Kit watched you stand near his locker, occasionally glancing around for someone. That someone was him of course. 𝘏𝘦 asked you to meet up because 𝘩𝘦 needed to say something important. No matter how many times you asked for clue of what it was, Kit wouldn't budge. He just insisted you arrive.

Well, there you are and his body refused to move an inch closer. Maybe if he stayed behind the wall long enough, you'd leave. Maybe he should run instead. Although neither of those options were fair on you. He didn't expect saying a few words could be so daunting. His anxieties were already over the roof considering the secret about who he really is.

Kit thought about dashing off again. His thoughts were cut out by you standing right next to him. "There you are! " You grin, wrapping your arms around him. Kit's face flushed as he returned the gesture. "What are you doing over here?" Your suspicious glance makes Kit shrug with a shaky laugh "Oh? Me? I was just.. Admiring the interior design-" He taps on the school wall and nods "Mmm, so- uhm...wall-y and painted? "

Your eyebrows narrow. "You don't sound too good" Kit mentally face palms. Of course he doesn't sound 'too good'. He's standing right in front of the person he's fallen for. The person who he wants to hug and kiss and comfort, but that lingering voice. The voice that kept telling him he had no soul. He wasn't human. He'd never be loved. Kit begged it to go away but it would continue to stay for as long as he didn't have 𝘢 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘭

"Earth to Kit? " You poke his cheek and he snaps back into reality. "Are you okay? "

"I-Im fine. Just... Thinking" Kit forced a smile, a hand running though his hair. You didn't naturally believe he was okay. Kit has a thing for hiding how he's feeling. You want to get what the problem is though forcing him into speaking didn't feel fair. Especially if it's something he's uncomfortable about. You change the topic, nudging his shoulder "So, what did you wanna tell me? "

Kit almost completely forgot about that 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵. The asking part. He rehearsed every single word at home. He'd been trying all week to build up his confidence to ask you out. All that preparation shattered in a matter of seconds. "Okay- So-" His words jumbled together while his face proceeded to colour itself pink. "Calm down. You don't have to rush" You assure him. Kit's shoulders slouch accompanied by a small head shake. "Never mind. It doesn't even matter anyw-"

You snag his hands, cutting him off. "Kit, I didn't wait the entire day in curiosity for you to drop something you claim to be important" Your hands tightened around his "So please, what is it? " The warm tone in your voice almost made him confess. Almost. Kit's eyes roamed over your features, falling in love with them all over again. He would've asked you out a long time ago if he wasn't such a freak

"Is this why you've been acting weird this entire week? " You ask

"You noticed..? "

"Yeah, I noticed. I've known you for a little while Kit. I'll definitely notice if you're acting weirder than usual"

Kit felt a small pang in his heart. Words wouldn't describe how he adored your care for him. Kit felt as if he was a monster in the freezing winter and you're the comforting blanket. He wouldn't survive without you. He let out a shaky breath before speaking

"Y/N, I-" Kit paused to place his words correctly "I like you! I've liked you for so- sooo long and... And every second I spend with you are the happiest seconds of my life. And- Well- can I take you out on a date? " Kit noted the stunned look on your face. That disgusting voice laughed at him, mocked him. Kit's hands pulled away from yours, taking a few steps back. "I'm so sorry... I shouldn't have... "

"Yes" You blurt

"Huh? " Kit's eyes focused on your face for any hint of mockery. He found none but an expression filled with affection. "I'll go out with you. My answer is yes" You respond. At this point, Kit's face could be comparable to a fresh tomato. You laugh, dipping your head to the side "Don't explode on me"

You hug him "We'll text the details and everything, yeah? " A grin graces your face. Kit nods because his brain was currently refusing to form useful sentences. You press a kiss against his cheek before pulling your arms away. "Cool. See you on Monday! " And without another word, you're walking down the school hallway. You give him one last wave.

Kit waves back trying to figure out what the hell happened. Was it that easy? He realized the worst wasn't over yet. You still didn't know that he is a skin painting demon. He thought he'd tell you in that moment but the universe seemed to have other plans. The universe could be telling him not to say anything at all, right? That must be the case

Besides, if you never know, you'll both be happy. It's a win-win. Kit's expression shifted into joy. He has a date with you! No matter how much of a soulless monster he is, he wants to be as human for you as possible. Even if it means keeping a few secrets.
