Mistakes to Avoid When Selecting a Hotel Management College
When searching for Institute of Hotel Management schools, you might end up making errors in choosing one - here are five mistakes you should avoid when selecting a hotel management college in Jaipur.
Failure to Cross-Verify Information You Receive
Finding the ideal institute requires diligent research, gathering all of the pertinent information, before finalizing a decision. When looking for a hotel management college in jaipur such as AIHCM, be sure to gather all pertinent details such as course details, faculty, reviews and infrastructure - this information could make or break your career prospects! Taking time and care with cross-checking all information received will ensure a better experience overall.
Failure of Peer Pressure
One of the biggest mistakes young adults make when selecting their college is choosing it based on what their peers recommend. Every student has different needs and any slight deviation in career direction can have disastrous repercussions in the form of debt and lost opportunities in life. When selecting cruise ship hotel management as your field of study, select a college with not only theoretical offerings but also in-house practice facilities like training restaurants, front office labs, model guest rooms and housekeeping labs as this will enable students to complete field experience at various hotels across India - make sure it offers good internship options!
Not Focusing on Communication Skills
For those considering careers in hospitality management, communication skills are of utmost importance. You will interact with clients from around the globe; without sufficient confidence in talking to tourists from foreign countries it will become impossible to find work. AIHCM collaborates with Oxford University to enhance student's communication abilities; hosting seminars, workshops and classes on this matter at their institute to assist with managing different situations effectively.
Bad Placement Records
Have you selected colleges that have excellent placement records. When selecting institutes to apply at, consider picking those with excellent placement records - institutes like AIHCM offer great starts by placing employees for salaries ranging between 2.4 lakh per annum up to 7.5 lakh annually - any less will not make your effort worth while and any institute which provides support for further studies will only add another layer of success!
Missing the Campus Tour
Before making your choice, don't skip out on visiting the campus tour of any college you want to choose. Take time to experience how it feels like home and if the environment matches up. A campus tour shouldn't take more than a couple of hours and could make all the difference when selecting your perfect college - colleges such as AIHCM offer facilities like gym, food science club, digital library and computer lab that could make all the difference when making this important decision.
Conclusion
Selecting an ideal hotel management college in jaipur can be a difficult challenge. While putting together a check list will help identify positive attributes of each institution you visit, mistakes could still happen during the search and put your career at risk if not carefully planned out and executed. With these steps listed above you will avoid such errors in search.

Discover the Famous Places of India
INCREDIBLE INDIA
We arrive at the territory of 1,000 languages along with 1,000 gods. In the Intercontinental, the ladies in my personal collection are well versed with marigolds and branded with all a standard red dot onto our foreheads. This lodge is an oasis of luxurious at a polluted metropolis of 14 million folks. Two times have been spent traveling Delhi. The sites comprise Gandhi's Tomb and lots of UNESCO World Heritage Web Sites. Wherever else have historic customs combined together using the present in the scale therefore clear as in Delhi. Extra fat sacred Brahma bulls block site visitors creating flaws. Within this land, cows guideline. Canines, monkeys, and kiddies cross their risk.
I really like spiced foodstuff and commence each evening with a3 alarm-curry breakfast. We mind through trainer for Rajasthan, the gorgeous desert country by which cattle are substituted with camels. The atmosphere will be sweeter and that which more vivid. Here's really a microcosm of everything India is. Many folks are refined having a stunt in the event soul and light at the sight of thieves. We always tide by way of our chimney to people that struggle with fascination and appear to mention "why should you ever come ?" Like being a lover of this 3rd universe, this spot was around my own fantasy record for ages. I vividly enter that area of traveling providing you with me astonishment.
We have begun to wait for the yearly Camel honest at Pushkar that's occurred for one million decades past Whilst the entire world's most significant, it's in its summit attracted 50,000 camels by 200,000 dealers. We all unpack at our camp identified as unique Adventures. Our spartan tents didn't en suite baths but bathroom paper has been in a top. That has been a 2-4 hour shield out who stingily rationed his or her quota. From the summer, nighttime is freezing and afternoons sweltering. I confided into some guests in your American Embassy I felt as though that I had been at an episode of"Survivor." She whined reassuring me it had been worth every penny. So on my jolt turns out into amazement since I input fairgrounds.
Place on kilometers of sand slopes using festooned camels plus also a flood of pilgrims, the spectacle appears utterly forgettable. It's such as a Condition Fair On-steroids. That clearly was really a flurry of horse, bullock and camel races, competitions such as milking, creature adorning, turban linking, tattooing in addition to snake-charmers, completely free carnival rides, mystics, astrologers and magnificent booths of handicrafts at reasonable rates. The earth reverberates using pursuits. Countless Rajasthani lady has came dressed up in their very best apparel in close sweet colors. I see illuminated monkeys, painted cows, and cobra's dancing. No words could adequately clarify this helter-skelter overwhelms my 5 perceptions. The others could possess Europe having its own cathedrals and museums. As an example personally, this really exotic vulnerability and ethnic immersion would be your best traveling!
Wrapped in the dust, and people come back. Every single night there's entertainment underneath the celebrities together with musicians, folk dancers, puppet present or flame fighters. No alcoholic beverages are authorized and all foods are vegetarian buffets. An Ayurveda middle delivers us treatment options to cleansing toxins. We reduce these induced throwing up, enemas, nasal drainage along with blood-letting.
We see the sacred town of Pushkar having its own sacred lake made by Lord Brahma. Pilgrims appear from afar to wash at the ghats and snore round-the-clock. We know about religions: Zorastrism,'' Sikhism, the mysterious Sufi's, Jainists who won't eliminate a mosquito, Hinduism that asserts no total accuracy and also the caste system. We see temples in the lake; a few really are"blessed" by priests. Later on, a highlight for me personally was 1 hour Camel Cart Safari supporting the scenes of this honest. Kiddies line our path yelling to us"Hello, 1 pencil remember to!" We view a slaughtered and half of nude folks washing daily. Straight back within the reasons we see an orphanage and scatter separately for lost from the frenzied revelry. We trip enormous spitting camels offering us an increased view of this all. I buy twelve garnet silver and necklaces ankle bracelets. Teen boys tactic Terry to picture him. He has 6'5'". One as him"Sir, what would you consume?"
Our collection proved to be all wonderful!
You will find infinite food however we ought to pass enticements to protect against"Delhi stomach." I detect that the cacophony of insanity lovely. Pushkar is quite an event affair for those sailors and also we have been an only captioning company. I am really so thankful to undergo this a while and energy to move with all our hectic trip.
We arrive at the famous"Pink City" of Jaipur, today a more profound maroon from contamination. Additionally vacationing its own palaces, architectural and fort marvels, we know of those amazing Amber rulers and maharajahs of this Moghul empire. Heritage will come alive and now also I locate myself interested because I cared for. And here's really a shopper's heaven for silk sarees, stone, marble, and jewelry crafts. I saw a creature refuge known as"Assist ." The most peculiar examples of species have been treated by volunteer veterinarians. Exotic 5 stray canines have been sterilized each day and that I see an operation. (Watch www.HIS-INDIA.com ) you are able to easily email them a test to provide help.
Only assist in Enduring' a puppy spaying Building a contribution Volunteer vets speak to Suzy
Onto observe the expansive Fatehpur Sikri, "Ghost Town of Akbar" which has been left as a result of lack of plain water. We reach Agra, a busted town of 2.5 million. Hawkers disturb us. Chained conveys dancing for rupees on the road. Starving kids ensue. We're grateful to marvel in the deluxe Sheraton the following along with its own western cuisine and also cheap massages at $20. It had been similar to a galaxy shift from your Caribbean.
Soon after seeing an eyeful of miracles on the way in which, we've spared the very best for final in the planet's biggest tribute to really like. Goose-bumps climb since I input the royal gate into the Taj Mahal. Morning sun warms it as just a perfect pearl...22 years to construct with 200,000 adult men with two million bits of wrought semi-precious stone. After having a lecture about which this ideal symmetry is made to get Queen Mumtaz, we distribute to picture exactly what looks like quite a mirage. It's poetry in design so that as glorious as is envisioned.
Straight back in Delhi, most of us like a completely free afternoon of leisure to research once we all choose! Most proceed shopping since deals will be low but just how lots of Pashmina shawls do you want? For the final day, we now enjoy a series known as"Dances of India" followed closely by means of a farewell banquet of the Last Day (Indian) Supper.
That I remise still another travel well done with great manuals, motorists, accommodations and assistance. I remember my favored time that happened in the reason when I employed two"human anatomy manuals" to aid me throughout the audiences, Jamal and also Ranchi. Both of these 11-year-old boys ensured me enjoy barnacles along with also their glistening grinning faces that will probably forever stay etched in my own memory of India. This excursion has revived my fascination with the earth reminding me that my love of traveling proliferates itself. The longer I visit, the longer I desperately wish to watch.
This nation will be for the traveler. I'm exceptionally impressed with all the fortitude and persistence of my bunch of sixty persons in a property of infrastructure that is jagged. For a while, it had been their very first trip to this next world nevertheless all of them lived to enjoy experts. To see discomfort hand would be your most economical approach to love dwelling. We watched matters both dreadful and joyous. The phrase"intriguing" but would amount up the whole holiday season. I have to reunite back again.
MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACE ON EARTH - INDIA
If you're planning about one's next holiday, then think of India. Probably one among the absolute most vibrant states on the ground, India has a lot of offers you will simply not need to return straight back! The broad array of civilizations, customs, heritage and also the all-natural splendor of this position are guaranteed to create your trip most notable! The glorious Mogul monuments, the most enchanting splendor of its own temples along with temples of this splendor and attractiveness of this Rajput predominate really are a couple of explanations for why tens and thousands of people arrived year after year. A property of ethnic diversity,'' India is still amongst the biggest democratic nations on the planet. From luxurious locales to calm countryside, this remarkable vacation destination is packed with surprises! From hiking at the hardest Himalayan peaks, to ride from the huge desert stretches and out of wild-life Safari in a National Park into some relaxing shore family vacation at Goa, there's therefore far to adventure! During the time you're here usually do not miss sites including Agra -- home for the globally renowned Peninsula, the Taj Mahal, Rajasthan - the property of architectural marvels and also Goa - a sexy place for anyone that really like sunlight'n' Sand. One other place which may catch your spirit would be Kerala. Called the god's own country', the stunning shores here offer you a refreshing escape. Due to many nations within a governmental border, every single invest India is comparable from one other. The northwest includes its own very own gaudy civilizations and also the south-east beckons people to watch the most intricate spiritual festivals. A heady combination of this older and also the brand new, you fulfill get the price approach of this past heavily maintained from the existing. India can be renowned for adventure trekking. Hiking, hiking, river rafting, hockey and also the wildlife shore at Jim Corbett playground are those actions you may have pleasure inside! Whether you're coming alone or together with family, then you may always receive yourself a package on the web to coordinate with your vacation requirements. Still another benefit of reserving your trip on the internet is the fact that a few internet sites also supply you with vacation insurance plan, therefore you never need to think about receiving you. Using all growth of tourism business, the united states features lots of all lodges spa hotels and resorts to earn your stay at ease. Whether you're searching to get a luxurious lodge with world-class facilities or even some wonderful budget lodging, then you are going to readily come across one yourself. But until you measure from one's hotel space, choosing a vacationer counsel is extraordinarily recommended. You'll find many types of excursion choices to traveling India. You may pick those tours determined by the specific regions you'll prefer to go to. Should you want to know more about the cultural heritage of the united states afterward choosing a trip that ensures the most outstanding historic destinations will probably provide you exactly what you really want. The other famous excursion would be that the Golden Zone tour, which covers major metropolitan areas in Delhi, Jaipur, and Agra. The scenic landscapes, gold beaches, blazing deserts, even the early temples and also the civilization of this contemporary era have manufactured India - a land of dramatic contrasts. Nowhere on the planet, you'll locate incredible charm and fascination since you'll discover throughout your visit to India.
I'm firmly confident that the united states of India were transplanted from the other world. You may locate no other place just like it around this particular world.
India can be a nation at which you can notice all you may see right now. What's more, that which you may observe will likely be more intense. You are not going to observe a beggar that you are going to notice countless of those. You are not going to observe a gorgeous shore, you are going to realize the very gorgeous beaches on earth. Spots of riches really are over the top you are going to be shocked. The shantytowns of this inferior, on the opposite side, will put you straight back to your own bites.
India could be the 1 location you may travel to and come off entirely enthralled and laughing in an identical moment. In case your notion of travel is sitting down at a posh lodge, India has these kinds of hotels nevertheless, you are going to not be able to steer clear of the attractive locations. In the event you would rather get outside and also choose a civilization that's totally unfamiliar for you, you won't ever locate a greater place compared to India.
India is truly numerous states in just a political border. The southeast of India is completely distinct compared to the northwest. The exact same holds for that east-west and west. In the event, you really don't enjoy the region you are in, then only get to the train to get a time or 2 and also you are going to be on a totally different planet.
Among those largest passenger complaints concerning India could be that poverty. In fact, it's lousy. There's just no way across the actuality. All you've got seen, where you might have done nothing fits with the poverty in India. The majority of cities are cities and also the states are far less than the best. To receive a very first-hand account, I recommend you examine the superb publication, "Shantaram", by Gregory David Roberts. Roberts dwelt in a few of those shantytowns for a long time busy by law enforcement. The publication is enormous and provides you with an alternative outlook in the poverty circumstance. No matter you'll have issues addressing all the poverty in India. Additionally, it can destroy your journey in case you are not attentive.
In case you are contemplating seeing India, then you want to simply accept the simple fact life is much different, and also you also have to return to grips on this specific until you're gone. In fact, India can be a remarkably attractive state of all beauty, magnificent websites and unbelievably humorous men and women.

Interview series - What after B.Arch? #12
Interviewee: Ar. Lolia Mary Post-graduation: Masters in Environmental Planning | School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, India
What prompted you to take up this particular program?
I felt the need to focus on larger scales and broader perspectives of development, to understand the dynamics of how and why we have different types of built landscapes across various regions. By the 4th year in my undergraduate study, I was gravitating towards learning more about natural systems and environmentally sustainable designs. Master’s in Environmental Planning was the most appropriate course, which fit my inclination and interest w.r.t scale and natural systems.
Tumblr media
When did you take up master’s?
I got into Master’s course immediately after Bachelor’s.
My advice is simple: if you have a clear inclination towards further studies and have examined why you need to pursue a master’s course and a preferred subject, I don’t think you should stop yourself from immediately joining a course. But if you are inclined to practising Architecture in the long run and do not feel the need to further your studies immediately then you might want to get into practice. This will buy yourself more time to think through.
When did you start with the application process considering the time for application, scholarship/bursary deadlines etc.?
I started enquiring and doing my research on the application process, subjects/courses, colleges etc. around the beginning of the 5th year of the course. Of course, towards the last semester in Architecture, it was more intense.
One should start researching, reviewing courses and colleges at least a year before (if not a year and a half). This will give you more options and enough time to weigh your options. If planning on taking up courses outside of India, then one might want to give oneself at least 15 months’ time so as to not miss courses starting at different times of the year.
What preparation did you do before starting master’s? I did some background study on environmental planning and prepared for moving to a new city. The school did not hold any pre-master’s programs/induction week/courses. I spoke to alumni and professors of the program.
Did you have to give any entrance tests? How did you plan for them?
SPA’s admission procedure at that time (2010) had two stages of candidate evaluation;
Stage 1) Detailed application form submission (Statement of Purpose, Portfolio-CV, and application form, Scorecards in Architecture and Scorecard of GATE exam)
Stage 2) Short-listed candidates are called in for a short written test and an Interview thereafter
Based on the results of these stages of review, the final list of successful candidates is put up.
It is ideal if you also qualify and secure a good rank in GATE; this will increase your points at the admission ranking and also help secure GATE scholarship.
How long was your program?
It was a two-year course. Courses began in July 2010 and ended in April 2012. Post-program opportunities were not available.
Did you have post-masters plans in mind when you took up masters? Or did you go with the flow?
My intent was to work in planning and environmental sector wherein I gain experience while working in all types of organizations (research-based organizations, government based, NGO, corporate etc.). I had given myself the flexibility for seeking job opportunities with an open mind initially, so it was easier to go with the flow. My idea was that I need to experience each type of organization to better understand how the sector itself functions.
How was the experience at the school?
It was quite rewarding given the exposure received especially to be able to hear and learn from pioneers, decision makers and change makers of planning and development in India. There is no stopping on how much one can learn because it is up to the individual to take initiative.
Even though at times chaotic with multiple perspective and reasonings, this chaos opens one’s horizon of knowledge and gives you the grounding required to understand planning and development in a developing nation like ours which is much complex unlike developed nations. This is my take.
Tumblr media
How was the teaching at your school?
The teaching was heavily anchored on in-depth research (within the constraint of time), brainstorming, discussions, group work and field work. This is important so as to learn; how to agree to disagree, resolve conflicts and evolve balanced recommendations considering multiple aspects. This skill is fundamental while practising the profession of planning as it is multi-sectoral in its nature of practice on ground.
Classes were a standard 9.00am-5.00pm, five days a week with occasional special classes during Saturdays. Yes, there was quality time for extracurricular activities.
Tell us more about the mentors.
All the faculty in Department of Environmental Planning were very approachable (they still are) and one could approach them at their department rooms freely and they were accessible except when they were occupied with prior appointments.
I’d like to especially remember and thank Prof. Aseesh Maitra, Prof. Meenakshi Dhote, my thesis guides Ar. Anita Tikoo and Asst. Prof. Neha Tripati Goel for their wisdom, inspiration, patience and endurance.
Were you involved in research projects/competitions while studying?
Partly, through our studio and department projects.
Could you tell us in brief what your thesis/dissertation/final project was about?
It was on developing a model framework to evaluate landscape for its functional capacity to perform ecosystem services.
What kind of dialogue did you have with your professors?
I had the best thesis guides I could ask for. Ar. Anita Tikoo and Asst. Prof. Neha Tripathi Goel were exactly who, I and my topic needed. They always asked the right questions and also encouraged and stirred me to ask the right questions. They were open to hearing my thoughts and provide excellent critique was truly involved as my thesis guides. I think asking the right questions and encouraging us to ask questions pushes one to seek answers ourselves and thus expand the scope of learning.
How was the structure of your meetings with the guides?
We had a structure and a tentative schedule with targets applicable to all students. But over and above both my thesis guides were available for discussions whenever I required, to review with them. We had discussions before the scheduled submission and presentation of the work.
Did you encounter any challenges while doing your thesis?
I cannot remember any negative challenge. Thesis is about taking up a challenging research-based topic which you try and engage with in-depth for the given time. And a good thesis topic shouldn’t and cannot end with the final submission or jury presentation because it would have a further scope of examination and enquiry.
Could you please tell us about the thesis assessment system?
We had intermittent presentation and grading through the various stages of the thesis semester. It concluded with a final jury presentation (external and internal jurors) and submission of the report.
How did you manage the finances?
Fully funded by my kind and loving parents as I hadn’t received any scholarship.
Could you tell us about your accommodation?
Stayed in the campus hostel. The hostel building was right at the campus and barely took 5 minutes to walk to the department.
Did you travel while/after studying?
Yes. As much as I could.
Through Architecture and Environmental Planning course, I travelled to Jaisalmer, Jaipur, Udaipur, Junagadh, Kutch, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Puri, Bhubaneswar, Varanasi, Sarnath, Nainital, New Delhi, Agra, Fatehpur Sikri, Bhopal, Batindha, Puducherry; with the intent of experiencing the city and architecture, some were part of the studio projects/thesis and some places were purely leisure.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Are there any notable incidents/ anecdotes from post-grad studies that you wish to share?
I can’t think of any one incident. I often tell people it was so much fun learning and going to the classes especially because we were a small group of 12 students (12-15 seats in M.EP course) and luckily we synced and worked very well together through consensus and disagreements. Of course, all the campus extracurricular activities and travelling was awesome, thanks to a lot of friends from my B.Arch times who were also studying various Master’s courses.
How much one learns and grows is up to the individual. Professors and guidance can only show you the options and directions available and it’s entirely up to you to choose the path of your interest/capacity. And for that self-reflection is important.
Tumblr media
How do you think doing a master’s degree helped you?
Unlike many other courses which are focused on individual students and individual projects; planning requires persistent and successful collaboration across sectors and specialized professionals. Apart from the learning of the subject and the way it was taught, one of the important takeaway was, the first-hand experience of the strength of collaboration which enabled a smooth transition into the profession, especially in the initial years.
The university met my expectations to a great extent. The information about the course on the website reflected reality.
Did the city/country you studied in play a major role during your postgraduate study?
Yes. At least for Planning course, it ensured a sound foundation of the context (social, political, economic and environmental) that I would be working in for the next 7 years.
Could you please tell us about your current work and future plans?
I am currently working remotely as a consultant for a project and another programme run by an NGO. I am quite adaptive in nature, so my future plans are also very dynamic. My area of interest is applied research and hence I am open to any good platform that enables it.
What message would you like to give to students/professionals planning their post-graduate studies?
Well, whichever course one chooses, ensure that you know why you want to take up the course (for whatever reason be it professional, ideological, or simply self-growth). Do your research on the various options that you have w.r.t courses, universities and locations worldwide.

In 2011, I won Indian Princess 2011, Miss Tourism World 2011, and Miss Asian Supermodel 2011. I also won the title of Miss Tourism Queen Of The Year 2011 that was held in China with participants from 102 countries and became the first Indian woman to win the pageant. In 2012, I won the coveted crown of I AM She — Miss Universe India as well as the special award for Miss Photogenic. However, I had to leave the ‘I AM She’ crown as I was underage at that time.
In 2015, I joined the Indian pageantry again and reclaimed the same title. Thus I became the first and only woman in history to win the Miss Universe India crown twice (giggles). Additionally, I also won the title of Miss Beautiful Smile at the Yamaha Fascino Miss Diva-Miss Universe India 2015. Finally the big moment came when I represented India in the Miss Universe 2015. So from Beauty pageants to Modeling… and then Bollywood movies.(smiles)

Soon after, I joined the South film industry and made my Kannada debut with Mr. Airavata. Then I did two films, Sanam Re and Great Grand Masti as well as two music videos in 2016. The first was Laal Dupatta with Mika Singh and Anupama Raag and the other was Gal Bann Gayi along with Vidyut Jammwal.
Then I featured in a special dance number Haseeno Ka Deewana in Kaabil. Then finally my biggest hit came in 2018, in the revenge drama Hate Story 4. My latest being Anees Bazmee’s comedy film Pagalpanti.

Amid the Coronavirus Crisis, Heart and Stroke Patients Go Missing
Tumblr media
Bishnu Virachan was a bicycle deliveryman for a grocery store in Queens. With New York City locked down, he was busier than ever. But in early April, as he was watching television, he felt “a pain in my heart.” It frightened him, but he did not go to the emergency room. Mr. Virachan, 43, was even more afraid of that.“What can I do? What can I do?” he asked. “Everywhere, the coronavirus.”After a few days, pain overrode fear and he went to Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan. Doctors discovered a nearly complete blockage of his left main coronary artery.A surgeon opened the artery, but Mr. Virachan was left with a weakened heart. Had he waited much longer, doctors said, he would have died.Fear of the coronavirus is leading people with life-threatening emergencies, like a heart attack or stroke, to stay home when ordinarily they would have rushed to the emergency room, preliminary research suggests. Without prompt treatment, some patients, like Mr. Virachan, have suffered permanent damage or have died.Emergency rooms have about half the normal number of patients, and heart and stroke units are nearly empty, according to doctors at many urban medical centers. Some medical experts fear more people are dying from untreated emergencies than from the coronavirus.A recent paper by cardiologists at nine large medical centers estimated a 38 percent reduction since March 1 in the number patients with serious heart attacks coming in to have urgently needed procedures to open their arteries. On a recent day at the Cleveland Clinic, there were only seven patients in the 24-bed coronary care unit. Usually the unit is full.“Where are the patients?” asked Dr. Steven Nissen, a cardiologist there. “That can’t be normal.”One of the few was a man who lives in Cleveland. According to Dr. Nissen, the man felt chest pain while doing push-ups, but feared going to the hospital because there might be coronavirus patients there. He stayed home for a week, growing weaker — out of breath with the slightest exertion, his legs swelling. Finally, on April 16, he went to the Cleveland Clinic. What should have been an easily treated heart attack had progressed to a life-threatening disaster. He survived after a dicey operation and spent nearly a week in intensive care, including several days on a ventilator, Dr. Nissen said. The inpatient stroke unit at Stanford University Medical Center in California usually has 12 to 15 patients, said its director, Dr. Gregory Albers. On one recent day in April, there were none at all, something that had never happened.“It’s frightening,” Dr. Albers said. Yet few Covid-19 patients have been admitted to the hospital, and people needing emergency treatment have little to fear.“We prepared for an onslaught, but it has not arrived,” Dr. Albers said.According to Dr. Samin Sharma, who heads the cardiac catheterization lab at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, the number of heart attack patients fell from seven in February to three in March. So far in April there have been only two. It’s not just the United States. Dr. Valentin Fuster, editor of the Journal of American College of Cardiology, said he is getting so many papers from around the world on the steep decline in heart attack patients in hospitals that he simply cannot publish them all.A hospital in Jaipur, India, for example, that Dr. Sharma owns, treated 45 heart attack patients in January, he said. In February, there were 32, and in March, 12. In April, so far the number is just six.“I am very very worried that we are creating a problem that will have long-term consequences for the health of the community,” said Dr. Richard A. Chazal, medical director of the Heart and Vascular Institute at Lee Health in Fort Myers, Fla., and a past president of the American College of Cardiology.Could it be that there actually are fewer medical emergencies now? Dr. Fuster speculated that perhaps people are healthier because they are eating better, exercising more and under less stress now that so many are working from home. And, of course, the air is cleaner in urban areas.Other experts doubt that better health habits could have such dramatic and immediate effects. Far from eating better, Dr. Nissen said, many patients tell him they are overeating comfort food. There is no evidence that people are exercising more, and people are hardly under less stress.“They are scared to death,” Dr. Nissen said. And, he said, even if some people changed their habits, studies have failed to find any immediate effects of short-term lifestyle changes on heart attack rates. At the moment, it is nearly impossible to know who is not showing up in emergency rooms, and why, said Dr. Harlan Krumholz, a cardiologist at Yale University. “You can’t find the dog that doesn’t bark,” he said. But you can get a sense from the patients who do show up, even belatedly.Kaplana Jain, 60, of Cresskill, N.J, was watching CNN late at night on April 18. She got up to go to the bathroom and collapsed on the floor. Her blood sugar was elevated, and her family called 911.When the paramedics arrived, Ms. Jain told them she did not want to go to the hospital. “I was scared because of the coronavirus going on,” she said. The next day, unable to walk, she called Dr. Sharma, a family friend. He urged her to go to the hospital, but still fearful, she insisted on going to his office the next day. When she arrived, Dr. Sharma did an EKG that confirmed she was having a heart attack. He rushed her to the hospital and opened a blocked artery.“She is one of the lucky people with this kind of heart attack who didn’t develop cardiac arrest or go into shock,” he said. Had she not gone to the hospital, she likely would have died at home.Back at the Cleveland Clinic, a man arrived with stroke symptoms on April 15. According to Dr. Thomas Waters, an emergency room physician, the man had waited two days to come in because he was afraid of the coronavirus. There was nothing doctors could do to prevent permanent brain damage.“What’s done is done,” Dr. Waters said. “Now we are at a point where we have nothing to offer but rehab.” Read the full article

Post India
Tumblr media
The date is 12/29/17, officially 12 days since our flight landed back in Chicago. And holy heck, they’ve been cold. The difference of about 90 degrees in Mumbai v. 2 degrees plus windchill in Chicago, not exactly a pleasant transition. The weather is far from being the only part of India that I miss. The colors, the people, the traffic, the FOOD, and hell, even the smells.
Over the course of 21 days, my classmates have become my friends, my expectations were shattered by the reality of my experiences, and India has become a kind of home. I kept a journal that helped me to document and capture my emotions and details of our trip that I fear I might forget (as my memory is not the greatest).
Our journey starts in Mumbai. Over the course of 14 days here, we were tourists, filmmakers, explorers, and heavy drinkers.
The intention of our journey to India was to learn about Bollywood and how to make documentaries. My group worked closely with VIDYA, an NGO in Powaii, to document their work with computer learning in a slum. We met people like Ankit, a famous LGBTQ activist, and Hakim, a student turned teacher of the CLRC program through our film experience. We danced to traditional Indian dance party music with a room of elementary students and ate home cooked food from a kitchen created to provide women of the slums with a purpose. It was a truly intimidating and intimate look into real people and real struggles. As a Data Scientist, a realm far away from filmmaking, I was exposed to a new way of expressing emotion and life as we know it. Challenges were evident, but not so much an obstacle that it took away from the experience. Bollywood films are an incredible mixture of genre and color and emotion, and I have a whole different level of respect for their production now.
Through Whistling Woods International, the school that we worked through, we practiced yoga, experienced Bollywood dance, listened to lectures from renowned filmmakers and ate the best veg/non-veg thali every damn day for 95 rupees. On the weekends we became Mumbai tourists, a truly great mixture of work & play. We explored mosques, temples, markets, caves, downtown Mumbai and middle-class neighborhoods. We ate, danced, bargained for better prices, drank, created stupid inside jokes, and shielded ourselves from unwanted pictures.
The pictures below represent just a small portion of the overall Mumbai experience. It’s hard to capture emotions in pictures (for a mere computer geek, but others had success).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After two weeks of hot, humid, smoggy Mumbai, we hopped on a train to head to Jaipur - the part two of our greatest tourist adventure. Then a long train ride, destination Agra. Between these two places, we explored architectural masterpieces, Albert Hall, Taj Mahal, Amber Fort, Palace of Winds and so on. We ate at an incredible amount of buffets, which lost their luster quickly as they were very westernized and repetitive.
An experience that is still so clear in my head is getting my tattoo (total impulse move). Across from the Palace of Winds in downtown Jaipur, there is a small tattoo cafe on the roof of a four story building. It is family-owned, run by a very good looking couple, Juhi & Karan, and their children, Levana (8) & Miku (2), who live below the shop. Over the course of 10 hours, we learned an incredible amount about their family from Juhi, the main artist and wife. They were both born and raised in Jaipur and have faced a lot of adversary about their careers to become who they are today. Nothing that I say could ever encapsulate our time spent with the family, but the experience has left an impression on me that I don’t think I could forget.
Below are more pictures of my attempt to capture our experience in Jaipur & Agra.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then finally, we were on a plane back to Jaipur. A mere 36 hours later, we were on a flight back to Chicago. I remember that last night, we were driving through Mumbai and I stuck my head out the window and soaked in the polluted air, the sounds of honking and people talking, and the sight of traffic and little shops down the streets. It was the perfect ending to a very emotional and eye-opening trip. A teary goodbye for sure but the thought of my return settled the churning sadness to a tolerable amount.
Sure, I am sad and a bit awestruck that the trip came and went so quickly, but I have learned so much about myself that it’s hard to stay gloomy for long. Everyday life in Chicago and the suburbs is a lull compared to India so it has been an adjustment for sure. My first night back, my family went out to dinner and I burst out crying because I was not prepared to the comparatively quiet, organized city life and the return to bland American food.
And the one thing I feared the most has come true. Not fear as in nightmares and Freddy Krueger-esque horror, but the sudden urge to quit university and my internship and modern life itself to travel the world with only my backpack and my bike. Not even 24 hours after we landed in Chicago, I had itinerated a trip to France. As you can tell, I move quickly. My dreams at night consist of slow, detailed plans of how to pack light and getting on buses towards unknown places at a whim. The strong urge to disconnect from reality and become more connected with the world itself is one of the only feelings that has been consistent my whole life.
This is just the beginning of a new era of self-exploration. India was the start, France is the next greatest adventure.

But the irony is that while contestants are enjoying their time and friendly towards each other, it’s the fans that has taken the competition to another level. Verbal competition among the fans between supporters of one region and another region. That’s bound to happen in any contest. Leaving that aside, the 30 beauty queens were taken to Jaipur where they had their photo shoots and Facebook Live events. It gave us a chance to connect to our favourites and get to know them well.
Without explaining further, here are my favourites for fbb Femina Miss India crown. There are five contestants I personally would love to see any one of them win the crown and represent India at Miss World. Rest of the ten contestants are another favourites without any merit or rank. My favourites are based on how I personally felt about the contestants besides their pre-finale activities. Some of them might not be in everyone list or weak according to others but they my favourites and I will cheer for them.
Favourite five for Miss India 2017 crown (in no particular order
Maharashtra – Aishwarya Devan is true queen in every sense. Her calm personality, poise and looking so ease in front of the camera gives her an aura of Miss India. Thanks to her acting career downside, she is so captivating in pictures and videos. She is one the few contestants who already has the Miss India vibes in her. The only thing I am concern about her is that when she speaks she makes it very short. Would love to see her explaining a little more when she is asked to speak. Maybe a little depth in her speech.
Delhi – Most of the previous winners of Miss India were from Delhi, Maira Choudhary might feel the pressure of being another Delhite to win the crown, but that’s not even visible in her. She is easy going, fun and very likeable. She is intelligent too. She can speak on any subject and win you over. A lot might have issues with her often hinting about her education from Oxford and achievement at Mt. Kilimanjaro, that’s something she has achieve for herself. Sometimes, listening to the fan is important too. She can share her experiences about the journey and the impact of those in her life.
Uttarakhand – A pageant veteran and an engineer, I think Miss Universe will like her. But she is here in Miss India contest. Being a former Miss Delhi and Miss India top 5 finalist and a 4th runner-up at Miss Asia Pacific World 2014, to come back at here speaks how much she prefers Miss India over Miss Diva. After Aishwarya, Anukriti Gussain is another contestant who has a queenly aura. What I really like about her is that she is much more relaxed and confident now. The only thing she needs to improve is how to conclude her speech. She starts off well when she speaks but her endings are inconclusive. Of all the come-backs, Anukriti stands tall.
Haryana – A medical student from Sonepat, Manushi Chhillar might not be the best in terms of styling or having that pre-notion feel of a beauty queen but she has lots of potential to be a winner and with training and grooming, her transformation is going to be mind blowing. Let’s say she is a beautiful princess waiting to be crowned a queen. Remember, there’s a reason why she won Miss Haryana. When she speaks, there’s sincerity and passion. I really like when she said she would like to be known as a Public Health worker than being known a doctor. I hear a genuine in her voice.
Arunachal Pradesh – Lichaa Thosum came to contest relatively unknown and became a favourite of many once the contest started but is still underrated by many. Having seen her video footage of Miss Northeast 2016, I have full faith in her. She is very determined to win the crown not just for the Arunachal but for the entire northeast. I see her passion as her strong point. Being intelligent is her another quality that will get her through to the competition. Many consider North-eastern candidates to be weak in communications (which is a misconception) since they are not seen speaking much or are very soft or low when speaking. If last year winner Priyadarshini from Guwahati wasn’t enough to prove, here’s Licha to prove them wrong.
The Rest of the Favourites
Uttar Pradesh – The girl who has travel more than 20 countries. It is said that people who travels (including me 😊) are very positive on outlook of life since they are globally and culturally aware which brings a whole lot of another personality in them. Shefali Sood is that person. Her personality shines through the contest. Not sure if she has visited the Latin countries, but she has a Latina vibe in her. Her Indian look with a Latina vibe will appeal to everyone internationally.
Tripura – Everytime, I watch Rinky, it is an absolute joy. She is so fun, bright and always in a happy mood. Her colleague calls her Rockstar. I get it why! She brings so much of positivity not just around her but also to people who are watching her. Definitely the most popular among the contestants. Though she is very determined to win the crown, but she makes the atmosphere very lively. If Miss India was about personality, she is sure shot for the top 5 but she has to prove herself in the top 10 if she makes the cut.
Telangana – Simran Choudhary traveled by car from Hyderabad to Mumbai with her family for Miss India contest. That’s one adventurous family. I love this personality of her. She is charming and sweet. She looks so fresh all the time. But would that be enough?
Punjab – Navpreet Kaur has got the spark and energy to do well in the contest. She was a top five finalist last year. So she has got the experience to help her through but with the change of format this years, and girls from 30 different states equally giving a tough competition, she might have to prove herself because there are many first timers who are exceptionally well.
Jammu and Kashmir – Every time I look at Sana Dua, I am reminded of those strong independent women who stands tall due to their strong personality. And there’s something very mystical about her I think it has to do with her military background where being discipline and hard work are the keys to success. She has already proven that being a lawyer, model and experience in pageant.
Mizoram – Fresh from the success of winning the title of Miss Mizoram, Rody was selected as Femina Miss India Mizoram to compete at Miss India contest. Her popularity increases manifold. Her sweet aura and photogenic face and poise which constantly looks amazing in photos got her all the attention even before the contest started. She just won Miss Popularity and Talent. That’s says a lot about her. She cannot be totally written off even if she is hardly seen during the contest.
Bihar – Priyanka Kumari made it to many sub-contest, and won Miss Goodness Ambassador and Ramp walk. She was also of the finalist of Body Beautiful contest. When you have one of the best body in the contest, won ramp walk contest twice already and is a winner of goodness ambassador, that’s half a battle won and a Queen in the making. I have a strong feeling she will make it to the top 5 because she speaks very well too.
Manipur – Another Miss Northeast 2016 contest winner, Soibam Kanchan has proved herself in this competition. Her transformation from the time she won Femina Miss India Manipur to the present, has been exceptionally amazing. She did mention in one of her interview that she was going to Bangalore for training before going to Mumbai for Miss India contest. Having said all the positive points, I think she needs to express herself more clearly.
Kerala – Tall and beautiful, Mannat Singh is really lovely when she is on camera. In one of the Fb live video, we learn that she is Deepika Padukone of this year batch. That’s when I realised she did have a unmistakable resemblance to Deepika. The aura, grace and elegance were hard to ignore. Despite the similarities, she stands out on her own. And one thing Deepika don’t have but Manna has is that Mannat can speak better than Deepika.
Goa – A pageant veteran, model and tv actress, Audrey D’Silva is well prepared for this contest. Though the camera might not focus much on her, but she has an undeniable presence and she shines when needed. She won Miss Vivacious award, that means she is making all the right move.
