Tag Game Time!
Thank you @seleneisrising
None of these are out of the WIP folder, and with midterms coming up, probably won't escape literary purgatory anytime soon.
Three Mandos and A Baby: As the plasma bolt streaked toward her damaged fighter, Bo-Katan could only feel relief.
Common Sense Is For Fools: “So,” Amis drawled, looking very much like the loth-cat who caught the convor, “You’ll never guess what Fulcrum dragged in.”
Mavir Vencuyot, Mavir Ruyot (Free the Future, Free the Past): Mandalore was burning. Fires bathed the streets of the domed city of Keldabe, washing the devastation in an orange glow. Corpses littered the roads, thousands of people cut down in a single hour, and judging by the screams thousands more would soon join them.
To Boldly Rebel: If you had told Captain Katherine Janeway of the Federation Starship Voyager when she left space dock that she'd suffer a mass casualty event, recruit the Maquis crew she was sent to arrest, and also initiate contact with extragalactic lifeforms, she probably would have used you as an example of just why she needed a ship's councilor, assignment length be damned.
With the first link, the chain is forged: Obi-Wan stepped onto the bridge of the Resolute with a rather large grin upon his face. "At ease, gentlebeings."
I'm not going to tag anyone cause tagging people scares me

I got tagged by @aflawedfashion - thank you!
Anyone who wants to do this too can feel tagged - I would love to learn more about any of my mutuals!
Here we go:
Four ships:
Bering and Wells - my forever OTP. Look, I am not a fandom-socialized person. I didn't know about ships and OTPs and all of that. All I know is that I saw them together and I loved them. Instantly and unconditionally. I loved them in a way I'd never felt about any pairing on screen or page before, or since. So when I go on in this list, the distance between them and the next entry is basically astronomical.
Kathryn Janeway and Beverly Crusher, and it's all @ussjellyfish 's fault (affectionate).
Jadzia Dax and Lenara Kahn. "Rejoined" broke my heart, and I want them together. Rabidly want them together.
Jadzia Dax and Kira Nerys. They were a surprise ship, but I'm glad I found them! I even wrote a little fic for them!
(edited to add: bad reading comprehension here, whoops! Anywho, have this fifth of four anyway:) Deanna Troi and Will Riker. Long before I knew what shipping was, I adored their story, both in the show and in the novels ("Imzadi" is so good, in so many ways). They are my go-to het ship; I'm 💯 sure they're open to all kinds of polyamory and fun sexytimes and shenanigans with all consenting interested parties, and they just support and love each other in the best, maturest way possible. They're also my go-to for "we weren't right for each other then, but we're right for each other now", which is a criminally underused trope! (See also Pete and Amanda from W13.)
First ever ship: as explained above, Bering and Wells or Troi/Riker, depending on your definition.
Last song: listen. I'm incredibly, impossibly impressionable. You even just so much as mention a song that I know, and hey presto, it's in my ears. Earlier this morning it was the Cat Bus Song from Totoro. Right now, due to a post on my dash, it's Carol of the Bells. In five minutes' time, it might be anything.
Last film: watched The Eternals on Friday. Was thoroughly unimpressed. A few good ideas, and some good acting (and I love love love that we got a female Asian lead), but yeah nah, that didn't hit the spot for me. Can't wait to see the new Death on the Nile though!
Currently reading: novels? I can't. Like, seriously, I'm burned out for reading stories that don't have characters that I know. So at the moment, fan fic. Since the last two years, really. Like, I got Priory of the Orange Tree lying right there, but I can't. I finished Gideon the Ninth and hated it. (I know many people love it and that's fine with me, but I. Just. Couldn't.) So, I'm making my way through the Sanvers Big Bang fics, and through other fics I'm randomly finding, and that's it. Loved Roadie's Mermaid fic.
Currently watching: I'm slowly making my way through Xena. Never really watched it in any consecutive or deliberate fashion, and am doing so now. I'm at the beginning of season 2.
Currently consuming: uh... like in food? Delivery Kung Pao (my beloved). We live in the 'burbs, and it's damn hard to find good delivery food here, but there's one place that has both good sushi and good other Asian dishes. They're one town over, though, so you need to order a lot with them to make the minimum amount they drive out for. So my wife and I often order sushi for that night, and then a non-sushi meal to eat the next day. And 9 times out of 10, it's kung pao for me and fried rice for the wife. And so when my wife was out (friend's b-day party) on Friday, I got that exact delivery for myself (including her fried rice for Saturday). And I still got some kung pao left! So that's what I'll have once I'm done with this post! 😁
Currently craving: well. Guess. 😂
So, I said anyone can feel free to do this - that's also because I'm always nerve that when I do mention someone specifically here, other mutuals will feel left out. But I'm really curious about what @magicmumu2 would say to these questions, and @strangesmallbard, and @galactic-pirates . So if you guys wanna do this, go ahead, if not, no worries!

13) Hardest character to write?
Highly emotional, dependent characters because it’s really hard for me to get into that ind of headspace and understand their decisions and reasonings. It just doesn’t make any sense to me. I’m a fairly logical person, so most of my actions aren’t emotionally based.
That and naively stupid characters who refuse to learn from their mistakes and want everything to stay how it is. Sansa Stark in the first few books. Reading her perspective gave me a headache and there’s no way I could write someone like that.
18) Favorite pairing to write?
The reserved jackass and their friendly but fiercely protective partner, literally any version of this pairing. Speirs and Roe (BOB), Brad and Ray (GK), Hoosier and Leckie (TP), Selene and Michael (Underworld), Seven and Janeway (ST:V), plus hundreds of others from other shows. From my own original works, I’ll admit I use this trope a lot. Zlata and Ben, Valensiya and Carissa, Idonia and Diarmaid, naming a few.
23) Least favorite story you’ve ever written
We don’t talk about the orange folder, Nova.
40) Which one of your stories would you most like to see as a movie/series?
Nothing Personal, Just Business, a 1950s hardboiled/noir novel about the forbidden romance between soulmates Zlata Ilynishina, the Pakhan of the Lunavskaya Bratva in Massachusetts, and Benjamin James, an ex-marine from WW2 and the FBI agent in charge of bringing her in. Zlata is enjoying her new game of cat-and-mouse, but it is becoming a distraction as she deals with the Cosa Nostra attempting to infringe on her drug trade. Benjamin is trying as hard as he can to fight against what he feels, the woman who is worming her way into his heart is a living demon, but she brings out the worst in him; a part of him he hasn’t seen since the war, and he hates that he loves it.
Message me if you’re curious and I can go on for days about this story for you
46) Share a scene of a story that you haven’t published yet.
Whoops, this long. But, here’s an early scene from Nothing Personal
McCarthy kept his bar clean. That's what Chief Williams had told him on their walk to the Red Stag, the most popular Irish pub in town, owned by one Domhall McCarthaigh, better known as Donovan "Dono" McCarthy. Coming from Williams, Ben knew that "clean" could mean two very different things; either the bar was actually well-taken care of or McCarthy was careful to keep his legitimate business separate from the arms trade Williams explained he was suspected of. Searched four times, he said, but they could never find anything substantial enough to bring him in.
Upon entering, it became clear he had specifically meant the latter. It wasn't that the establishment was in disrepair. Far from it, in fact. The tables looked sturdy and the wall of alcohol behind the bar was fully stocked and in immaculate order. In general, however, the bar seemed to exist in a state of organized chaos. Peanut shells littered the floor, broken bottles had been swept to the side to be removed later, and the crowd itself was a mix of drunk and half-drunk, all talking and shouting and otherwise generating a dull roar only bolstered by the man at the piano, caterwauling an off-key rendition of a Billie Holiday song he couldn't remember the name of.
The atmosphere was so familiar Ben couldn't help but smile a little and almost expected Romeo or Jax to step out of the crowd to hand him a beer even though he knew they'd both been stationed in China after the surrender. He looked over, but the piano man looked nothing like Giggles, and just like that his bubble popped and his memories faded back into the faint sensation of nostalgia and the constant emptiness in his gut that reminded him the war was over and the world was moving on. Possibly without him. He sighed and followed the Chief to an empty table away from the crowd. After pushing through the large mass of people, they were able to sit down where they could hear themselves think, although conversation would be a reach.
It didn't do much, but he stripped off his jacket to try to counter the heat generated by all the alcohol flushed bodies in the crowded room.
"Drink?" the Chief offered, but he shook his head, muttering a half-excuse about cutting back that wasn't even audible over the crowd in the end. The Chief caught the gist of it though and flagged down the bartender with a motion for one drink. Obviously, Williams was a regular, because he tipped his flat cap in acknowledgment and began to pour a whiskey on the rocks. "That there is Dono," Williams said over the crowd, turning back to Ben and pointing over his shoulder at the bartender. Ben gave him a once over and decided he didn't look like a bad man, and the Chief quickly confirmed his train of thought. "Great guy, real friendly type, but definitely not the man you want against you. He's a great guy really just cause I can't find anything that says he isn't. Everyone loves him and he's all smiles." Ben could see that. As Donovan was pouring the Chief's drink he was simultaneously holding what looked like a hilarious conversation with one of the patrons sitting in front of him, a ten thousand watt grin spread across his face. The door to the kitchen beside the door swung open and Donovan quickly flagged down the woman who emerged, and as soon as Ben looked at her he couldn't look away. Her hair was a bright, flaming red in the dim light of the bar, pulled back tight, and her mouth was painted a deep burgundy. She wore a dingy white apron over a long black skirt and a long sleeve, black blouse that hugged her arms and torso, and he found his gaze fixed on her waist, for some reason unknown to him. She held out the tray she was balancing and Donovan leaned across the bar to put the glass down on it, giving her a smile which she returned, although hers was much smaller. More polite and closed off.
The woman moved through the crowd with a practiced ease, and it seemed to Ben that the men parted to let her pass, but he couldn't be sure. The closer she got to their table, the tighter his chest felt, and by the time she reached them he couldn't breathe.
"Here you go, Chief," she said when she stopped at their table, setting down his drink in front of him. She had a think accent Ben couldn't distinguish over the din, but it wasn't Irish and it sounded like music to him. Suddenly he understood Jaime's moaning about missing his wife's voice. As she set down the tumbler, she gave the both of them a clear view of her delicate hand, bandaged from knuckle to wrist, and a quick tilt of his head revealed to Ben that the hand under the tray she supported had matching dressings. He frowned."What happened this time, Kat?" Williams asked, gently taking her wrist to keep her from hiding her hand. She stiffened and flinched slightly, but didn't try to pull away.
"It's nothing. Just got myself making dinner last night. Some boiling water. It was nothing serious, but the doctor says I need to wear the bandages for a few weeks just in case," she explained, waiting until the Chief released his grip to put her hand down. She gave him a strained smile before turning to Ben and giving him a friendly grin, much wider than she'd given to the Chief or to Donovan. "You must be new here. I usually know all the regulars," she said, and he smiled back. He couldn't help it. Her dark eyes gave him a once over, lingering on his hands, before settling on his gaze, and he found that her stare was somewhat unnerving, like she knew everything about him just by looking, but he didn't want her to look away.
"Benjamin James, ma'am," he said, politely, and her smile grew.
"A proper gentleman. You don't see a lot of those in New Vienna. Can I get you anything, Dollface?" she asked, but he shook his head.
"Your name, if possible?" he asked, and he saw her laugh. He couldn't hear it over the crowd.
"Yekaterina, but you can call me Kat. It was nice to meet you, котик. You just tell me if you need anything," she said, smiling again, and walked away through the crowd. Ben's eyes followed her until she disappeared into the kitchen, and then he turned back to Chief Williams to find the man smirking at him.
"What?" he asked over the crowd, and the man laughed.
"Quite the beauty, ain't she?" he asked, and Ben shrugged, trying to pretend he hadn't been staring at her in a daze. The Chief shook his head and took a sip of his drink. "She ain't worth the time, kid. That was Zlata Mikhailova. Technically she and Jeremy Mikhailov aren't married since they aren't soulmates and all that thief-in-law business, so she's really an Ilynishina, but they've been shackin' up together since they arrived in town all those years back and no one really cares about the semantics. That Jeremy kid is bad news, she's always walkin' around with bruises and bandages and such, but she won't leave. Always says he's good to her and she can handle herself, which I don't doubt. Jeremy's usually got his own marks to match, but that don't mean I like it. Shouldn't ever treat a woman like that." Obviously, the topic was a sore subject. "I'd bet my bottom dollar she didn't burn her hands with boiling water. I know for a fact that Jeremy would never let his woman lift a finger, never mind cook her own food. He's real prideful like that. Only lets her work here cause she threw a fit when he tried to make her stop." He drained the rest of his drink. "That broad is a hurricane in a bottle."

What happened to Star Trek’s small-screen stars?
We know what Shatner, Stewart and the like are up to these days, but what about those other valuable Starfleet officers that entertained us so? Where are the crew members of 'Star Trek' now?
Jonathan Frakes – Commander William Riker (TNG)
Riker finally got to be a Captain before he bowed out of the 'Star Trek' universe at the end of 'Star Trek: Nemesis' in 2002, but he swiftly swapped the captain's chair for the director's chair. Having already helmed Trek movies including 'First Contact' and 'Insurrection', Frakes was the unlikely director behind 2004's 'Thunderbirds' movie. These days he balances acting gigs with directing TV episodes on series like 'Castle', 'Falling Skies' and 'NCIS', and he can be heard voicing Star-Lord's father in the 'Guardians Of The Galaxy' TV animation.
Brent Spiner – Data (TNG)
Ironically, we all shed a tear when emotionless robot Data said goodbye to 'Star Trek' in 2005 after a few guest spots on 'Enterprise', but Spiner hasn't stopped working since. He reprised his (second) most popular role in this year's 'Independence Day' sequel, with two revelations: not only was Dr Brakish Okun gay, but he was very much not dead as the first movie suggested. He can currently be seen in 'Walking Dead' creator Robert Kirkman's new possession thriller 'Outcast', or at a 'Star Trek' convention near you.
Marina Sirtis – Counselor Deanna Troi (TNG)
Born in London's East End to Greek-born parents, Sirtis played ship's counselor Troi in 'The Next Generation' but didn't really settle into the role until they gave her a proper Starfleet uniform to cover up her cleavage. Sirtis reprised her role in an episode of 'Star Trek Voyager' in 2000 but she's stayed with 'Star Trek' in several small ways, not just on the convention circuit but also as the voice of the ship's computer in unofficial fan series 'Star Trek Continues'. Watch her, if you dare, in 2016 horror 'Little Dead Rotting Hood'.
Michael Dorn – Worf (TNG/DS9)
Michael Dorn is the most experienced 'Star Trek' actor ever, having appeared in 175 episodes of 'The Next Generation' and then a further 102 episodes when he transported to successor 'Deep Space Nine'. Six 'Star Trek' movies bring his total appearances to 281. He's not done with Star Trek, either: Dorn is currently trying to raise interest on social media for a proposed Worf spin-off called 'Star Trek: Captain Worf'. Ironically, Dorn says: “I had come up with the idea because I love [Worf] and I think he's a character that hasn't been fully developed.” Make that 281 appearances... to date.
LeVar Burton – Chief Engineer Geordi La Forge (TNG)
LeVar Burton was famous before he clocked in to the Enterprise's engine room – he brought pleasure to millions of youngsters as the host of educational show 'Reading Rainbow', and thanks to Kickstarter, he was able to do so again in 2014 after raising £3.8 million for its triumphant return. Burton currently lends his voice to Dr Greene in animated kiddy spin-off 'Transformers: Rescue Bots', and made a 2016 cameo in the remake of 'Roots', the mini-series which made him famous in 1977.
Gates McFadden - Commander Beverly Crusher
The American actress originally found fame as a choreographer working on Jim Henson productions like ‘The Dark Crystal’, ‘Labyrinth’, and ‘The Muppets Take Manhattan’ before she was cast as the chief medical officer aboard the Enterprise. She starred in all four subsequent ‘TNG’ films, but acting roles soon dried up and she now teaches acting. McFadden, now 67, still appears on the Trek convention circuit and her last movie role was in the low budget comedy ‘Make the Yuletide Gay’ in 2009.
Wil Wheaton – Ensign Wesley Crusher (TNG)
The most hated 'Star Trek' character ever has done pretty well to turn his fortunes around, settling into his role of Ambassador of Geekdom (or 'King of the Nerds', if you prefer). An early adopted of all forms of social media and tech, Wheaton has amassed an army of followers who adore his TV appearances, tabletop game tournaments and cameos on the likes of 'The Big Bang Theory', where he plays Sheldon's nemesis. Now 44, he continues to star in his own D&D web series, on series like 'Powers' and as himself on panel shows like 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?'.
Avery Brooks – Captain Benjamin Sisko (DS9)
Unlike most of his fellow 'Star Trek' actors, Avery Brooks has shown little interest in hanging onto the show's coattails since his days on the bridge ended – Brooks' last contribution to a 'Star Trek' project was a voiceover for videogame 'Star Trek: Legacy' in 2006. A keen jazz musician, Brooks lent his talents to a performance at the Springfield Symphony Hall in February 2016 to celebrate Black History Month. If you're lucky, you can catch the ex-captain at Trek conventions around the world.
Alexander Siddig – Dr Julian Bashir (DS9)
One of the more successful 'Deep Space Nine' alumni, Siddig left Julian Bashir behind to play large roles in TV shows including '24' (where he played former terrorist Hamri Al-Assad) and movies like 'Clash Of The Titans' and Wikileaks dramatisation 'The Fifth Estate' opposite Benedict Cumberbatch. He was last seen being skewered by the Sand Snakes of Dorne in season 6 of 'Game Of Thrones' and plays Ruben Oliver in excellent drama series 'Peaky Blinders'.
Nana Visitor – Colonel Kira Nerys (DS9)
As Bajoran Major turned Colonel Kira Nerys, Visitor appeared in 173 episodes of 'Deep Space Nine' before moving on to Jessica Alba serial 'Dark Angel' and various single-serving TV appearances. Super Trek nerd Seth MacFarlane cast her, and a wealth of other Trek actors, in 'Family Guy' episodes and in 2015's 'Ted 2', and she'll next appear in low-budget Trek-inspired comedy 'Unbelievable!!!!!' (yes, five exclamation marks, so you know it's going to be good). She married and later divorced co-star Siddig – the pair have a son named Django.
René Auberjonois - Odo (DS9)
The theatre actor was unrecognisable as Odo, Deep Space Nine’s head of security, thanks to a headful of deeply unsettling prosthetics but fans of ‘M*A*S*H’ (the film) will have known him as Father Mulcahy too. He directed 9 episodes of ‘DS9′ and has worked steadily as a TV actor ever since. He’s also a talented singer and voice actor having played Chef Louis in ‘The Little Mermaid’, and is the current voice of Pepé Le Pew in the ‘Looney Tunes Show’.
Colm Meaney – Chief Miles O'Brien (TNG/DS9)
Irish actor Meaney brought some Dublin charm to both ‘The Next Generation’ and 'Deep Space Nine' and hasn't wanted for work since the show was cancelled in 1999. He played Gene Hunt in a US pilot for 'Life On Mars' (before Harvey Keitel eventually got the role), played Don Revie in 'The Damned United', starred as Russell Brand's dad in 'Get Him To The Greek' and most recently took Norwich's finest hostage in 'Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa'. You'll be able to spy him in next year's espionage thriller 'Felt', about the Deep Throat informant. (He's not playing Deep Throat).
Quark - Armin Shimerman (TNG/DS9/Voyager)
Ferengi bartender Quark appeared in three different ‘Star Trek’ shows, but is most keenly associated with DS9 where his money-grabbing character was often at odds with Odo, the station’s security chief. He’s a TV regular appearing in shows like ‘Boston Legal’, ‘Buffy’, and ‘Stargate SG1′ but he’s probably best known now for his voice work in the ‘Ratchet & Clank’ video game series playing Dr. Nefarious.
Kate Mulgrew – Captain Kathryn Janeway (Voyager)
Mulgrew made her final Trek cameo as Vice Admiral Janeway in 'Star Trek: Nemesis' in 2002. She's proved adept at playing serious roles in confined spaces: Mulgrew plays Russian prison chef Red in the phenomenally successful Netflix series 'Orange Is The New Black', for which she won an Emmy nomination (fun fact: she was also nominated for a Golden Globe for playing TV detective Columbo's wife in spin-off, 'Mrs Columbo'). Mulgrew recently used her platform to speak out for prison reform. Janeway would approve.
Jeri Ryan - Seven of Nine (Voyager)
The lads mag favourite reportedly gave ‘Voyager’ a 60% ratings boost when joined the cast in season 4 as the liberated Borg Seven of Nine. Must have been a compelling storyline. After the show ended in 2001 she appeared in school drama ‘Boston Public’, and headlined the critically panned sci-fi comedy ‘The Last Man’, before appearing in TV shows like ‘The OC’ and ‘Boston Legal’. Aside from playing Sonya Blade in the short-lived ‘Mortal Kombat’ web series, Jeri can currently be seen in Amazon’s hit cop show ‘Bosch’.
Ethan Phillips - Neelix (Voyager)
Ship’s cook Neelix was a popular character aboard Voyager earning himself a spin-off cookbook featuring recipes contributed by actors from all iterations of the franchise. Since ‘Voyager’ he’s continued to act on stage, and has made a number of film appearances in ‘Bad Santa’, Michael Bay’s ‘The Island’, and more recently in the Coens’ ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’ playing Mr Gorfeins, the owner of the escaped cat.
Tim Russ – Lieutenant Commander Tuvok (Voyager)
Fun fact about the man who would be Tuvok – he also played the guy at the beginning of 'Spaceballs' who yells: “We ain't found s**t!” Work has not been so hard to come by: now 60, Russ has no less than 11 movie projects on his plate for 2016, and a few for next year too, including sci-fi TV series 'Blade Of Honor', which sounds a lot like a 'Star Trek' ripoff if we're being honest. And then there's 'Renegades', a familiar trek through the stars that flirts with copyright law, in which he plays 'Kovok'. Hmmm.
Jolene Blalock - Commander T’Pol (Enterprise)
Following the success of Voyager’s Seven of Nine, the last Trek series followed suit casting model turned actress Jolene Blalock as the Vulcan T’Pol. After ‘Enterprise’ she appeared in ‘Stargate SG1′ but her guest appearance as Sawyer’s love interest in ‘Lost’ never saw the light of day. She had a starring role in the straight-to-DVD ‘Starship Troopers 3: Marauder’, and prefers to keep her distance from Trek fandom nowadays and has only ever appeared at one convention in 2005. In 2014 she played the wife of Jack Black’s porn baron in Cameron Diaz comedy ‘Sex Tape’.
