Burrows End is extremely good so far. Aabria Iyengar said “Let’s do Watership Down, specifically capturing the scarring, haunting feeling of seeing it as a child” and she nailed it.
Anyways I’m gonna ride this sad, scary high (low?) and watch watership down for, no shit, I think the first time in like 18 years.

Hii I’m in the mood for some pain sooo I was wondering if you could write a fanfic with prompt #8 (angst) for malec?
(Sorry this is kinda trash <33)
Alec worked at a small coffee shop in the middle of Brooklyn. It wasn’t very well known but it was cozy and they had a lot of regulars. Alec typically worked the register due to his constant tiredness and inability to move around too much.
Alec was diagnosed with lung cancer when he was twelve, they had all expected him to die by the time he was thirteen at most he would live to be fifteen, but here he was eighteen years old and still suffering.
He often wondered if it was really worth it, being alive. If being dead was the only way to stop the cancer why couldn’t it just kill him already. But it hadn’t and so he tried his best to live a normal life. Go to school, work, be a good sibling.
He wasn’t sure when his last day would be, but he tried to ignore that. The only thing he did that was a conscious decision because of his illness was the fact that he didn’t make friends, or bond with new people. It wasn’t fair when he was past his expiration date.
Which was why he found it annoying and endearing at the same time, when one of their regulars would ask him out every time they came in.
His name was Magnus Bane and the only appropriate way to describe him was sparkly. He was always wearing glitter, and he always had a smile. He was such a bright presence that you wouldn’t help but look up when he came in.
In all honesty Alec would absolutely love to go out with Magnus, but he couldn’t do that. He didn’t want to cause this stranger unnecessary pain so everyday when Magnus came in at exactly noon and asked him out he said no. He had gotten creative at this point, it was basically a game.
Everyday went the same, Magnus would throw him a flirty wink as he took his coffee and would ask him to dinner or for a walk or for coffee (which Alec thought was the best date but he may just be biased) and everyday Alec would kindly decline, “Sorry I have homework.” or “Sorry I’m not gay.” Which was the biggest lie he could tell but Magnus didn’t need to know that, not that he believed the lie anyway.
So when Magnus came in that day, looking fabulous as always, and started flirting with Alec, Alec got terribly annoyed. He wanted Magnus. He wanted to go on a date. He wanted to date, period. He had never had a girlfriend or boyfriend due to his illness and it was torture having to turn this incredibly hot guy down six days a week.
Magnus winked at him when he handed Alec the money. Alec smiled politely back, wiping his hands on his apron before taking the money. “You know Alexander, I do love a man in a uniform.” Magnus said biting his thumb while he let his eyes travel unselfconsciously over Alec’s body.
Alec lost his cool and put his hand on the counter so roughly Magnus’ eyebrows raised. “Could you not? Maybe some people enjoy this but I don't. It's creepy, stop it.” Alec said, glaring at Magnus who actually looked a little sheepish. “I didn’t know it really bothered you that much. I'm sorry.” Magnus said quietly looking at his shoes, a rosy blush raising on his cheeks. Alec cursed and closed his eyes.
He hadn’t meant to hurt Magnus’ feelings; he was just annoyed. “I-I’m sorry that was mean. It doesn’t bother me. I mean it does but not for the reason you’re thinking.” Alec muttered under his breath looking anyway but Magnus.
Magnus lifted his eyes back up, their normal light dimmed considerably. “Then why does it bother you Alexander?” Alex blushed at the use of his full name. No one called him Alexander except his parents when they’re mad but Alec didn’t seem to mind much when Magnus did.
Alec let out a deep breath and turned back to Magnus. “Well you see… it’s just… umm… I’m kinda...chronically ill? So you don’t really wanna date me, sorry.” He said cursing his cancer for the umpteenth time.
Magnus’ eyes widened considerably and he opened his mouth only to close it multiple times. Alec sighed knowing he had just scared this hot guy away. He turned away from Magnus and went to make his coffee while Magnus thought that over.
He hesitantly stepped back towards Magnus who was staring at him again. Alec shifted awkwardly before handing Magnus his coffee. “I’m really sorry, just so you know you don’t have to keep asking out of pity. I totally understand not wanting to date someone chronologically ill.” Alec said scratching the back of his neck, biting his lip. Magnus sat his coffee on the counter giving Alec a hard look.
“Alexander, I apologize if I gave you that impression, it just shocked me is all. I would like you to know that I am still going to ask you out and it’s not because of pity I guarantee you.” Magnus said softly, Alec laughed a little. “I don’t think you understand, it’s not just chronic, it’ll kill me.” Alec said slowly.
Magnus visibly flinched, frowning at Alec. “I will still ask you out unless you genuinely wish me to stop. As sad as that is, and it truly is Alexander, it just gives me more reason to ask you out now.” Alec stared at him for a few moments before slowly shaking his head, a smile crawling across his face. “Okay.”
Magnus’ eyes widened again, a smile breaking across his face. “Wait really?” Alec laughed and nodded, laughing harder when Magnus literally jumped up and down. “Yes! I don’t have to drink coffee anymore!”
Now it was Alec’s turn to raise an eyebrow, Magnus pursed his lips and looked at the ground. “I-I just mean, haha well, umm. I don’t like coffee.” Magnus said laughing again, Alec blinked at him in surprise. “Then why do you come here everyday?” Alec asked confused.. Who would come and get overpriced coffee every single day if they didn’t like coffee?
Magnus watched him with amused eyes. “It gives me an excuse to see you and ask you out everyday.” Magnus says nonchalantly, the shy blushing side leaving as fast as it came. Alec laughed loudly, his head thrown back, eyes shut. “You came here, every, single, day, just to ask me out?” Alec asked incredulously, Magnus smiled confidently as he said, “Yep.” and popped the ‘p’.
Alec laughed again before taking Magnus’ cup back and writing his number neatly on the side. Magnus looked at his cup as if it had just done something beautiful. “Ah how cliche this is.” Alec shook his head a stupid smile still on his face. Izzy was going to freak out when he told her.
Magnus shook himself out of his daze and raised his coffee. “Thank you for this and I will see you, Alexander, after work.” Alec nodded, watching amused as Magnus walked backwards out of the coffee shop, not once hitting a chair. Alec knew if he tried that he would have fallen almost immediately.
Alec turned away from the door, not bothering to try and cover his growing smile. He had a date with an attractive guy who didn’t care that he was sick. Alec grabbed his phone, thanking whatever god there was that it was a slow day at work as he pressed Izzy’s name on his phone.
She picked up on the second ring and Alec smiled as her voice floated through the phone. “Aren’t you at work?” She asked him immediately. Alec rolled his eyes, smile never faltering. “You’ll never guess what just happened.” ________________________________________
Alec and Magnus ended up having a great date, which led to many more, and then they had been dating for three months.
They were basically inseparable and when Magnus wasn’t at Alec and Jace’s apartment, Alec was at his. Alec’s health was getting better much to everyone’s amazement, Alec stayed cautious as he always was and Magnus was amazing and always asking if something was too much or if he just wanted to stay in. Magnus liked going on walks and so did Alec but he always had a hard time so Magnus would give Alec piggy back rides everywhere.
They were in Magnus’ apartment watching Eli and Niomi’s No Kiss List when Alec felt a burning in his chest. He was rubbing his chest attempting to calm it before Magnus noticed. He was hoping that it wouldn’t be the start of something that would eventually lead him to the hospital but when he found it getting harder to breathe he excused himself and went to the bathroom to call Jace.
He knew Jace would stay calm and make sure he was alright, he knew Magnus would too but he doubted Magnus’ ability to stay calm when Alec was in so much pain.
Jace picked up on the first ring with a chipper ‘hello!’. Alec let out a shuddering breath, his chest felt like it was caving in. “Hospital.” He said quietly holding his chest, waiting for a break from the pain. Jace’s playful tone left immediately.
“Alec where are you?” He asked urgently, his keys jingling in the background and then the sound of the door shutting. “Magnus’. About to leave.” He said weakly. Jace cursed and Alec heard his door shut. “I’ll meet you there.” He said before hanging up. Alec sat the phone down and looked at himself in the mirror.
He was too pale and his eyes held too much pain. Alec cursed quietly, embarrassed at this having happened in front of Magnus. He was worried it would scare him off, seeing it in person as opposed to hearing about it.
Alec walked into the living room slowly, walking getting hard with the lack of air he was getting. “Magnus.” He said quietly, too quietly since Magnus didn’t turn around and laughed at something in the movie.
“Mags.” Alec said louder this time. Magnus turned around with a smile on his face, one that quickly fell when he saw Alec. “Hospital.” Alec said shakily as he walked to the door. Magnus cursed loudly and started frantically looking around for his keys. Once he found them he came over to Alec who was bracing himself on the door way, breathing too heavily.
Magnus watched him with wide eyes and Alec felt a wave of guilt wash over him for having scared Magnus. Alec tried to smile reassuringly, but it was interrupted by the worst pain yet. Alec gasped and his legs gave out sending him crashing to the floor. Magnus caught him before he fell, adjusting him so he could carry Alec to the car.
Alec finally let himself cry and buried his head in Magnus’ chest whimpering softly. “It hurts.” He said quietly, shaking from lack of oxygen. Magnus was running now, he hadn't waited for the elevator instead running down the stairs. Normally Alec would be scared that Magnus was running so fast and concerned he would be dropped, but Alec couldn’t focus on anything other than the immense burning in his chest.
Magnus kissed the top of his head murmuring a comforting, “I know.” quietly before finally reaching his car and setting Alec as gently as he could in the passenger seat. Alec just curled into himself as if he could protect his lungs from the disease currently killing him.
He had a small moment of panic realizing that this could be it. He could genuinely, truly be dying right now. He quickly decided he would rather have death than having to endure the pain any longer.
Magnus was driving crazy and Alec wanted to tell him to slow down, to stop and focus but he couldn’t force anymore words out of his mouth. His vision was starting to spot, little stars messing his sight up. He closed his eyes instead, willing them to go away but they just got worse.
Alec reached blindly for Magnus’ hand and Magnus quickly latched onto it. Alec squeezed his hand tightly, something he always did to Jace when he wasn’t able to talk anymore. It was comforting to feel Magnus squeeze his hand back. He was going to be fine, he had to be.
And with that thought everything went black.
_________________________________________
Alec had expected the event to scare Magnus away but Magnus did the opposite. He seemed to understand the severity of Alec’s condition and Jace had talked to him while Alec was unconscious.
Magnus was now constantly asking if Alec was okay and if anything hurt. It was annoying most of the time but it was nice to know Magnus cared so much.
When they reached their tenth anniversary, Alec moved in with Magnus. It had been good timing since Jace had been wanting to live with Clary. Clary moved into Alec’s old apartment with Jace and Alec moved in with Magnus.
When Alec’s birthday came around everyone threw him a big party, a ‘congratulations you haven't died yet!’ kind of party. Quite honestly Alec was also surprised.
He had never had much to live for, just his siblings, but Magnus made him want to live. He made him want to try things, not just to exist, but to make the best of it. For once he was living not to die, but to have fun. He was living for himself. Magnus made him happier than he ever thought possible.
Which was why when the expected happened, he was ready.
_________________________________________
Alec got a lot worse around the time of their one year mark. He found it harder to breathe a lot of the time, as if an elephant had taken permanent residence on his chest. Alec knew it was coming, so did everyone else but Magnus refused to accept it.
“You’re not going to die. It’s not allowed, you can’t leave me.” Alec frowned. There wasn’t much he could do about the fact that he wasn’t always going to be here. “Mags. I know you don’t like thinking about it but it will be so much worse if you don’t accept the fact that it’s happening.” Magnus glared at him. “I don’t want to.” He said as if that was the end of the argument.
“Magnus, stop it. I’m going to die and you’re going to have to find someone else to make you happy. You’re my boyfriend and I love you so much, but I am not going to be here and you have to move on when I’m gone. You have to.” Alec was winded by his short rant but he stopped breathing completely when Magnus said in a quiet voice, “I don’t want to be your boyfriend.”
Alec froze for a moment before looking away, embarrassed at the tears in his eyes. He knew this was coming so why was he getting so upset? “I-If you don’t want to be my boyfriend Magnus i am not going to force you to.” Magnus eyes went wide and he surged forward hugging Alec tightly. “God no. No, no, no. That is not what I meant.”
Magnus was rubbing soothing circles on his back and Alec had to take a few shuddery breaths before he found his voice. “Then what did you mean?” Alec asked, weaker than he meant to.
Magnus pulled away from his with a determined look in his eyes. “We should get married. I don’t want to be your boyfriend that sounds too insignificant. I want to be your husband. I want to give you your happy ever after.” Alec froze again before shaking his head. “Mags no. I can’t do that to you.” Magnus shook his head, eyes narrowed in thought. “Yes you can. I’m asking you, Alexander.”
Alec smiled sadly at him and shook his head. “It’ll just break your heart.” Alec said slowly, eyes cast downward. Magnus tilted Alec’s head up with his finger, eyes locked on each other. “Then break it Alexander. I give you permission. Shatter it.” Alec faltered at that. Was Magnus so sure of this he would break his own heart?
Alec watched Magnus for a minute before stating quietly. “I will but you have to really think about this. I’m serious, not some spur of the moment thing. Think about it, I probably won’t last more than three months.” Magnus flinched at that but nodded anyway, giving Alec a shy smile. The kind of smile that was reserved for Alec and Alec only.
“I have thought about it. A lot actually. Alexander, I’m serious about this. I really want to get married.” Alec watched Magnus with contemplating eyes, before a bright smile stretched across his face.
   “Okay.”
_________________________________________

Magnus and Alec went and got married the next week at the courthouse. They were planning a wedding but they wanted to do this just in case something happened beforehand. Jace, Izzy, Clary, Simon, and Rapheal were all there.
Magnus and Alec both cried, both refusing to admit the fact afterwards.
It was the best moment in Alec’s entire life and he thought back to that fateful day at the coffee shop and silently thanked his short temper.
Alec and Magnus spent the next few months planning the wedding, they had moved the date around a lot but finally settled on waiting a month. Everytime Alec looked at Magnus he felt a warmth bloom in his chest.
Everything about their everyday lives was great. Magnus had gotten a cat who he named Chairman Meow, Alec had pretended to hate him but Magnus often came home to Alec asleep on the couch, Chairman Meow nestled on his chest.
It pained Magnus to see Alec grow weaker everyday, it pained Alec to see Magnus in pain. They had many late night discussions on what was going to happen after. Sometimes there were tears, other times there were laughs, but mostly they just held each other and thanked god for the time they had spent together.
Everything was busy the day before the wedding. Magnus and Alec both had their suits and were spending the day together before tomorrow happened and they were crowded by everyone.
They spent the day eating ice cream and watching movies. They played games and fondly referred to each other as husband even though they had technically been married for a little over a month.
That day Alec had felt more at ease than he ever had before. He felt at peace.
That night when Alec woke up gasping for air refusing to go to the hospital Magnus had cried begging him over and over to not go. To not leave him. Alec had begged him in return to not be mad.
Only when Magnus had forgiven him for leaving him did Alec reach out tentatively kissing Magnus one more time before falling into a peaceful sleep.
The only pain he could feel was the emptiness where Magnus had once been.

Notes: back by request!  Thanks again to everyone who liked this series, your feedback means everything to me and I’m glad you enjoyed it
Warnings: more longing, “Sweet Buns of Mine” needed to be a single, dammit, and Pookypants is gonna get his, Stradlin gets straddled, and inappropriate use of chocolate
You were covered up, warm and snug in your bed, dreaming of a white sandy beach, the wind blowing gently, the waves rocking against the shore, when you felt warm lips press against your nose, then disappear.
You weakly murmured your discontent at being left, but Izzy was already gone.
Today was Valentine’s Day, the day for lovers.  You had dreamed of this day ever since Izzy first spent the night in your arms, how you’d celebrate with breakfast in bed and cuddling and giggles and sweet kisses and maybe you’d go out to dinner, if the two of you could be bothered to get dressed.
But Valentine’s Day was also the busiest day of the year for a flower shop, and even though Izzy was driving only part time now (Guns N’Roses was playing much more frequently and had developed quite a following), he had to report to work very early (Sylvia had dictated “ALL HANDS ON DECK,” and nothing short of an appendectomy would be a reasonable excuse for missing work today).  You hadn’t heard him get up and get ready, and you were a thousand sleepy miles away on a coast so you didn’t even get to tell him goodbye.
After a few more minutes of trying to doze off again, you reluctantly got up and showered (which was no fun by yourself) and instead of feeding a breakfast of toast, bacon and eggs, and coffee to your boyfriend, you poured milk into a bowl of cold cereal.
It had been surprisingly easy to fall into a relationship with Izzy.  He made no attempt to hide his feelings for you, immediately calling you his girlfriend and introducing you to everyone as “my angel.”  He even rivaled Slash in his blatant displays of affection (the lead guitarist had cackled when you accidentally let it slip your pet name for Izzy was “Sweet Buns” and the entire band had pounced on that one, with Axl now singing “Sweet Buns of Mine” at every rehearsal).  He held your hand at the movies, his fingertips danced across your body until you cried out his name, and you slept in his arms every night.
But Izzy had never told you that he loved you.
You knew that he cared for you deeply.  His gentle touches and whispered words in the dark were evidence of it, and whenever groupies hit on him after a show, he shot them a disgusted glare and kissed you so hard it took your breath.  Still, it just about broke your heart you couldn’t tell him you loved him too.
You had decided today wasn’t going to be a total loss in the lovey-dovey department, so you’d stopped at the grocery story and picked up a few treats for everyone.  Fats had lapped up his hamburger and raw egg mix so quickly that it looked like it had just evaporated, and Goya had happily gulped down her serving of beef heart.  Izzy’s favorite iguana Grendel had lazily munched on his mango treat, but it almost looked like he had smiled at you when you gave him his snack.
After their special dinners came their enrichment (after discarding a few puke-stained t-shirts you had learned the hard way their after feeding cuddles were slow and gentle cuddles), and a few hours of cold-blooded bonding had lifted your spirits so much that you even sang a few bars of “Goyadise City” to the white-throated monitor and she hadn’t minded your off-key singing.
Everyone was full and snuggly and placed back in their cage when the door opened and Slash and Susan came in.  He made a beeline for the sleepy old tegu, then threw his arms around you and spun you around in a tight hug.
“Wow, you’re certainly in a good mood,” you said.  The matching smiles they both wore immediately told you why.
Izzy hadn’t even had time for a quickie.
“Look what Slash got me,” Susan said, and held up a large-is that a shark’s tooth pendant?
“Wow,” you said, realizing it matched the necklace he always wore.  “That’s so sweet.”
“I saw Izzy today,” she said, and your heart clutched.
“Yeah?” you asked sadly.
“Yeah, he delivered my roses Slash sent me and asked if we would take you out to lunch today.  He was so busy, he was literally running all over the hospital.”
“C’mon, Y/N,” Slash said gently, “we’ll take you to Hobie’s and have shrimp tacos.”
Susan threw an arm around you.  “He wants you to have a good time.  He hates he can’t be with you today.”
You’d only moped for about a second over your lunch because Slash had overheard Axl’s girlfriend calling him “Pookypants” and was going to relay this information to Izzy.  Your stomach was still aching from laughter when you came back to the reptile sanctuary and flipped the lights back on.
There, on top of Grendel’s cage, were 12 of the most perfect red roses you had ever seen, standing in an exquisite crystal vase.
And on the floor, written in rose petals, were the words. “I LOVE YOU Y/N.”
When you arrived home, Izzy was standing shirtless in front of the stove, a small smirk playing on his lips.
You let out a squeal and grabbed him around his waist from behind,  “You planned that.”
He turned your steaks over in the pan.  “Well, Slash and Susan and I planned it.  And Dr. Mark loaned me a key.”  He turned and kissed your cheek.  “Did you like it?”
“Mmmhmm,” you said, pressing your cheek against his naked back.  “What are those?” eyeing a wax-paper lined baking sheet.
“Chocolate-covered strawberries.”  He grabbed your arms with his free one.  “No.  You’ll spoil your dinner.”
You gave his ass a playful swat.  “Party pooper.”
After the two of you finished your dinner, Izzy took your hand.  “Angel, do you want your present now?”
“Can I give you yours first?” you asked, and after he nodded, went to the bedroom and retrieved it from the closet.
He tore off the paper and pulled a purple silk button-up shirt out of the box.  “Is this to keep me from stealing your clothes?” he grinned.
“Maybe,” you said, and he pecked a kiss on your lips.
“Thank you, I love it,” he said, then slid a small box toward you.
Your heart was pounding as your opened it up.  Inside was a ring, a rose made of pink gold, with a ruby in the center, sitting on a gold band.
“Izzy,” you gasped, and sat down on his lap, throwing your arms around his neck.  You leaned in to kiss him and instead he placed a chocolate-covered strawberry against your lips.
You enjoyed a bite, then kissed him deeply, his mouth sweet and fleshy like the strawberry, and warm and delicious, and soon you were kissing him while you straddled him on his chair.
“Guess what I have?” he said, breathless from your kiss.
You held his shoulders and rocked against him.  “I think I already know.”
His eyes locked onto yours, then when you ground against him again he shut them and groaned, “Leftover melted chocolate.”
You pushed a strand of wet hair out of Izzy’s eyes (you’d had to wash chocolate off the sheets as well as each other, but it had totally been worth it) and sleepily kissed him as you wrapped your arms around him.
“I love you,” he said.
“I love you too,” you said.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, Angel,” he whispered against your temple, and you were already falling asleep in his embrace.

•A Little Bit Of Everything•
Tumblr media
Pairing: Isabelle Lightwood & My OC Jennifer Reaper
I got sidetracked so many times because this originally was supposed to be an AU so please bear with me thank you for your time. ❤️
______
It was simple, take the picture then boom Isabelle had an idea. But it wasn’t easy it was actually pretty difficult for the small women to find something or someone to be her muse, Jace volunteered but Isabelle declined, don’t get the women wrong she loved her brother but Jace was sometimes to much he loved taking pictures of himself Isabelle couldn’t really blame him she did the same.
But that wasn’t the point, Izzy was doing a fashion design at home, she had the clothing down but nothing came to mind when she got to the colors, so Isabelle decided to use an old hobby that she loved to do, photography. Isabelle has an eye for fashion but she also has an amazing eye for scenery, perfect lighting and timing.
Aside from fashion Isabelle adored taking photos of things that caught her interest.
But at the moment nothing caught her attention or interested her. Izzy huffed in defeat deciding to go home leaving the park she was originally at.
—-
As Soon as Isabelle entered her apartment the smell of freshly cooked pasta invaded her senses which only meant one thing.
Jennifer was cooking lunch.
Isabelle made a Beeline towards the kitchen settling on a chair by the bar placing her camera on the wooden platform resting her head in the palm of her hand letting out a deep sigh.
“Uh oh I know that sigh, that’s the ‘I give up’ sigh, who exactly are you and what have you done to my best friend?.” Jennifer asked clearly joking with a hint of seriousness. Isabelle groaned tilting her head back as Jennifer set a bowl of pasta in front of her, “But seriously Iz what’s up?” Jennifer continued to question placing a fork in front of the women swaying her hips a bit to the music that was quietly playing.
“I have no muse.” Iz mumbled picking up her fork stabbing the pasta, “Isabelle Lightwood, not having any muse?. No that’s not possible Isabelle, you made a design out of a garbage bag and it looked nice! And you got that from where? A dumpster by an ally?.”
Isabelle shook her head chuckling a bit eating the noodles she stabbed earlier.
“Why not use Jace for muse?.”
Isabelle snorted covering her mouth so she didn’t spit out her food.
“Izzy he’s not that bad he models for Clary all the time.”
“I know but Jace sometimes doesn’t act normal when a Camera is faced towards him.”
“Jace does love himself I don’t know what to tell you there. Hell pretty sure if there was a second him he’d date him.”
Isabelle glanced up at Jenny her eyes casted down on the newspaper placed in front of her, she didn’t miss the way the corners of her mouth curled up, Isabelle found herself smiling too.
“It’s true.” They said in sync.
Jennifer looked at Isabelle meeting her eyes, their smiles growing bigger both women laughing.
——-
Later in the evening Isabelle found herself in her fashion and photography studio, Izzy stared down at the unfinished drawing that she created nothing coming to mind.
Isabelle groans in defeat she’s been staring at the drawing for two hours now and nothing struck her creative side.
“Why not red? You know like the iconic rose.” Isabelle jumped a bit looking over her shoulder to see Jennifer leaning against the doorframe of the studio her amber hair dissolved hazel eyes dropping wearing a shirt that went past her waist hiding her underwear, holding a cup in her hands. Isabelle gave her a gentle smile “I have at least over a hundred styles that are full on red Jen.” Jennifer shrugged “just trying to help.” She mumbled walking over to where Izzy was sitting leaning over her shoulder to see what she did.
“It looks good.”
“Yeah but it would look better if it had color.”
“And a hat.”
Isabelle looked up towards Jennifer “what?.”
“It is the winter time Iz a beanie would go great with the Jacket and pants, beneath the ripped Jeans would be leggings the shoes would mostly brown army boots with one of the tags hanging off the side.”
Isabelle thought of it, trying to imagine what Jennifer told her and explained into some details.
“Or not, i’m not as good at fashion then you are aside from that you can do it Iz, your a lightwood you’ll find a way to finish this and make it come to life.” Jen said kindly placing a quick kiss on Isabelle cheek.
“Here I made this for you, don’t stay here too long or I might have to drag you to dinner and bed like last time.” the women warned in a playful tone placing the cup in Isabelle hand “Coffee?.”
“Coffee.” Jen answered messing with Izzy’s hair before finally leaving the short women alone.
Isabelle huffed in amusement she adored that women, Isabelle looked down at the liquid smiling, not to dark or to light it balanced out, but it was mostly the foam heart that made her smile. Jennifer understood her well.
“Perfect.” a small ‘Just like you!’ could be heard making Isabelle laugh.
“Thank You!.”
Like I said, she adores that woman.
_____
Hours after hours Isabelle found herself yawning, her black hair tied up into a messy bun held together by different pencils and pens, The cup from earlier empty on her table.
Isabelle drew 5 different styles using some pictures she took years ago to help her, but nothing they didn’t give her the passion she would usually get when she created a new design.
An exhausted sigh left her lips deciding to call it a night, it can’t be that late if Jennifer didn’t come to drag her to bed, right?.
Isabelle looked at her watch, it was 8:46 Pm.
“Shit…” Isabelle dropped her pencil onto the platform of her design table grabbing the cup beside her pushing the stool back walking out of the studio turning off the light on her way out, quickly walking down the hall going to the kitchen order to clean the cup placing it in the sink.
Isabelle sighed rubbing her eyes, “what am I supposed to do?. I can’t think with a tired mind.” She said to herself leaning against the counter after a minute of complete silence and debating on what she’s supposed to do, Isabelle noticed a dim light coming from the living room, raising a brow Isabelle circled around the island heading towards the source of the light, finding a sleeping Jennifer laying on the couch. Papers laid out on the coffee table, Isabelle glanced over at them to see one word in bold RENT.
She forgot all about the rent, Isabelle was out of town for a couple months on vacation with the Lightwood family and Magnus, Jennifer wasn’t allowed to come because in her mother’s words ‘I don’t have enough money for another ticket.’
They both knew it was a load of bullshit but Jenny being Jenny told Isabelle it was fine she’ll live.
‘It’s gonna take a couple of months to get rid of the Lightwood smell anyway you and that freaking perfume trying to kill me.’
Isabelle smiled at the memory, Jennifer always tries to find something to tease Isabelle about.
Isabelle scoffed rolling her eyes a soft smile forming on her face “now aren’t you a sweetheart?.”
“Who pays 150 dollars for a damn perfume!?.” She Shouted in a playful manner a smile on her face.
“Me!.”
“Obviously.” Jennifer scoffed shaking her head.
Isabelle closed her eyes shaking her head at the memory quietly laughing.
The revenant took a seat by the sleeping amber haired girl noticing money lined up by the rent and other things, there were labels on top of the different stacks, Rent, Light, Cable, Gas, Phone’s, AC bill, Water bill. Taxes.
Isabelle brows drew together, how the hell was Jennifer able to pay for all these things for the past 3 months? Isabelle never got the chance to ever send Jennifer money because of her mother.
“She’s a big girl, she’ll be able to handle it.”
Isabelle was so mad when her mother said that, Isabelle and Jennifer were roommates for a reason, they split the bills, food stamps and more and of course they’ve always planned on living with each other since they were kids.
Why was the Light bill so high?.
Crap the light room…
Isabelle forgot to shut that off, after looking over the bills she noticed how each was was high beside the phone and gas bill, AC was Isabelle fault So was the light.
Isabelle sighed “you better not be working twelve jobs again.” Izzy said to herself, Izzy left before for a whole year because of a design project she was doing in London she was needed to make and come up with ideas for the dresses the models were wearing thanks to Magnus help, he knew how bad Isabelle wanted to be a fashion designer so he tried to help everyone supported her especially Jennifer. Frankly her year trip was cut short because of a call she got that scared the hell out of her. Jennifer ended up in the hospital.
Isabelle can’t remember the last time she got on a public transport so fast, she remembered bouncing her leg up and down on her way back tears in her eyes fearing for a best friend as soon as she got off the plane she called an Uber going straight to the hospital she told the Uber to take her bags to her house saying her landlord would be at the door to help with them. Izzy opened the double doors seeing that her brother’s, Magnus, Clay and Simon were already there all looking equally worried but Isabelle knew she was worst that she looked worst she was the closest to Jennifer, Jennifer was her everything.
Later on Isabelle found out she didn’t have enough nutrients in her body, she didn’t eat a normal amount of food she didn’t drink enough water or anything else her anxiety levels were horrible, doctors said she either passed out from hunger, stress, anxiety or exhaustion. All of those reasons made Isabelle feel horrible, Isabelle remembered everyone arguing with the doctor but she was more focused on the unconscious Jennifer on the hospital bed, she didn’t even look alive she would’ve mistaken Jennifer for dead if the heart monitor didn’t tell her otherwise. She was pale Isabelle couldn’t see her freckles as much, the dark circles under her eyes made her sick to her stomach.
At one point she had to yell at everyone to shut the hell up. Them arguing was gonna give Jennifer more stress and make her state last longer she may be unconscious but Isabelle knew Jennifer could probably hear them.
Isabelle was pulled out of memory lane when a small sound came from beside her, she looked over to see Jennifer stirring in her sleep a bit, then there were the nightmares.
Isabelle sighed crawling over to her lightly stroking the side of Jennifer’s head humming a song, Jennifer relaxed under her touch a deep breath leaving her, Isabelle watched her friend for a while thinking of all the times Jen was there for her. “You do so much and you barely get recognition for any of it… I tell you everyday and I’ll keep telling you, I am thankful for you I appreciate you for being in my life for always putting me first even when I don’t deserve it. I want you to take better care of yourself, I should’ve asked Magnus to help you that year but I was to caught up in my own excitement that I forgot, that was selfish of me and I really wish you told me of all the things you were doing, I would’ve helped you pay for your classes if I knew that paper was coming early, even if I did ask for Magnus to help you, I know you would decline his help till the bitter end because you’ve never enjoyed asking people for anything.” She spoke quietly. Playing with a strand of her hair.
“When I got that call I felt as if my world crumbled around me… I was so scared for you I tried to not think the worst but I did… all I knew I wanted to do was hold you and not let you go or let you out of my sight, I don’t know if I want to do this fashion thing if it’s gonna end up taking me away from you for a period of time, period of time that causes you to run all around the place trying to keep a place for us. It’s not fair for you or me, I don’t want to go somewhere and find out months later you’re in the hospital again because you weren’t able to have time for yourself.” Tears overwhelmed her eyes, “I’ve always wanted the best for you, as you did for me… be selfish for once please… do something for you…”
“You think you don’t have a calling or a future, you think you’re nothing but you are something you’re not a delinquent you’re not a mistake. You’re not bad I don’t care what my mom says, you are a part of the family you’re my family…”
“I absolutely unconditionally adore you and love you with my heart and soul.”

Underhill - Malec Scenes
So, since the Shadowhunters fandom is stuck in what has to be the hottest mess of a cancellation ever, I decided to finish a fanfic idea that I’ve been working on to accompany the missing Malec scenes I’ve already written.
This is 5 Malec scenes written from the POV of Underhill - and includes 5 scenes of Underhill unintentionally eavesdropping on his favorite couple
Front Lines
Every Shadowhunter knew the name Alec Lightwood, and Shawn Underhill was no different. The Lightwoods had been head’s of the New York institute for many years and their family legacy was one of the longest in the Shadow World. So, when he’d heard that Alec had risked his position, for love no less, he couldn’t help be curious. He hadn’t been at the wedding himself, but if the rumors were true it meant that the eldest of the Lightwood sons and heir to their ancient legacy, was gay.
Just like Shawn Underhill himself, though in his case, no one knew.
Underhill was impressed that, despite being several years younger and openly dating a male warlock, Alec Lightwood had managed to maintain his reputation as one of the best archers the Clave had on record. And though Underhill had never met him, he had taken notice of Magnus Bane before. Any warlock being in the institute raised more than a few noses. An immortal being that the Shadowhunters had to chronicle to keep up with, because he outlives them all. But in the case of the High Warlock of Brooklyn, it was more than that. This man appeared to be eccentric, gorgeous, and impressive even by the Clave’s skewed standards in regards to downworlders.
The first time Underhill sees Alec Lightwood and Magnus Bane together is the morning after Valentine’s infiltration of the institute. He’s part of the team searching for stray circle members around the perimeter when they happen upon the Lightwood boy kissing the High Warlock of Brooklyn like his life depends on it. Despite the murmurs from the forming crowd, Underhill understands exactly why Alec had refused a marriage that would have made him Head of the Institute.
----
“Alexander, you cannot possibly think you're responsible for the Seelie’s opinion of your people.” Magnus stopped and turned to Alec in the hallway as they left the ops center. Izzy’s high heels clicking away in the other direction had caused Underhill to look up from his paper work and now he couldn’t seem to look away.
“Not responsible for it, no, but I perpetuated it. I was the one who brought Meliorn in for questioning that almost got him killed. I knew about the Clave using seelie scouts to spy on Valentine. I…” Alec’s insistent voice remained quiet, though Underhill could hear them from his station at the desk.
“Trust me darling, you are not the problem.” Magnus leaned forward, taking Alec’s downcast face in his hands before placing a featherlight kiss on his forehead. Even from a distance, Underhill could see the smile touch Alec’s lower lip. “I dare say what the Seelie Kalie did had more to do with your parabatai’s so called book club than anything else.”
At that, Alec let out a soft laugh. “Right,” He said with a shake of his head that was somehow both fond and annoyed. Alec turned, taking one of Magnus’ hands as they continued walking.
“Besides, in my experience the Seelie Queen is rarely less than hostile.”  Magnus pointed out with a flourish as his voice trailed away. Underhill had to shake himself, realizing he’d been staring at the couple, mesmerized by their simple exchange. As he looked around he saw a few people glace towards them, some in distaste, however no one seemed to mind their small display of public affection.
It was an odd thing to see even married Shadowhunters engage in any form of PDA, but Magnus and Alec seemed completely unbothered by any prying eyes.
----
“Ugh, that warlocks here again,” Duncan says under his breath and Underhill follows his eye across the room to where Magnus Bane is striding towards the offices, looking like a million bucks as per usual. “He walks around here like he owns the place.”
“He probably could if he wanted to, and everyone knows that he’s the boss’ boyfriend.” Underhill shrugs, turning his attention back to his work.
“That’s my point,” Duncan says suddenly louder.  “It’s bad enough he’s.. ya know, into other dudes like that! But slumming it with a downworlder? and one of his reputation...”
“I assume you’re referring to the Clave’s file on him?” Underhill asks, aware that anything the Clave recorded on the life of an immortal Downworlder should be taken with a grain of salt.
“Yeah, the guys like 400 years old and a total playboy.” Duncan scoffs.
“You do realize warlock’s are immortal right?” Underhill asks, absently turning the page in his report. “And he’s clearly in love with Lightwood, so what’s your problem?”
“Love? Come on, he’s probably like a spy or...  or you think the Lightwoods keep him as an asset?” Duncan asked conspiratorially, with something akin to excitement in his voice. Underhill knew that tone because he’d heard it from several Shadowhunters in regards to Alec’s relationship with Magnus. It couldn’t be that they’d simply fallen in love, something fishy had to be going on and someone needed to prove it. Underhill was tired of hearing it.
“I don't think anyone keeps a warlock like Magnus Bane,” Underhill points out, voice turning harsh as he stood up to gather his things. “And by the way, I’m also ya know, into dudes that way. So maybe you should just keep your opinions to yourself.”
---
Underhill is listening intently to Isabelle Lightwood as she’s going over the institute’s updated security plans following the escape of Valentine. Everything would need to be overhauled after checks and scans were complete. Another team had been tasked with determining how Duncan had been compromised, his family slaughtered.
The moment Magnus Bane enters the ops center, the atmosphere changes around them. As usual, the warlock is dressed impeccably and Underhill supposes it’s perfectly natural to stare. The guy was like a walking piece of art, but the murmurs coming from the others at the table were not so agreeable.
They were quickly silenced by Isabelle loudly clearing her throat, her face reminded Underhill of the saying “if looks could kill.” She stared at the group in disgust until Magnus stopped beside her, wearing a contrastingly friendly smile.
“Ah, Isabelle,” Magnus started, rings glistening in the lights of the hologram. “Alexander said you were going over the security breach if I wanted in.”
“Absolutely,” Isabelle dropped her annoyed expression and turned to Magnus, immediately diving back into the plans.
It’s a few hours later and the ops center is relatively quiet when Alec Lightwood returns from a mission. Before discarding his bow, he be-lines for Magnus and is gifted with a sweet kiss that makes his cheeks flush. The only Shadowhunter at the table who doesn’t seem to notice is Isabelle and Underhill figures she must see this sort of thing all the time. Several of his colleagues are noticeably uncomfortable but none of them dare say anything.
----
Shifting through the pages of his report on a shax demon attack in lower midtown, Underhill turned a corner towards the Office of the Head of the Institute and froze. The newly appointed Head of the New York institute, Alec Lightwood, was giggling while sharing kisses with his infamous warlock boyfriend. The two of them had stopped in the doorway to the office with mere inches between them, oblivious to the world around them.
“Now, Mr. Lightwood, let's do keep things professional,” The warlock says as he brushes a hand down Alec’s lapels in a distinctly unprofessional manner.
“Of course, Mr. Bane.” Alec says as he moves them both into his office. “This meeting is to reinstate the institutes contracts with the High Warlock of Brooklyn under our new leadership.”
“Ah, and what lovely new leadership indeed, Mr. Lightwood. However,” Magnus teases, voice drifting from the open door as they stumble together towards privacy. “Some of my services require special attention from the Head of this Institution and I regret to inform you these needs have been neglected under your recent predecessors.”
“In that case, please allow me to assure you, Mr. Bane. You will receive any and all special attention you desire from the Head this Institute so long as I’m in charge…” Alec’s voice trails off as the door swings shut with a swish of blue magic. Smiling, Underhill walks past the office with his report still in hand, certain that his boss doesn’t want this particular meeting interrupted.

Shadowhunters Short Story #15
Magnus quietly and slowly opens the door to the loft and steps inside, carefully shutting the door and making as little noise as possible. It was close to midnight and he had been with a client since 8:00 p.m. He hated leaving Alec and the boys, he would spend all day everyday with them and no one else if he could.  Taking off his coat and shoes, Magnus heads to his and Alec’s room, where he finds Alec on his back in the middle of the bed with Max and Rafe on either side of him, all three of them fast asleep. Max is clutching onto Alec’s shirt tightly with one hand and the other resting beside his little head full of messy dark blue hair. The poor little mite must have had another nightmare, both boys were prone to bad dreams, especially Rafe, after what he went through in Buenos Aries. Rafael was curled into Alec’s other side, his head resting on Alec’s chest and his arms wrapped around Alec’s waist. Poor little Rafe was still so terrified of being abandoned and left to fend for himself again, it had broken Magnus’ heart earlier that evening when Rafe had clung to him, crying and begging him not to go. He hated that he had to explain to his 5 year old son that he would never be alone again and that he wasn’t going to be abandoned again, Magnus had half a mind to bring Sebastian back to life just so he could kill him again for starting the dark war that left Rafe orphaned, but then again if the dark war never happened and Rafe’s birth parents hadn’t died, then Magnus and Alec would never have found him and gained him as a son.
Magnus carefully gathers Max into his arms so he can lie beside Alec and Rafe. Just as Magnus lifts Max, the little boy starts to stir.  “Papa.” Max quietly says, his voice thick with sleep. Magnus kisses Max’s forehead and softly says
“Shh it’s alright Max, go back to sleep.” Max leans his head against his father’s shoulder and says
“Missed you papa.” Magnus smiles as he lowers himself onto the bed, laying Max beside him.
“I missed you too my little blueberry.” Magnus gently says. Running his hand through Max’s dark hair, he adds “Now, go back to sleep, we have a busy day tomorrow.” Tomorrow was Max’s third birthday, and Magnus was of course going to throw his son the most magnificent birthday party. Alec thought they should just have a small celebration with the three of them, and maybe Jace, Izzy, Maryse and Robert, like they had for Max’s first and second birthday, but Magnus insisted on having a proper party this year. Max would love all the attention he would get, and Rafe would be over the moon to see Catarina, or as the boys call her ‘Aunty Cat’. Catarina loved Rafe and Max, and they loved her, Max adored that she had blue skin like him and thought she was the most beautiful woman in the world, he was a little charmer like his Uncle Jace, already. Rafe loved hearing Catarina’s stories, especially when they involved Magnus or Ragnor, who the boys know as Uncle Ragnor, who was very important to their papa and aunty Cat.
Max soon falls back asleep, his head resting on Magnus’ chest and one hand clutching onto Magnus’ top. Gazing down at his beautiful little boy, it doesn’t take long for Magnus to relax and fall into a peaceful sleep, either.
The next morning, Magnus is awoken to the sound of Rafe’s voice and either Max or Rafe jumping on him.
“Papa!” Rafe exclaims, as Magnus opens his eyes and sees his eldest son sitting beside him, while Alec has Max sitting on his chest, playing peekaboo with him.
“Good morning mijo.” Magnus softly says, pulling Rafe into an embrace.
“Miss you papa.” Rafe quietly says, snuggling into his father.
“I missed you too mi cielito.” Magnus says, pulling his son closer and kissing the top of his head.
“You gone long time.” Rafe softly says. His English was coming along so well, considering he’d only been home almost a year, he still struggled with a lot of words and sentence structure, but he was a very bright little boy and with all the help he was getting, he would have no problems with it soon.
“I know Rafe, I’m sorry but I had to work, but I will always come back to you, you know that don’t you?” Magnus gently says. Rafe nods and soflty says
“Te quiero, papa.” Magnus grins and says
“I love you too Rafe, more than you could ever imagine.”
Almost an hour later, Magnus and Alec start getting the boys and themselves ready to go to the institute for Max’s party, since the loft was too small for all the guests they had invited. Magnus had trusted Isabelle and Simon to decorate the ballroom for Max’s party, if he and Alec tried to do it and arrive at the institute hours before the party, the boys would get bored and cranky before the day had even properly started.
“So who all did you invite again?” Alec asks Magnus as he feeds Max his breakfast.
“Well lets see, all the Blackthorns from LA, Cristina, Diana, Tessa, Jem, Catarina, Jocelyn, Luke, Clary, Jace, Izzy, Lily, Maia, your parents and Simon.” Magnus says, helping Rafe to button his shirt.
“I can’t believe you put my pregnant sister in charge of decoration.” Alec says. Isabelle and Simon had married almost a year ago, and now Isabelle was 6 months pregnant, which made Alec even more protective of her, even though Isabelle was well able to handle herself, even while heavily pregnant, but Alec couldn’t help but worry about her.
“I did not, she volunteered and wouldn’t take no for an answer, you know your sister when she has her mind set on something nothing will stop her from doing it.” Magnus replies.
“Love aunty Izzy.” Max suddenly says. Catarina was Rafe’s favorite aunty, but Izzy was Max’s, and she was his hero and idle, along with Alec. Max thought Izzy and Alec were the most amazing people in the world and that they saved the world everyday when they went out to hunt demons. Isabelle was wonderful with the boys too, she was extremely patient and affectionate with them and loved helping them with their training, but she also loved playing with them and cuddling with them, she would be a wonderful mother.
When they arrive at the institute almost everyone is there and Isabelle and Simon have done a wonderful job with the decorations. Hung on the walls are pirate themed banners, the table cloths are green -Max’s favorite color- and there are balloons of various colors scattered all around the room.
“What do you think Max? Did aunty Izzy and uncle Simon do a good job?” Alec asks. Max nods enthusiastically and says
“Yeah!! They do really good job!” It’s then that Max spots Robert and squirms to get down, yelling “Grandpa! Grandpa!” Alec sets him down and Max darts to the other side of the room where Robert is talking with Simon, and Rafe is not long behind his little brother. Robert’s face lights up when he sees the boys, he hugs them both tightly when they reach him and listens intently when Max starts babbling on on about something, most likely pirates or how cool it is when his daddy uses his bow and arrow or when his papa uses his magic.
“Your boys are getting so big, Magnus.” a soft, familiar voice says from behind Magnus. He turns around to see Tessa standing arm in arm with Jem, in a beautiful green dress that shows off the curve of her stomach.
“Tessa, are you...?” Magnus trails off, looking from her stomach to her face which is lit up with joy. Tessa nods and says
“We’ve been keeping it a secret for a while now, just in case something happened, but we went to the Silent Brothers this morning and Brother Enoch said everything looks healthy and there’s every chance I’ll have a normal, healthy pregnancy.”
“Oh congratulations!” Magnus says, pulling her into an embrace. He knew Tessa and Jem wanted to have children someday and soon, but Tessa was very worried that something might happen, since it had been so long she was last pregnant, and even then, according to her letters, her pregnancy with Lucie hadn’t been very easy.
“Thank you.” Tessa says, beaming brightly, her hand resting on her swollen stomach.
“Max and Rafe are going to loose their minds, they’re already so excited to meet Izzy’s baby, now there’s another baby on the way, they won’t know what to think!” Alec says.
Max spends the rest of the day clinging to Tessa and Jem, while Rafe refuses to leave Catarina’s side. Magnus was so glad his children were so happy and comfortable with his friends.
When it comes time to open presents, Max is completely spoiled, receiving at least two presents from everyone, and the news that he’s going to have another little cousin shortly after Izzy’s baby is born. When Tessa and Jem told him about their baby, Max wrapped his arms around Tessa’s waist and started telling the baby stories about he and Rafael and babbled on about how he couldn’t wait to meet the baby.
Later that night, after the party is over and everyone has gone home, as Max cuddles into Magnus’ chest while watching t.v. on the sofa, Magnus softly asks
“Did you have a good day, my little blueberry?” Max nods and says
“Yeah! Can we have a party again next year? It so much fun!”
“Of course you can, you can  have a party every year if you like.” Magnus says.
“Can I have party for my birthday?” Rafe quietly asks.
“Of course mijo, you both can have birthday parties for the rest of your lives if that’s what you want.” Magnus says, putting his arm around Rafe and pulling him closer.
“Magnus, that’s too much, they’ll be spoiled!” Alec says, although he would also agree to let each boy have a birthday party each year if that’s what made them happy.
“Nothing’s too good for my little blueberry and mi cielito.”
