while still trying to hatch shinies in pokemon, i’m also still thinking of oc shenanigans in the pokemon world and just general setting stuff ahhh

izzy, with no formal education, no trainer training to the point she can’t even recognize that their befriended gastly is a shiny, packs up and leaves her cruddy home with no real plan other than to just go somewhere, their sun-shy ghost companion hiding in their shadow cuz she doesn’t even have any pokeballs.

chris has been studying under his dad to see the impact human society has on pokemon, and now specifically is trying to research how species are diverging and changing due to human influence. he’s not here to fight anything, has a castform that, rather than reflect the weather, reflects chris’s own emotional state.

then they bump into eachother, a crossroads where they’re both lost in different ways. chris is asking for directions, someone to show him the way to another town he needs to see, and izzy happens to know it. offers to show him the way. he asks if that’s really alright, if she’s already out on a trainer’s journey.

izzy fibs. yeah, she’s a trainer, yeah it’s fine. purp, the gastly, is their friend and likes to follow in their shadow, no need to put her into a ball. izzy doesn’t feel right in completely lying tho, says they’re less concerned about collecting badges and more focused on just finding cool stuff.

so they walk and walk and excuses keep popping up. “ah i heard of something neat that comes from over in the same direction, is it okay if i keep tagging along?” chris gets his suspicions about izzy going so far from home, a place that when mentioned causes uneasy side-glances, a loss of focus and a change of topic, so he doesn’t pry, and genuinely enjoys the company of this peer who talks about cryptid pokemon no one has ever caught and conspiracies of the true origin of species that people just THINK they know.

and just the fun of this whole made up region and exploring it where the focus isn’t to catch them all or get victory in some big competition, just finding neat places and good friends and cool creatures.
