Jackunzel February Special Week 4 - Winter Golden Winter

It’s easy to say winter is all whites and grays. Browns underneath the frost, perhaps. A time devoid of life and color.

But look a little closer. Among the whites, there is golden as well. Early morning sunshine and the last fiery waves of dusk glinting off icicles. Festive holiday lights and midday sunbeams alike shining on snowdrifts. The first spring flowers poking up through snow and ice.

The winter is filled with gold, even when you have to look again to see it.

Another moodboard made because I have, once again, saved one too many gold-and-white Jackunzel-coded pics on impulse like “I MUST USE THESE AT ALL COSTS” Well, I have now managed to use most of them while making...well, a gold-and-white Jackunzel-coded pic moodboard XD Yet another shout-out to JFS here for providing me a winter prompt to dump many of my unused wintry Jackunzel-coded aesthetic pics into XD

Akajndhisbydg can you tell that some of these were runner-ups that didn’t make it into that Jackunzel Month “Winter Sun” prompt a while back

Anyways I just think that these two’s visual motifs go pretty fantastically together. Like have you SEEN sunshine on fresh snow, catching the crystals in that way where it glitters really brightly??? Shit’s fucking dope. As someone who grew up in the midwestern US, I can say with confidence that sunlight on snow is one of the greatest things in existence. It kept me going even when The Horrors ran amok and everything else felt bleak and hopeless. Next time it seems like life isn’t worth living, remember that sunlight on snow is a thing that exists.

It’s also symbolically connected to my OTP, so you know. Bonus points for that <3

Gold and white also just go fantastically together in general, so bless this glorious sun-and-moon ship for giving me an excuse to make palettes and graphics and such that feature these two bad bitch colors kicking ass together <3 <3 <3

Jackunzel February: Summer

Seasons AU

This guardian thing is more annoying than anything.

Where his days used to be filled with frost and fun, they are now filled with the tedious affairs of the four seasons, who keep him close while they figure out what the hell to do with him.

There is one bright side to all this.

“Hey, Jack!”

He smiles before he even sees her, but when he turns around, his smile only doubles. Rapunzel is running ahead of the Spring Council, sprouts bursting through the snow beneath her every footstep.

She doesn’t slow down, just barrels into him and knocks him off his feet. They tumble into the thick blanket of snow that covers the whole forest, but as the Spring Council approaches, it gives way to green grass and fresh blooms.

“I missed you,” she says, rolling off of him and onto the wet earth with a laugh that pours sunshine over every inch of him.

Jack rolls onto his side to smile down at her. “Sick of your council already? I know I am.”

May Queen above them and Bunny says, “Get off of that poor thing, Frost.”

With a laugh, he grabs his crook and flies up, taking her hand to set her on her feet. The dirt on her arms and legs turns to mud in the wet snow. Her eyes on him are almost electric.

“You must get the archer,” North says suddenly, or maybe it wasn’t sudden. Maybe this had been preludes by something Jack hadn’t bothered to hear.

“I’ll just go get them,” Bunny says with a thump of his foot. The leprechaun narrowly avoids falling into his burrow.

“No. They must practice their abilities. Let them go,” the Sugar Plum Fairy insists.

Bunny mumbles something about stupid kids, but Jack can’t even hear them. Rapunzel is grinning bright enough to warm the whole earth and a laugh bubble ups inside of him.

“Ready?” he asks and her legs are wrapped around him before he’s even finished. He can feel the way she’s buzzing with excitement and he laughs again.

He knows for a fact he’s grinning like an idiot when he turns to face the two seasons, but nothing could stop it. Not even the disgusted look Bunny shoots his way.

“Summer Hemisphere?” he asks the spirits and North nods. “We’ll be back with Merida.”

“Watch your hands, Frost!” Bunny shouts after them as they jet up into the air.

Rapunzel laughs wild like a child, dirty hands gripping his shoulders as they soar towards summer. The winter woods fade away behind them like a memory. Now all that’s left is Rapunzel’s hungry eyes and giddy shrieks as they coast above the earth.

“You get to do this every day?!” she asks, shouting in his ear so loud it hurts.

Her body is warm against his, warmer than he’s ever been, and he answers, “Just ask and you can come get bugs in your teeth whenever you want.”

If possible, her smile gets even wider. “Thank you, Jack!”

Her arms tighten around him and he grunts a response and he bites back a smile. They reach the Mediterranean Sea and he flies close enough to touch it. She does and squeals a laugh when her hand comes back wet. Above Africa, he rolls onto his back and she sits up, arms outstretched. The sun hits her like a halo and, fuck, Jack is gone on her.

“This is so beautiful!” she shouts above the rushing wind. With one hand on her hip and the other on his crook, he holds her steady and they zip into the clouds. He doesn’t spend a lot of time around the equator, but she looks like she belongs here. The smile she sends down to him is more blinding than the sun. “You’re so lucky, Jack.”

Yeah, he thinks. Yeah.

"How You Feeling Raps?"

After an oversight on one of their many winter outings, Rapunzel catches a cold.

Jack has been there to take care of her although she is against it because she does not want to be an interference with his activities.

But he doesn't care, he partly feels guilty so he helps her however he can, although in a short way because he can't spend much time with her because of his own cold temperature.

You don't know the effort he makes to not freeze the coffee every time he takes it to her room.

I was really looking forward to editing Punzie being a girl (kid) again. I think this is another AU that could be canon within our fandom. Well if you remember in the movie Gothel was always trying to intimidate and scare Punzie by telling her that bad people existed but also telling her about "monsters". I don't doubt he could talk to her about the legend of Jack but obviously for the purpose of putting fear into her. I think it's very likely that Rapunzel knows this then in the official Disney canon. I hope you like the edit it's a bit simple but I needed something similar to Jamie's scene with Jack.

Jackunzel February Special Week 4 - Winter Winter in the City

Sure, a festive sleigh ride through sprawling fields, rolling hills, and quiet, snowy forest might not be an option, but Jack and Rapunzel can still find ways to enjoy a very urban winter.

It turns out flirty and needlessly-intense snowball brawls are just as much fun at the bus stop or in the city park as they are in a frozen-over meadow. As pleasant as braving woodland trail with a thermos full of hot chocolate might sound for some, it’s equally as delightful to stroll along snow-adorned neighborhood streets, house never too far in case you need cocoa refills.

And that’s to say nothing of the decorations and festivals and cheer. Shop-lined streets could very well be wild countryside, for how many Christmas trees, holly boughs, and pine wreaths line everything in sight. In all honesty, nothing feels more lively than the darkest, coldest days of the year, with the city air filled with singing and laughing and bells and the smell of gingerbread and peppermint and wassail. There are few places better for a wintry adventure than a line of cheery gift shops with snow-covered awnings--and no place where you should keep a close eye on your bank account, for that matter.

But one year, Jack and Rapunzel’s urban winter is different. There’s snowball fights and hot chocolate and fireside storytelling and tacky Christmas gifts that break the next day, of course, but this time, something seems to have shifted by the time spring rolls around.

It probably has something to do with the fact Jack and Rapunzel have fallen back into the hand-holding habits they had as kids, insisting it’s only for warmth because “this winter is especially frigid.” Or maybe the fact they dozed off on top of each other mid-holiday-movie marathon one too many times. Or perhaps something related to them both separately paying a visit to the city’s biggest candy store and purchasing a heart-shaped box of chocolates for the other “as a joke.”

Either way, it turns into a spring of kissing under blooming trees. And they have a feeling they’ll still be doing it when next winter rolls around.

YOOOOO, last Jackunzel February Special submission!!! Alas, all good things must come to an end :( But there seems to be a Jackunzel revival as of late, so rest assured that the shameless Jackunzelposting will not be stopping anytime soon :P

Anyhoo, I have all these winter city pics that I’ve been saving basically like. As long as I’ve been making Jackunzel moodboards. And I have so many saved up I do what I always do and am like “what if I made a themed moodboard about it???”

...and so I did XD

I do love the idea of Jack and Rapunzel living in a big city, though. They seem like they’d live for the energy and liveliness of it all, and would have a great time just walking up and down a busy street and people-watching. They’d also be the kinds of people to live in a city their whole lives and still try to hit every tourist trap in it, just to have the experience XD

Continuously enamored with the idea of them at some kind of holiday market and going on a shopping spree for nothing but festive knickknacks and wintry snacks while sipping hot cocoa, and then going home and redecorating their rooms with the most maximalist winter decorations known to man <3 <3 <3
