Hehe. We need more harpy stuff. And yah brood parasitism is the scientific sort of term for it yeah.

Yah. Smaller species tend to grow up fast. Still doesn't mean Black Star will ever be as big as the rest of chaos's brood. It's got to be such an awkward little growth thing for the others to watch. Whether it's his "siblings" confused how their brother got so big and then small again. Or just a companion of chaos watching this from the side. And yeah it's probably more so that chaos is gigantic. Black Star might have been lucky if it wasn't for a chaos's traits.

I love how Chaos is just seeing a baby trying to do too adult things. And so despite trying to give them the same sort of agency you would give a child. Blackstar needs neither and is probably pissed off.

And yeah I usually the parasite baby is supposed to take the parents attention. And when he was younger it was definitely in his instinct to sort of shove the others out of the way. But now that he's an adult, this is just overbearing. And while he will definitely take when hungry, He will push when he's too full. He's not the runt, He's just different!

(Of course Black Star probably himself doesn't really understand why his instincts are different. It's just obvious to him at this point that he's different and definitely not whatever chaos is.)

I had a dream last night about a kind of cuckoo bird situation with Black Star.

Harpy Chaos didn't question why one of the eggs looked different, all of them were his babies. It didn't matter that Black Star looked nothing like his siblings when they hatched.

Black Star's species matured faster than Chaos', so Black Star was ready to leave the nest way earlier than the other babies. Though he never made it far before he got herded back to the nest by Chaos. It didn't matter how ready Black Star felt, according to Chaos' timeline he was too young to strike out on his own. Though he was given space to explore and hunt for himself, Chaos would always be close by to bring him back to the nest before dark.

Ohh. So this is like a harpies situation? And Black Star is some sort of harpy species that engages in brood parasitism? Interesting idea and dream! I could definitely see it happening. Black Star is trying to follow his instincts to leave and he can't because of the particular nest he was put in.

Black Star is sort of mental and physical maturity will probably clash with chaos quite a bit. Always leading with Black Star trying to get far enough before Chaos catches up and says no. Given how big chaos is I'm assuming Black Star would be rather small. Meaning that he can't do much to get away anyways.

It's a silly idea. I haven't played with harpies in a while. Maybe I should.
