A LOOK BACK at Aoki & Ida

KIETA HATSUKOI (2021, JAPAN)

Remember how a simple mistake turned into quite the MY LOVE MIX UP for two good guys Aoki (SHUNSUKE MICHIEDA) and Ida (REN MEGURO)

You see Aoki had a crush on pretty girl Hashimoto. A secret crush. When she lent him an eraser he discovered she had a crush on fellow classmate Ida.

As she had written his name with a heart on that eraser. When Aoki accidentally dropped the eraser and Ida picked it up to return it.

Seeing his name with a heart, Ida mistakenly thinks Aoki has a crush on him. Not wanting to reveal Hashimoto's crush Aoki claims the eraser as his own. Several mistakes lead the two to develop real feelings for one another.

Only as Aoki begins to really like Ida, he confesses his crush on Ida to Hashimoto since he believes she likes Ida too.

But Hashimoto doesn't like Ida, she likes Aoki's Best Friend Aida. The A wore out with use of the eraser. Now Aoki has fallen...for Prince Charming Ida.

My Honest Opinion:

If story telling was art, then Japanese BLs would be freaking Picasso. Like seriously, they take the realest of scenarios and portray it in such a way that by the end of the series, you have no choice but to be absolutely enchanted. And if it's a happy ending then it's a cherry on top. Needless to say that this series is indeed captivating.

1) Kota's character is really cute and the actor did full justice to him. The fact that he constantly keeps calling himself unlucky, yet manages to bag the hottest and luckiest guy in the campus, clearly shows that his bad luck isn't that bad afterall.

2) Next, let's meet Naoya, the luckiest guy. People often try to take advantage of him since he bears good luck. Guess, you can't always be lucky.

3) This series not only portrays a heart-touching rom-com, but also gives us an important life lesson. We can't always be lucky and the reverse is true as well. We can't always be unlucky either. So, it's best to just accept life as it is and be happy with what you have instead of crying over what you don't.
