This one might take more like a week and a half, rather than the under one week speeds I've been doing, to give me a chance to lay the groundwork for the last 11 chapters.

Jason Gideon is so dad coded and here are my reasons:

dad shaped - this truth is self-evident and self-explanatory

special interest - some dads like model trains, this dad likes birds

gives generously to his kids - in s1e5 "broken mirror", he peels an orange and Elle snatched the first piece and then like any good parent he passed out the rest to the kiddos without keeping any for himself

protective - in s1e6 "ldsk", there's a sniper shooting and his first instinct is to throw himself on top of JJ to protect her. in s1e8 "natural born killer", when that organized crime agent is yelling at Hotch, Jason comes and checks on him, makes sure he's okay.

proud dad - the little proud smile he gives Spencer when the boy declares checkmate in s1e4 "plain sight". in "ldsk" he specifically tells Spence that he's proud of him while consoling him about having to shoot the unsub

comforting - the whole scene in "natural born killer" where he undoes Hotch's tie with the whole "undo your tie for once in your life". plus the way Morgan sends him directly to Gideon over his nightmares in s1e10 "the popular kids" AND THEN JASON GIVES HIM THE PHOTO, absolute chefs kiss. especially too when he pulls Spencer close when they're pulling the girl's body from the water in s1e12 "what fresh hell?".

Okay so I strongly disagree when ppl say Kie is doing "boy-hopping"... sorry, thats just pure misogyny and double standards to me.

John B kissed her (and she didnt kiss him back), then got together with Sarah like 2 episodes later and noone says he is doing "girl-hopping". Sarah is a serial cheater and yet noone calls her out on this.

Kie is together with one (1) guy and supposedly gonna be together with another one in S3 and suddenly she is a boy-hopper?? I just dont get this fandom sometimes.

I said the writer’s wrote her that way. I wasn’t specifically addressing John B’s character in my last post so I obviously didn’t talk about him but yeah, he totally was into Kie and then did a 180 the second Sarah showed an ounce of interest in him. I’m not gonna randomly mention him in a post about Kiara. Also, we don’t know that Sarah is a serial cheater…Wheezie has a clear crush on Topper when she tells him Sarah cheated with him (something he should presumably know as he would’ve been the ‘other guy’) and unfortunately she went from one toxic relationship (Topper) to another (John B). But I’ll say that it’s shit to see both women on the show reduced to their romantic relationships with men.

I think Kiara has the potential to be a really cool character but she’s reduced to a side kick with a barely there subplot that honestly revolves around who she likes. They all speculate that she likes John B and she shots him down but then still kinda seems into him and then also seems into JJ but then pity-dates Pope because he threw a tantrum in s1e9? (She honestly doesn’t like him at all and it’s clear throughout s1 and s2 (so far) that she’s only dating him because he got stuck with him after she kissed him in s1 and doesn’t feel like breaking up with him)

I just think…what do we know about Kiara? Honestly? That she loves the environment, is basically a rich privileged kid slumming it with pogues (John B’s words) and that she (I guess) likes JJ but dated Pope? I think the writers did a shitty job of creating a three-dimensional character and instead gave us someone who is only what other people view her as being so I don’t think it’s the fandom’s fault that they project back onto her the shit lot she got in her made-up life.

Sorry I’m sobbing the first scene of the episode with Sarah screaming I can’t😭 Rafe is so delusional it’s actually scary. Like the drugs are doing something crazy to him. He’s incredibly dangerous like jesus. Ward is a manipulative lil bitch.
