It’s the way Jesse and Nacho not only being capable of developing a deep mutual understanding and having an inclination to be considerate to each other (because their interaction would be more on the comfortable side and there’s no actual bad blood) but also unknowingly providing one another with what they lack in their lives respectively that will always make me wanna pull my hair out and rock back and forth in a corner and go crazy over this ship. Best example of the latter is Nacho recognizing what Jesse is capable of and how intelligent he can be, at the same time seeing that he’s hindered by his independence being stripped off and his wits often overlooked, hence him getting frustrated for Jesse and would advocate for him every time he could, though he’d find it difficult to explain this passion that he thinks comes out of nowhere. On Jesse’s end, just him being himself and standing his ground in the face of bad authority for his own and others’ sake (including Nacho himself) is enough to reignite that hope inside Nacho and keep him sane. This is the kind of hope that Nacho has accepted as lost forever after multiple adversities, but Jesse helps him regain that. It could be hope for better days, hope in humanity, hope that enkindles life. In any other perspective, it’d come off as ironic to have hope in a person as young as Jesse getting caught up in the turbulence of crimes and drugs, but THE POINT is a person who isn’t a blood-thirsty, power-obsessed maniac and still able to retain the rationality to protect innocence has appeared in Nacho’s world at last, and I wouldn’t doubt the possibility of Nacho having to enter that world when he’s younger out of necessity tbh.

Btw you’d be dead wrong if you seriously think there is no intensity between them. I can guarantee you that they’re still two vastly different characters with clashing views who are tackling each other onto the ground and clashing teeth to sort things out, but this is only because they know neither of them reigns over the other, and they each thinks the other is worthy of said intensity.

Seeing people decide to watch Breaking Bad based on the Tumblr memes is especially funny when they do it specifically for the memes about Jesse, because... well, let's put it this way. Aaron Paul, the guy who played Jesse, was nominated for a Primetime Emmy award for best supporting actor in a drama series for his work on Breaking Bad on five separate occasions, including twice in one season, and won three of those nominations. He was the first person ever to win that award three times for the same role. Like, Jesse's storyline is so viscerally unpleasant that it set industry records.
