Hobie's favorite movie is The Warriors (1979) he and some of his other punk homies caught a 1 am smuggled viewing of it at some dilapidated and reclaimed theater and he's been hooked ever since.
He quotes it under his breath during fights as SpiderPunk. When he's chilling at home, lines from the script creep over his skin. He mimics the Cyrus speech to mock Miguel when he dog ass is ranting at a debrief.
He quotes a line from it in front of Jefferson one times while teasing Miles and is surprised when Jeff finishes the line. (Bro you are a teenaged old head)
He 1000% fanboy and makes a customized replica of one of the vests. He wears it when he's chilling out at his place.
The opening scene guitar riffs are his go-to for warms ups before a preformance
Gives Miles a big lift-u-off-the-ground hug when he gifts Hobie with a spray painted tapestry of some of his favorite scenes.
Owns the movie on DVD, USB, VHC TAPE, Theater Reels. Has MULTIPLE annotated copies of the book.
Also his fav character is Cochise. He most definitely saw Cochise be cool asf and supportive the whole movie and was like "Yep, this is gonna be my entire personality until someone ends my life" like Hobie acts EXACTLY like Cochise (save for the whole being distracted by hot chicks thing)
Gwen was forced to watch it on her 2nd night staying at his place and fell asleep to Hobie rambling film analysis and how punk ideologies apply to each character and plot point of the film.
He has a love-hate relationship about Ajax because while Ajak was fucking wrong, the guy was a fucking fighter to the end in a way that Hobie can't help but respect (also he had the best lines)
This film reminds the others arachteens that Hobie is very much not of their time but very much a geeky teenager
(Miles has a sit down Convo with him about it, there are words and phrases you cant stay in public in our modern day anymore. )
#all spidermen ARE FUCKING GEEKS#my dads a old and head and literally sunk into grimy ass premire of this movie by genetics this is also my fav movie#Hobie would be 100% down for the plot of this film#this is a very punk film to me. ut not in a obvious way#hobie brown#spiderman astv#atsv hobie#hobie brown headcanons#movie rant#the warriors 1979#and the fact that this movie takes place in Hobie's time frame is just chefkiss to me#miles morales#1610 miles morales#spiderman into the spiderverse#spiderman across the spiderverse#spider punk

First of all: congratulations on 200 followers!!
I had this idea some time ago of Alex doing the kiss your best friend tiktok challenge with Willie so this is my promt ig♡
thank u !!!!! and thank u for this prompt it was SO fun to do and i’ve been thinking about it since u sent it in bc i was so excited abt it lol
i did something a lil funky with this one, because i really like the idea of this as a premise for a smau, but i couldn’t pull enough plot together to make a Full one, so! this is just a lil oneshot (with a smau part and a written part) and in the future i think i’ll probably add onto this universe!!!
is it gay to kiss the homies
Alex is probably way more nervous about this than he should be, but honestly, what else is new. And it’s not like he doesn’t have a reason to be nervous, so it’s completely justified.
At least, that’s what he tells himself when he wipes his palms on his sweatpants for the third time in, like, two minutes. Willie’s watching him with a soft look on their face, curled in the corner of his couch.
“Dude, what’s up? You’ve been pacing since you got here,” they say eventually, leaning forward to grab his wrist. His brows are raised and his face is so open and kind and inviting and fuck Luke for suggesting this in the first place.
“I, um,” Alex finally starts. His throat feels like literal sandpaper. “I have a favor to ask you.”
Willie nods. “Okay.”
“And you don’t have to say yes,” Alex adds. “I don’t expect you to say yes, and I promise I wouldn’t be offended if you said no, but I--”
“Hey,” Willie says, sliding their hand down from Alex’s wrist to twine their fingers together. “The only favor I’d say no to from you would be, like, saying something nice about Jeff Bezos. You know I’d do anything for you.”
Alex huffs a pathetic laugh and pulls his phone out of his pocket to fiddle with it. “So, uh, Luke wanted me to ask you if you’d be cool with doing a TikTok with me.”
There’s a long beat of silence. Alex keeps his eyes down, heart racing because this is dumb of course he won’t want to it’s not like they like you back, idiot--
“Is that it?” Willie asks, their voice light. “I’ve done TikToks with you before, ‘Lex, of course I’m cool with it.”
He does sound like he’s cool with it, too, which should probably make Alex less nervous, but then again they don’t know what the video’s gonna be, yet, so the anxiously swirling butterflies in his stomach and the loud pounding of his heart are totally allowed to be there.
“Right,” he forces a smile. “Yeah, sorry.”
Willie shrugs, an easy grin stretching their lips. “Don’t worry about it. So, what’re we doing?”
Alex sucks in a sharp breath. “Um, I’m not supposed to tell you? Obviously I can if you want me to, and I definitely won’t post it if you’re not chill with it, but Luke said that telling you won’t make it as good, and he really wants this one to be. Good. So.”
“Alright,” they say lightly. “As long as it’s not a jumpscare, that’s fine. Where do you want me?”
“Right there is fine,” Alex says. He sits down heavily on the couch beside Willie and takes a minute to fuss over the placement of his phone on the coffee table.
When he finally gets it situated and has the camera open to film this disaster in the making, he catches sight of Willie watching him with soft eyes and a warm smile. The sight brings a light blush to his cheeks, so he presses record and leans back, ducking his head.
“You’re not gonna, like, edit this afterward to make me look weird, right?” Willie teases.
Alex rolls his eyes and turns to face them as the song starts playing from his phone. “No,” he says, trying to bite back a smile. “Of course not.”
Willie grins. “Good. That would be pretty rude, honestly.”
I can’t let you go now that I’ve got it.
It’s probably unhealthy, Alex thinks, how fast his heart is beating right now. Willie’s bobbing their head back and forth, humming along under his breath, and Alex shuffles closer to them just in time to catch a glimpse of a knowing smile on their lips.
All I need is to be struck--
“Can I?” Alex asks in a whisper. Willie grins.
By--
“Can you what?” he says, a teasing glint in his deep brown eyes.
Your electric--
Before Alex can respond, the music crescendos and Willie’s eyes flutter shut. He’s still smiling, even while they lean in and crash their lips against Alex’s.
Love.

Pony - a Jeffrey Dean Morgan fanfiction
I’ve always wanted to write a story from JDM’s POV, especially when it comes to eating 🐱, because I imagine he’d be really good at it. I also got really lost in this when writing it and got insanely turned on, so I hope y’all feel the same way!
@negans-attagirl @happysgal @iluvneganandjamie @mrsnegan
I had grown out my beard for the newest season of The Walking Dead. Negan was going to be in prison for the next year, so I had to look the part. I also hate shaving, so this was my dream come true. I was also promoting my new movie Rampage with my buddy Dwayne. Dwayne Johnson, that is.
My gal also loved the long, grayness of it all. She had been texting me flirty things all day from the hotel room and it was absolutely driving me wild. It’s damn near impossible to do press junkets with a raging hard on.
“Reading the script, this is exactly the movie I’ve always wanted to-“ my phone pings loudly, “Aw, shit. I’m sorry, man. I meant to turn my phone on silent. Cut!” I joke and glance at the text from my Princess: I want to ride your beard like a pony, Daddy. I exhale loudly and shove my phone in my pocket.
“You good, homie?” Dwayne asks.
“Yeah, I’m fine, thanks! Just family stuff,” I reply. My pants were painfully tight in the crotch at this point. “Anyway, where were we?” I place my glasses on top of my head. “It’s just one of those classic popcorn flicks, you know?”
The interview seemed to drag on as my phone silently buzzed with filthy messages and pictures. What a dirty girl I had.
***
“What the fuck was that?” I smile at my gal. She looks adorable in my hoodie and her short shorts.
“Did I do something?” she replies, feigning innocence as she slides her legs between mine, running a finger over my lips and kissing me. My breath quavers as she moans into my mouth.
“Teasing Daddy while he’s trying to work. Bad, bad girl,” I groan as she grips my balls gently as she nibbles my neck. She reaches into her back pocket and I hear a jingling sound. A puzzled expression takes over my face, “What do you have there, Princess?”
“Since you’re going to prison for the next year,” she giggles and pulls a pair of handcuffs from behind her, “Maybe you should get used to wearing these bad boys.”
“You think you’re in charge, hm? Might I remind you who your Daddy is-“ I smirk. She grips my throat, cutting me off by making me lose my breath.
“I’m in charge tonight,” she growls. “Lay on the bed, Daddy. Flat on your back, come on,” she commands, snapping her fingers.
“Yes, Mistress,” I do as I’m told. My gal meant business. I look up at her as she walks around the bed.
“Good boy. Don’t move,” she praises. She strips her clothes, revealing a skimpy, crotchless number. I hold out my hand to pull her into a lustful kiss. “I said, ‘don’t move’. Did you not hear me?” Her stern tone sends a chill down my spine. She sucks my finger and throws my hand back on the bed. I giggle like a little kid, her dominant streak was amusing. This role reversal was going to be fun. “Is something funny, Jeffrey Dean? Take your shirt off.” I follow her orders and she grabs my arm and cuffs one hand to the headboard, then the other. She pulls my glasses off, folding them and placing them on the nightstand.
“You sound like my mother,” I smirk.
“Oh, so I’m ‘Mommy’ now?” she bites her lip, trying not to laugh and stay in character. I glance at my cuffed hands.
“What are you going to do, baby gi- I mean, Mistress?” I ask. She leans down and laps around my nipples. I suck my teeth, god that felt good.
“I’m going to make you my fuck toy tonight,” she moans in my ear. She climbs on the bed, straddling my chest. I could feel the slickness of her dripping pussy, leaving a small damp spot in my chest hair. “If it’s too much, just tap my thigh hard three times”. I felt like I was about to bust out of my jeans, but she made it clear I only existed for her pleasure. I felt more submissive than I ever have in bed with her and it was so fucking hot.
“Baby doll, I don’t think I could ever get enough of your pussy,” I moan. She inched closer to my face. My breath was hot against her inner folds, giving her chills. “I’m ready,” I murmur. She smelled utterly scrumptious. The Tommy Hilfiger perfume coupled with her salty, sweet wetness was intoxicating. She pressed my head between her deliciously thick thighs as she rocked against my mouth. I wanted so bad to squeeze her ass to bring her closer, but I wasn’t allowed.
“Jeffrey,” she whimpers my name. I’m lost in a sea of bliss. I love making her feel like the goddess she is. “Your beard feels so fucking good. Oh Daddy!” I smirk and go back to work. I circle my tongue around her clit, sucking it between my lips. She grasps my hair as my head gets squished a little tighter. I chuckle softly to myself, I know that means I’m doing my job right. I lick a stripe from her entrance to her precious jewel. “God, your gray hair drives me insane,” her hips rock faster and I try to match her movements with my mouth.
“Does it now? You love that I’m old enough to be your dad? You love with age comes,” I kiss around her drenched inner lips, “Experience. You love that I take care of you, don’t you, Princess? Daddy loves you.”
“Fuck yes, baby. Oh my god!” her thighs begin to tremble and the familiar throbbing sensation begins like a faint drumbeat from deep inside her walls. I squirm beneath her, wanting release so bad, but I’m not allowed. “Please let me cum, Jeff! Please!”
“You’re in charge, remember?”
“Jeff, I’m going to drown you in my-“
“Fucking drown me, doll. I won’t waste a single drop. God, you taste so sweet.“
“Jeffrey!” my gal screamed out as her juices soaked my beard. I lap my tongue like someone who hadn’t drank water in weeks. She shakily slides down my chest, grabbing the key from the nightstand. She unlocks the handcuffs and collapses onto my chest. I pull her into a kiss.
“Making you feel good,” I say in between kisses, “Makes me feel good. I would go wash my face, but tasting you in my mustache turns me on all over again. You sure have a yummy little treat there, sugar. I love the shit out of you.”
“I love you too,” my gal is still catching her breath.

BDaMan’s Show Log: 4/12/2019
*The following takes place on Friday, April 12th, 2019.* 8:40am - After hitting snooze on my alarm plenty of times, I think it's finally time to get moving. 10:14am - As I'm deciding on what to do for the day, I think about how just days ago, there wasn't any snow on the ground and now days later, here we are. I very rarely this close this, but I tend to have issues with being motivated during the winter time. Case in point being the winter of 2017 (My song, "Beauty In The Struggle" comes from that winter). When it's consistently cloudy and all you see is snow for a bulk of the year, it makes it difficult on some days to get up and get out and just get moving. 11:30am - Considering I don't currently have any form of caffeine nor any easy options for lunch, I think it’s time to go back to sleep for a little nap. If I’m gonna rock the stage tonight, I need to get my body decently rested. 2:45pm – Slept a little longer than I planned, but I feel a lot better than I was this morning. Time to get a little bit of lunch – or more of a mini-snack at this point. As I’m coming back from the gas station, I noticed the music manager/homie, Jeff called me a couple of times. Phone was on silent, so I didn’t even see he called. After about 5 minutes after I called him back, he calls back and we chat about the show among other things. Sounds like he’s equally ready for tonight as well. 4:17pm - Dee messages all of us who are doing the show tonight, just to run down a few extra details for the show. B Dot (B.Allen) and I previously met Dee at a show we all did together, coincidentally enough at Club Underground back in 2016. 4:41pm - My lovely girlfriend, Nikki texts me, wishing me luck on tonight's show. Her “Break a leg at your shoe” typo had me cracking up once I re-read it. 5:27pm - To go along with my shirt choice for tonight, I'm getting in that zone by watching some DX stuff! A now-Hall of Fame group in WWE has been a big inspiration for B Dot and I throughout the years (no matter how much B Dot hates on Triple H...) in various ways. Soon enough, it'll be time to ask myself those three words that Triple H asks before that infamous intro. 6:47pm – B Dot lets me know he’s running behind with various errands, so getting there closer to 7:30 would be best. Shortly after, I give Jeff a call to update him on getting to B Dot’s and he gets ready to leave to pick me up. 7:33pm - Jeff is outside, meaning it's time to head to B Dot's, but first a pit stop to get some energy drinks. Also, I know we're late if B Dot is asking where we at lol. 8pm – We’ve arrived at B Dot’s! As usual, his crazy (but great) dog, Nina is hyper at the arrival of people. B Dot, Jeff and I chatted about a good amount of things from tonight’s show, current music (local and non-local) to the eventual Madden rematch that B Dot and Jeff have to have. 8:45pm – It’s about that time! Posse out! En route to the venue. 8:50pm - I'm pretty sure B Dot and Melanie are gonna beat us to the show lol. The GPS gave us the longer way to the venue. 9:05pm - We all have arrived in our separate cars! We actually got there the same time that B Dot and Melanie got there. Right when we walk downstairs to the venue portion, we immediately see Dee and chat it up with him, thanking him again for the opportunity. Shortly after, we briefly chat with Josh (Booker at Club Underground) while he’s checking our IDs. As he does a double take at our IDs (due to the same government name/different spelling thing), I remind him that he previously met us in July of 2017 after the last Club Underground show we did with Breakneck. I take a brief separate moment to check in on him, as he was recently in the hospital for a few health related things. He seems to be in positive spirits, so that’s definitely a plus! 9:25pm - Never have I rushed so fast to get a beer...I'm hoping this future investment is worth it. I can’t disclose too much of it at the moment, but this idea that Jeff has is a bit out of my price bracket right now. 9:40pm - In an effort to fix up my mood, I decide to chat with B Dot and Melanie. I give B Dot a brief general idea about Jeff’s future investment idea, and while he’s all for it, he also brings up a very solid point: we have to get back to basics first and foremost by linking up more with each other (and other music oriented people) and create music first, worry about other things later. 10:06pm - Ben Jammin K is up now. He has a very similar style that reminds me of another music acquaintance. 10:23pm - Mistah is up now. I’ve known of Mistah for awhile now, but hadn’t met him officially until this show. Glad to put a face to the social media presence I’ve seen. I’m digging the music I’m hearing from him! 10:50pm - Verb is up now. I really dig his style – raw and rugged, but still pretty chill with the bars. A hybrid West Coast-East Coast vibe! 11:12pm - Synergy Centric is up now. The show is moving along pretty fast and smooth! Pretty soon, I gotta get myself in that zone... 11:29pm - Dee lets B Dot and I know that we're up immediately after Synergy Centric's last song. Time to throw these shades on and do the damn thang! 11:50pm - And another show down! Aside from a sound mishap, we left our all on the stage! We literally left our voices on the stage, which is a first for myself in awhile and a first for B Dot. In the words of Dave Chapelle, “Modern problems require modern solutions.” Time to get home, eat and rest my voice...

Q&A: Atlanta Producer-Turned-Artist Childish Major Is Proving He Can Do it All
Photo: Albert Pham
When it comes to the world of hip-hop, making a name for yourself as a rapper or producer is certainly no easy feat. Then there are people like Childish Major who make it look easy, as the Grammy-nominated artist is quickly making a name for himself as both a rapper and producer. The Atlanta native originally gained notoriety for producing for some of today’s hottest artists, including Future, Rocko, SZA, 6LACK, and most notably J. Cole. In 2017, Childish shifted gears to release his impeccable debut as a solo artist, WOO$AH.
Featuring appearances from SZA, Isaiah Rashad, DRAM, 6LACK, and even production from J. Cole, the debut was an applauded introduction to one of hip-hop’s newest rising stars. Now, as Childish steps into the limelight as both a producer and artist, he has his eyes set on every facet of the creative industry. Whether it be art, fashion, cooking, or acting, there’s not a realm the artist isn’t poised to tackle. We caught up with the renaissance man, producing extraordinaire, and now artist Childish Major to explore his past, present, and bright future.
OTW: You’re a pretty well-respected producer outside of your own solo music career. You’ve produced for Future, Rick Ross, Rome Fortune, and Arin Ray among others. How has the transition from producing to rapping been?
Childish Major: It happened kind of naturally. Producing wasn’t fulfilling enough as far as my passion went. I just started writing for myself and it became therapy. It became another level of creativity that I was enjoying. As far as making people see that, it was a little bit more difficult but we made it happen.
OTW: You used to rap when you were younger in Atlanta. What made you change your mind and pursue it full-time at this point in your career?
Childish Major: I mean it was something that I’ve always been doing, but I wasn’t always pressing play on people like, “check my record out.” Over time, I built the confidence when I saw people’s reaction to the music.
OTW: How’d you get the name for your debut solo project, WOO$AH? What does it mean to you?
Childish Major: Woosah is what you do to calm down, chill out, and relax yourself. It’s a peace thing. But for me, the project is just talking about the things that I went through: being a young producer in the industry and the mindset of what I thought it would be. I thought, “Okay, you got a hit record; that automatically means you’re a millionaire,” but that’s not the case. Thinking about the stuff that you go through and trying to hold relationships in the industry. It’s just me telling myself to calm down.
youtube
OTW: What was it like taking a step back and having others produce your tracks instead of being in the driver’s seat?
Childish Major: I’m such a fan of people so it wasn’t that difficult. I think I’m doing it myself now a lot more because I’m getting better at producing for myself. I have to learn how to produce for both others and myself so it’s just a part of the process.
OTW: Are you one to stay away from hip-hop while you’re working on these projects, so as not to get distracted from your own particular sound?
Childish Major: I definitely study. I try not to study new stuff though. When I was working on my first project, I would study the greats and their first projects. I would study the type of information and level of information that they were giving. The production is subjective to me -- content is more important.
OTW: Now that you’re both a producer and artist, do you have any thought on how hard it is a producer to receive the due credit they deserve?
Childish Major: Yeah, I think a lot of them don’t get the credit they deserve just because of their approach. I feel like my approach is different. I go in with the mindset that I’m going to make hit records, and I honestly feel like I’m making hit records.
OTW: If you could produce for anyone who would it be? If you could jump on anyone’s production who would it be?
Childish Major: I would produce for Frank Ocean and jump on The Neptunes’ production.
OTW: Speaking of being fans of people, you’re a big fan of Pharrell?
Childish Major: Yeah, Pharrell’s been an inspiration since as long as I can remember. I was listening to his music and figured out that he was one of the masterminds behind The Neptunes. I fell in love with the sound and I started doing research. Then I figured that he was into fashion, art, and all these other aspects of creativity and it’s just inspiring man. He’s a genius. So why not tap into that? Why do something if you don’t want to be the greatest? In my eyes, he was the greatest.
OTW: Are there any other facets of the creative industry that you want to delve into one day?
Childish Major: I draw. I want to do fashion, acting, it’s a lot. Soundtracks, I cook, I’m going to have a cooking show one day. I enjoy doing different things. I bike ride.
OTW: Didn’t you do a soundtrack for something recently?
Childish Major: Oh yeah! A documentary on BET about the history of labels. I forgot about that. I need to write down everything that I do. My mindset is just head down working.
OTW: Speaking more on your soundtracking work, what was it like hearing your song on the season finale of the HBO show Insecure?
Childish Major: Crazy because I watched the first season and I was a fan. I told myself that I was going to get on there. I didn’t know that it was going to be to that capacity where it’d be my vocals on the show and then having a minute spot with no dialogue. We was calling each other like, “Yo! Do you see this shit!?” Shit was crazy.
OTW: You were on tour with CyHi and Big KRIT, how was that whole experience?
Childish Major: It’s been great. A great learning experience.
OTW: In a previous interview, you said that you feel like you bombed your first performance as a rapper. Do you feel like you’ve redeemed yourself?
Childish Major: Oh yeah, most definitely. That wasn’t my very first show, but it was one of my early shows and I bombed it. I was actually opening for Big KRIT in Atlanta. It was just a moment where I had a conversation with my manager, Jeff. “Alright, this is it. You either want it or you don’t. You’re going to fight for it this point on or you’re going to take the L and lose.” I was up for the challenge, so I used the little garage area where we keep all the sodas and water bottles and practiced in front of a mirror. It helped me get to the point we’re at right now.
OTW: I hear that you have a relationship with J.Cole and the Dreamville guys?
Childish Major: It started off with my relationship with EarthGang and J.I.D and they introduced me to Cole. From meeting Cole, I met the rest of the team and they just took me in. So I’m just like the adopted Dreamville kid. Those are all the homies though. They show nothing but love and I do the same.
OTW: J.Cole also produced “Supply Luh” right?
Childish Major: Yeahhh.
youtube
OTW: Speaking more on WOO$AH, you’ve got some great artists with you on there. SZA and Isaiah Rashad for starters. Can you speak on how that came together?
Childish Major: When I was first produced “U.O.E.N.O,” it was around the same time that Isaiah Rashad had announced his signing to TDE. I reached out based on that, and then he would pull up on me whenever he was in Atlanta. We built this friendship that eventually became this brotherhood. A lot of times when we were talking, it wasn’t even about music. When I was making a transition from producer to artist, I would test out records on him and get his opinion. “Happy Birthday” was one of the joints that stuck out to him enough to point where he wanted to get on the record but he also wanted to use it for his own project. I’ve known SZA from the “Green Mile” (Z) project. He got her on it and then I hit her up to clear it.
OTW: I feel like Hip-Hop’s one of the few genres where collaborations are expected and applauded. You don’t really see that in other typical genres. Why do you think that is?
Childish Major: There are two sides to it. I love collaboration because that’s how you get new sounds. That’s how you get new vibes and new feels. It’s that aspect but then you also got the clout aspect. I really love it when it’s something organic and it has a story behind it.
OTW: Speaking further on the collaborations, there’s “I Like You” with 6LACK and DRAM. Major fan of that track.
Childish Major: Yeaaaah. “I Like You” is the joint! I appreciate that man. 6LACK, I’ve known him from being in Atlanta. He used to always pull up before he had anything going on. He’d just always pull up to the studio, same thing as Isaiah. Sometimes we might not even work but when we did work it was always dope. DRAM hopped on the record first because he came through the studio and we were feeling each other out. We played him “I Like You”, I muted all my vocals, and he did a take through the whole record. From there, I just took his bits and pieces and did what a producer does and move it in the places that I felt needed it. Got 6LACK to do a verse and that was it.
OTW: What can we expect after WOO$AH?
Childish Major: More personal records. You’re going to get to know me more but at the same time you’re going to have fun.
OTW: With Kendrick Lamar winning the Pulitzer, do you think hip-hop is getting more recognition? What do you think of hip-hop’s place in the world today?
Childish Major: Everything takes bits and pieces from hip-hop. It’s everything. It literally is the culture. Whether it’s the way people talk, carry themselves, dress, and all these high fashion brands. They’re taking graffiti art and putting it on their clothes. It’s literally everything.
OTW: What are your hopes for yourself as an artist in the future? What are your hopes for hip-hop?
Childish Major: For hip-hop, for it to just be continued to become the biggest thing that the world has seen. It’s going to keep evolving and changing. I just want to make sure that I’m a part of that. I want to be a staple in music itself and hip-hop for sure. It’s not just about being a household name, but I want kids that come after me and the people that came before me to know that he changed things.
OTW: Who are your Ones to Watch?
Childish Major: There’s this kid from Atlanta named Talib Matin. He’s dope. I’m listening to a lot of alternative. Jakob Ogawa, Clairo, Still Woozy.

SCRATCHTHEBLOCK PRESENTS: VOODOO JAZZ
Stetsasonic, Guru, Digable Planets,A Tribe Called Quest,Preemo, Buckshot LeFonque , Jazz Liberatorz are just a few names of artists which contributed to spread a distinctive hip-hop sound wisely mixed with jazz sample or jazz instrumentations!
What we love most about jazz-hop music is the noble attempt to resume some incredible jazz records in order to make them immortal as well as the entire organic process when it comes to produce with live instrumentation, you know The Roots, Robert Glasper Experiment, Butcher Brown,The Pollyseeds or alternative U.K duo Yussef Kamaal.
So today we invite y’all to come on board , for another exciting trip through hip-hop and jazz sonorities with da new selection: Voodoo Jazz.
MADLIB FEAT. M.E.D. – PLEASE SET ME AT EASE
In 2003 legendary jazz label Blue Note teamed up with hip-hop luminary Otis Jackson, Jr. aka Madlib to deliver a superlative opus titled Shades Of Blue. The fantastic oeuvre is a well-appointed attempt to recalibrate some glorious records performed by artists from the Blue Note team, all mixed and transformed into a modern-day hip-hop retelling . The Beat Konducta gave us another proof of his immeasurable skills sampling the who’s who of jazz music such as Ronnie Foster,Donald Byrd,Bobby Hutcherson and Horace Silver among others. Scratchtheblock squad selected for y’all the impressive Please Set Me At Ease recorded sampling a 1975 piece by Texas eclectic jazz flautist/singer Bobbi Humphrey. For the occasion Madlib recruited hip-hop emcee M.E.D.
DOMO GENESIS – CASHMERE (PRODUCED BY MICHAEL UZOWURU)
Inglewood rapper Domo Genesis made a splash last year with the album Genesis counting on da support of Tyler The Creator, Cam O’bi,Mike & Keys behind the boards and special guests such as Anderson.Paak,Mac Miller, JMSN and Tay Walker just to name a few. This year the Odd Future soldier dropped another good work called Red Corolla recruiting some heavyweight like Hi-Tek,Evidence and J.Rawls. The today’s topic is jazz-hop , so let’s take a walk down memory lane with a piece included on an unofficial Odd Future compilation called Odd Future Unreleased Vol.3 dropped six years ago which includes a sumptuos track by Domo Genesis titled Cashmere…Damn….the joint is lit and the production handled by Cali genius Michael Uzowuru is a sumptuous voyage through experimental hip-hop beats and jazz samples (in this case Mr. Uzowuru resumed Bob James’s Treasure Island).
WORLD RENOWN – COME TAKE A RIDE (DUKES GO UP REMIX)
Back in da 90s when Seven Shawn and John Doe known as World Renown made the crowd go crazy with hits like How Nice I Am and Come Take A Ride.
Yap, da hip-hop duo earned a comfortable spot in this selection with a hella dope Come Take A Ride produced by hip-hop maestro Marley Marl. Prick up your ears and listen closely the supa-jazzy treatment remix flawlessly wrapped by Pennsylvania hip-hop producer Dukes Go Up (you can get familiar with his works via Bandcamp).
ESO – WANDERLUST (PRODUCED BY CORYAYO)
Recently we stumbled upon a good work made by british performer Cameron Walker aka Eso called Spatial. Inspired by lo-fi hip-hop beats and beatmakers such as Mellow Orange’s Aso, Looms and Ameba as well as other producers/musicians with a distinctive soulful approach like Tom Misch and French Kiwi Juice , the U.K rookie grabbed da mic and took advantage of some superlative jazz-hop extra-soulful beats finely cooked by Chi-Town beatmaker Coryayo (check out his last effort Wolves). Taste the appealing and relaxing Wanderlust!
HIEROGLYPHICS – THE WHO (A-PLUS REMIX)
1998 was a great year for hip-hop lovers!! It gave us a ton of masterpieces such as Moment Of Truth by Gang Starr,Black Star by Mos Def & Kweli,Hard Knock Life by Jay-Z,The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill,Soul Sourvivor by Pete Rock and the list goes on and on. Well,3rd Eye Vision by Hieroglyphics is anotha impressive classic that a true hip-hop addicted should have ! The collective released their debut opus indipendently via their own imprint Hiero Imperium and it’s still considered as one of the most powerful rap albums of all time! We selected a superb and astute remix version of The Who handled by Hiero/Soul Of Mischief member Adam Carter aka A-Plus which sampled a supreme jazz record by the one and only Ahmad Jamal titled Ghetto Child.
JAZZ ADDIXX – IT’S A SHAME
Jazz Addixx is the ruler when it comes to produce some serious jazz-hop with consistent lyrics, smooth beats and incisive scratches! DJ Ragz , Mudd and unOwn released in 2005 their superlative album Oxygen , a carefully-judged mix of soulful old-school-esque beats and jazz nuances that gave us pieces like It’s A Shame. Mudd dust off one of the most impressive jazz records of all time by Freddie Hubbard called Black Maybe and the result is epic!
KEV BROWN FEAT. PHONTE AND GRAP LUVA – CAN’T STAY AWAY
I Do What I Do by Kev Brown is definitely one of the most beautiful hip-hop treasures included on our music collection here at scratchtheblock headquarters, u know, something which is largely unaffected by the trends of the moment! The DMV area rapper/producer is a bright and much appreciated exponent of the underground hip-hop scene and his curriculum speaks for itself: De La Soul,Marley Marl,DJ Jazzy Jeff,Eric Roberson,Bahamadia,Oddisee,Pete Rock and Suff Daddy are just few names he used to do business with. In 2003 Mr.Brown released via ABB Records a stunning 12” that included on the B-Side the track Can’t Stay Away featuring our favorite rapper Phonte Coleman and Grap Luva. Chill and jazzy , this track is something that you can’t miss so make sure you to purchase it
KOTA THE FRIEND – LAWN CHAIR
After building a strong fanbase with da project Palm Tree Liquor, da homie Kota the Friend put the pedal to the metal launching the well-appointed new album called Paloma Beach…damn…he did it again!!! Kota remains faithful to the impressive ultra-mellow signature sound that made him the most interesting independent artist of the moment! What we love about this dude is the authenticity, the semplicity of a well-rounded act who doesn’t need to show off bling bling, fancy cars and other bullshit.. Kota is not a made up persona , Kota is a real artist,a real rapper,a real lyricist able to bring back hip-hop to higher standards just like J.Cole made with his masterpiece 4 Your Eyez Only! So we highly recommend to support the artist purchasing Paloma Beach but don’t worry if you’re not familiar with his sound , allow us to serve you up the exquisite jazzy single Lawn Chair!
ROYAL FLUSH FEAT. MIC GERONIMO – MAKIN MOVES (PRODUCED BY BUCKWILD)
Do you remember the east coast in 1997? Life After Death,Raw Deluxe,Wu-Tang Forever,No Way Out,Back In Business are some incredible hip-hop classic released in that year. In da same year, Queens rapper Royal Flush released his debut album Ghetto Millionaire, a stunning body of work in terms of story-lines,beats n bars packed with great collabo: Noreaga,Ja Rule,Da Beatminerz,Hi-Tek and heavywight Buckwild which produced the wonderful jazz-hop cut called Makin Moves featuring Royal Flush’s fella Mic Geronimo, sampling the Blue Note classic Montara by Bobby Hutcherson.
EXTRA PROLIFIC – BROWN SUGAR (DOMINO REMIX)
Members of hip-hop collective Hieroglyphics , Duane Lee and Mike G joined their skills in 1994 to record a project called Like It Should Be under the stage name Extra Prolific through renowned label Jive Records (which in the same year released Money In The Ghetto by Too $hort,Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number by Aaliyah,The Mail Man by E-40,The Most Beautifullest Thing In This World by Keith Murray,Electric Relaxation by A Tribe Called Quest and many other brilliant albums). The debut album by Extra Prolific included the hit Brown Sugar but today we offer to jazz-hop fans out there the beautiful treatment remix finely cooked by Damian Siguenza aka Domino, which sampled a 1973 record by Georgia jazz saxophonist James Moody

3/10/17
haps haps haps.
good day yay.
ye
okay so got up and ate a nice healthy breakfast cause growing boys need that kinda stuff ya’know. wait i take it back. not growing boy. never growing. they can't make me grow up if i’m in neverland.
uh but yes food and got all dapper.
Just for comparisons sake, I got up about an hour and a half before class to make sure I was completely ready to go to my interview straight after class. Bags got up about 15 minutes before class.
Walked to class. I’d hate to say this, but paid very minimal attention in class. Just couldn't do it today. Took notes here and there, but I was pretty checked out and played pokemon on my phone lol.
Then went to the ecc with poles, jeff, jt, bags, ya’know the usual. I printed out resumes and researched southwest gas and listened to the best of tunes. oh also i studied for our quiz in systems.
quiz sucked.
i hate systems.
wait no i take that back. i wouldn't actually know if i hate systems because i don't really know what systems is because our teacher is a fucking jfapoiehgalkdhg;ajkr. one of those.
but yes so v frustrating it makes me want to lay in a hole and not get out of that hole ever.
dipped tf outta there after the quiz. wanted to get on the way to carson. but poles said the last half our of class was a huge waste of time so i really didn't miss that much.
walked to jeff’s, hopped in da whip, went to carson.
the drive was super lax, i had never made that drive before and really didn't know what to expect, but it was cakey wakey. buuuut, i could definitely imagine it being a headache if there was poopy weather, so hopefully that never happens ever when i make the drive. (it will duh)
got to carson pretty early, but that’s exactly what i was planning on. went to walmart, copped a padfolio cause i had been needing one anyways and this was the perfect excuse to finally get one. then was v hungry and i realized that i defs didn't want to tummy rumbling and grumbling during my interview so i hit up the yelp-mobile. decided on this chinese place across the street, went. it was super quiet and qt. got yummy food. probably ate too fast but i was nervous okay. sat in my car practicing interview questions and ya’know, just making sure i hadn't nervously forgotten the entire english language.
i hadn't.
for the most part.
hit up yung linda, she let me in the front door. sat me down in the conference room and that was where i waited nervously. not that nervously tbh. the mountains looked rly prtty outside the window so i kinda just leaned back and took them in.
then the ladies who were interviewing me came along.
(okay this is gonna sound kinda dickish, but i was immediately relieved when i found out it was two women who would be interviewing me cause idk i know i’m charming and clever and i think i’m most effective in those things with the opposite gender)
that wasn't really that dickish. just saying it gave me a bit more comfort/confidence.
they had a lot of fucking questions
so many
sooooo many
like 12. but not like twelve little “oh hi, 1. what is ur name? 2. why are you dumb?” but like full multiple-part, open-ended, thought-inducing, questions. hellllla putting me on the spot. honestly i slipped up on when and kinda lied lmao. but other than that i was clutchhhhhh. idk they seemed to like me. i talked a lot but they seemed okay with it so why the heck not, i love talking about myself.
LMAO NO THAT SOUNDS SO DICKISH. i mean i do, but idk. doesn't everyone love telling other people about things they’re passionate about? like that’s something i crave. not only to tell people and share my own passions, but to allow people to tell me their passions and have them shared with me. passion is a great thing. (i’m probably just saying that cause i’m 1000% the most overly passionate person on planet earth).
but yeah answered hellllla questions and did my thang. then they had me talk to another dude after them, cause i guess he wanted me to “stop by his office.” he asked me “those” questions. greatest strength. greatest weakness. why should we hire you?
those are pretty standard and i was ready for them, but, this goes back to what i was saying earlier, he was so much harder to manipulate with my language. like he wouldn't react to things i said in the way you’re supposed to.
“supposed to” lol
this totally isn't a sexist thing tbh. maybe it’s just that most guys suck at talking lol.
like me
but yeah i thought it went really well and fingers crossed, i should know in a few weeks is what they said.
fingees crossed.
drove back, listened to a lot of angry music. i promise it wasn't me, shuffle was just feeling angry so i went with the flow.
got back, played some video juegos, changed.
then i went to get hellllla unlimited steggs with poles. which really meant get one serving of eggs and just keep asking for more steak.
at first we were just chilling, eating our steggs, watching that march madness action.
but
then the boiiiiii, the one and only, the man the myth the legend, double b spots us from across the room and waves to poles.
lol not me, i swear he only waved to poles. dead serious. kinda sad
but then he came over to us and sat with us and we all started talkin’ it up, what we’ve been up to, how stuffs going, the usual.
but then that yung nevada game starts and we start talking about sports and you couldn't shut us up if you tried. i never realized brett was so into sports, but being able to have multiple conversations about different sports and different aspects of them and all encompassing ish was so clutch. he was our boy the whole night. then brian poles rolled up with his bae and one of his homies and we became the popular af table. met hella tke’s cause apparently everyone loves brett.
nevada won, this puts them one game away from the automatic bid to the tourney and i am so hyyyyyyyyype. the comeback was too real.
talked it up with a bunch of homies, came home, played some games with kyle, decided i was done, been sitting in my room alone typing this out for about an hour now.
final thoughts:
um im not trying to toot my own horn here, but sometimes i feel like my brain is hecka great. like idk how is it that i can develop well-thought ideas about math and the government and energy and sports and religion and politics and psychology and so so so so so many things that i am interested in, meanwhile there’s still people sharing obviously fake articles on facebook without reading them.
like idk yin yang i guess.
dab on em//stay beautiful
