monday, actor Jayasurya blamed the state government for not paying the procurement amount to paddy farmers and said it was not surprising that the new generation is not entering the sector.
KOCHI: Agriculture Minister P Prasad on Wednesday came out in defence of the LDF government and his department after actor Jayasurya’s critical speech on the plight of the paddy farmers in the state went viral on Monday. Prasad, during the election campaign of LDF candidate Jaick C Thomas in Puthuppally on Wednesday, said the actor’s statements were factually wrong.
“Farmers are paid Rs 28 per kg of paddy. Of this, the Centre pays Rs 20.50 and the state adds another Rs 7.50 as it knows that the Union government’s aid will not be sufficient. However, the Centre has delayed their share of payment. Even banks backed off from cooperating with the state to provide the procurement amount to paddy farmers. Even then, we distributed our share of Rs 7.50 per kg among the farmers this Onam season. We have also communicated with the bank consortium to release the due amount,” said the minister. Prasad said that Kerala is the only state that pays its farmers. “Seeds and electricity are provided to them free of charge. The farmers receive many other benefits, too,” he said.
Speaking at the concluding session of ‘Krishikkoppam Kalamassery’, an initiative to promote agriculture in his constituency by Minister P Rajeeve, on Monday, Jayasurya blamed the state government for not paying the procurement amount to paddy farmers and said it was not surprising that the new generation is not entering the sector. Both Rajeeve and Prasad were present on the stage when Jayasurya, the chief guest at the function, made the criticism. Jayasurya also came out against Prasad for his statement on more youths being uninvolved in agriculture.
“The agriculture minister said that the new generation doesn’t like getting their clothes dirty. It is not dirt that stops them from farming. They see their parents fasting on Thiruvonam day. How will they then be interested in the field?” he asked. Jayasurya also urged the ministers to set up a basic quality-checking system in the state.
“The vegetables that we consume contain huge amounts of pesticides. We lack an effective quality-checking system. Hence, we end up eating second or third-class products,” he said. The actor also cited the example of his friend Krishnaprasad from Kumarakom, who, he said, went on a hunger strike on Onam day because the SupplyCo failed to pay him the amount for the paddy he sold for the last five or six months.

hey did you see the trailer and song for aditi's new movie sufiyum sujatayum? it's great!
I haven’t seen it yet but it’s nice they are releasing it digital first. A good first step for Malayalam cinema.
I’m not particularly interested in either of them as actors. Especially when there’s so many interesting Malayali actresses in the industry, are Malayalis really checking for Aditi Rao Hydari idk.
And, Jayasurya has done a great job of fence-sitting in regards to the treatment of female artists and he sidelined Nyla Usha from the Punyalan Agarbattis sequel so I’m not going out of my way to see his pretentious work.
ETA: Just heard the song. It is very cute!
