Hi again! I feel there is always room for writing what makes you happy :) You very thoughtfully explore your characters' foibles and deeper struggles. I love Neri trying to navigate her complicated relationship with her job and how that is mirrored in her interactions with Xanxus and Squalo. My favorites are the ones with Neri and Squalo. They're fun in the way they can be very snippy but understanding and the way they seem to be dancing around each other. Dangerous Xanxus is always good too.

Thank you for your continued kind words! That's definitely something I enjoy with my writing, if I were to have a 'writing style', I suppose. I've always loved getting inside the heads of Muses, working out the who and the why, the reasons and emotions behind actions.

Squalo and Neri is always an interesting one to think about, because I never want it to seem like I'm 'just shipping' two characters together - thinking about if there would be actual reason for it, the way they might act. They're both very prideful people, but Squalo probably moreso; not only is there an image to protect, he strikes me as a very private, closed off guy. Getting too close, physically or emotionally, is likely to have something savage thrown your way, to push you away. It's kind of funny, in a sadly sweet way. Squalo's first instinct is to attack to protect himself. Neri's is to pull away and isolate when things start veering towards 'more than friends' territory.

bc really I dont want to bash other ships to lift mine up!!! and I actually also really love and respect labru, and know the majority of labru shippers arent Like That, just like most kabumisu shippers arent Like That. every group has some annoying, loud, opinionated people and they dont represent the average person who likes the ship, you know? I would love to see some labrus follow suit and send in some positivity as well!!! anyway, some reasons I really love kabumisu

- as a neurodivergent disabled person dating another neurodivergent person, this is like. THE couple to me. and like its not just about mithrun being taken care of. taking care of mithrun actively helps kabru be more mindful of his own needs. In my life, I may struggle to feed myself, but I can make breakfast if my partner is hungry. other times she may do the same for me, it depends on who is doing worse.

-they both struggle with insomnia also

-from everything we've seen, pre-dungeon mithrun wasn't entirely dissimilar to kabru (high masking people pleaser) and thats Fascinating to me.

-kabru's job seems pretty stressful (no matter how much fulfillment it brings him, its a lot of responsibility for one person!) so I feel like coming home to that one guy he can take his mask off around and not even have to try and impress must be such a huge relief. also add mithrun with cooking experience to this, making kabru a nice meal after a long day of work.

-Mithrun is actually very perceptive and sees straight through kabru's bs multiple times and doesn't hesitate to call him out. Laios isnt the only character that forces kabru to be honest. ("unless theres someone else?" "theres someone you want to tell that story to.") mithrun is also the one who gives kabru the information he's been seeking this whole time.

-I am very interested in exploring mithruns whole desire situation. what desires does he gain? I think it is probably a lot of little ones that weave together. oh also I think sometimes things may seem more mithrun centric bc in any story where he is going to end up in a relationship he is going to have a much more dynamic arc than whoever he is paired with. literally dynamic as in like. he requires a lot more growth to achieve the outcome. and there are ways to skip it or gloss through it but. a lot of these stories require that in some way you show the progress has happened.

-to me, kabumisu is more often queeplatonic than romantic. but Im aroace so that could just be my aroace glasses. ALSO kabru is vaguely aro to me. you mean the guy thats super desirable that doesnt really seem interested in anyone particular outside of pursuing friendship? that guy? (also the way he did rin omfg)

-random but I dont think kabrus PTSD is talked about enough and also like the extent of his trauma. its not just utaya/monsters/his mom dying; its being raised by a single mother, its his blue eyes, its being adopted, its being raised by an elf, etc!!!! a lot of things he does bc of ptsd get attributed to autism (I also hc kabru as autistic, and some is symptom overlap. but it is secondary to the ptsd! he is traumatized first and foremost ty) I really love kabru so much. ty for the ptsd rep <3

//I really do wish that Mahiru was a more integral character to DR2's plot, because her interactions with Hajime in the Free Time Events are probably the cutest the game has to offer. Originally I was more of a Hinanami fan, and honestly I still am, but I've been corrupted by these two.

//Mahiru and Hajime are perfect catalysts for each other's character development, since one counters the others past trauma. Being someone who's just a meer photographer, Mahiru also has the potential to relate to Hajime more as a talentless individual.

//Ship is hella underrated, it needs more love.

//Outside of Survivor, I'm not CRAZY about this pair, and honestly, the only place I can think of it starting from is that one manga where Usami creates a Japanese festival and they have a bonding moment.

//It's kind of like a Nagatoro/Senpai relationship where the girl mercilessly bullies the boy because she likes him, and with these two, I can get behind that.

//Especially because of how much opposites attract. Hiyoko has a graceful design but a less than graceful personality, wheras Kazuichi is an honestly nice guy but looks and acts pathetic. Makoto is usually optimistic and wistful, but Kyoko can help bring him back down to earth and make him face reality if he ends up in a tizz. Alternatively, Makoto's optimism breaks Kyoko's ordinarily stone-cold expression, and it's shown in DR3 that she's gotten to the point that she is unashamed to speak highly of Makoto, because she's come to respect him and value him as a friend, something she would not have done in early DR1.

//They make each other the best versions of themselves and that's all a good relationship needs. Plus, the cool girl and lame boy dynamic is rarely ever not fun.

//These two got married after DR2 happened and nobody can tell me otherwise.

//Honestly though, as cute as I think Kuzupeko is, their actual canon relationship is kind of toxic. //Like her brother, Komaru can be easily overwhelmed, emotional and sometimes too optimistic for her own good, and Toko helps mediate this with her more cynical and realistic personality. In turn, Komaru's more ordinary high school girl nature and her own quirks as a character suit Toko well, normalizing HER fucked up writing and bringing out the human side that she SERIOUSLY lacked in DR1.

//Speaking from the heart, I actually think these two are my current favourite couple in DR Survivor. I already talked in a previous post how writing Toko is one of the most fun and engaging things I've ever done, and I'm proud to see the natural progression of this pair and how far they've come together. If only DR weren't cowards and made them canonical lesbian lovers.

//Soruko is a pair that I love, but I have a hard time writing because Sora can sometimes be a MASSIVE DICK to her wife. Not that she means it, but sometimes I feel like I inadvertently make Sora this big dick energy monster who wants dominance over Yoru, and that's NOT what these two are.

//I get why they don't want to just write proper ships in even the fangames, but these two had such an intense amount of sexual tension between them for most of Another 2, and the way their stories end is frankly tragic and bittersweet.

//This is my favourite ship in canon and has been so since the dawn of time. It takes aspects from all the other relationships in Danganronpa I love and meshes them together in a sweet romantic lasagna.

//My biggest GRIPE is how little we got to actually SEE of these two, and the fact that whatever romantic scenes we get of them are called forced by a majority of the fandom. And I will admit, stories like Three-Point Shot and others like it portray Saimatsu in a much better way than the main series does. But the potential is unmatched.

//Like Tokomaru and Naegiri, one is an optimistic girl who is given reality checks by the more serious boy, who also has clear past trauma and depression that is quelled by the optimistic girl. It's the PERFECT healthy dynamic, and the good thing about it is that neither Kaede nor Shuichi are ever portrayed as perfect protagonists. In fact, they perfectly cover for the other's flaws to help sustain that balance. Their designs reflect this as well with Kaede's faded but colors being the basic reverse pallete of Shuichi's darker ones. Even as one of Shuichi's more well established ships, these two deserve more attention.

//This is probably my favorite ship in the series, possibly only beaten by Saimatsu. More people need to talk about this pair, it's frankly the best that the both of them can find among whatever pairings they might have.

//They have basically no interactions in the games and I think that's REALLY sad actually, because their dynamic of the emotionally strong girl and the emotionally frail girl has potential that just isn't explored, when it SHOULD be. Especially considering that Ibuki is probably the only character who can definitively FIX what's wrong with Mikan.

//Ibuki's entire Free Time Event storyline is all about her being herself, but also subtly helping Hajime overcome his fears and insecurities as a person by naturally taking his mind off them to have fun, and this really does help Hajime. If ANYONE needs therapy like that, it's Mikan. And Ibuki is just so naturally optimistic and charismatic, even Mikan should be able to see that nothing Ibuki does is foreplay or taking advantage of her.

So like,why do you ship Laios and Chillchuck? This isn't anon hate it's just a ship i never really thought about and now I'm curios and I like hearing people rant about their blorbos

for many reasons! but let's start at the beginning, shall we?

i didn't know dungeon meshi existed until early february. i'd seen some media for it in the past, but didn't know any of it was related nor was i interested enough to dig further.

the very first fanart i ever saw for dungeon meshi was this one (it was on a different site though):

i didn't know who the characters were, but the dynamic spoke to me. it reminded me of two of my partner's OCs that we've been shipping together for nearly ten years: a big buff blonde guy who loves animals and seems stupid but is just socially stunted, and a short aggressive rogue with reddish hair and brown eyes who doesn't take other people's shit and is damn good at what he does. yes, it's that specific. these are them:

even without that foundation to work on, though, chilaios interested me. i love size differences and i love ships between nice guys and angry guys. that said, i mostly put it out of mind after nick's first fanart, but it posted some more not too long later which got me thinking about it again...

and by then more people were talking about dunmeshi because the anime was getting underway. i spotted chilchuck and laios in posts about the series and realized that was where they were from, and that there was an anime, as well as a manga. that was all i knew, but their dynamic was intriguing me more and more, so i told my partner about it and said chilchuck and laios reminded me of harry and jeffrey and showed him some of the fanart. neither of us tend to start new media very often (i'm significantly worse about it, it takes a lot to get me to try), but eventually i looked into the series and found that the anime was brand new (5 episodes at the time) and the manga was completed. both of those facts were ideal for trying to get into it.

we didn't start watching until the week episode 9 came out, not for lack of interest but because there just wasn't really any incentive to get a move on. by then we'd both recognized that we'd be insane about chilchuck in particular, because we love his character type and he's very, very cute. and we were right! you could practically hear the canned audience applause when he showed up onscreen the first time.

we didn't watch all 8 episodes in one sitting, but we did watch several of them, and i think it was clear to us both that chilchuck and laios absolutely had a fun dynamic. eventually we'd go on to read the entire manga, and we're fully caught up on the anime, watching the new episodes every thursday.

the basic thing i like about their sort of setup is the way laios respects chilchuck and never doubts their relationship, while chilchuck is frequently aggressive and critical but staunchly sticks around and keeps helping anyway. it says a lot about them as friends: laios isn't worried that chilchuck actually hates him, and chilchuck's actions speak louder than his words, always staying and doing the best he can even if he complains. he wants what's best for laios, even if he never says it, and laios trusts him completely.

i love that chilchuck cares even if he pretends he doesn't, and i love that laios has utmost faith in him. i love the little intricacies of their individual backstories and the ways they compare and contrast. i love the way their personalities collide, independent of their existing relationship (as in, i'd ship them even if they interacted less). i love their size difference. i love them individually, as really well-written and fascinating characters, and i love thinking of new ways to pair them together and seeing what everyone else does with them. i love chilaios!!!! it makes me very happy and they are a perfect ship for me.

First of all I really like your Felix criticism as it's very well detailed and articulate especially the ship part. Seeing you list what Kagami likes in Adrien made me firm believe that they should have paired her with Luka if they really want her to be in a relationship since Luka shares those traits.

Honestly I argue that Lukagami have more parallels with Adrinette and each other compared to Feligami despite they don't interact much until Determination. Sure it will be in the cliche spare the pairs but it is less problematic and doesn't ruin both Felix and Kagami character arcs.

To be quite honest, I haven't actually thought much about Lukagami. I still wouldn't say I ship them, but you do make some valid points! I think Kagami and Luka would have a great dynamic. They both get what it feels like to have the person you love be in love with someone else, so they've got that in common. Aside from that, I think Luka the kind of guy who everyone feels comfortable around and who is able to encourage people to open up. So he'd be a good match for Kagami, who has been taught to conceal her emotions. Despite coming off as cold, Kagami is one of the more emotional characters in the show, so it would be nice for her to find someone who is attentive to her emotions and encourages her to be open about how she feels.

And as for Luka, he doesn't really have much of an established personality and we barely get to see him outside of a role as a love interest/wingman for Marinette, but he seems to focus a lot on other people and their well-being more than his own, which can sometimes lead to him getting walked over. So, Kagami could help him assert himself and stand up for himself. She could help him learn to put himself first. Like how she called Adrien to tell him to stand up for himself, she could help Luka find his self-respect.

But of course, relationships aren't perfect. And one conflict Lukagami might have to deal with could be about what Luka knowing Marinette and Adrien's identities and keeping it a secret from them means. Kagami, if she were in character, would not hesitate to let Marinette know that she knows her identity, so that could be plot point dealing with that, and it doesn't need Kagami to forget what he did and excuse him without holding him accountable, since what Luka is doing is so miniscule compared to the shit Felix has done. They failed to deliver on that in canon, so if you really needed to make Lukagami a plot point, it could serve a narrative purpose if they did that.

I don't know much about the parallels with Adrienette though. Maybe it's because I'm not that informed on Luka and Kagami as compared to Adrien and Marinette. Thing is, Luka and Kagami have only one interaction, which is mainly just talking about Adrienette. You seem to know more than me about this, so I'd love to know what you think, anon.

But yeah, I agree. Lukagami as it is in canon could make for a better relationship than Feligami in canon. My position is that Feligami had the potential to be a good ship, but the rushed pacing squandered it. If they had taken the time to flesh out their dynamic and the development of their relationship, it could have been really good. But they didn't do that, and it cost Felix and Kagami their character development and arcs. In contrast, Lukagami isn't much developed either, but at least it won't turn Kagami into a "girl who fixes the guy" kinda thing, since Luka doesn't need "fixing." And the ship won't come at the expense of their personalities, because Luka hasn't done anything that needs to be erased to make a ship happen like Felix has.

Honestly? For me to like a ship, all they gotta do is be a bit silly/chaotic and absolutely fucking devoted to each other. I would go as far as to say a possible mutual obsession lol.

For my FAVORITES though, Usually it's the CIRCUMSTANCES they go through that really makes me "click" with them though. I like a good balance of silly and dark. As I can vibe with MANY relationship dynamics but if they went through some very neat and compelling shit??? Or just how many of their decisions are deeply rooted in how much they care for one another??? ughhhh I love that. I think it's cause I'm often bursting with love and affection for people in general so I just love exploring that in media as well.

All three have the "guy being from less prosperous place/standing, Woman being of "high class" with the guy ending up being "worthy" in some way anyway. (Link is the Chosen Hero, Natsu is technically a prince/demon, Odysseus' name is literally part of the title) so there's probably something there.

I'll go into specifics on similarities and things I love about my main ships (OdyPen, NaLu, ZeLink) at the end :D as I get silly.

Now for the bitterness of Notps bit before getting silly with comparing my faves:

One huge one I genuinely have a hard time understanding is "These two are hot! It would be even hotter if they fucked! I ship them!". If a ship needs to have sex or physical attraction, to exist or that's the ONLY appeal about it then that's an immediate no for me. To me, JUST ME, sex is a horrible foundation to start a relationship on as I don't understand it. I often times forget sex exists so I do not understand the whole "wouldn't it be hot?" part of shipping. I'm a "Wouldn't it be cute/funny/wild?" person lol. Ships only become "hot" AFTER I see the relationship between them. Sex can (and often is) be a part of a ship (I mean, OdyPen has a canonical child) but if it's the first "building block" or the "foundation", I'm out. To me, that's like building an upsidedown pyramid.⯆It's going to fall over and there will be bricks and destruction. (One of my big ships is in an anime with a shitton of fanservice. I fucking hate it but that's just... the world they're in. Not necessarily because of what THEY do. And the dynamic is just that fucking good that I can just grimace through it.)

That goes hand in hand with "Ohhhh so much tension!" and then perceiving that as romantic? Like if you're mad, you're mad. If you hate them, you hate them. For complex reasons? Yeah, but I really don't like seeing a character be genuinely mean to another with only SMALL moments of "nice" in between. I've seen enough of that irl and I'm so tired. Shipping is supposed to be FUN, not stressful. There's bickering and natural fights but there are some ships where they're literally PURPOSEFULLY hurting one another and I can't stand it personally. Most of my visceral notps are because there is a "I'm hurting you, I'm enjoying it/don't care". There can be tension/bullying (not teasing) for like, one or two episodes for me to care for a ship but if it goes longer than that and/or never resolved, that's not a ship, that's a dynamic.

Exploring toxicity as a character dynamic and how it affects characters??? SURE! I even do that! :D But to see that in a romantic light? No. Not for me. No thank you. Please separate them. They will kill each other and one will end up scarred for life in order to still be in character.

also the "I must completely change this character for the ship to work". For an AU? Sure! For the canon stuff? No. I don't like to cut up an already neat puzzle piece in order to "smooth them down" so that it can fit with a completely different puzzle. If the puzzle pieces never have a fit? That's okay! :D

I think a lot of it is because I'm a weirdo who is like "Let's make this world as fantastical as possible and make the RELATIONSHIPS grounded in reality as possible. I get silly with it sometimes but there will always be some grounded reason that I can pull from 'canon' to justify it. lol".

Sometimes it's the fandom that will ruin it COMPLETELY for me. I could tolerate it before, but now it's blocked because it makes me so mad. Especially when they make shit up about one character to justify "hating" them. They don't have to be your favorites, but at least tag it right! I've also noticed a pattern of just hating female characters because of it. If you hate Lucy Heartfilia or say some bullshit about how she's whiny or weak, Natsu and I would like to have a word with you. I swear on fuck if you're all bent up outta shape because Zelda, a 17 year old in most games, is a bit of a mess at some points, I'll start my own yiga clan of assassins just to take you out. I've thankfully only seen ONE bullshit for Penelope but holy fuck. shut up.

Time to ramble about my sillies.

I mentioned before about how most of their decisions are very much centered around each other or even what they do for one another.

Zelink: Lil hard to explain as I enjoy all incarnations (Though OoT and Botw/TotK are probably my faves) but in all games, regardless, they are intertwined. They protect one another and fight for one another. I love the dynamic of commoner and royalty as that's very juicy. "I don't care what people say, I love you."

Nalu: Intelligent heiress runs away from home to escape an arranged marriage and where her father only sees her as an object. She meets lil shit dragon man demon and her life is absolutely changed and she changes so many of the lives around her. Lucy is the main character, she just is. It's not Natsu. Fight me. Lucy literally gets BURNED when she was saving him. Not letting go despite that it was hurting her. She rewrote his grimoire to save him. Many people see/saw him as a monster but he never will be one to her. Natsu uproots a fucking TREE and sends it down the river outside her house so she could see it's "once a year blossoms" as she was too sick to go. He is her biggest cheerleader. Even when he doesn't understand why she's so excited about something, he does it happily because he cares. She is what helps him become friends with others. (poor guy was too "weird") Her "dying" is what unlocked E.N.D. She's what brings him back constantly. They are best friends, (also yeah, demon dragon man still being loved despite how strange he is? yes please)

Odypen: Holy shit. He looks over the most beautiful woman in the world to marry her, racing her father for her. She leaves her more "prosperous" home in order to live with him on his "rock". The entire Odyssey and Iliad is him fighting to get back to HER. He will never give up. Goddesses are nothing compared to her. He respects and adores her so much, to the point where he is placing himself, his wants and needs, beneath her own. And she will never give up on him. She stalls and never wants to be with any other even if he is dead. No other man is like him. She will protect their son, putting herself in harm's way so he has a home to come back to because he makes Ithaca her home. :'D (Water Wife being seen with heart eyes despite how strange she is and "better" opportunities? Man so fucking traumatized and "ruined" is still "her Joy" regardless? YES! YES PLEASE!)

I just fucking realized that fucking trees are important to them all xD Rainbow sakura for Nalu, Deku Tree for Zelink, and Treebed for Odypen.

All are silly in their own way. All will ALWAYS choose their "person". Odypen is definitely the most morally gray and the oldest lol (Though I do think Natsu would be like "you killed 108 people for her? Rad." It's just that FairyTail is "no deaths allowed") Penelope would be impressed by Lucy's tricks into getting things but then Lucy would be like "what?" as soon as she hears about the other shit Penelope's done. Link is horrified by Odysseus' warcrimes, and Odysseus gives him shit for "killing more than he has" and Link tries to defend himself by saying that they were monsters, not people. Penelope would catch frogs for Zelda. Zelda and Lucy would share books while Penelope would be like Wtf is a book?. Penelope and Natsu would be like "You got sharp teeth too?!" Odypen and Zelink would probably have a lot to talk about with "gods have affected our lives". Odysseus would be impressed by Natsu's property damage. Natsu would be so excited about the dragons in LoZ and think Zelda having been one is cool af (not knowing that it's a touchy subject)

Ugh, I'm getting so so silly. I love them all. They are so special.

Funny thing too? Gruvia (from Fairy Tail) and Menelaus and Helen (From the Epic Cycle) are both ships that are often intertwined with "my main" and both have the "quiet man and chatty woman" dynamic and I find that funny.

Hi, Anons! Seems like I’m starting all of my replies with apologizing for being late, this one isn’t an exception lol This is another ask that I wanted to think about for a while to make sure that I reply to it properly.

Thank you so much for liking my art and thank you for approaching this question in a polite way. I know this is a controversial topic, this is why we try to be honest about it, but at the same time not to post about it too often; but if you’re curious, I don’t mind talking about it. Ehh but this post is super long, I don’t know if you wanted it to be this long haha well.

Obligatory disclaimer,in case there are any people out there who still don’t realise where we stand on this issue: fiction is fiction, any topic or trope could be explored and played around with in fiction, and there is no direct correlation between the tropes a person loves and their moral code or life choices. One does not “support *something*” by shipping a certain ship. It’s not that deep.

With that out of the way, let’s proceed! Starting with Ortho/Idia. The reply’s mostly about them, tbh.

And right away, another disclaimer: like I mentioned in another post on this topic, us shipping Ortho and Idia romantically doesn’t mean that we don’t appreciate the platonic reading of their relationship. The idea that platonic love could be super strong and tragic and make a person do drastic things for their sibling’s happiness is great and rarely explored in fiction. Believe it or not, we just really love the way they’re written, and even though we ship them romantically, we’re not blind to this version of their dynamic and we love that twst has a storyline like this. This storyline made me lose my mind as a shipper, but even if we look at it platonically, the fact that Idia called out the hypocrisy of swooning over Orpheus and Eurydice and yet people thinking that him (Idia) desperately wanting to bring back his brother is wrong is just beautiful.

Alright, that’s all the disclaimers, let’s dive into the shipping territory and talk about our feelings.

I don’t know, man, they just… love each other so much. The sheer volume of their love is so impressive and beautiful, and when it comes to shipping tropes that we like, they pretty much tick all the boxes.  I’ll try to explain it in more detail and with examples.

Since it’s a little bit hard to talk about them because there are so many versions of Ortho, I’ll try to say things that are common to all of them. And when I’m talking about a specific version of Ortho, I’ll mention that.

First of all, we really love ships that force characters to open up, develop, evolve and enhance the traits that we love about them. This is why in all of my character rants I tend to talk about their relationships with others, and in all of my headcanon posts I tend to talk about canonical events a lot: these things are strongly tied together for us. So naturally, I’ll start by talking about Ortho and the way his character works (and develops) through his relationships with Idia.

To be honest, we didn’t really care for Ortho at first. He wasn’t all that interesting to us based on his design and character quirks (alright, a cute robot boy, we get it), but once we got to know him better, he literally became one of our favourites. Because he is so much more than just a cute robot boy who only acts like a mascot or does whatever Idia wants him to do.

Even though he is perceived (mostly by the fandom, but also by some of the characters) as a child, he is definitely not an innocent and gullible baby. If we compare AI-Ortho to original Ortho from the flashback, it becomes very clear just how different they are. Ortho from the flashback is a very young child: he sounds, acts and talks like one. AI-Ortho, even though he’s based on the original Ortho, is nothing like that, because he grows, develops and learns with time. Ortho has shown again and again that he is smart, he could be quite cunning, his morals are questionable (since, you know, he is an AI and not a person), and he is quite reflective and perceptive. He is much more mature than he is given credit for, and a big part of it is that his main role is to take care of Idia. And not just in a “drink water, niisan” kind of way: he also acts as Idia’s emotional crutch at times. Ortho is very attentive to Idia’s emotional state, because this is what he’s been doing his entire robo-life: making sure that Idia is feeling alright, comforting him, reassuring him constantly, finding this fragile balance between not pushing Idia too hard and trying to inspire him to socialize with others as much as he can. This takes a lot of empathy and emotional wisdom; it’s clear that between him and Idia, Ortho takes the role of a mature caretaking person, even though he could still be a little bit naïve at times. And as he learns and adapts, he becomes more strict and more pushy with Idia, he learns how to persuade him, manipulate him, how to trick him. He becomes less anxious and scared to accidentally hurt Idia, because he knows what’s best for him.

Ortho as a character develops through his relationships with Idia, and we really love how big of a role Idia plays in his life. Of course, it’s obvious, because Ortho’s main purpose is to assist Idia, but the thing is, he’s always had his own agency about it. From one of his birthday vignettes we learn that Idia didn’t really want to talk to him at first when he created him, so Ortho had to analyze movies and learn how to have a proper emotional human-like dialogue, trying to find a way to approach Idia. And this “trying to find a way to approach him, trying to find a way to communicate with him, trying to make him happy” is Ortho’s entire life quest, but it’s such a dynamic quest that makes him learn a lot about himself as well. Even though Ortho only got his “heart” at the end of chapter 6, I think he developed feelings much earlier than that.

Which leads us to a very specific trope that we love in ships and media: an AI that falls in love/becomes obsessed with a person it serves. And not necessarily in a healthy or human way, since its grasp of empathy and ethics is much different from a human being’s, which makes its love weird and uncanny and yet strong and absolutely genuine. As I mentioned in one of the previous replies, the idea of AI-Ortho developing feelings for Idia, despite not being programmed to feel this way, is heartbreakingly beautiful. And this is exactly what happened to them: Idia is a genius, but he still wouldn’t be able to make AI-Ortho love him as much as he ended up loving him. So all of it is on Ortho…

Another group of tropes that we love a lot are overprotectiveness, unhealthy obsessions and yandere scenarios. And boy these two deliver when it comes to that. They are super protective over each other.

We really enjoyed Ortho’s Ignihyde Gear vignette, in which he overhears some Diasomnia students talking shit about him and Idia and tries to fry them with lasers, because being rude to Idia is an unforgivable sin to Ortho, to the point that he doesn’t even care when Trein calls him out for endangering others. He gets super upset when Trein bans him from going to classes with Idia though, and when he tells Idia about it, Idia gets furious… because how could these assholes bully Ortho, and how could Trein punish Ortho when he was only standing up for himself! The first instinct for both of them in this situation is to get back at assholes for hurting someone they care about. They worry about each other to the degree that they immediately become very antagonistic and cruel towards anyone who wrongs their loved one. And this is such a great trope for us, we love it a lot. In general, if you can describe a ship with a phrase “have you ever loved someone so much you’d want to destroy the world for them”, we’re most likely on board with it, having a mental breakdown because of how absolutely beautiful it is. And this is even a minor example, compared to everything that’s happened in chapter 6… When you look at it from the shipper point of view, the entirety of chapter 6 is so painfully romantic. (Also, even if instead of AI-Ortho we had a real Ortho, I’m pretty sure he would’ve been just as overprotective. The Shrouds are not okay.)

Another good theme of this ship is that ever since they were kids, they were all alone; all they have is each other, and that hasn’t changed even now, as the events of the game unfold. I love this bittersweet feeling of them being the only people who are capable of understanding each other in this big world, it’s such a unique (for a lot of reasons) and extremely strong bond. And it doesn’t matter which version of Ortho you take: be it the canonverse, be it an AU in which the original Ortho never died, they would still be extremely close and feel like the two of them are somewhat separated from the rest of the world. Their experience together is different, no one knows that they went through, and ships with such a great connection are always fun for us to play around with. Especially when their bond comes with a heavy baggage. A lot of things that I’ve described could be very unhealthy, and again, even if Ortho was alive, their relationship with Idia wouldn’t be all that healthy. Idia is very dependent on Ortho, he clings to him and could be pretty much helpless without him. No matter the AU(or canon), Idia always seems like someone who is filled with guilt over it, but just can’t help it. And at the same time, he might feel that Ortho has so much more to live for than to waste his life on his useless brother, and that he has to let him go. Idia is always ready to sacrifice pretty much everything about himself for Ortho, always has been, as we saw it in the flashback. The trauma, the codependence, the jealousy – all these feelings could eat Idia (or Ortho for that matter) alive, and we’ll always enjoy this type of content with them.

Also, here is a fun little bonus. Another interesting thing that I noticed and also some people pointed out as well (well, I’ve seen only one, but I’m not sure we’re the only people who noticed that) is that Ortho and Idia’s story kind of has some correlations with Hercules and Megara’s story. I am very biased because I adore Meg, but the more I think about it, the more it makes sense. Well, Ortho does have a lot of motifs of Hercules and it’s a fact: he “goes from zero to hero”, he is being called “Monsieur Wonder” (Wonderboy), he wanted to be a hero ever since he was a child. And at the end of his arc he had an opportunity to start living a new life, true to who he is (stop pretending to be Ortho Shroud and find his own identity = joining the gods on Olympus), but ends up staying with the one he loves instead (just like Hercules stayed with Meg, because “I finally know where I belong”).

Idia is clearly based on Hades and he doesn’t let us forget it for a moment with his constant quoting, but he still has some interesting traits that resemble Meg as well. He is kinda stuck doing a job he hates (although this is true to Hades as well). And even though his backstory is very different from hers, ultimately, he is a cynical heartbroken person who is disappointed in life and doesn’t want to get hurt again, and who also has a huge soft spot for a certain wonderboy who is very genuine and kind to him, which also makes him feel deep and constant guilt. I really love this unintentional (?) crossover lol

And the last thing, If we’re being open and honest, there are also some aspects of Ortho and Idia’s relationship that hit close to home to us personally. Not the incest thing of course, but the way their dynamic works. Without diving deeper into details of our personal life, let me just say that when Ortho said that he just doesn’t want Idia to be misunderstood and mistreated by others, I felt it.

It’s funny that you, the first Anon, asked about both Ortho/Idia and Lilia/Silver, of course I know what makes these two ships similar lol, but the thing is, our attitude towards Lilia/Silver is a bit different simply because we don’t know them as well as we do Ortho and Idia. With Lilia and Silver, our feelings could basically be described as “well that would be fun/hot, wouldn’t it?”. It’s more on a sexy side of things, even though there are some deeper aspects of their relationships that we love and find interesting. The fact that we love both Lilia and Silver individually also makes them quite a nice ship. They just have a lot of potential for both cute scenarios and really really problematic, unhealthy and fucked up ones. The only reason I’m not writing a 4 page long essay on these two is because I don’t have as much to say about them… yet. Sorry, there’re so many characters in TW, and it takes a while both to get to everyone and to enjoy the ones we’re pretty confident about, so idk how long it’ll take for us to truly dive into Lilia/Silver as much as we have with Ortho/Idia.

TLDR; We love unhealthy dynamics, codependence, possessiveness and readiness to act drastically for a loved one. Ortho and Idia love each other dearly, and there is a lot of baggage and layers to their relationships, no matter which version of Ortho and Idia you take. Lilia and Silver also have a lot of potential for fun unhealthy scenarios, but they are also very hot together, and we are very self-indulgent, sooo don’t mind if we do.

And finally, let’s save all the right and healthy dynamics for real life. In fiction, it’s fun to look at things that are interesting, unusual and taboo. It’s always been this way with us; we’re just naturally drawn towards ships that have problematic elements in them, since they tend to have more potential for messed-up scenarios (and we prefer those). Even in ships with zero age gap and no family relation between the characters whatsoever, we enjoy playing with the idea of unhealthy obsessions, dependence and all this jazz.  We just really love dark media, and not only for shipping purposes.

It’s also ironic, considering the topic of this particular post, but we aren’t that into incest as a trope/kink, haven’t been at least. We’re just very open-minded when a ship grabs our attention, and this is exactly what’s been happening lately with all these couples lol

Dynamic: Neurodivergent lovers who both have prominent special interests and bond over each other's introversion, analytical mindset, and quirky behaviors. Very sweet and loving relationship. L finds me intriguing as I do with him, and we're almost each other's little science experiment. He loves to see my reactions when he shows me physical affection or uses words of endearment toward me. We have a lot of philosophical conversations and love talking about random things! We watch many educational documentaries together and play analytical games like chess. We also both have sweet tooths, much to L's satisfaction. L is a little ooc in my romantic AU, as he's more romantic, sexual, and gentle. Dynamic: Chaotic! We found solace in each other's family trauma, mental instability, and resentment toward society. We make fun of each other and are mean but in a very loving way if that makes any sense. We're both gamers (sort of, I mostly play Rockstar games, nintendo, and Minecraft. Starting to learn League and it's Tomura's fault). Tomura gets ooc in my romantic AU because his hatred for everything is subsided when it comes to me, and he's nice to me even if he's a little prick who kicks me sometimes just because he wants to.

Shouta Aizawa <3

Dynamic: I've been with Shouta the longest out of all these three. I started loving him when I was a minor, though, so figuring out the logistics of this relationship is tricky. I DO NOT support full-grown adult men dating teenage girls. 16 yr old me just didn't see how problematic that was.

Aside from that, this is a very domestic relationship. We both love cats, are tired of everything (metaphorically and literally), and are both workaholics. We have also both played the role of a guardian to younger people. I've found a lot of comfort with Shouta because while he's very stern and has expectation, he's supportive and (somewhat) patient. I'd like to think he's found me as a source of levity and is able to let his guard down when he's with me. My version of Shouta is actually pretty in-character, the only differences being that he's much more soft and gentle, at least around me.

So I am very intrigued by their dynamic, but since I heavily headcanon Lisa as being aro (or arospec bi) I don't really read romance in their ship. I see them as having a QPR - with or without sex thrown in - and it being very sweet between them which probably scares Lisa a bit about Cisco at first.

On the one hand, Lisa doesn't get nice things so where's that shoe that's gonna drop? When will Cisco prove too good to be true after all? Or will it be that Lisa wrecks things herself and hurts Cisco?

But on the other hand, Lisa deserves nice things and nice people and given enough time she can settle in with Cisco and be happy.

I feel like their dynamic works best as two points in a polycule though, so I'm more likely to go for Hartley/Cisco/Lisa or Kamilla/Cisco/Lisa or so on.

So if I'm remembering correctly, FrostWave is really Caitlin/Mick and not Killer Frost/Mick, but I'm gonna talk about both.

For Caitlin and Mick, I like the dynamic where she brings out a softer side in him and he brings out more assertive side to her. Caitlin had really retreated into her shell at the start of Season 1 and Mick definitely would act as impetus for her to step out of her comfort zone and really grow beyond the rigid box she'd placed herself in. In turn, Caitlin shows Mick that he doesn't have to put up this front all the time either. He doesn't always have to be the tough guy.

I mean, they do have to get over that whole 'tied Caitlin to a bomb' thing, but I'm sure they can do it.

With Frost and Mick, they've both done things they're not necessarily proud of and they're trying to figure out who they are when they're not being the bad guy. And finding themselves together is kinda poignant. But also they've got the fire and ice thematics with his gun and her powers.

SuperCorp:

Such an OTP for me. The fact that this wasn't made canon is so disappointing. On a show that already had one of the characters have a lesbian coming out story and the show runners ignored the incredible chemistry between Lena and Kara. I don't usually care whether a ship is canon or not, but this is one where I really think they wasted an amazing story opportunity by keeping the characters relationship platonic.

With the enmity between Lex and Clark, there's a bit of a Romeo and Juliet vibe in that Lena and Kara come from two houses at war with each other and find love anyway. Lena needs to be loved for herself so badly - to prove that she's more than just her family. And Kara wants to create a name for herself too, something that stands free of Superman's shadow.

They have this instant connection that only grows stronger over time. And while Kara's fears and secrecy damage things for a while, they come out the other side much more sure of how important they are to each other.

Honestly, by the end of the show they're basically already married. I'll never make it all the way through their ship tag but every so often I make a decent effort at trying. There's just so much and continues to be more every day, even with the show over they're still such an active and beloved ship.

ColdFlash:

If Legends hadn't wasted a perfectly good character by killing Len off, then on the Flash Iris would have been basically sharing Barry with Len. There's just so much chemistry between Barry and Leonard, it's so fascinating.

They were enemies in the original timeline too and Len showing up to monopolize Barry's time made Eobard soooo jealous. They're both such dorks and it's amazing how they can be both dorks in love and enemies to lovers all at the same time. They work together like they were meant to. They both love the thrill of the chase between them and will protect each other even when it's not in their best interests.

These two are just sooo goooooood. And I love to make them just be so silly about each other.

Harrisco:

Took me a while to really get into this ship and now I can't unsee it. I adore them so much.

They start off with having every reason to mistrust each other and become best friends anyway. And then fall in love over time. Like... seeing the way Harry gravitates towards Cisco when they're in the same room, the way Cisco gets so excited to work on things with Harry, the sniping and teasing and easy, happy smiles...

They're married. In season 4 they're just so married.

Harry always making sure that Cisco doesn't make light of his contributions, always so proud of how brilliant Cisco is... and Cisco just wants so badly for Harry to learn to like himself, to see himself as wonderful the way Cisco sees him... They both value each other so much and it's so lovely.

FlashWave:

I really see Len as being what brings Barry and Mick together, whether he's actually there or not. But I feel like the more they spend time together the more Barry would really see Mick, not the front he puts up but the intelligent man behind the dumb muscle facade. And Mick would see that Barry was kinda messed up too in a way that does kinda compliment Mick's issues.

They're both very devoted characters in their own way and what could easily start as trying to find in each other something of what they lost when Len died would become finding something new in each other.

Barry's own affinity for fire, via lightning, would fascinate Mick and Mick's buried romantic side - see all those romance novels Mick wrote - would appeal to Barry's own romantic nature. I kind of feel like they'd be able to explore sides of themselves with each other that they might not feel comfortable doing with others.

Hi anon! Thank you for the ask! I apologise that it has taken me so long to get back to you. 💦

Thoughts and headcanons below the cut:

To start, I absolutely adore both Leo and Yuno as characters. Yuno is an excellent secondary protagonist (especially as foil to Asta), and I desperately wish we got more Leo because he is just so lovely and has really come a long way over the series. I especially love his positive attitude and fighting spirit. I don't think I've ever really given much thought to shipping Leo (I gave him a future son once in an abandoned WIP but that was really just as a plot device. Sorry Leo), and shipping Yuno just isn't my cup of tea in general since to me, he just doesn't seem too interested in pursuing a romantic relationship with anyone, and he just strikes me as the type who is perfectly content with his only his platonic relationships (i.e. with his family and friends) and who doesn't really want anything more than that (at least not right now). Of course, he could always surprise me and show some romantic inclinations towards someone someday, but until that happens, it's a little hard for me to imagine him romantically involved. This is just my own personal interpretation though.

As a BROTP, I think this would be great though! I hadn't really considered the possibility of Yuno and Leo being close friends, but the more that I think about it, the more I think that it could be really good for them. They'd have a lot of great balance in the dynamic with Yuno being calm and steady force and Leo being fiery and energetic. It could be a little like Yuno and Asta's dynamic, I think, and I can imagine they'd have a great rivalry with each other and always push each other to be their best. I'm sure they'd have a lot of fun sparring together, and I can imagine they spend a lot of time with Asta as well.

A few headcanons:

Leo adopts Yuno as a rival right away and keeps wanting to spar with him (possibly at inopportune times). His persistence is a little bit annoying, but it actually helps Yuno warm up to him more quickly than expected because it reminds him of Asta.

Asta and Leo kind of team up to help Yuno get out in the world, meet new people, and have new experiences. This mainly entails Asta and Leo trying new (somewhat impulsive and sometimes stupid) things, and Yuno getting dragged along on their hairbrained adventures. Yuno feels obligated to tag along because someone has to be the voice of reason and the "responsible one." He is often convinced that without him, Asta and Leo would end up in trouble with the law, seriously injured or dead in a ditch somewhere.

Leo and Yuno connect by talking about their siblings since they both have such a deep devotion to their families. Fuegoleon likes Yuno a lot and thinks he is a good influence, and Mereoleona apprecaites his powerful magic and the fact that he is inspiring Leo to grow stronger as a mage (even though she also thinks he's a stick in the mud). Yuno's younger siblings in Hage really love Leo as well--especially Nash who Leo helps with his similar fire magic attribute.

Yuno has invited Leo to David Swallow's "underground" poker game on multiple occasions. Leo is very bad at it because he has no poker face, so he tries his best to imitate Yuno. It doesn't work. Yuno's attempts to help him practise his poker face have not worked either.

Leo and Yuno also spend time with Mimosa and Klaus. Mimosa is so glad that Yuno and her cousin have become friends. Klaus is glad and relieved that Yuno has friends besides just him and Mimosa (but he would be too nice to say anything about it). They often go to shops and restaurants in the Royal Capital together.

Leo and Yuno are very good sparring partners for each other and often have opportunities to train together since the Golden Dawn HQ and Crimson Lions HQ are very close to each other. It always reminds Yuno of training with Asta since they have similar energetic and positive attitudes, and Leo really benefits from level-headed Yuno reminding him to take breaks and not push himself too hard.

You don't want Sun or Moon to be related. Gotcha. Is it fine if I have them be platonic to each other? I can still add heavy fluff or similar things that indicate a close bond. I just wanted to check that it's okay to keep them platonic.

Which are you into more(You can pick multiple)? Do you want enough fluff to suffocate in? Hot romance(Between DCA/Reader or another character)? Something to cry your heart out to? Or a hide-under-the-covers-till-morning sorta tale? I am open to anything, so let me know how you want it.

Kepla and Lore I have really taken a liking to. I'm always guilty for loving evil characters. Do you have any more information on them personality wise? And I would love more images of them!

Like I mentioned in my secret skeleton wishlist I'm good with pretty much all relationship styles when it comes to my DCA headcanons except for familial bonds just because, like i said, it clashes with a lot of my stories I'm trying to tell. Do what is most comfortable for you as well! 2. GUHH hard choice.. I think my preferences are in this order (most preferred to least BUT STILL ENJOYED! If its at the bottom dont be scared i love ALL of this) -> Romance (if we're talking about art then Sun x Bevel is preferred, BUT if you're planning on writing x reader is fine!!!) -> SCARY for the spirit of HALLOWEEN -> Angst.. I love to cry -> Fluff !!! so soft!! so happy!!! 3. OOO OO! I don't have any more images of them I can share at the moment BUT BUT BUT as far as their personality goes Kepla is an egotistical mastermind who knows how to manipulate others. He's very sassy and mean-girl like such as makes offhanded comments and backhanded insults. If he were to ever meet Sun it would be a squilliam vs squidward dynamic if that makes sense? Lore is for the most part nonverbal, he speaks very rarely. I think his mannerisms are very similar to canon Moon behaviors albeit he's always in his head calculated and thinking about how to strike his next target. 4. Yes absolutely! I'm fine with x reader and keeping them anon / up to interp is a good choice! I will say though with the stuff going on in Kepla and Lore's story romance from outsider characters isn't a great idea, their relationship is not only VERY complicated with each other but anything involving a human person would probably end up with them heartbroken or dead with how fucked up these 2 are LMAO. I love my lil guys but they are.. hoo boy, they need work 5. Some of my favorite tropes are hurt/comfort, enemies to lovers, enemies to friends to lovers, best friends to lovers, miscommunication, unresolved tension, and pretty much anything else you're willing to throw at me because I am not too too picky. And yes, there are only 2 things I would rewrite about Zuko's entire arc. The first is a minor scene from the finale that quite frankly, didn’t need to be there at all? I think it was Br*ke’s attempt at humour and it makes me want to pull my hair out because the logic of writing that scene is beyond me. When they’re looking for Aang, Toph is talking about her relationship with her parents (or lack thereof) and Zuko just makes a face and basically tells her to shut up?????????? Have these men watched their own show I’m so–

Literally in the previous episode Toph and Zuko have a heart to heart about Iroh’s love for him, but suddenly let’s play Toph’s trauma up for laughs I’m actually getting so heated rn lmao. The overdramatic violins playing while she talks and the offhanded “worst field trip ever” while Zuko walks away, wow such writing much wow. How many decisions were made to write, animate, and include that in the final cut, and what did it add to the story? Jackshit, and it’s very uncharacteristic for Zuko, who has been nothing but empathetic and caring for a season and a half, so go figure.

The second one. sigh. I don’t even want to talk about it because someone will def jump on the bullshit narrative of me being a dumb salty ZK shipper. So I’m gonna give yet another disclaimer for this fandom. I’ve answered plenty of asks about this in the past too, and I’ve made it very clear that my feelings about the canon ships (and certain characters) were not affected by my love for Zutara, rather it was the other way round. While watching the show I certainly thought that there was a lot in the writing that implied Zutara, it wasn’t until I sat with the show for a couple of weeks that I realised actually really love the ship. I was angry at the end kisses and stand by the fact that no one should’ve kissed and coupled up, but the fact that it was those two…guys I just. Who allowed these men to write for television I’m crying.

Anyone who’s been here a while knows that I’m not much of a shipper and I’ve never shipped a non-canon ship before because I’m not one of those people who goes out of their way to find hidden romantic subtext between two characters who so much as exist in the same space. I’d much rather explore other relationship dynamics, and tend to get quite bored by romance in general.

So yeah, I stand by the fact that the two canon couples are completely antithetical to the show’s message, and ultimately Br*ke’s fixation on the other one is what led to the show’s end and their protagonist being absolute trash. Talking specifically about Ma/iko tho. Like. The whole point of making them date at the start of S3 was to show us how Zuko doesn’t fit into that life anymore and how it brings out the worst in him???? It was to show us how much he’s changed and how M/ai represents the core FN imperialistic ideologies and how Zuko disagrees with it on a fundamental level???????????? She literally calls him a traitor for defecting, like what. And then suddenly “she loves him more than she fears Azula” (oh lordy I could go on for hours about how that was another completely fucking wasted opportunity to explore an interesting dynamic between the FN girls. And also how that line makes no sense for Mai, and if anyone was scared of Azula, it was Ty Lee but oh well). And then cut to the end scene and they’re making out again without having addressed any of the actual issues in their relationship??? Cool. I hate it here. Reach for your dreams kids, cuz if these men can be successful “writers”, you can do anything!!!!
