it seems like nobody knows lol ive seen several different answers to the question so there isn´t like an official answer it seems

though do keep in mind at the time the american side of sonic basically didn´t give a shit about the og stuff (just look at the stuff translators did) so they might just have not given a shit about the original color scheme
