Hi Miss Raven! Wanted to ask you if you could compile a list/chart of the total IRL time it took for a dorm arc to complete upon its release? (Like just in the JP server, not including when the ENG server compiled the books) Could you also state how long Diasomnia has been going on from when it first released to now?

Also are you guys in the 🇯🇵 server ok over there? 😭 i’m watching you guys fall apart from the chaos of Book 7 and it’s giving me anxiety over here 😭 😂

Sure thing! I tried my best to calculate the numbers but please note my values may be off by one or two days due to time zone differences.

Here is a summary of the JP server's main story updates (using irl lengths of time):

Twst JP launched on March 18th 2020. At the time of its launch, the full prologue and books 1 and 2 were avaliable.

Book 3 took a total of 24 days (April 11th 2020) to fully release, which is a little under a month. It came out in three separate updates (12, 6, and 6 days apart, respectively).

Book 4 took a total of 45 days (May 26th, 2020) to come out in full, which is month plus a few weeks on top. Like book 3, book 4 had three separate updates (27, 6, and 12 days apart, respectively).

Book 5 spans 234 days (January 15th, 2021) total, or roughly 64% of a single year. This is the first book to exceed three separate updates and instead jumps up to five separate updates (104, 13, 91, 14, and 12 days apart, respectively).

Book 6 took a shocking 464 days (April 24th, 2022), or a year plus 99 days. It had five separate updates (207, 113, 68, 20, and 56 days apart, respectively.)

ARE YOU READY FOR THE CHONKY ONE… 💀 Book 7 is 1028 DAYS AND COUNTING (since it’s still not done and we’re waiting for the next main story update). That’s 2 years, 9 months, and 22+ days, almost 3 years at this point. Book 7 has so far had a whopping fifteen separate updates and counting, as chapters 11 and 12 had multiple releases (2 for 11, 3 for 12). Updates were 212, 68, 80, 40, 70, 93, 80, 69, 62, 34, 97, 6, 10, 53, and 6 days apart, respectively. The most recent update was on February 7th, 2025.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but 😅 personally, I’m getting so worn out by book 7 being as long and content packed as it is 💦 It’s such a huge jump, especially considering that those of us here from the beginning of JP launch were used to books taking roughly a month or under a year to release in full… not multiple years. Even book 6 didn’t span more than 1 year and a few months. Book 7 is over double the irl length as book 6.

WHAT IS UP WITH RAMSHACKLE???

Idk what's going to come after Book 7, but I HOPE we get Book 8 and that it's all about Ramshackle. I want to know wtf is going on with our boi Grim and where he came from, I wanna wtf is going on with Yuu and literally their presence in twst at all (ik they were isekaid but everyone's been getting the vibe they're in twst for a reason yk), and I wanna know what the hell that scene at the veryyyy beginning of the game with Crowley(?) and the dark mirror was all about (or maybe that'll be explained in Book 7?)

Most importantly, I want to know what the fuck is going on with Ramshackle dorm itself. Perhaps that should not be my priority, but look, I like spooky dorm lore, and I also think there's too many weird things about it to ignore.

Something that's embedded itself into my brain since I first found twst in 2020 is the ghosts that reside there. I sure do think it's interesting that ghosts who have confirmed to be students are haunting an abandoned dorm. The other ghosts we have met are all adults, such as the chef ghosts, the cafeteria ghosts, etc.

Crowley says Ramshackle dorm was abandoned because the ghosts there kept pranking and scaring the students away... but I really don't believe that. Ghosts are the norm in twst and I doubt either staff or students are incapable of getting the ghosts to screw off. They've been quiet pleasant to Yuu and Grim after the prologue, after all.

I find it more likely that whatever it was that caused their deaths is what led to Ramshackle dorm being abandoned and left standing where it is instead of just... getting rid of it? You could argue it's a part of the school's history, but if that were the case, it shouldn't have been left to rot at all.

The presence of a TWO GRAVES on Ramshackle's grounds is something very ominous and not talked about nearly enough.

Look, before and after Ramshackle was repaired:

Those are definitely graves/tombstones. I do find it very kind and respectful that the tombstones were either restored or replaced and given a better "site," so to speak, but I still find it strange that they're there at all. Remember, we have way more than two ghosts at Ramshackle, and though these could belong to two of them, idk why there's just two and not graves for all of them.

Some people have theorised that our beloved boi Skully was actually a Ramshackle student, as his portrait shows him wearing the nightmare suit even though he isn't "lost in the book." Was that Ramshackle's uniform? I wouldn't be surprised if Skully went to a dorm called Ramshackle with a uniform like that tbh. But if one grave belongs to him, then who does the other grave belong to?

Something else I've always found interesting about Ramshackle dorm is the fact that it doesn't have a mirror or a pocket dimension by extension. It exists on school grounds, in the corner, far away and out of the sight and minds of the rest of the campus:

It's also tiny compared to the other dormitories. If you were to take the physical dorm buildings themselves out of the pocket dimensions and plonk them next to Ramshackle, all of them would dwarf it in size. It just doesn't feel like a dorm. In fact, it feels more like an on-site house or a home that could belong to even a staff member.

Grim and Yuu are mysteries, but the Ramshackle dorm is even more of a mystery to me. Why is it haunted by the ghosts of students who don't seem to ever leave the dorm? Why are there two graves, and who do they belong to? Why was it really abandoned? Why does it seem to be in a permanent state of decay? (Even after renovation, the land around Ramshackle is very dull and lifeless.)

Why doesn't it have its own mirror and pocket dimension? What was the uniform like? What were the requirements/"Shape of thy soul" to be assigned there? Who was the dorm based on, if not one of the great seven? Maybe a "smaller" historical figure like Noble Bell College with Frollo? What the fuck is up with that mirror in Yuu's room and those visions and Mickey? (Mr Mouse, you BETTER be plot relevant and not Disney nostalgia/IP bait) Does the fact that Yuu and Grim are students officially staying in the dorm mean the dorm is open again? Are students able to be placed there next year?

Why does it seem that this dorm just completely disappeared from NRC's history and memory despite being there the whole time???
