Alcohol
Alcohol comes from the Arabic word al-kuhul (al kohl). ... Around the 16th century, the word was borrowed into English to refer to any fine powder, possibly by way of Middle Latin and French. The indefinite article “al” was thought to be a part of the word, so that one word, alcohol, was formed.
One theory is that the word alcohol is derived from al-ghawl. This is the most straightforward way to link alcohol and spirits, as the word means spirit. ... “Alcohol” was later used specifically to mean ethanol, with the essence or spirit released through the distillation process.
Alcohol al co hol, alco hol, all can hold, alkohol
Writing the word alcohol
Wasn’t sure how to spell it
Ive got so much to say where to start comes up so starting alcohol itself when it’s sweeter I prefer it my first drink as a kid was baby sham then the hard stuff but cheap cider then Pernod and coke never liked beer or wine really i did drink and have been drunk as a young person but later age being drunk has been spars maybe 10 years ago i last got drunk which was a one off.
Reading
Well it makes me think of someone being an alcoholic so first my dad he’s always drunk and started drinking when i was young he used to abuse my mum verbally until we were old enough then he started on us my brother wouldn’t say a word but I wasn’t having any of it and I would fit with him he would try to put you down that your not old enough and how amazing he was i would scream and shout mum would shut the windows so the neighbours wouldn’t hear us he was cleaver with words and would win and id walk out so angry.
In later year id been out and come home he said where my food i said nowhere and he went crazy at me expecting we to feed him he looked at me so evil so i went over to him and punched him in the side of the head my first act of violence id had enough. In later years he was at me in the kitchen and i pinned up against the cooker and he started to cry these were i only times i turn violent i was so angry.
Then i met chris who im married to know and of cause i married my father another alcoholic no very argumentative at first but in later years id go to bed before it would kick off we’ve had hundreds of row while he was drunk. But he now doesn’t drink that much currently once a fortnight which is manageable and im very happy with.
Out loud
I used to work behind the bar in many places and have seen so many drunk people I actually hate drunk people they annoy me so much on the handful of times ive been drunk in the last 30 years ive immediately regretted it because ive felt so ill after it and the person i become when im drunk loud obnoxious look at me ego and feel ashamed of what ive said and the personalities ive shown i feel shameful.
At home we have a bar and when the girls started drinking i felt angry upset but Trinity soon decided it wasn’t for her and doesn’t do it much but leilani is just like her father and loves drinking but not everyday at the moment so good and I really hope it never gets to that.
Ive picked grapes for wine a sweet wine when backpacking.
Just saying the word makes me feel angry upset thinking of my father and husband and what they found as an acceptable thing to do and how i find very unacceptable.
Alcohol is bad stuff when chris is home we go often to a friends party where they all get drunk and i watch them i feel like they are all idiots and i find it hard to fit in talk to them when they are all drunk I know they don’t often invite me because i don’t drink and i must be a bore not drinking.
Hopefully one day its band if you take it to far and you are offer psychological help.
I saw my mum drunk once and she was being sick in the sink at a friend house thats the only time.
My brother in his teens got so drunk he had to have his stomach pumped not good but he did end up like myself and mum not a drinker.
Alcohol has a lot to answer for hay well people who drink have a lot to answer for its wrong.
When you first start getting drunk it feels good then you start to feel your losing you balance thats when its all over your not going to be good in the morning.
Sf out loud
Does this definition support me no so much anger towards this word comes up of being abused by my father and by his when drunk and the times ive been drunk feeling ashamed after of who become and what ive said.
Alcohol all can hold, I can hold.
Alcohol
A drink that has the affect of changing your personality
How ill you live this word/
This is a tough one because i know if chris starts drinking again i will be devastated angry so i need very supportive words with alcohol like be strong watch your emotions breathe calm and sf to help me.

Books are my guilty pleasure.
I should be working but I am reading.
I should be sleeping but I am still reading.
I should be exercising but I have been lured again……
By the temptation to read.
What do I love about books?
Books provide insights into the distilled thoughts that are often decades in the making.
They reveal the wisdom of sages and men and women who have built their work on the generations that have gone before them and next to them.
They are time machines that transport us into the future or take us back to the distant past.
Books aren’t for everyone
But I know that devoting a lot of your time to reading isn’t for everyone because we all have different modalities of learning and absorbing information.
Some like to watch and other like to listen.
One of the real gifts of technology is that information and inspiration can now be provided in a range of mediums. That includes YouTube videos, podcasts, and even audiobooks.
We are all different and some of us are stranger than others. But we need the Mavericks. The crazy ones.
So what have I read recently that has inspired me and shown me new insights and tools to change my life?
Here are inspiring books that have continued to change my thinking about life.
#1. Tribe of Mentors
Tim Ferries inspired me 11 years ago to start a journey into the world of digital entrepreneurship. And over a decade later he is still is offering insights into what it means to be fully human.
Tribe of Mentors: Short Life Advice From the Best in the World is not a book that you would want to consume in big chunks but in small bites.
The format of this book is one where Tim asked people that are at the top of their game 11 questions.
These included:
What is the book or books you’ve given most as a gift? Or….what are one to three books that have greatly influenced your life?
How has failure set you up for later success?
In the last 5 years, what new belief, failure or habit has most improved your life?
As I am always looking for inspiring new books and also key insights into what has made a difference in people’s lives this book distills the essence of what makes people succeed….and fail.
This book is a wonderful resource for ideas and tactics that you can test drive in your own life.
#2. How to Fly a Horse
Kevin Ashton is a serial entrepreneur who debunks the myth of innovation, creativity, and success as being only for the special ones. The geniuses that have been chosen by nature to succeed.
He believes that as humans we are all innately creative and it comes down to one thing.
Process.
If we can only sit down, show up and keep “doing” every day then the possibilities are just waiting to be manifested.
Woody Allen said “80% of success is just showing up” and in the context of this book, it now makes total sense to me.
I can identify with this as I discovered that success shows up if you persist and keep creating every day despite disappointment and setbacks.
His book “How to Fly a Horse: The Secret History of Creation, Invention and Discovery” is a great read that will give you hope, despite friends or teachers telling you that you were ordinary.
Ordinary can become extraordinary if you persist in “showing up” every day.
#3. The Creative Habit
You may have detected a bit of a theme in this book list.
Many of us have completed IQ tests and have been categorized and dropped into that “not so smart” bin.
But they don’t measure things like persistence, discipline, and motivation.
It is good to be bright but it’s better to start and create habits that over time to transform your life.
The Habit of “Deep Work” transformed my life.
“The Creative Habit: Learn it and Use It For Life” is by Twyla Tharp who is one of the world’s leading choreographers, and creator of the smash-hit Broadway show, Movin’ Out.
In it, she shares her secrets for developing and honing your creative talents.
#4. The Artists Journey
Stephen Pressfield is one of my favorite authors.
His books are often short but beautifully written with wit and wisdom.
He has perfected the art of distilling powerful insights into the human condition. These include how to overcome life’s challenges and roadblocks and break through to success.
The Artists Journey: The Wake of the Heroes Journey and The Lifetime Pursuit of Meaning will inspire you to do the work.
#5. The Resilience Factor
Life sometimes just flows. At other times you feel like you are waging a war and are being overwhelmed with chaos as things beyond your control threaten to draw you into the abyss.
This is when resilience is needed.
The book The Resilience Factor: 7 Keys to Finding Your Inner Strength and Overcoming Life’s Hurdles by Karen Reivich and Andrew Shatté is a book based on scientific research.
The 7 skills include:
Avoiding thinking traps
Detecting icebergs
Overcoming challenging beliefs
Resilience can be learned. It is a skill that we all need.
And we will need it in parenting, business, work and just for “life” when it shows up in all its glorious imperfection.
