Musician And Actor Jackson Odell Dead At 20

Musician and actor Jackson Odell died on Friday in Tarzana, California. He was 20.

Odell was in show business from the young age of 12, and had appeared in episodes of Freeform’s “The Fosters,” ABC’s “Modern Family” and Nickelodeon’s “iCarly,”. He also played the character Zeke in the 2011 movie “Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer,” according to IMDB.

Odell, who played Ari Caldwell on the hit comedy “The Goldbergs,” died at a “sober living facility,” the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office said. No other information was available on Sunday, pending “additional investigation.”

Odell’s family acknowledged his death Sunday afternoon in a post on Twitter:

As a musician, Odell wrote music for the films “Forever My Girl” and “Great Plains.”

LOS ANGELES. Bekannt war Schauspieler Jackson Odell aus US-Serien wie „Modern Family“ und „iCarly“.

Wie US-Medien berichten, wurde der 20-Jährige am Freitag tot in seinem Haus in San Fernando Valley bei Los Angeles gefunden. Die Todesursache steht bisher noch nicht fest, die Polizei schließt Fremdverschulden aus. Jackson Odell lebte in einem sogenannten „Sober living house“, einer betreuten Unterkunft für Menschen mit Alkohol- und Drogenproblemen.

Odell begann im Alter von zwölf Jahren mit der Schauspielerei, war in Gastrollen in „iCarly“ und „Modern Family“ zu sehen. Er war auch als Sänger und Songwriter tätig. Zuletzt schrieb er mehrere Lieder für den Soundtrack des Musicalfilms "Forever My Girl“. 

Die Familie des TV-Stars schrieb in einem offiziellen Statement: „Die Odell-Familie hat ihren geliebten Sohn und Bruder, Jackson Odell verloren. Er wird immer ein strahlendes Licht und eine brillante, liebevolle und talentierte Seele sein. Er hatte so viel mehr zu teilen. Unsere Familie wird diese Wahrheit immer weitertragen. Unser Wunsch ist, dass der Rest der Welt, der ihn kannte und liebte, das genauso tut. Wir werden nun im Privaten versuchen diesem unermesslichen Verlust einen Sinn zu geben.“

'Goldbergs' Star Jackson Odell Dead at 20

'Actor and singer-songwriter Jackson Odell has died, ET can confirm.

Odell is perhaps best known for playing Ari Caldwell on The Goldbergs. He was 20 years old.

According to Los Angeles County Coroner's Office records, Odell died on Friday at a sober living facility.  A public information officer also tells ET that Odell was found unresponsive, and that the cause of death has not been determined and is pending autopsy.

According to TMZ, who was first to report the news, there were no signs of foul play.

Odell's family released a statement on Twitter on Sunday.

"The Odell family has lost our beloved son and brother, Jackson Odell, on Friday," the statement reads. "He will always be a shining light and a brilliant, loving and talented soul. He had so much more to share. Our family will always carry that truth forward. Our wish is that the rest of the world who knew him does as well. We are now going to try to make sense of our immeasurable loss privately. We will not be making any more statements."

Aside from his role on The Goldbergs, Odell also has guest roles on iCarly, Modern Family and Arrested Development. He also appeared in the 2011 movie Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer.
