Stupid, generic and extremely of its time, but, y'know. Not the worst.

Oh boy time for my first ever actual tumblr post:

1.I Been Young - George Clanton. THE sound of the summer; somehow both hypnotically psychedelic and warm as a day on the beach. Listen on a long walk outdoors.

2. Luau - Drive Like Jehu. What happens when an entire band just really, really, really wants to hurt their guitar strings. Some of the most mind-bending and vicious guitar work I've ever heard. RIP Rick Froberg, the only white dude who could have made a song about native Hawaiians killing imperialist Americans fucking rule.

3. All My Little Words - The Magnetic Fields. The best songs on 69 Love Songs are achingly saccharine to the point where you can't quite tell if they're earnest or not, but they're so damn cute and well composed that you stop caring quickly. Randomly rhymes China and North Carolina in the best way possible.

4. Sexy Dance - Masayoshi Takanaka. City Pop and Jazz was a match made in heaven. Never has the electric guitar sounded so upbeat. Surprisingly bad for doing sexy dances but the LGBTQ+ community forgives you, Takanaka.

5. Exhibit C - Jay Electronica. One of THE most hype hip-hop songs ever. Pure, unfiltered confidence on display, both from Jay's bars/delivery and Just Blaze's genuinely epic-sounding beat. Listen at the gym and you absolutely will break at least one lifting record.

Honorable Mentions: Kafe Mania! - Deerhoof, Respect Commander - Jack White, My Flowers - Tkay Maidza, Halleluwuh - Can, Big Black Mariah - Tom Waits.

Jay Froberg co-founded ROAR, a Beverly Hills-based entertainment consulting and investment firm headquartered in Beverly Hills, California. Prior to ROAR, he worked for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer where he negotiated a myriad of significant deals on behalf of MGM - and earned the distinction of becoming the youngest Vice President in MGM Studios' history. He holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Arizona as well as an MBA and a JD from Pepperdine University. He is a member of the State Bar of California. He met Craig and Aaron via his & ROAR's support of the Tim and Tom Gullikson Foundation,the group teamed up to co-found the Grips Program. Jay Froberg is basically a Founder and Partner of ROAR, a production, and talent management company. He is also a former Vice President of MGM ;a production and talent management company based at MGM Studios.
