I usually wake up at 6 AM or 6:10 AM and finish getting ready at 6:40 AM. Putting an entire suit on and then getting everything I need for the day AND breakfast in about 30-40 minutes? That's right!

I don't shave. Makes me feel manly also I don't ever want to feel razor burn AGAIN. Legs are also useless to shave since I always wear dress pants anyways and my hair is light.

In my chair in my room in my house in my state in my country.

Anyway my personal take on a modern ofmd au is that Stede is a mildly out of touch upper-middle-class man whose first purchase with his inheritance money was a concert ticket for a punk band that he secretly liked but was never brave enough to go see, and Ed is the poor lifelong punk who patches him up and buys him a drink after he takes a nasty fckin fall during his first ever mosh pit, and then proceeds to fall immediately in love with this strange man who wore a button up and slacks to a concert and is now drunkenly asking him if he’d like to see pictures of the flower garden at his lake house

Barcelona <3

Hi everyone, and happy spring break :)

This week started out very similar to my others here so far. Monday and Tuesday are my study days - and once again, I’ve found a new favorite coffee shop. This one is called Cafe Agrado, and I actually came here a few weekends back for brunch! All of my normal spots were pretty packed earlier this week, so I decided to visit and I can say that this is my new favorite place. It’s a bit more hidden away, so there are always seats available, and it has plenty of natural lighting. I had the best iced coffee here, which is integral to studying for me. I also tried a slice of their homemade pistachio - strawberry cake, and although I’m not much of a sweets person, I finished this in about 2 minutes. I love this place so much that it’s actually where I’m writing my blog from today! So safe to say I will be here a lot in the coming weeks.

Wednesday night I had some free time, so I visited Temple de Debod, which is the perfect sunset spot. On the weekends it can get pretty packed, but on weekdays it’s gorgeous. There were various musicians serenading the crowds as the sun set, and it was super peaceful.

This past weekend, I was able to travel to Barcelona and visit one of my good friends from high school. I’ve been trying to use some of these “colder months” (lol not compared to Michigan) to explore the cities of Spain, and so far Barcelona has to be my favorite! I arrived Friday morning as we had class off, and immediately started exploring. We visited Park Guell, which is home to beautiful mosaics and views. My only complaint about the park is that you have to pay €10 to get in - isn’t that crazy? But, I was really excited to explore the park so I went anyway.

The famous mosaic bench was created by the artist/architect Gaudi. He has a huge influence throughout Barcelona, and I’ll cover some more of his works that I saw later. The bench was beautiful, and the rest of the park was also super pretty! There were a lot of musicians around and I even saw a woman dancing Flamenco.

After visiting the park, we visited the Arco de Triunfo in Barcelona. I actually was unaware that there was one in Barcelona as I’m familiar with the one in France. It was pretty, and it serves as a gateway to the Parc de la Ciutadella, another famous park in Barcelona. Luckily, we did not have to pay for this park. It was a beautiful day, so we passed a lot of people on picnics on our way to visit the big fountain within the park.

After this, we took the tram to go on a cable car to overlook the city! This was super fun, and the views of the city from the cable car were gorgeous. At the top, there's a castle and beautiful views of both the city and the Mediterranean. We booked a round-trip ride, so we enjoyed the view for a bit before heading back down the mountain/hill. Later on Friday, we enjoyed a delicious dinner and then visited a local cocktail bar before relaxing and heading home.

Saturday was once again a jam-packed day. We started off our morning pretty early to visit the Sagrada Familia. I knew I had to visit this while in Barcelona, and I’m so glad I did! I will say, the price to go inside was a bit steep (about €38) but I didn’t want to miss my chance to visit and regret it. I was a little worried about the light shining through the windows as it was more of an overcast day, but this didn’t matter at all. The inside was breathtaking, and the colors from the stained glass windows were gorgeous. Gaudi was the main architect behind the Sagrada Familia, and now that I’ve seen several of his works I’m so interested to learn more about him. The Basilica was so intricate, I was blown away by the creativity and detail that went into it.

After this tour, we grabbed brunch and went to Las Ramblas. Las Ramblas is similar to Gran Via in Madrid, as it is the main street full of restaurants and shopping. We were able to kill a few hours here. After exploring the street and side streets for a bit, we went to El Paradiso. El Paradiso is one of the most famous bars in Barcelona (and the world), and was ranked #1 in the “World’s Top 50 Bars.” A friend of mine had given me some helpful information to get to the bar at 4pm when they open and sign up for a virtual queue, as the place is so popular it takes hours to get in. I am so thankful for this tip, or else we would have never gotten in! We went home, relaxed, and then signed up for the queue around 7pm. We then went back to the area around 9pm for dinner, and then finally got into the bar around 11pm. It was so cool - I would say similar to the idea of a speakeasy. We walked in through a very inconspicuous cabinet that actually happened to be a door, and the inside was dim and intimate. We ended up trying 3 drinks, and all were delicious with a fun artistic flair. It was my favorite bar I’ve visited so far, and definitely worth the wait. We spent a few hours there and then ended our night.

Sunday morning I took the train back to Madrid, and then immediately went to sleep when I got home. It was a long weekend, but so so fun.

Posting early because of a busy weekend

Bathilda Bagshot may have been old, may have been “batty”, but she prided herself on her exceptional hearing, thank you very much! One didn’t write the best-selling Hogwarts history of all time by just reading after all. So, Bathilda Bagshot knew a thing or two about the auditory medium.

And those Potters, they were loud — so very, very loud.

She supposed she couldn’t blame them. They were probably used to the idea that no one else could hear. Only those with knowledge of the house could, after all. And those people were naturally very few and far between.

But, consequently, they were loud! So very very loud!

And it spoiled Bathilda’s quiet mornings. Her peaceful quiet mornings! Oh, how she had loved her quiet mornings! Revelled in them. Needed them.

And then those Potters came along!

It was mostly the baby, of course. First, the teething. Oh, the teething! Poor mite was up all night with the pain, and Mummy and Daddy did all they could, but the screams came around like clockwork with the rooster’s crow. Bathilda came over with a potion or two from time to time just to shut the poor dear up. And that poor lovely girl always cooked for her afterwards. How lovely! So very kind she was, Bathilda often thought, though exceptionally loud!

And, oh, then, of course, came the talking! The babbling! How was that baby so talkative? So loud! Of course, it was probably from his father. Lovely man, lovely lovely young man he was. Always had a cheeky tale to tell, and so helpful around the house. So charming. Still, never had Bathilda heard a voice so loud!

That wasn’t the worst of though, was it? No, this was a young couple. A young married couple. And Bathilda had been young once too. She knew what it was like! (Knew all too well from when her nephew had stayed with her too, though no excuse for his lack of silencing charms, I dare say.) And well, Lily and James… it was enough to make an old woman blush! No wonder they had that darling boy so young. They certainly had plenty of practice…

Still, everyone involved must have enjoyed themselves, as they were so. very. loud!

It was strange then when that November 1st things became so quiet. The crowds came later, of course, — the paparazzi, the tourists, the aspirant mourners — and they were loud, annoying, irritatingly loud. But that first day the morning was as quiet as a mourner’s mind.

And in that moment, she just knew.

Bathilda never enjoyed a quiet morning again. Why ever had she before? There was no life in quiet.

She’d blast her wireless, sing to the birds, tell herself a cheeky story or two, maybe get the cooking started!

Anything to keep it loud.

Thoughts from my Twitter

Zack lives, but he mourns that the shy spitfire of a cadet he became friends with didn't survive nibelheim.

Zack lives, but he and Cloud must learn how their new scars and broken edges fit together so they don't cut one another

Zack lives, but he has to come to terms with the fact that Cloud is not a fragile kid who needs to BE protected, as much as he WANTS to protect him.

Zack lives and now they can live and grow together and learn to heal some of their broken edges. And come to terms with the people that they are now instead of who they could have been.

Just. Zack lives and the world is healing, but where does that leave ex-soldiers with more scars than anyone their age should carry.

Where does that leave the kid who would have given everything to save the world, and the guy who everyone thought DID give everything to save one cadet.

Where does that leave them, two kids who grew into adults that don't believe in heroes anymore but WERE heroes all the same.

Where does that leave them and the scars they bear and the anger they carry and the grief that will never go away?

But yeah just. Zack Fair lives, and Cloud lives, but so much of them didn't. And THAT is the mood of the night.

My #1 post of 2022

Things I do when I'm Stuck

This is definitely not an end-all-be-all list of things, and if they don't work for you, I definitely encourage you to explore options that DO work for you.

But! When I'm stuck on a scene, or just struggling to write in general this is the list I run through in (almost) no particular order - The first and last ones listed are always in that order.

Make sure I'm not hungry, thirsty, over tired, etc. Taking care of the body is important to actually getting anything done. And refusal to focus on a task can be one of my first signs that I'm neglecting myself.

Take a 10-15 minute (or longer) break away from my computer. This can be to talk with a roommate or partner, to go get food, to sit with my dog, take a shower... just. Time away from the screen, Not Thinking about what I'm trying to write.

Try to write on something else. Literally anything else. 5 minutes on another project. A warm up. A journal. Get the words flowing. Then try to come back to what I need to be working on.

Try to write via a different program or media. For example - moving from dabble (my writing program) into a private discord server, or 4thewords. Or writing by hand in my notebook for a while. The change of pace can make the words flow better. I especially recommend trying to write by hand here and there - getting away from the distraction of the Internet + you can doodle in the margins.

Talk through the scene. Sometimes this is with a friend/writing group/etc and sometimes this is just me pacing around my room talking to myself while I envision the scene. The goal here is to banter out ideas and figure out where i'm getting stuck and what path I want to take with the story. Don't be afraid to look above where you are actually stuck - the problem may be earlier in the chapter, or even in a previous one.

Do some editing. Whether in the same project, an earlier chapter, or a different project entirely. This runs pretty heavily counter to the standard tip of not editing while you're meant to be writing. But sometimes just... rereading can get me back into the mood of a story, and if I'm going to be rereading, I'm often going to be touching it up, either adding or fixing, or even removing if it feels wrong.

Go do something else. Similar to the 10-15 minute break, but in this case it's more like giving myself permission to not be writing. Not, I'll get back to it in just a few minutes but more like - okay, I'm going to take a break for today, and play a video game or watch a movie. Maybe read a book. This tends to be more in line with "consuming media" even if it's media I'm well familiar with, because without input, there's no output.

I find it's really, really important to give yourself permission to not be creating. Sometimes you need to unwind and take the down time. Listen to yourself. Grinding yourself down to nothing does not help you.

The Other Side

Summary: Joanna Hanshaw thought she had it all. She was living the perfect life on her grandparent’s horse farm in Lexington, she had everything money could buy you, she had her parents that loved her, and was surrounded by horses. But all that changed in a single night. What will happen when Joanna is taken away from the comforts of her home and starts to learn the truth about who her family really is? This is a different side of the Phantom Stallion Series based around the Ely's.

A knock on the door made a few heads turn.

Luke peered through the lace curtain and spotted a familiar old red Scout truck parked outside.

"Hi, dad?" Luke said, sounding unsure as he opened the front door.

Standing before him was MacArthur Ely. Dressed in dark denim jeans, paired with a gray t-shirt, his silver/black hair pulled back in its usual braid. Mac's outfit looked relaxed, but he was a man on a mission.

"Good morning, son." He smiled at his son's confusion.

"It's great to see you, but why didn't you call?"

"Even if I had called, I still would have come over because we needed to talk," Mac said in a no-nonsense manner.

When I started with this blog I had no idea that one day I´ll have over 100 200 of You!!! I came on Tumblr to read Queen/Bohemian rhapsody stories and slowly discovered many other fandoms I loved.
