[ IF HE LIKES TO PLAY GOD does he have a religious background? his family were church-goers, which built up to his fascination to "God?" -unsure if it'd show up somehow in victimology...- i'm just reminded of this episode where this sk had a father who was so religious he burned a cross into his kid's forehead jhdjka ANYWAY i think he could be an atheist too? at first, then he's like-- well if these ppl beg for god for much, i'll be their god or smth... what u think TELL ME MOARRR ]

ooc: jf;lkasjdfajfdkla STOP ENABLING ME… anyway, Gradeus’ last name is Greek (at least, the one I chose for him) and most of it seems to be Christian Orthodox. I feel like his family probably were pretty loose with the practising, in any case… enough for him to be able to grasp the concept of what a God was, but not enough for him to consider it his own, by any means. Because obvious “Thou shalt not kill” never made it through his skull… 

I imagine that he was just obsessed with the supernatural and the paranormal, in general? I mean, personally, I’ve always had a good time reading through horror rituals... like, there are some dumb urban legends like the “lift that leads to another world” story, but then there are some rituals that are actually decently convincing... well not really “convincing” but fun to read and legitimately a bit scary to imagine? I always loved THE MAN IN THE FIELDS ritual. The paranormal, Gradeus would definitely develop some sort of obsession with... that manifests itself in a lot of research and maybe even some ballsy attempts at carrying some of the rituals out when he was younger. C’mon, the benefits of WISHING HARM UPON YOUR HATED, without any consequence? Please. He would adore it.

In his older years, (later teens) he probably is like “um no thanks” because he views it as a little... cultist? tbh. But damn if he isn’t perfect cultist material...

He really refuses to identify as anything, or even think about it. Years of growing up with a family who claimed this or that about a God, but never did any tradition or showed any commitment to demonstrating their faith to said God... it’s just left a sort of “whatever” impression on him. He doesn’t have any opinion whatsoever. I’d pin him as agnostic, probably.

I can only see him making the connection in the middle of one of his mur-diddly-uuurder sessions like “oh boy doing all this is like being a god haha” — five hours later “ OH D AMN YEAH IT’S LIKE BEING A GOD ISN’T THAT COOL”

After that, he probably makes some effort to read into some Christian lore, go through texts of other religions (Greek. Nordic. He’s not picky, he likes the material in general). But he doesn’t ever view it as anything more than just lore. Occasionally, he plays an attempt at poetry and may draw parallels with one of his sadistic ventures with something in one of the texts or scriptures he’s read... but it’s more of a side obsession. And something he thinks of during his torture/murder sessions as something poetic and wonderful and dramatic. He may or may not act upon those thoughts? and get even more extreme in those moments, or make some move directly brought on by the thoughts of those parallels... I can see him saying some really messed up shit, maybe blabbing some convoluted verses at times. But he’s not going to do any crucifixion roleplay with his victims anytime soon...

... though. I remembered a scene from OUTLAST 2 and would adore hearing Gradeus singing this. It just has that delightfully twisted, dark religious feel to it... and I can’t believe this is a legit song that we of the faith sometimes sing... sobs I’m Catholic and I think... it’s too much...
